ACID! ⥠cobra
synopsis : youâre usually the one whoâs cleaning up his wounds but now the roles have reversed.
rockyâs sibling!reader , typical hnl violence , tending to boo-booâs <3
if you have a blank blog [no bio, no user, no header or profile pic, nothing reblogged, etc] do not interact with my content. you will be blocked.
your brother was a little overprotective. loyal, kind, comforting â and intense. as soon as you learned how to walk, you were taught how to defend yourself in some way ; in any way.
the man in next to you smirks as he looks you up and down, eyes latched onto the white jacket hanging on your shoulders. âyouâre with rocky, huh?â
you look away from your phone and to the man. the bus stop is usually empty at this time â the people of sword didnât venture into the dark. you blink, âexcuse me?â
he points to your jacket, âthe white rascals. you know them?â he takes a puff of his cigarette before flicking it to the floor and stomping it out. he chuckles, âthis isnât their territory. that doesnât scare you?â
âwhy would that scare me?â you prepare yourself, poising with your back stiff and fists clenched. your back is to the map, giving the stranger in front of you your full attention. âit doesnât matter whose territory iâm in.â
he lets out another cackle â something filled with trouble ; something nasty and mean. âsure about that?â
as cobra walks to the store for naomi, the sound of fighting catches his ears. itâs nothing new in this district â especially after the sun goes down â cobraâs instinct is to ignore it. however, as he goes past the bus stop, he hears a small yelp. a familiar yelp â one that sounds like you.
quickened footsteps hit the concrete, eyes peeled for you or your attacker. instead, cobra sees a man kneeling in front of you as you crush his fingers under your boots. your face is hidden in the shadows of the alleyway â your bus has long passed now â and cobra canât hear what you say.
you let out a huff, swiping the blood from under your nose. the man is unconscious now â a quick knee to the face is all he needed. someone is standing at the mouth of the alley, stopping you in your tracks.
â[name]? everything okay?â
you squint into the dark, inching forward until the streetlight is brightening the figure. you pause, âoh, cobra.â
he looks you over, eyebrows furrowing at the sight of blood on your face and hands. you see his gaze and go to rub your hands on your pants before remembering youâre wearing white. âwhatâs going on?â
âjustââ you look back at the slumped over figure before shrugging. âa little disagreement is all.â
cobra nods slowly before grabbing your arm softly. he makes a show of it â moving calmly and casually as he puts his hand out for you. âletâs get away from here, then.â
youâre sitting on a bench outside of a convenience store, waiting for cobra. he insisted you stay until he could take you home ; stay until he could look over your wounds. a rustle of a bag catches your attention, eyes opening to look at the blond ; you didnât even notice theyâd shut.
âthis might sting,â he says quietly before a wet cotton ball is patted under your nose. thereâs a scratch on your lip that cobra touches tenderly, his knees knocking against yours as he does. âgood thing you won your disagreement.â
you grin, hissing when it burns the wound on your lip. âi always win.â
with nowhere else to look, youâre stuck staring at cobra. youâd met him a few times before when heâd stop by to speak to your brother, your eyes wandering and always landing on him. he was pretty â polished in a way the other rugged, messy men you hung around werenât.
cobra smirks, âstarinâ, [name]?â
âwhat else am i supposed to do?â you shoot back. with the tip of his ring finger, cobra scoops the ointment, tapping it onto your lips and then under your nose. âyou wonât tell my brother about this, will you?â
ânot this time.â he sighs, shoulders slumping at he puts supplies back into the bag. cobra meets your eyes sternly this time. âif it happens again, thoughâŠâ
âit wonât,â you promise. âiâm usually more careful.â
cobra smirks again as he rubs the blood off of your hands. he looks at you through his eyelashes, âyou little delinquent.â
you simply flash him a smile, your tongue sticking through your teeth.

[TASK 163: AFRO LATINE]
In celebration of Latine Heritage Month being September 15th-October 15th, hereâs a masterlist below compiled of over 250+ Afro Latine faceclaims categorised by gender with their occupation and ethnicity denoted if there was a reliable source. If you want an extra challenge use random.org to pick a random number! Of course everything listed below are just suggestions and you can pick whichever faceclaim or whichever project you desire.
