What exactly is the chaos dragon slayer au and how can I start following the story? Where does this begin?
Ooff, okay. I'm not good at explaining stuff, but I'll try to make it understandable 🫡 here we go! I think it started from a fanfic writer from wattpad who wrote the story. (I don't remember who the original author/idea was, though)
Warning : There will be a lot of OOC and confusing content in this AU. It has too many variations
The very first version (the one I read for the first time) is "Tamer Of Chaos. (New Version)" by Primsgirl89 on wattpad. This story is discontinued sadly, but it is the gateway of this AU (probably).
These fanfics are mostly on wattpad, but you can also find it on AO3 and FanFiction.Net
I'll summarize some bits in the story you should know, depending on the multiple variations of this au I have read so far.
Natsu was raised by Acnologia instead of Igneel, therefore his magic is called "chaos" from Acnologia's title (Black Dragon of the Apocalypse). His personality is very much the opposite. Rude, vicious, doesn't give a **** about anything, etc. Happy is still his exceed but really just hangs out with him most of the time.
Lucy (oh boy) has like a lot of version of personalities based on what background she comes from. There's one where she is a fire dragon slayer raised by Igneel instead, or some kind of celestial dragon slayer, or a very timid person, or a hot-headed, or the overly optimistic, or even as her OG self, etc.
Gray, Erza and the whole FT Guild either is the same in the OG or openly hates Natsu, or be an acquaintance at least, or even frenemies, etc.
Markarov and Wendy (So far) is still the same in the OG but slightly different is all.
Some versions portrayed Lisanna as a *****, but not many. (tbh I don't like this part at all)
Most of this AU follows the OG story flow, with a twist of course and sometimes a different one entirely. There will be OC characters and villains included as well as rare friendly pairs. It's quite interesting tbh.
Natsu for some reason is okay with Lucy, either because she is not afraid of him or she treats him differently then others. (he has his own personal reasons as well, though I never understand most of it)
I don't know what else to explain. Sorry if the explanation is kind of messy. If you still have more questions, feel free to let me know. I don't mind answering them.
I'll give you links of the fanfics that I follow for my chaos AU and my personal favourites. (there is no specific order)
Tamer Of Chaos. (New Version) *Discontinued
Chaos and Salamander *Complete
Fairy Tail : Chaos and Fire *Discontinued
Chaos' Treasure *On going
Calming the Chaos *last update on 2020
Tumblr media
I probably read most of the fanfics for this AU

___
It was a Sunday when Lucy had shown up at Natsu’s door with a bottle of Johnnie Walker in her hand. The sun was setting and Jackal had left to the pokies where he probably wouldn’t return until sunrise. The man usually stumbling into the house at five in the morning and reeking of booze - Lucy always quiet when she passed the man who had collapsed onto the couch, not even making it to the bed, as she left for work.
She had been hiding in their bedroom since Thursday when he had struck her. Sitting there idle, or escaping in a book to avoid speaking to him. Yet, as she had heard the front door slamming closed and the screech of his car wheels, Lucy had sent the man who set her alight a quick text. Tonight she would lay with him again - drown herself in him to forget. The addiction called her in and she would get her fix.
Natsu grinned as he opened the door, his eyes meeting the beautiful blonde in her white sundress. However, the smile didn’t last long as his eyes soon widened when he saw the bottle of scotch.
“Lucy, what do-” he started, but she cut him off as she strode into his house and made her way to the kitchen. She left the bottle on the counter top as she then began to search through his cupboard, not looking far till she found the shot glasses on the top shelf.
He eyed her up and down as she popped the lid off and poured the brown liquid into the glass, a teasing smile creeping up on his face as she downed the alcohol - her eyes immediately squeezing shut as she grimaced.
“You know that shit is meant to be mixed, right?” he asked.
Lucy let out a gasp of air as the scotch finished burning her throat. “It’s stronger this way, and right now that’s all I care about.” Her brown eyes came back up to the pink haired man as he leaned on the opposite side of the bench, her response rising a chuckle from her friend.
“My, my,” Natsu began as he poured his own shot, “I never knew a lady like yourself would be acting in such a way.” He smirked as he copied her quirk to talk proper, causing the blonde to narrow her eyes at him. After he threw back the shot, his dark eyes peered down at her. “But that stuffs weak. If ya really wanna get smashed then you should have some of this.”
Natsu walked to his cabinet, opening up the doors to let Lucy see a wide variety of alcohol. There was fat bottles, some skinny, and only a few that she could name - the popular brands. He sifted through to the back where he pulled out a tall green bottle. The blonde peered at the label as Natsu continued to pull out another bottle, the writing reading Green Fairy in bold.
“This shit is fucking awful let me tell you.” Natsu placed the green bottle on the table alongside Sailors Vodka. “Though, I wouldn't recommend mixing the two together, but take your pick, Princess.”
Lucy grabbed the green bottle, her lips coming up into a questioning pout as she twisted off the cap. “So, together they’ll get me drunk?”
“Truly fucked,” he confirmed, his canines glinting at her as he grinned.
“Well, I guess I’m gonna be fucked then,” she sighed as she then took the Sailors Vodka as well and poured them both into the glass.
“You sure you want to do this?”
“Absolutely.”
Lucy made a nervous smile as she brought the glass to her lips then without a second thought, she downed the concoction, before she was bent over in a fit of coughing - her mouth salivating as it tried to soothe the sting of the burn. Natsu let out a bellow of laughter.
She barely heard him as she pushed herself to the sink and spat, quickly washing her mouth with water as Natsu turned on the tap.
“Fucking hell, Lucy,” he nearly cried as he rubbed her back, the blonde spitting the water back into the sink, “And ta think I thought you were the smart one.”
Her brown eyes came up to glare at him as she wiped her mouth. “You could’ve given me a warning,” she growled as she stood back up, her tongue still tingling from the lingering alcohol.
“I did!” he laughed, “And it’s not my fault if you couldn’t handle it.”
Lucy stared him down before the bottles on the bench caught her eye. “It’s your turn.”
“Yeah.” Natsu scoffed as he rolled his eyes. “You really think that I-”
But Lucy was already whispering under her breath, “Pussy..” and that was all it took before Natsu was raising the glass with the same death drink to his chapped lips for a small sip. His eyes nearly bugged as he immediately choked.
“Oh.” Lucy smirked. “It seems someone else can’t handle their liquor either, huh?”
