Goldman Sachs' new managing-director list is out — and it's the largest class in the firm's history (GS)

Goldman Sachs announced its largest-ever class of managing directors.

Of the 509 promoted, 44% are millennials.

The firm announces managing-director promotions every two years.

It's one of the most coveted positions on Wall Street, a step below partner at the premier investment bank.

Goldman Sachs just announced a new class of 509 managing directors — the largest class in the firm's history.

The position is one of the most coveted on Wall Street, one step below partner at the prestigious investment-banking firm. The firm now has 2,148 managing directors, making up 7.1% of the company's workforce.

It's also one of the youngest classes the bank has promoted — 44% are millennials, up from 30% in 2015.

Other headline stats about the class:

66% started their careers as analysts or associates at Goldman Sachs.

24% of the class is women, down from 25% in 2015.

130 were promoted in the securities division, up from 102 in 2015.

101 were promoted in investment banking, up from 97 in 2015.

52 were promoted in technology, up from 38 in 2015.

Eight were promoted in consumer and commercial banking — the division that houses the bank's online-lending business, Marcus — compared with zero in 2015.

The Goldman Sachs Group, Inc. (NYSE: GS) today announced that it has selected a new class of Managing Directors, effective from January 1, 2018, the start of the firm's next fiscal year.

Si eres amante de la cultura Hot Rod y de sus peculiares vehículos deberías saber que durante el próximo día 8 de diciembre tendrá lugar una subasta muy especial en los Estados Unidos. En concreto, será el Petersen Automotive Museum de Los Ángeles el lugar escogido para celebrar un evento en el que cinco sugerentes ejemplares acapararán todo el protagonismo.

Encabezando la lista nos encontramos con un Ford cupé “Lloyd Bakan” de 1932, un modelo que puede presumir de un largo historial de logros entres los que destacan las primeras planas de algunas de las revistas más importantes del sector, como la edición de noviembre de 1956 de "Rod & Custom", la portada de octubre de 1957 de "Hot Rod Magazine" y el título "Best in Class" de 2007 en el famoso Pebble Beach Concurso de Elegancia. Su estimación es de 400.000 dólares, es decir, unos 350.000 euros al cambio.

Petersen Automotive Museum Hosting RM Sotheby’s Auction December 7th-8th

The Petersen Automotive Museum will host an RM Sotheby’s auction on December 8, 2018, marking the first time the museum has been the location for an auction since its $90-million remodel in 2015. Topping the list of exceptional cars offered is an assortment of historically significant period-correct customs and Southern California hot rods, harkening back to the Hot Rod magazine empire built by Petersen Publishing founder and namesake Robert E. Petersen more than 70 years ago.

Headlining this selection is the 1932 Ford “Lloyd Bakan” Coupe. The car’s long list of accomplishments includes a feature in the November 1956 issue of Rod & Custom, the October 1957 cover of Hot Rod and the 2007 Historic Hot Rod “Best in Class” award at the Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance. With a low estimate of $400,000, the iconic hot rod will draw serious attention as it falls under the hammer.

Among other customs and hot rods on offer will be a recreation of “Big Daddy” Roth’s Mysterion a fully documented, functional and drivable version of the original Roth creation completed in 1962. The car will be the first offered at the auction after the sale of a unique selection of art and memorabilia, which ties in with the museum’s “Auto-Didactic: The Juxtapoz School” exhibit currently open in the Armand Hammer Foundation Gallery.

Lot 171, a 1927 Ford Model T Track-Nose Roadster, is an exceptional period-built Southern California hot rod by builder Jack Thompson. It is a quintessential early American hot rod in both style and performance, benefitting from the craftsmanship and creativity of early hot rod pioneers like Claude Hampson, Tony Nancy and Art Summers. The car has been featured in several early magazines and has a long, rich provenance.

Peter Stengel’s 1941 Mercury custom by Coachcraft, which was a design and engineering marvel among custom cars of its era, captures early California custom car culture better than almost any other. Modifications were completed in 1941—the same year the car rolled off the factory floor. Nearly every panel on the body was altered from original including its unique three-piece roof, which made the car a coupe, roadster or convertible depending on the driver’s mood. It is also a rare example of a pre-war custom, crafted by a Southern California coachbuilder known for its work on custom-bodied touring cars fashioned for the Hollywood stars of that era.

A custom 1940 Mercury coupe by Rudy Rodriguez will also be offered at the auction as part of the famous Herb Wetanson collection. This particular car is a recent build styled after the chopped and lowered Mercury customs popularized in the early issues of Hot Rod, Car Craft and Rod & Custom.