Any questions can be sent here and all tutorials have been linked below the cut for ease of access! REMEMBER to tag your resources with #TASKSWEEKLY and we will reblog them onto the main! This task can be tagged with whatever you want but if you want us to see it please be sure that our tag is the first five tags, @ mention us or send us a messaging linking us to your post!
THE TASK - scroll down for FCâs!
STEP 1: Decide on a FC you wish to create resources for! You can always do more than one but who are you starting with? There are links to masterlists you can use in order to find them and if you want help, just send us a message and we can pick one for you at random!
STEP 2: Pick what you want to create! You can obviously do more than one thing, but what do you want to start off with? Screencaps, RP icons, GIF packs, masterlists, PNGâs, fancasts, alternative FCâs - LITERALLY anything you desire!
STEP 3: Look back on tasks that we have created previously for tutorials on the thing you are creating unless you have whatever it is you are doing mastered - then of course feel free to just get on and do it. :)
STEP 4: Upload and tag with #TASKSWEEKLY! If you didnât use your own screencaps/images make sure to credit where you got them from as we will not reblog packs which do not credit caps or original gifs from the original maker.
THINGS YOU CAN MAKE FOR THIS TASK - Â examples are linked!
Stumped for ideas? Maybe make a masterlist or graphic of your favourite faceclaims. A masterlist of names. Plot ideas or screencaps from a music video preformed by an artist. Masterlist of quotes and lyrics that can be used for starters, thread titles or tags.
Screencaps
RP icons [of all sizes]
Gif Pack [maybe gif icons if you wish]

At school he hides behind his emo image and stays as invisible as he can, but online heâs got to be extra-vigilant. He canât reveal anything about himself to Ryder, as much as he might like toâdoing so would risk bringing trouble down on himself and his mom. Thereâs something about Ryder that makes him easy to talk to, though. Octopods:Â Shape matters for light-activated nanocatalysts
- By Jade Boyd , Rice University -
Points matter when designing nanoparticles that drive important chemical reactions using the power of light. Researchers at Rice Universityâs Laboratory for Nanophotonics (LANP) have long known that a nanoparticleâs shape affects how it interacts with light, and their latest study shows how shape affects a particleâs ability to use light to catalyze important chemical reactions.
In a comparative study, LANP graduate students Lin Yuan and Minhan Lou and their colleagues studied aluminum nanoparticles with identical optical properties but different shapes. The most rounded had 14 sides and 24 blunt points. Another was cube-shaped, with six sides and eight 90-degree corners. The third, which the team dubbed âoctopod,â also had six sides, but each of its eight corners ended in a pointed tip.
All three varieties have the ability to capture energy from light and release it periodically in the form of super-energetic hot electrons that can speed up catalytic reactions. Yuan, a chemist in the research group of LANP director Naomi Halas, conducted experiments to see how well each of the particles performed as photocatalysts for hydrogen dissociation reaction. The tests showed octopods had a 10 times higher reaction rate than the 14-sided nanocrystals and five times higher than the nanocubes. Octopods also had a lower apparent activation energy, about 45% lower than nanocubes and 49% lower than nanocrystals.
âThe experiments demonstrated that sharper corners increased efficiencies,â said Yuan, co-lead author of the study, which is published in the American Chemical Society journal ACS Nano. âFor the octopods, the angle of the corners is about 60 degrees, compared to 90 degrees for the cubes and more rounded points on the nanocrystals. So the smaller the angle, the greater the increase in reaction efficiencies. But how small the angle can be is limited by chemical synthesis. These are single crystals that prefer certain structures. You cannot make infinitely more sharpness.â
Lou, a physicist and study co-lead author in the research group of LANPâs Peter Nordlander, verified the results of the catalytic experiments by developing a theoretical model of the hot electron energy transfer process between the light-activated aluminum nanoparticles and hydrogen molecules.
âWe input the wavelength of light and particle shape,â Lou said. âUsing these two aspects, we can accurately predict which shape will produce the best catalyst.â
The work is part of an ongoing green chemistry effort by LANP to develop commercially viable light-activated nanocatalysts that can insert energy into chemical reactions with surgical precision. LANP has previously demonstrated catalysts for ethylene and syngas production, the splitting of ammonia to produce hydrogen fuel and for breaking apart âforever chemicals.â
âThis study shows that photocatalyst shape is another design element engineers can use to create photocatalysts with the higher reaction rates and lower activation barriers,â said Halas, Riceâs  Stanley C. Moore Professor of Electrical and Computer Engineering, director of Riceâs Smalley-Curl Institute and a professor of chemistry, bioengineering, physics and astronomy, and materials science and nanoengineering.