Natsu gave her his own dirty look as an argument was already leaving his lips, “It went down the wrong hole and you know it!”
“Bottoms up then, Dragneel,” Lucy grinned, her voice holding that teasing lilt that made his eyebrows narrow and the fires of a challenge light in his eyes.
He tipped the glass down before she could blink.
“Let’s try it again,” Natsu stated as he turned back to his shelf of alcohol, “but this time with something absolutely toxic.” He grabbed bottles left and right before returning to her, the fire truly raging as he mixed this and that with a little bit of something else.
“Whoever pussies out first has to give the other fifty bucks.”
Lucy eyed him as he handed her the shot of several different alcoholic drinks.
He raised a brow as she hesitated, the beginnings of a smirk pulling at the side of his lips. Lucy didn’t care about losing some cash but giving bragging rights to Natsu Dragneel? Never would she let herself see the day, and so she took the shot from him.
“Deal.”
That’s what lead them on the downward spiral.
It didn’t take long for the giggles to kick in. Their voices no longer inside one's as they began to put each in hysterics - mainly Lucy as she listened to him tell his work stories with his friend Gray. She couldn’t believe that two people could be so close yet despise being in each others presence.
Though, the drinking game was forgotten when Natsu turned on the stereo. He took Lucy by the hand and shook her so hard she thought she might puke. It wasn’t like any music she was used to, the way Natsu made her body - the twist and turns feeling awkward. Yet, he didn’t seem to mind her stiff moves and only laughed as she nearly collapsed on his dingy couch.
Rock n Roll was not something she was used to, but she liked it - like most things she found with Natsu. He was so far from her world. She had never even seen a house that was so small when she first came home with him. He didn’t work a nine to five or even drive a real car. He had tattoos that had no reason and were placed hazardously around his body. However, she didn’t mind. The way he lived…  It was enthralling. Lucy guessed that’s why she was so drawn to him.
He was freedom, whereas she had always been stuck in a cage.
It wasn’t until hours later when a different sort of tune played that they finally slowed down.
“Johnny Cash? Seriously? My dad used to listen to this stuff,” Lucy asked as she plopped down beside him, lazily leaning into his side as she tried to stop her spinning head.
“What?” Natsu seemed surprised as his eyes drifted down to the top of her blonde head. “You’re telling me you don’t like it?”
Lucy turned, her big brown eyes shining and hazy whilst she pursed her lips and listened to the familiar tune of the song. It wasn’t one that her father played often, but she still knew it.
“I don’t know. It’s a little sad.” She answered truthfully and Natsu was shaking his head as he stood up again from the couch. Lucy blinked at him, but he only stuck his hand out for her to take.
It only took her a second before she placed her hand in his.
“I suppose you’re right,” Natsu stated as he pulled her close to him, “But that doesn’t mean it isn’t a beautiful song. I mean, come on-”
He grabbed her waist as he interlaced their fingers, slowly swaying their bodies as he stared into her eyes.
“Natsu!”
“You are my sunshine,” Natsu sung as a grin made its way up his lips, “My only sunshine. You make me happy when skies are grey.” He moved their hands as they took wobbly steps around his living room, which Lucy assumed was meant to be some type of slow dance. Their gazes were locked as he sang the lyrics and she couldn’t help her own smile that pulled it’s way up her lips, or the pink blush that started to rise in her cheeks.
“You’ll know dear how much I love you.” His voice was rough and deep. The words falling from his lips easily and practiced. She couldn’t help herself as she leaned closer to him and their movements slowed to soft rocking back and forth. Natsu did the same, his dark eyes showing flecks of green as they got closer and closer. His hand released hers and brought it to push her long blonde hair from her face and Lucy couldn’t help the itch of anticipation in her stomach as he brought his lips down to hers. She closed her eyes.
“Please, don’t take my sunshine awa- Lucy?”
He paused and her eyes fluttered open.
Natsu’s eyes weren’t on her own anymore. Instead they were drawn downwards towards her upper arm - where her hair usually fell past her shoulders. She already knew what he was looking at before he asked his question and she could barely keep down the panic that was rising in her chest.
“What is that? A bruise?” His fingers left her hair and grabbed her arm softly, carefully inspecting the faded yellow bruising on her skin. “What happened?”
Lucy was already shaking her head. “It’s nothing. Just bumped into the door frame.”
“Lucy, that’s a...”
Handprint.
She knew what he was going to say. She knew that he would recognise it for what it really was. Yet, she still lied. It wasn’t like she could actually tell him the truth. As far as Natsu knew she was single - she didn’t have anyone else in her life and that’s why started what they had. To make up for the lack of intimacy in both their lives.
He didn’t know that she was married. He didn’t know that her husband hit her. He didn’t know that the real reason she visited him was to forget.
Her eyes turned from his concerned one's, his mouth in a firm line as he watched her carefully. She had to get out of here.
“It’s late,” Lucy started and her eyes unconsciously flickered to the clock on the wall. “I should probably get home.”
Natsu blinked and he dropped her arm quickly. “Uh, y-yeah.”
She grabbed her bag before she made her way to the door with Natsu’s eyes on her the entire time, his face morphed into something perplexed that Lucy was too scared to decipher. Her hands shook slightly by her sides and she didn’t realise she was holding her breath as her hand reached for the door knob, her fingers seconds away from opening up her escape.
“You can tell me anything. You know that. Don’t you, Lucy?”
Her entire body froze at his words - her hand stilling.
“Lucy?”
She turned her head, a forced smile making its way up her lips before she met his gaze. “Aw, come on, Natsu. What ever happened to leaving feelings out of this, hm?” She winked before she turned back and didn’t waste any time as she flung the front door open.
Lucy already had a foot out the door as he scoffed. “Right.”
Yet, she didn’t turn around and she kept walking until she got to her car where she started it up and reversed out of his driveway. It wasn’t until she pulled up in front of her own house, when she turned off the ignition and looking at herself in the rear view mirror that Lucy screamed, her head falling on the steering wheel as sobs wracked her body.

“...who are you looking at?” Cana grinned as Lucy stared blankly out of their classroom window, her eyes trained on one very specific figure. She was currently working with the brunette and two of their other friends during a self-study period, their desks all pushed together in a square.
“The new kid,” Lucy sighed without paying much attention to what she was really saying. “I think I want him to do me.”
