[ad_1] GG News Bureau New Delhi, 21st Oct. Union Home Minister Amit Shah reiterated India’s commitment to combating terrorism, infiltration, and conspiracies to create religious tension, even as the nation has achieved relative peace in regions like Jammu and Kashmir, the Northeast, and Naxal-affected areas. Shah made these remarks while addressing the Police Commemoration Day function at the National Police Memorial on Monday. “Despite the progress, our fight is not over. We will continue to combat narcotics, cybercrime, and other threats that challenge our national security,” Shah stated, paying homage to the sacrifices of police personnel who laid down their lives in service to the nation. He assured the families of the martyrs that their sacrifices would not be in vain, promising that India would achieve its goal of becoming a fully developed nation by 2047. Since India’s independence, 36,438 police personnel have died in the line of duty, with 216 of those sacrifices occurring in the past year, Shah noted. He emphasized the country’s gratitude, stating, “The nation will forever remain grateful for their role in our development journey.” Reflecting on India’s progress, Shah highlighted that relative peace has been established in Jammu and Kashmir, the Northeast, and Left-Wing Extremism (LWE) regions over the last decade. However, he stressed that the challenges posed by infiltration, terrorism, and other security threats remain and will be met with continued vigilance. Shah also spoke about the three new criminal laws that came into force on July 1, stating that the groundwork for their implementation began five years ago and is expected to be completed in the next three years. He assured that India’s criminal justice system would soon be among the most modern globally, enabling swift justice up to the Supreme Court within three years of an FIR registration. Discussing welfare initiatives for police personnel, Shah highlighted the ‘Ayushman CAPF’ scheme, which allows police personnel and their families to access medical treatment in any Ayushman hospital. He also announced the approval for the construction of 13,000 houses for CAPF personnel, with 11,276 expected to be ready by March next year to improve housing satisfaction. Before delivering his speech, the Home Minister paid floral tributes to police personnel who have died in the line of duty. Police Commemoration Day, observed annually on October 21, honors the memory of ten policemen who lost their lives in an ambush by heavily armed Chinese troops at Hot Springs in Ladakh in 1959, as well as all other police martyrs since then. Title: Naxalite Attack in Chhattisgarh's Bastar District Claims Lives of Three Security Personnel
In a tragic occurrence, a Naxalite attack in Chhattisgarh's Bastar district resulted in the deaths of three security men and the injury of four more. A patrol unit was ambushed earlier today in a secluded forested location by a group of Naxal rebels.
The Naxalites opened fire heavily on the security officers as they were conducting a routine patrol to ensure the safety of the area. Before the assailants withdrew into the dark woodland, there was a lengthy exchange of fire.
In order to conduct search and combing operations to find the attackers responsible for the attack, authorities hurriedly dispatched more soldiers to the area. The injured workers have been transported for medical attention to the closest hospital.
The incident shows the persistent threat of naxalism in the area, and security personnel have been working hard to combat the problem. The Bastar district, which is renowned for its thick forests and challenging topography, has long been a centre of Naxalite activities.
Bhupesh Baghel, the chief minister, has since apologised to the families of the security personnel who died and denounced the incident. He promised to step up efforts to combat the Naxal insurgency in the area and gave the families of the martyrs the assurance that the state government would offer all necessary help.
The incident serves as a sharp reminder of the state's ongoing security risks and the value of remaining vigilant in addressing such difficulties. The government and security forces keep trying to bring growth and calm back to the devastated areas.

Soon dogs to be 'extra eyes', couriers for CRPF in combat zones
Sep 05, 2022 13:31 IST By Saurabh Trivedi New Delhi , September 5 (AF): The operational units of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) in insurgency-hit areas and anti-terror operations will soon be able to use dogs for remote surveillance and sending equipment across camps, something that only the United States (US) Special Forces and Canadian Special Forces have been able to do so far. This will happen through the procurement of K9 vision system and the Canine Remote Deployment System (CRDS). A document accessed by the ANI reads that the operational Units of CRPF deployed in the IED prone region of Left Wing Extremism (LWE) and Jammu and Kashmir are pressing hard for the provision of K9 teams. CRPF is in the process of procurement of working line breeding stock of K9s and pups of BSM (Belgian Shepherd Malinois). The CRPF has released Qualitative Requirements and Trial Directives for the procurement of both systems. "CRDS is a K9 mounted article delivered remotely as an UNDERDOG" attached to the release mechanism. The system is very effective in delivering a remotely wide range of articles i.e breaching charge, bugging devices, portable jammer, lifesaving medicines and technical gadgets inside the 'Hot Zone'. The system proved to be extremely supportive in certain operational situations which are confronted quite often when human intervention is virtually impossible or not recommended in face of extreme threat. CRDS is currently used by Special Forces units of US and Canadian Special Forces in various operations," read the document. "The Weight of the payload should be maxing 80O grams. The system should be provided with a rugged, heavy-duty cover or casing for protection against damage or fall," it added. The paramilitary force is also evaluating the efficacy of another gadget called the K9 Vision System, a canine camera system. It is in used by Special Forces around the world. The system contains a front and rear camera, night vision, collar, pouch and radio integration to ensure the handler is connected to K9. A high-quality video and radio transmission means working in real-time to maximize operational capabilities. As per the requirement placed by the CRPF, the system should be provided with a remote capable of full control over a minimum range of 450m with a wrist screen facility. The capabilities of both systems will be displayed to the committee before confirming their procurement in the force. "The sniffing power of dogs is the biggest advantage for CRPF personnel during anti-naxal operations and anti- terror operations in J&K. Every Battalion in Naxal areas have 14 dogs and every time a team goes out on patrol, dogs move ahead of the team to detect any ambush, explosives or landmines. And deployment of CRDS and K9 vision systems will give more power to patrolling units in these affected areas," said a senior CRPF officer. However, the CRPF has already specified that they will only be procuring and deploying Belgian Shepherd (BSM) breeds in LWE and Jammu and Kashmir areas because of their sound sensitivity and sight sensitivity. "BSM is the best police dog in the world. It is a tried and tested breed. Different organizations use different breeds as per their requirement. Some forces use Labrador and cocker spaniel as they are public friendly dogs used for sniffing in metro, airports and other public places," CRPF officer added. (AF) Read the full article

Letters to the Editor – November 15, 2021
The ambush of the Assam Rifles boss, his family and staff is amazing. The event leads to questions being asked and one simply hopes that the collection of information is going well. That naxals are on the back is evident and there may be a potential for volunteering. However, this should be a moment of deep reflection. Violence of any kind is endless and there must be other ways to make naxals…