Everything You Need to Know About Instagramâs New Paid Partnership Feature
Over the past few weeks, you may have noticed a new paid partnership feature on Instagram.
Wondering what it means?
With the FTC recently taking a ton of new measures to crack down on influencers and businesses that violate its requirements, Instagram launched a new paid partnership feature to eliminate some of the risks associated with creating sponsored posts.
The feature, which first released to a small group of influencers and businesses in June, was expanded to more users in September. Just recently, Instagram made the feature available to all accounts âwith high levels of engagementâ and access to Instagram Insights data!Â
Hereâs everything you need to know about how to use Instagramâs new paid partnership feature, and why it may not be enough to satisfy the FTC.Â
Why Instagramâs Paid Partnership Feature Matters
Influencer-driven marketing has become of the biggest (and best) ways for brands to reach Instagram audiences.
By partnering with influencers to launch sponsored content campaigns, businesses can tap into a treasure trove of potential customers.
And Instagram users, on their part, are able to learn about products and services from the voices of the accounts they follow.
View this post on Instagram
This time of year always makes me nostalgic đ The weather changes and I crave lazy mornings where I can cuddle up with a book and move at a slow pace. The smell of @maisonmargielafragrances âLazy Sunday Morningsâ is fresh, musky and smells like home â€ïž Available at @sephora #smellslikememories #sponsored
A post shared by Michelle Madsen (@michelletakeaim) on Oct 15, 2017 at 10:11am PDT
And, as a result, the FTC (Federal Trade Commission) has started taking violations of its Endorsement Guides more seriously.
In fact, just last month, the FTC sent warning letters to 21 Instagram influencers, including Lindsay Lohan and Naomi Campbell.
Thatâs why Instagram created its paid partnership feature: to bring greater transparency and consistency to sponsored content on Instagram. Â
What Exactly Is Instagramâs New Paid Partnership Feature?
With the above goals in mind, Instagram created a tool that A) helps influencers disclose when a post is sponsored, and B) helps businesses gather insights about how their sponsored content campaigns performed.
For influencers, the paid partnership feature allows them to âclearlyâ disclose (via an Instagram tag) that theyâre publishing sponsored content.
When a post is tagged, people will see âPaid partnership with [business partner]â in the postâs headerâwhere you would usually see the postâs location.
The feature also works for Instagram Stories, in which case the tag will appear at the top of the story just below the userâs name.
When a business is tagged in a paid partnership post, theyâll now be able to see the reach and engagement (likes and comments) of the post in their Facebook Page Insights.
And for Instagram Stories, tagged businesses will have a 14-day window to see such metrics as reach, taps forward, taps backward, replies, and exits.
Businesses will also have the option to turn a âPartner Approvalâ setting on, giving them the ability to approve (or disapprove) any sponsored content partnerships before a tagged post is published.
Does Instagramâs Paid Partnership Feature Follow the FTCâs Guides?
Hereâs where things get a little tricky.
While Instagram has marketed the feature as a way to bring transparency and consistency to sponsored content, the FTC doesnât necessarily agreeâŠ
In its recently updated Endorsement Guides, the commission discusses the issue of built-in platform disclosure (such as Instagramâs), stating that they donât always meet the FTCâs requirements.
In particular, the FTC takes issue with the location or placement of the disclosure (above the Instagram post), saying that it may not attract a viewerâs attention.
They also said that simply flagging that a post contains sponsored content might not be sufficient if the post mentions multiple brands and not all of the mentions were paid.
The big-picture point is that, ultimately, the responsibility for clearly disclosing a material relationship on Instagram rests with the influencer and the business, not the platform.
So does that mean Instagramâs paid partnership feature is totally useless?
Not at all!
While simply tagging a business with the feature may not sufficiently meet the FTCâs requirements â meaning you probably still need to disclose any partnerships in your Instagram caption â the feature still offers a ton of great insights and is definitely a step in the right direction.
For instance, businesses have never before been able to monitor the success of their sponsored Instagram campaigns with such detailed metrics.
As a result of this new data, they can make better decisions when planning their influencer marketing campaigns, in terms of who to partner with and what ROI to expect.
Influencers can also benefit from this kind of data, whether itâs optimizing their sponsored posts or finding new businesses to partner with.