“L-Lucy!” Erza blushed a dark red, Levy quick to slap her hands over the blonde’s lips. Cana roared with laughter at the thoughtless confession, the succubus entering a wide-eyed panic as she fully gathered her thoughts.
“Ah, it’s always so fun to hear you when you’re not paying attention,” The oracle snickered as the pixie carefully removed her hands.
“When was the last time you ate, Lu-chan? It’s not like you to space out so much,” Levy asked, worry filling her gaze.
“Loke gave me a kiss almost a month ago...it was enough to get me through midterms,” She sighed, still staring at the class currently in p.e. “Strawberries are starting to lose their effect too, I feel hungry more often,”
“That’s not good,” Erza frowned, the heat in her cheeks still present as she spoke. “I want you to eat too, but as the student council president, I don’t think I can allow you to attack anyone even f—“
“I’m not going to attack him!” Lucy whined, covering her face out of embarrassment. “I just...he’s just...it’s his fault!”
“Oh, did he hit on you? Or did you see him shirtless? Ooo, does he smell good? C’mon, details!” Cana ebbed, grinning as the blonde shyly offered an explanation.
“He was fighting Gray and I saw his horns come out,” Lucy fwahed, drooling a bit as she thought back to the moment. “I know he’s a dragon and I just—he looks so powerful, I wanna tas—“
“I think we got it,” Levy cleared her throat as she slapped another hand over Lucy’s mouth.
“So his horns got to you?” Cana grinned as she leaned in closer. “Think they’re as thick as his dick?”
“C-Cana!!”
The new student, Lucy couldn’t get him out of her head.
He joined the school during the beginning of their spring semester in the classroom down the hall. A lot of girls thought he was cute at first, sexy even. But he turned out to be too loud and an obnoxious hassle that seemed hellbent on challenging anyone to a fight.
He’d apparently known the ice devil, Gray, when they were younger and was related to Gajeel, Levy’s boyfriend.
So even though he was close with some of Lucy’s friends, she still didn’t have much of a chance to approach him. She made it a goal to try and avoid men when her hunger was slipping.
And she especially wanted to avoid him.
It was a total by chance incident; Lucy was finishing some paperwork in the student council room one day after school. As the treasurer, she had to finish approving some club budgets and ended up staying late.
“Take that, you slimy lizard!” She heard Gray’s familiar voice shout from the courtyard as she began to leave the school.
“Oh yeah? Bring it on, ice for breath!” The new kid shouted back, the two of them scuffling in karate gi’s nearby.
Lucy yelped when she saw him light up in flames, kicking the devil off of him and standing with a wickedly sinister grin. She could see his skin turn to scales and horns begin to sprout from underneath his strangely pink hair.
Her footsteps slowed at the sight of his wide back, breath suddenly shallow as her heart pumped wildly. A familiar feeling bubbled in the pit of her stomach, awakening the desire she’d long since suppressed.
He looked strong...
And yikes, she had a thing for horns.
She’d seen horns before, what kind of kink was this?! Maybe it was just his horns, but god did she want to grab them and ride him like a—
Nope.
No.
She was not having sex.
She couldn’t! Even though he looked strong and she did wonder if his horns were as thick as his—
This wasn’t going to happen. One hundred percent nope.
“Juvia...” Lucy began with an excited voice, opening the door to greet her friend, only to have it falter into a light whisper. The two planned to study together this evening as their parents had gone out of town for a couple of days. It also provided the excuse for Juvia to come over and eat Lucy’s cooking for dinner, but she wouldn’t say anything about that.
“Juvia thought it would be fun to have others over for dinner too! Gray-sama and Natsu-san needed help studying too, Juvia hopes Lucy-san doesn’t mind.” Juvia said as the blonde moved aside to allow the three in.
“O-Oh, no, no problem. My pleasure,” Lucy forced a smile and tried to hold her breath as the boy with pink hair walked in.
‘Ah...his horns! They’re so little! And hidden in his hair, how cute!’
“Thanks for having us over,” Gray said as Lucy led them into her living room, the three taking a seat at her coffee table. “Gildarts said he’d give us remedial lessons for the rest of the year if we didn’t pass this next test,”
“You can count on me, English is my best subject,” Lucy said, pulling Juvia with her as she made up a quick excuse. “I’ll—we’ll be right back, just going to check on dinner. I hope you like beef stew!”
“What’s wrong, Lucy-san? Juvia thinks you’re acting a bit strange...are you not feeling alright?” The siren asked as Lucy leaned against her kitchen counter in dramatic agony.
“Why did you have to bring him here...I can’t deal with that guy!” She whined, clutching onto the blunette as she sobbed.
“Natsu-san? Does Lucy-san not like him?” Juvia asked as Lucy shook her head.
“I’m crazy about him, if he’s too close I really think I’ll jump him,” She sighed, clutching her stomach as it began cramping with a delirious heat. “I’ve been hungry for a while now, and he makes me feel even worse,”
“Eh?! Why wouldn’t you tell Juvia something like that sooner?!” She gasped. “Juvia wouldn’t have brought him in, maybe Juvia should ask him to leave.”
“N-No, I think I can manage,” Lucy chewed on her lip, rummaging through the fridge to pull out her stash of fresh berries. “I want to help him if he’s stuck on the homework,”
“Alright, but tell Juvia if it gets to be too much and we’ll leave,”
Juvia understood her struggle in a similar way since the two of them were both creatures who thrived by the consumption of lewd energy. The siren was lucky to have met Gray, a person powerful enough to keep up with her and provide his strength when she needed some.
They returned to the separate room where the two boys exchanged heated glares, the room beginning to clash between hot and cold temperatures as they stared at one another.
“What are—“
“Shush, staring eye contest! Loser has to go get dessert at the good convenient store down by the school.” Gray hissed as he narrowed his gaze at the other boy who was steaming to win.
“As if I’m going to lose to you, ice tits!” The pink-haired boy grinned as he held a fierce stare. “Don’t forget, I like their chili mango popsicles,”
“You’re the one who better remember that I like their triple frozen chocolate shake sticks,” He shot back, the girls already groaning at their behavior.
“This got old when it was just Gray and Gajeel,” Lucy shook her head, flinching as their competitive egos raised to another level. Whenever he got serious it seemed as though on cue, the horns would sprout from his head.
‘So cute...crap, why is that so cute?!’
“Gray-sama, we came here to study,” Juvia whined, leaning against the table as she tried to steal his attention. It worked, the devil weak to the pouty look of his girlfriend, cringing when the new kid whooped and jumped up with a grin.
“Darn it...”
“I win! Alright, get a move on, we’ll wait for you while you get the good stuff,” He grinned, motioning for Gray to leave.
“Fine...” He grumbled, snatching Juvia’s hand as he made his way towards the door. “You made me lose so you’re coming with me,”
“E-Eh?! Wait, Gray-sama, Juvia can’t—“
Lucy blanched as the front door slammed closed, a shiver crawling up her spine as her fear sunk in.
“I’m Natsu! I don’t think we’ve ever met,” The boy grinned, his horns now back and tucked under his hair.
“L-Lucy,” She gulped and flashed a quick smile, avoiding his handshake as she sat down instead. “Do you want to get started before they come back? Dinner should be ready by then too,”
“You alright? You look kinda shaky.” Natsu asked, frowning as she only answered with a rapid nod and the flipping of pages through her textbook.
“Hey, if I made you uncomfortable, I’m sorry. I’m not really used to makin’ friends with girls,” He said sheepishly, rubbing the back of his neck with a pained smile.
“O-Oh no! That’s not it at all!” Lucy said quickly, feeling her heart thump as his smile twisted sweetly. “It’s just me, I’m not feeling all that well.”
“Really? You shouldn’t be cooking and studyin’ if ya feel sick,” He pouted. “Sure you don’t want to get some rest?”
“I-I’m okay, thank you,”

Chapter Five: Run, Run
ao3 | ff.net
“I’ve decided you’re going to perform with me next week at Fairy Tail!”
For a full ten seconds, Lucy just started at him. Honestly, he looked so sincere with his one hand resting on his hip while the other nearly poked her in the nose that she almost just said yes through sheer force of his will. But as the words slowly registered and took meaning in her thoughts, the only reaction she could give them was to laugh. “No, I’m not,” she said, rolling her eyes and turning back away from him to place the book on the shelf. “What pat of ‘I don’t play anymore’ did you just completely miss?”
Natsu huffed. “I didn’t miss anything,” he grumbled, letting his hand fall to his side once more. “And I’m not askin’. You’re gonna play with me. It’s decided.”
“You can decide all you want,” Lucy said, still laughing a little at the absurdity of it all. Her? Perform at a bar? Her father would strangle her dead if he found out about that. “I’m not doing it because I don’t play anymore. I haven’t played since I was 17, and that’s not about to change just because you decided something.”
“Give me one good reason why you can’t.”
Lucy paused, turning back towards him with a frown. “Excuse me?” she said, laugh dying on her lips now. “Why should I?”
He had that insufferable little grin back, eyes twinkling with what she could only assume meant danger. “Because otherwise I’m just gonna keep bugging you about it,” he said. Natsu shoved his hands into his pockets, looking up at her expectantly. “Well, out with it. One good reason, and I’ll never ask again.”
She rolled her eyes a little, hopping off the stool. Natsu moved out of her way, but kept himself closer than she would have guessed a near stranger to feel comfortable with. “I don’t have to give you any reason other than ‘I don’t want to,’” she finally told him, hooking an elbow around the spreader of the stool to hoist it up. “Or are you always these pushy with people you barely know?”
Again, she heard Natsu huff. Lucy didn’t look back at him, somewhat awkwardly pushing the cart around the shelf and onto the next one a few stacks away. “Come on,” he whined, and she didn’t need to look back to hear the eye roll that followed. “You obviously have a nice instrument. Why not use it?”
“I just don’t, alright?” Her tone took on a sharper note than she intended, causing her to pause a little. Perhaps she was more like her father than she had realized. Lucy took a slow breath, turning back to face him. “I gave it up for a reason, and just because it unceremoniously found its way back into my life, doesn’t mean I intend on playing again. I’ve done just fine without it the last five years, thank you very much.” Natsu didn’t say anything, but he also didn’t leave her cart as she took her place back on the stool. Without thinking about it, she pointed out which book she needed next, and he carefully handed it to her without arguing.
For a few moments, it almost seemed as if he had given up on his mission to force her back into playing, but just as they once more reached the edge of the shelf, he finally spoke up, “It’ll be fun.” Lucy turned to him, eyebrows disappearing behind her bangs.
To her surprise, Natsu had taken on an almost sheepish look, mouth hidden by his scarf while he avoided eye contact. “Don’t you think? Getting back to the music without the bad stuff you left behind?”
Lucy blinked a few times, not quite sure what to say. Had she not been lamenting just earlier today about leaving behind the good when she fled from the bad? She turned away, tongue swiping across the back of her teeth as she tried to think of the right way to respond. Compared to earlier, Natsu seemed much more subdued, as if he was actually trying to ask her rather than simply demand. “Sure. It probably would be,” she finally admitted with a shrug. “But I’m still not going to agree to anything.”
This time, there was no huff. No dramatic whine or insistent request for a good reason why not. Natsu just watched her, half his face still hidden behind his scarf and eyebrows pulled together. “Don’t you miss the music?” he asked, voice going soft.
Again, Lucy found herself at a loss for words. No one had ever seemed to understand her connection to the music before. Not the judges that praised her technical skill, or her father who forced perfection. To her, it had never been about any of that. It had always just been about the music.
But with the music came the memories, and the nightmares, and the twinges of pain across her knuckles.
“Of course I do. But that still isn’t enough to convince me to play with you next week.”
Though she tried to make it sound final, Natsu was persistent. He continued arguing with her throughout the rest of her work shift, alternating between why not and whined please’s. With each attempt her made, Lucy rebutted with a firmer ‘no’ than the one before, refusing to relent to this. Even for the music. Even for someone who understood the importance of the music. Nothing he could offer her would be enough to convince her to play again after she had spent half a decade untangling herself from the fame. If Natsu knew she had been famous, it never came up and for that, Lucy was grateful.
Not grateful enough to change her mind. But grateful. And by the time she was walking out of the library, Natsu still following after her with an increasingly high pitched whine, her decision had never felt more solid.
“Alright, alright,” Lucy said, coming to a stop at the first crosswalk outside of the library. “You’ve made your case, and did so very adamantly. But my answer is still no. I’m not playing again, not ever.” He huffed, crossing his arms against his chest. “I mean it. It’s never going to happen, so you might as well give up.”
The crosswalk chimed at her that she was safe to walk, and Lucy didn’t hesitate, expecting to hear him walking beside her as he had been the whole afternoon. When she didn’t, she silently rejoiced in her apparent victory, sighing a little in relief.