How to Use Instagramâs Paid Partnership Feature
At the moment, Instagramâs paid partnership feature is being rolled out to a select number of celebrities, influencers, public figures, publishes, and businesses.
Itâs unclear exactly when or if the feature will be available to the general public, but according to a recent Medium article by Eduardo Morales (who runs @pinlord on Instagram), he received an in-app notification when he was accepted to try out the new feature.
Getting Started With Paid Partnerships as a Business
Once youâve been granted to the feature as a business, youâll want to begin by turning the partner approvals setting on.
1. Go to âOptionsâ and scroll down to the new âBranded Content Approvalsâ section.
2. Next, toggle the âRequire Approvalsâ button to on.
Now, whenever an influencer requests to create sponsored content for your account, tap âApproved Accountsâ immediately below the âRequire Approvalâ button.
Here you can approve accounts to create sponsored content for you.
Once an influencer has been accepted, whenever they tag you in a post (using the paid partnership feature), youâll receive a notification via Facebook and Instagram. If they tag you in a sponsored Instagram story, youâll also receive the notification by Instagram Direct.
If you want to be removed from the tag, you can do so in one of two ways:
1. The first option is to use the Business Manager on your Facebook page. To remove a tag, you can select either the posts tab or Stories tab, and then click on the downward arrow next to the influencerâs Instagram handle, and click the âRemove Tagâ button.
2. A second option is to remove the tag within Instagram. Here, all you have to do is click the ellipsis button on the right-hand side above the post and select the âRemove Me From Postâ option. For Instagram Stories, the ellipsis button will be in the bottom right-hand corner.
Accessing Your Paid Partnership Insights as a Business
Once a sponsored content campaign goes live, youâll be able to find your insights in the âBranded Contentâ tab in your Facebook Page Insights.
You can also see your Stories insights here, however, you only have a 14-day window to see these metrics.
You can also find your paid partnership insights with Facebookâs Business Manager in the âBranded Contentâ tab under âMeasure and Report.â
Getting Started With Paid Partnerships as an Influencer
Once youâve been granted to the feature as an influencer, you can immediately begin tagging businesses in your sponsored posts.
1. If itâs a regular Instagram post, start by selecting âAdvanced Settingsâ on the last page of the new post creation flow. If itâs on Instagram Stories, simply tap the âlinkâ button at the top of the screen.
2. In both cases, youâll now see a new âBranded Contentâ section. Select the âTag Business Partnerâ button.
3. Here youâll be able to search for the business you want to tag in your post or story. If the business requires approval first, once youâve selected them, theyâll appear below in a âRequire Approvalsâ section.
4. Once the business approves you, youâll find them under the âBranded Contentâ section in âAdvanced Settings.â Tapping on their name will add them to your post or story.
Updates to Instagramâs Paid Partnership FeatureÂ
With the expanded rollout of the paid partnership feature in November, Instagram also added a few new capabilities as well.
Specifically, influencers who have access to the branded content toll will now receive in-app notifications when Instagramâs system finds content that falls outside of their policy. In these cases, the influencer will be notified through the Instagram app and will have the option to tag a business.
Basically, these notifications are intended to make it easier to use the âPaid Partnership withâ tag and educate the community on Instagramâs branded content.
Instagram also commented on the future of feature, stating that they hope to offer more flexibility to influencers and businesses that use the tool. âOver time, our goal is to make it simple for all Instagrammers to identify commercial relationships on Instagram.â
While Instagramâs new paid partnership feature may not alone satisfy the FTCâs rules, itâs definitely a great feature for both influencers and businesses! Have you been given access to the feature yet? Let us know in the comments what you think!

âIt Is Happening Again...â
NOTICE: Welcome to Part 2 of my Twin Peaks appreciation! Again, I have tried to avoid concrete spoilers, but if youâre new to the series, the less you know going in, the better. For other fans, welcome.
Over Memorial Day weekend of 2017, it happened. Defying massive skepticism, the unavailability of certain key cast members, and twenty-five years of theories and criticism, David Lynch premiered some of his most confounding and formally audacious work to date, less a season of TV than an eighteen-hour film. It's difficult to know where to start when talking about The Return, because its narrative strands cross and loop and converge in baffling ways. The original series had a relatively straight time-structureâeven Fire Walk With Me fits fairly neatly into the scheme of things. The Return discards all that, taking us from a starless void navigated by a woman with sewn-shut eyes, to Las Vegas and New York, to the Trinity nuclear test.