“Lucy.”
At the sound of her name, she stopped - right in the middle of the street. Lucy turned, brushing some hair out of her eyes as the breeze picked up around them. Natsu stood at the corner still, hands shoved in his pocket and scarf tail fluttering behind him a little. To her surprise, he had a grin on his face. “I’ll see you next week. Be at Fairy Tail at about 5-PM and we can practice some. I’ll find the sheet music for the song I wanna play and shove it under your door, alright?”
Without another word, he turned on his heel and left her standing dumbstruck in the middle of the street.
Lucy stared after him, mouth slightly agape at the strange turn of events - after all that, and he hadn’t heard a word of it! Red splotches appeared on her cheeks, and she considered for just a second calling back to him to angrily remind him that she was most certainly not going to be there at 5-PM or any time next week no matter what he thought. However, a car horn startled her back to reality, and she hastily crossed back over, practically stomping the rest of the way back to her apartment.
As soon as the door was shut behind her, she let out an aggravated noise and flopped onto the sofa. Plue lifted his head to watch her for a bit before stretching out and joining her, tail wagging despite her clear irritation. After a seconds of pouting, Lucy finally gave in and ran a hand across the top of his head, scratching behind his ears the way he liked. “It’s ridiculous,” she told him. “In, like, two days, all the work I did to get away from that part of my life has completely come undone. Next thing I know, it’ll be Cana and Levy coming over with recording equipment to put me on Youtube or something outrageous.”
She said it in jest, but a small shiver zigzagged down her back anyways. Lucy groaned, head falling back against the couch as she tried to push the nasty thought aside. It wasn’t happening. Absolutely, positively, under no circumstances.
And yet…the idea was tempting. Like Cana had said, it’d certainly be one hell of a way to get back at her father for the years of pain and reluctant perfection. She knew that he wanted to come back, was certain that the only reason he wanted her to get the violin now after all these years when he could definitely have continued holding onto it was because he hoped that having mama’s violin staring at her from a corner of her room would force her back into playing. As if that had been the real reason she managed to break away from it.
Jude just didn’t get it. No one did, not even her friends. It wasn’t about wanting to get away from the music or distance herself from her mother; it had always been about making her own choices. All her adolescence, her father had dictated her every move. What she wore, who she saw, what pieces she performed. This wonderful thing that she shared so lovingly with her mother had deteriorated down into nothing, and Lucy didn’t think that a few years away was enough to reforge that. Not when her mother was long since dead and the memories she had of playing were so irreversibly tainted. Lucy sighed, rubbing the corners of her eyes as she tried to push it away.
Natsu was not going to get into her head like this. Not after she had finally found some semblance of peace in merely having the instrument back in her possession again. She wouldn’t allow it.
From her bag, Lucy heard the soft rumble of her phone vibrating and somewhat reluctantly fished through it to find it, expecting the worst.
  From: Levy
(16:03) Okay okay so I talked to Lisanna a little bit more about girls night, and she’s actually free tonight if that’s alright with you!
(16:03) I know it’s last minute, but Saturday’s are like the only time any of us can get together anymore, so she kind of jumped right on it, you know? Erza’s free too, so it’ll be a party!
(16:04) But I know your schedule is usually kinda busy, so if you can’t, then we can definitely schedule something for next week instead!
Lucy stared at the messages for a second, trying to remember what she was talking about. Oh, right. Girls night. With Lisanna and the mysterious Erza person they kept mentioning. She glanced at the time and scowled a little; definitely short notice. But, maybe a night with her friends and some potential friends was just what she needed to get herself back out of this funk her dad’s text message had sent her into.
 To: Levy
(16:06) Definitely last second! But, I’m down! Had kind of a stressful day at work, so I can definitely use some down time.
(16:07) Oh, fantastic! I’ll let everyone know! Cana’s dad is out of town for the weekend again, so I think we could probably go there? I’ll double check and let you know.
(16:07) Sorry about work, btw! Hope it wasn’t too serious.
(16:07) Whoever told Natsu where I work is getting strangled tonight.
(16:09) Uhh….
(16:09) Well it wasn’t NOT me?
(16:10) He said he wanted to apologize for something!
Lucy groaned a little, smacking her forehead against the device once. Good, well natured Levy, ratting her right out.
(16:11) Yeah, well, he apologized which was nice, and then proceeded to make the rest of his time there a problem.
(16:11) I can tell you more about it later, since I’m certain Cana will want to hear all about it.
(16:12) Ah…yeah, I’m sure she will. Sorry!!!
Setting the phone back onto the couch, Lucy looked around her apartment. Probably just a few hours of peace before they’d be meeting up. Already, her mind was running ahead with the things she’d need to do — pack an overnight bag, take Plue out, ask the landlady a few floors down to check on him before she went to bed, check the violin…
Lucy blinked, thoughts stopping shorting. She most certainly did not need to check the violin. It was safely in its case, hidden in the corner of her closet that she didn’t often check.
But, like Natsu’s piano melody, the thought persisted even as she tried to force it away. She had been rather forceful when she had shoved it back in here, what if something jostled it? Lucy bit her lip, reminding herself that the case her father had purchased for that violin was far, far too good a case to fail just because she didn’t gently set it down.
If mama knew you had treated it so carelessly, she’d be heartbroken.
The thought came unwanted, and Lucy groaned loudly as she pushed herself up. “Fine! One check! One check to make sure nothing happened, and then it’s going gently back into the closet,” she announced to no one in particular, stormed through the living room and into her bedroom. Still huffing a little, she slid open the closet door and rifled around for a second before she found the handle and pulled it back out in one fluid motion.
Once it had been extracted, she moved a little more carefully to set it on her bed, fingers running across the latches for a second. It had been five years since she’d seen it; could she handle doing this again?
Taking a deep breath, and knowing she was being beyond ridiculous on every front, Lucy hooked her thumbs under the latch and carefully pulled them up, almost reverently lifting the case open and guiding it back onto the bed.
Inside sat the worlds most precious instrument. Lucy let her eyes rake over it hungrily, remembering every single minor detail - every slight dip in the wood, every swirled pattern. The top curves were still a little lighter than the bottom, the dashes on the f-holes still worn down to almost nothing at all. Once, this had been her entire world. The world could only start when she played music, after all. Lucy let her fingertips run across the smooth wood, closing her eyes at the familiarity of it all.
When she was very little, her mother had sat her down in her music room and introduced her to it. It was an old friend, she had said. Passed down through her family for generations for nearly 400 years. Lucy could still remember the gentleness of her mothers eyes as she picked the violin up to show her how it was properly held, remembered the way her whole body leaned forward that first time she plucked a string to show her what sound it made. Lucy had been enraptured from that very moment, unable and unwilling to look away from the worlds most beautiful woman holding the worlds most beautiful violin.
Her own eyes opened, smiling a little down at the instrument as if it could see her. It was an old friend. An heirloom, just as her mother had said. Lucy had taught herself how to play on this very violin, even when it was far too big for her little hands to properly handle. But she had been determined.
She would play no other violin, learn no other instrument. Only mama’s violin.
Lucy sighed, shifting the case a little so she could sit on the bed as well, still carefully running her fingers across it. The strings were somewhat loose but felt rigid as if they hadn’t been played before, and she guessed that was the case. Leaving it properly tuned for that long could cause the wood to warp, and her father no doubt wanted to make sure it would be in pristine condition should she ever announce a return. Without thinking, she carefully pulled the velcro strap holding the neck in place free and wiggled her hand underneath it to extract it from the case.
For all her fighting with Natsu and the others, there was absolutely no denying that even just holding it again made her feel better. Whole. Complete. Like the world could start again if she could only be so brave as to draw her string across it once more.
Lucy swallowed the lump growing in her throat, setting it down on her knee standing up and carefully reaching for the upper pegs. The hand holding it steady plucked the E-string and she nearly winced at how truly out of tune it really was. That wouldn’t do. So she sucked in a deep breath and, with all the practice she had thought was long gone now, began tuning it again.
It was cathartic, in a way. Just plucking the strings until the notes came out clear and tuned. Lucy had always enjoyed the maintenance aspect of playing, had familiarized herself with the pegs and the fine-tuners well before she dared to play it.  Only once that final string rang clear did she release the breath she hadn’t realized she was keeping, closing her eyes again. It was so close. Her fingers practically itched to play more, and she could already feel the tingle of her neck and collarbone where it would rest.
For a second, she nearly did it. Just to feel it again. Just to know if it would even feel the same as it did all those years ago, before the bad memories. Could it ever possible?
Taking another deep breath, Lucy set it back down. Not yet. Not now.
Her fingers trembled a little as she secured it back in place, double checking that the bow had not warped either before closing it and snapping the latches back shut. Plue had come into the room, trained as he was to follow her anxiety and make sure she was fine. He sat at her feet, watching her with his endlessly dark eyes as if a manifestation of her own thoughts - are you alright?
She didn’t know. How could she be, when she had just closed away the world once more?
Lucy rose quickly, keeping the violin in the middle of the bed as she stepped away. She couldn’t deal with this right now, not when there was a million other things that needed to be done before she disappeared for the night. So she carefully scooped it back up by the handle and put it back in the closet - carefully this time. Once it was secured and Lucy was certain it wouldn’t tip or fall over, she grabbed a small duffel bag and began to pack a pair of clothes to change into tomorrow, as well as a clean pair of pajama’s.
There was no time to worry about the lure of the music. She had friends waiting for her. Real friends. Not ones made of string and 400 year old wood. But, as she tried to ignore it, Lucy knew. Something had shifted. Whether she liked it or not.
She was definitely going to strangle Levy for telling Natsu where she worked.

Who wants a 3 am sneak peak at chapter 13 of Stardust and Fire, courtesy of a procrastinating student?
Lucy wiped her brow and breathed in deep, filling her lungs with fresh air. Another bead of sweat rolled down her temple and a shudder pulsed down her spine.
“Good Lucy, concentrate.” Capricorn’s voice said. She gritted her teeth and tried to focus on her task.
Capricorn, her most recent spirit acquisition, had been very agreeable in joining her and helping her train and learning how to contain her Stardust. She had to pay a hefty sum for his key at the shop in Basta, but it was more than worth it. Capricorn had told her some old stories of her mother, and was more knowledgeable in Starchildren than anyone else, or any book she’d found.
“Your magic is a part of you, but it is also born from a fallen star. A part of that star wants to return to the heavens, but you are the one in control, remember that,” Capricorn said. Wincing, Lucy nodded. Her first training lesson was all about keeping her magic under control, so there would be no more glowstick explosions. To do this, she was keeping her aura exposed and making herself glow at a steady rate for as long as she could.
Oh, just keep glowing, it’ll be easy. Don’t worry. Lucy bit her lip. Bullshit. She was drenched in sweat, and every single muscle in her body was quivering from exertion. She must have been keeping her aura ‘on’ for hours. She was sitting on the floor of her bedroom, with the curtains drawn in the hopes that no humans would see her shining through the window from the street.
“Concentrate, you’re losing control,” Capricorn said in his calm and monotonous voice. She bit her lower lip and tried to reign her thoughts back under control. Another droplet of sweat rolled down her back, bringing goosebumps rising along with it. Her skin felt like it was burning, and her magic was aching to run free and shine brighter. She reminded herself to think calm thoughts, and not about a nice warm bath to soothe her aching muscles. Or food.  Or water for her aching throat.
“Lucy, focus,” Capricorn repeated. She fought the urge to roll her eyes. She was focused. Sort of. He told her that she could last a few more minutes, and she tried her hardest to keep up with his demands. Her magic bubbled beneath her skin in protest, the Starlight trying to tempt her into bursting free to dance across the sky.
With a wild curse, she lost the hold on her magic and there was a blaze of golden light before the room went dark. Ears ringing, Lucy hesitantly opened her eyes, one at a time, to assess the damage. Luckily there were no more burns on the carpet, or the drapes, but the light in her ceiling was blown out. Sunlight drifted through the taupe curtains, casting a warm glow over the quiet room.
“Well done for your first try.” Capricorn rose to his feet and straightened his sunglasses, despite the low lighting. Lucy rolled onto her back and splayed her limbs out like a starfish with a tired groan.
“My entire body hurts. My brain hurts. How long did I last?” She asked. Capricorn cleared his throat and answered, “Three minutes and forty-two seconds.”