At times, it seemed like Lynch was waving a giant middle finger at our collective nostalgia. You want Dale Cooper? Here's 'Mr. C.' (McLachlan), the man who emerged from the Black Lodge a quarter-century ago, a snake-eyed, soft-spoken, pitiless crook. Here's 'Dougie Jones' (McLachlan again), a pleasant-enough sort who is nonetheless cheating on his wife with a sex worker. And here, finally, is anti-Cooper (also McLachlan)âdressed in the familiar black suit, with that swoop of dark hair now shot through with silver, utterly unable to navigate the world around him, repeating whatever is said to him in a dreamlike, stilted monotone.
Then again, there were callbacks to the original series that felt like blessings. Deputy 'Hawk' Hill (Michael Horse), gentle as always, talking late into the night with Margaret Lanterman, a.k.a. the Log Lady (Catherine Coulson). Her face and voice ravaged by illness, she seemed desperate to impart her final oracles to a sympathetic ear. (Coulson was in fact suffering from cancer at the time, and succumbed shortly after her scenes were filmed). There was the radiant Shelley Briggs (née Johnson) at the Roadhouse with her girlfriends, defending the lovelorn James Hurley. And best of all, on the primary case, we got ebullient FBI director Gordon Cole (David Lynch) and the curmudgeonly Albert Rosenfield (Miguel Ferrer), cracking wise but full of almost brotherly concern for one another.
Even more pointedly than the original series, The Return grounded its nightmare vision in the quotidian world. A house in a subdivision occupied by a strung-out young woman yelling the same three digits with incantatory force. Another sad-eyed blonde (Amanda Seyfried) in a turbulent relationship with an abusive, sniveling meth-head (Caleb Landry Jones). The handsome, menacing Richard (Eamon Farren), summoning an underage girl to his table at the Roadhouse and then nearly choking her just for kicks. (That scene in particular gave me chillsâI've been in situations like that, where it all seems like a joke until it suddenly, clearly isn't.) In the original series, the rot was concealed under a façade of small-town hygge; in The Return, there is no faïżœïżœade left.
The most exciting kind of show, for me, is one where absolutely anything could happen (frequently, these have been 'genre' shows: Hannibal, Vikings, the UK series Misfits). Going into each episode of The Return, while I certainly had predictions, I never felt like I knew how this hour would unfold. This is a world where the camera lingers for two minutes on a man sweeping sawdust, as "Green Onions" plays in the background. A girl home from a first date sits up in her bedroom, listening to "My Prayer" by The Platters, only to have the broadcast interrupted by a dreadful, sonorous voice speaking a mysterious litany that puts everyone who hears it into a deep sleep. Cars drive down two-lane highways in the darkness, with no signposts and no landmarks. The stage at the Roadhouse is occupied by acts ranging from "The" Nine Inch Nails, to boys with pompadours who sing like Hank Williams formed a trio with the Everlys.
You'll notice, if you're still with me (you trooper, you), that I have not yet mentioned Audrey Horne. In some ways, among the show's die-hard fans, Audrey's mythos loomed even larger than Laura's. Audrey, the brunette in saddle shoes and sweater sets, who shared a lineage with sirens like Lauren Bacall and Rosalind Russellâspunky dames who didn't take any guff, but would melt for the right man. Audrey, last seen chained to a bank vault, shortly before a bomb went off. Yes, I loved her, and was desperate for any hint of her fate. Without venturing any further into spoiler territory than I have already, let me just say I still am.
Yes, sometimes, The Return is downright frustrating. I was along for the ride, but there were a few moments when I considered getting out of the car and, at the very least, taking a breather. But, as with most things, my patience would be rewarded. I wouldn't trade the shenanigans of the Mitcham brothers (plus Candie, the vaguely extraterrestrial showgirl), or the thrill of the twofold reveal of Laura Dern's character, or the fiercely maternal protectiveness of Janey-E Jones (Naomi Watts) for anything. Carl Rodd (Harry Dean Stanton) plaintively singing "Red River Valley" in his relocated trailer court⊠Albert finding a kindred spirit in a sardonic small-town medical examiner (Jane Addams)⊠The adorable British lad, Freddie Sykes (Jake Wardle), who becomes a kind of Sir Gawain of the Green Gardening Glove⊠all these things, and many more, kept winning me back.