I think I’ll have this chapter finished soonish. I finally got over the writer’s block I had for this chapter so yay

Heated kiss prompt
Natsu had a thing he liked to do. It was a kink, he learned, after an hour-long drunken ramble Cana went on and traumatized half the guild with. (Bacchus was sure into some weird stuff). But he uncovered some of his own feelings, confirmed when Lucy caught his attention. He’d been around fire his whole life obviously, heat was an extremely safe and comforting part of his life. The time on Tenrou Island when he gave Lucy his fire to finish off Hikaru Kain, he was mesmerized by the sight of her wrapped in his flames. They had grown closer after the seven-year time skip, Natsu’s dragon going haywire after the incident. Her touches, as simple as they were, would send speedy shivers down his spine, his mentality coaxing him to gain more. The dormant beast inside him had grown while they slept, purred when Lucy fought through the Grand Magic Games, roared to get her back from the knights, and snapped when he lost her future self. After the dragon incident, Fairy Tail took a month-long break to recuperate, and Natsu refused to let her go. Lucy understood, she was shaken up after the fight too, and let herself indulge in the thick arms of her partner. They stayed in a majority of the month, Happy taking the liberty to fly in their food before returning to Charle and Wendy. Natsu did nothing but hold her and spent their vacation in content. His obsession grew slowly, satisfied at first with keeping her warm and getting her addicted to his heat. Natsu would slowly increase his body temperature to get her used to him, pride beating strong in his heart as they slept. He knew there was a part of him that took control when he was alone with Lucy, but he was careful not to hurt her; she was precious. His fire swirled in his fingers as he watched her sleep and his eyes glazed over with a sweet heat, watching as it moved on its own, caressing Lucy’s cheek lovingly. She stirred and turned onto her back, mumbling and cozying to the source of heat. It was more often nowadays that she would sleep in thin and short nighties since he kept amping up the sweltering warmth between them. He selfishly stared down her bare décolletage, teeth aching to experience the flavor of her skin. The fire continued to spill, the stream loosely wrapping around her arms and down to her waist, hips, thighs, even her toes. They barely ever slept with a blanket, the blonde finding it unnecessary when Natsu was her personal furnace. He slowly closed his fist and watched the makeshift rope tighten before Lucy’s strained groan let his conscious mind return. The fire was quick to vanish before she woke up, Lucy’s bleary eyes blinking up at Natsu’s wide grin.“…it’s not morning, hmm?” Lucy stretched her arms above her head, circling them around her partner's neck and cozying up to his chest.“Not yet, Luce. Go back to sleep.” Natsu buried his nose in her hair and rubbed circles into her back to lull her to sleep. His want to give her his fire grew, one night pushing past the boundary of their friendship that they had protected for so long. Natsu swallowed thickly as he stepped into the hot spring with his partner, the two taking a soak after a day spent working in a restaurant as waiters.“Thank you for not eating any of the costumer's food,” Lucy laughed from her spot in the other side of the water, back turned to the pink haired slayer.“I know when you have to pay your rent, I wouldn’t screw that up.” He rolled his eyes, pouting when she wouldn’t wade to his side. “I know the girl's bath is closed but you don’t gotta stand all the way over there.”“I’m not going to let you see me naked,” She scoffed, sinking lower in the water to loosen her tight muscles. “But can you heat up the water, this feels a bit too cold.”Natsu’s chest rumbled with a happy purr as Lucy’s body shuddered at the increase in heat, ears singing at the sound of her satisfied moan. They laid together that night in the only hotel bed left in the building, the celestial mage not minding as she cuddled against Natsu, squealing and giggling as his arm trapped her against the soft mattress. Her eyes met his in a sweet embrace, Lucy suddenly aware of just how close his face was. His nose bumped against hers, a soft smile gracing his lips as his hand rested gently on the small of her back. They continued to look at each other as Natsu held the stare, the dragon slayer gradually building the heat between them again. She felt the protection he provided her in waves, forever grateful to have a partner that would fight till his last breath for her. It was in his eyes and the way he held her, tight yet delicately as if she would break if he made the wrong move. She panted delightfully as the heat she had come so used to increased, her skin barely sweating even at such a high temperature. He toyed lazily with her strewn about hair, smiling softly down at her as he brought a strand to his nose, breathing in a scent he had told her in a drunken sleep was beyond intoxicating. She was also painfully aware of how she and Natsu were dressed, finding it hard not to imagine what might happen in his boxers and ‘her’ old t-shirt that she took from Natsu’s house. She mewled as the heat rose goosebumps on her skin; it was weird but whenever she felt him warming her, there was the light sensation of faux flames licking her skin and wrapping around her for security. Her cheeks reddened as Natsu reached over her, pulling the chain of the lamp on the bedside table to turn it off. She appreciated an up-close view of her partner, flushing more as he pulled her against his chest similarly to every night they slept together. The kiss to her temple was always a bit jarring, she could feel just how hot his lips were.Natsu grinned at the awkward way Lucy held herself against him, excited to feel her squirm a bit against his side. Her eyes shut tightly as she tried to force herself to sleep, Natsu felt the strange beast take reign of their body, fire dripping from his fingers. He wanted to let her nurse on the tips, just to get a taste of his flames as the core of her body was adjusting to him. He wanted to hear her moan and beg for more, greedily feed them to her with his mouth. He groaned and held himself back, cowering over Lucy with a classic death-grip like hold. She choked as he overdid himself, apologizing profusely as she reflexively kicked him out of bed.“You alright, Natsu?” Lucy asked when he didn’t make the usual effort to climb back in. She peeked over the edge of her bed and watched her partner sit with his head in his hands.“Y-Yeah, sorry about that, Luce.” She motioned to help him up, though felt a slight worry grow when he wasn’t immediate to wrap his arms around her. Lucy bravely kissed his forehead and gave him a worried look, her hands gently caressing his features.“Get some rest, you can pick the next job when we get home,” She hummed as he snickered, nodding as he reveled in the feel of her velvety kiss. They grinned as their eyes met, another kiss to the tip of his nose and lateral to his cheek. She sighed as his heat held her again, Lucy mumbling her thanks as she continued to peck lightly against his jawline. There was a slight tiredness in her movements, but she was gripped with a sudden need to shower the dragon slayer in sweetened affection. She pressed herself into him, wrapping her arms around his neck as she lazily assaulted his face. Natsu purred as her fingers lightly scratched at the base of his head, finding her ministrations absolutely irresistible. The familiar bubble of his flames in the pit of his stomach was quick to breach his lips, groaning when Lucy placed a soft kiss against their corner. His hand maneuvered to the back of her neck, coaxing her to rise and meet his own flushed face. The blonde mage shakily swept her tongue across her bottom lip as Natsu seemed to be enchanted by their pink puffiness. His thumb lightly grazed the borders, inwardly amazed by the simple softness he could already feel with the pads of his fingers. Natsu shifted them so that he loomed over her, happy when Lucy didn’t resist. She was nervous, he could smell it, calming her with a sensual wave of faux flames, enjoying the look in her eye as her body loosened.