Of all the filmmakers working today, Lynch has performed some of the most radical tests of the potential of film as a vehicle for storytelling. Visually, yes, with those vibrant reds and blues, the rich earth tones, and the stark black-and-white of Episode 8. Aurally, with Angelo Badalamentiâs otherworldly music. And perhaps most importantly, psychologicallyâusing our common cultural knowledge and our love of film itself to deepen the context of what weâre seeing. (For an irreverent example, see Albert grumbling, âFuck you, Gene Kelly!â as he makes his way through a freezing downpour.)
And Laura? Well, as the Log Lady so poignantly put it, "Laura is the one." In the end, it all came back to her. In thinking about her character over the course of my acquaintance with the show, I'm reminded of another doomed beauty: Miranda in Picnic at Hanging Rock, who likewise disappears into a realm beyond ours. Like Laura, Miranda seems somehow aware of her fateâindeed, one interpretation that could apply to both girls is that they offered themselves as a sacrifice to the darkness. But that doesn't make their demise any easier to comprehend. Seeing Sheryl Lee let loose her bone-rattling scream for one last time, on the street in front of the house that was, and was not, the Palmer's, hearing the echo of Sarah Palmer call her daughter's name across years and dimensions⊠I mean, a few minutes later, I was leaning against my kitchen cabinets, sobbing. We were left with so many questions. Can you ever really know a person? How do you save someone who doesn't believe they're worth saving?
Oh, and what *was* Jerry Horne smoking?
Did Nadine really mean what she said this time?
Just how did that danged fish get in the percolator?

          SYNOPSIS
What if your life depended on a stranger?
After an incoming storm forces the cancellation of her flight to New York, talented photojournalist Alex Martin finds herself stuck in Idaho the night before her wedding. Scrambling to make it home in time, she hits upon a longshot idea and charters a plane to Denver in the hopes of catching the red-eye to New York that same night. Another stranded passenger, Ben Bass, a skilled British neurosurgeon due back on the East Coast to perform a critical, life-saving operation, tunes out his own misgivings about the plan and joins her.
As Alex and Ben fly ahead of inclement weather in a small Piper two-seater, their pilot suffers a massive stroke, and the small craft crashes in the deep snows of the Uinta Mountains in northeastern Utah. Trapped in the remote region with little hope of rescue, the two weary travelers embark on a terrifying and transformative pilgrimage across the unforgiving reaches of the vast, rugged terrain, fighting against the elements, animals and time. Under the most extreme circumstances imaginable, they gradually learn to trust one another, and a powerful connection grows between themâone that will reshape the course of their lives.
âThe film is suspenseful, well directed, contains incredible cinematography and showcases amazingly talented actors. Itâs a film we will be talking about for months to come. Idris Elba and Kate Winslet are at their best!â   ~~~ Red Carpet View

Post Assignment 4/10Â Naomi Lichter
1) Pentagram.com is the website for the âworldâs largest independently owned design studioâ. They have a fairly small staff for such a distinction; only 23 design partners. Each of which have incredible bodies of work; creating things for Museum of Sex in New York City, Saks Fifth Avenue, and the 2012 London Olympics. The Work page on the Pentagram website is divided into all the industries they have designed for; from fashion and beauty, to non-for-profits, to publishing and real estate, among many others. What they do for their clients is multifaceted; they have projects in film and motion graphics, interiors and architecture, book designs and brand identity, again, among many other capabilities. Below is a bag made for a luxury furniture brand. The designer used a sans serif font to simplify the typography, and added the storeâs furniture as letters to display the products that would be available.Â
2) Core77.com is a design blog that uploads stories about design projects, troubles, and successes around the world. They also have a discussion board where designers can ask other designers questions about work, how to charge their clients, and any other topic they may be curious about. They have a page exclusively for articles that fall under the header, âSEX-TACTULARâ. News about innovative designs for tampons, and the CESâ decision to revoke a sex-toy company, Craveâs nomination for an Innovation Award for a vibrator. The article describes the design industryâs bias; that it can appreciate that sex sells, âeverything except the sort of products that actually empower people to explore and express their sexual wellbeing," said Crave founder, Ti Chang.Â
They also have a focus on sustainable design. An article explores the launch of the âSolar Cowâ in several countries in Africa. The Solar Cow is a solar panel that is shaped like a cow that is placed outside of schools in rural areas and has two objectives worked into the design. First, is to incentivize children to come to school, because the Cow has removable âuddersâ charged with electricity which children can take home. It is by company Yolk, and displayed below.

iâve been on tumblr since i was like 14 or 15 but didnât start this blog until like january or february of this year? something like that

6. why did you choose your icon?
because jin is adorable. can we all just take a moment to look at how cute he is?

pretty much certain itâs drunk in love. but i try not to pay too much mind to the numbers because then i will stress and start to equate that with value and itâs just a mess
9. how many mutuals do you have?
uhhhhhh like an embarrassingly small amount lmao. but i love them all and try to be friends with them!
10. how many followers do you have?
i donât think iâll share this just because i donât want anyone to gain a sense of superiority or inferiority from my follow numbers. tbh i think itâs all a bit meaningless. itâs fun, i just donât want it to be indicative my blogâs success or value. iâll def celebrate blog milestones though! just wonât specify.

Professional Practice - Exhibition - Promotion group & my contribution
The first steps as a group was to get together and write down everything that we were responsible for as the promotion group.
This included:
Flyers/leaflets/posters/banners/billboards/stickers
Social media: Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Tumblr
How to raise our budget (cake sale, crowdfunding/gofundme)
Invites
Social media:
At first we dedicated a social media to each of us as we were a small group, I got given Facebook so I made a Facebook Page which people could âLikeâ. I couldnât put much information on this at first as we were only now starting out and didnât know things like the date and times of the exhibition yet so it was mainly just a title. After speaking to Sarah Packer (who gave us a social media presentation) she said itâd be better to have an Event page on Facebook instead, so I ended up deleting the other page and made an Event page instead. She said this is better as people get notified when itâs close to the exhibition date, also you can invite people and they can RSVP.
I made the Event page public so then everyone could post on the page and invite people themselves, this is because our exhibition is open to everybody. When I had all the correct information up on the event page I started inviting people to it, I did this by sharing it in our class Photography group chat we have on Facebook Messenger, this way people in the class will know about it and can invite their own parents/friends. I also sent the link to all of our lecturers so theyâre aware of it. Somebody else also sent the link to Tima Baird so that she could send it to all staff and students in the uni, students would be the most interested in our show (especially at PCA as weâre an art uni) so this was a good way to get the word out. We also sent an email again to everyone in the uni nearer to the event.
I made the header of the event page part of the flyer with the title, opening night dates and âfirst year photography exhibitionâ on so that people knew a small amount of info and would have to look at the âaboutâ for more specific details. I also posted both sides of the flyers which design created to the page and pinned the post to the top to show all the info again. Nearer to the event all of us in the promotion group would share the event to our friends and also post in the discussion bit to remind people of what time the exhibition is on that night.
Invites:
For invites we didnât write down a list of people we wanted to invite as we wanted the exhibition to be open to the public as well as our family and friends. This was more of a whole group decision instead of just promotion. At first I made the event page private but then made another which was public, this was easier as anyone could invite people to it instead of just me.
Leaflets/posters:
For quite a while we had to wait around as we relied a lot on design before we could get much done as we needed a logo/font/posters/flyers to show on social media as well. Once design had created some posters and flyers we got them printed out through Kieranne as she used to work for somebody who does printing so she could get it done cheaper. These were then distributed around the college and in various shops/cafes which are aimed at students. It was Kieranne and Naomiâs job to do this.
Budget:
The budget was originally meant to be our responsibility but was later put onto the curation group. This was because we decided to donate ÂŁ10 each towards the exhibition ourselves instead of raising money as it was a bit too late to plan a cake sale. The curation group decided that if people didnât pay the ÂŁ10 they wouldnât be allowed their work to be exhibited. If did have to raise it ourselves it would have been the promotion groups responsibility to do a cake sale or set up a gofundme/crowdfunder if needed.
Other:
As well as creating/maintaining the Facebook event page, I also helped with setting up the exhibition on Friday the 12th. I helped clean the boards, window sills and walls of St. Saviours. I also helped stick adhesive foam to the backs of the pictures and held a few peoples images up in place whilst others measured out the space.
Some photographs setting up and cleaning for the exhibition (all photos by Pete & Robyn):
My photographs put up ready for the exhibtion (the two on the left).