“Luce…” His voice was gravelly compared to its usual sound, the girl in question tensing as he did only but admire her moonlit features. She could imagine the words that might roll from his tongue, endless confessions of every part of her body that he found the most beautiful, gracing every nook and cranny with his lips until it was ingrained in her skin, the eyes he flashed in intense battle when he attempted to scare the enemy into submission. He stared so long she became embarrassed, even needy to allow him access to her body.“Aren’t you going to kiss me?” She asked in an unsure whisper, shivering as Natsu split his one of a kind grin.“Is it okay?” Her heart clenched, only Natsu would ask for permission when they were already in the assumed position.“Yeah,” She let her own smile split as he leaned down, their lips locking and getting a taste of the other. It was quick once they teetered over the line of friendship, the buried love in their hearts breaking through and taking control. They had held back for so long that Lucy already found herself submissed to Natsu’s provocativeness, smothered in his arms. She moaned against their delicate heat, finding it weirdly adorable when she felt steam grace the sides of her face, greedily stealing it into her mouth. Natsu’s tongue was eager to meld against her own, fire failing to stay settled any longer. It followed as she let him in, yelping slightly as the lava-like flow began down her throat. It was an addictive heat that spread in her stomach as they fervently swapped spit, Lucy disappointed as he pulled away.“What’s wrong?” She mumbled with swollen lips, hooded eyes meeting golden ones she had never seen.“My fire… did you like it?” He seemed desperate for an answer to allow him to feed her more, Lucy biting her bottom lip and nodding to allow him to continue.

A forehead kiss prompt?
“I want to marry Natsu-sensei when I grow up!” One of his students grinned, holding up their pudgy arms for their teacher to pick them up, giggling as he twirled them around.
“I think Asuka-chan is too mature for an old man like me,” Natsu snickered, the other kids laughing and chanting that their teacher was old, before their snack was served and their attention was stolen away.
“As popular as ever,” Gray scoffed as he handed the expertly crafted apple bunnies to the children who were quick to fawn over the cute shapes. “They don’t know how much of an idiot you are, flame brain,”
“Not in front of the kids,” Erza hissed as she walked into the room, glaring at both men quick to zip their lips. The students laughed as they ate, telling Erza she was way cooler than Gray or Natsu since her eyes held so much power.
The three worked at a local daycare, Natsu’s father it’s owner and the other two getting jobs along with the Dragneel son as soon as they graduated college. They all liked to work with children, which their other friends found strange but admitted that when they dropped by for a visit, they had a lot of fun.
“After you finish your snack, make sure to line up to rinse your mouth then it’s nap time. Levy-chan will be coming from the library to read to us before your parents come to pick you up!” Natsu clapped and the little ones cheered, exhaustion soon claiming each one.
Their day was always quick to flow by, Erza and Gray clocking out for the night while Natsu stayed behind to wait for the parents that usually came an hour or so late. There was only ever one student left at this time, and he knew his mother was probably tripping over herself trying to rush when she knew that Natsu never minded staying late.
“Natsu-sensei?” The boy sighed as he waddled up to the teacher, his cheeks puffed out and bitty hands pulled down on the front of his smock. “Do you think mama is almost here?”
“‘Course I do, Kai! You know she’s always a bit late; I bet it’s because she’s thinking of something awesome to make you for dinner.”
“Eh~? That’s cool... Mama is cool...” He grinned cheekily as Natsu ruffled his curly blonde hair, his smile almost an exact replicate for his mother’s. The door soon swung open with a panting woman on the other side, awkwardly huddled over and holding her knees for balance, looking up with a half grin as she heard her son squeal.
“I’m sorry mama’s late again, Kai.” Lucy cooed as she came forward to greet her son who excitedly ran towards her. “Capricorn will never learn when to let me leave,”
“Don’t sweat it, Luce. We always have fun here while we wait for you,” Natsu laughed as the boy agreed and wrapped his arms tightly around his mothers neck.
“Thank you so much again for keeping him late, I hope I can adjust my schedule soon to pick him up on time,” Lucy sighed, eyes tired but smiling as her son pressed sloppy kisses against her cheek.
“Don’t force yourself,” The teacher shook his head, stuffing hands into his pastel yellow apron as he grinned. “I know you gotta lot going on, you can always count on us to help you out.”
“What do we say to the kind sensei, hmm?” Lucy’s soft smile made his heart beat a mile a minute, both mother and son shouting out a gleeful ‘thank you’ before taking their leave.
Natsu ran a hand through his hair and groaned, teeth sinking in roughly to his bottom lip. Even when disheveled and overworked, Lucy looked beyond beautiful. He’d never had the chance to work up a confession, more or less in the past because he thought she was still with Kai’s father, but learned the man didn’t even stick around to wait for his child’s birth. That pissed Natsu off, generally speaking for any woman who had been left to raise a child by her lonesome, but he’d fallen for Lucy the moment she walked in to enroll her son. Not to mention she took over her family business when her father suddenly passed away, and only at the age of twenty three. Those two were in the public eye more than they should have been, and Natsu struggled to make the effort to enter her life. Lucy’s gaze always held his for a moment before she would turn to leave, his heart sighing and fingers twitching when he would almost grab onto her and beg her to stay.
“Dammit,” Natsu cursed to himself, making his way to the back office before he noticed a familiar bag sitting in its cubby still. He’d walked in circles, contemplating he even bother visiting the Heartfilia home or just handing it over the next day when she came to pick him up. It was Friday though, and the children were given a worksheet to complete with their parents; he cheered for his found excuse before going to find her address and take off.
His motorcycle hummed to a gentle cruise as he approached her apartment building, gulping as the building seemed to reach the heavens. Lucy lived on the top floor; if he didn’t already think there was no place for him in her life, the feeling doubled. He left his wheeled partner in guest parking before striding inside and towards the elevator, even the doorman giving him a snide stare before turning back to his computer. But that pompous brat wouldn’t dare approach him, the spiky hair and studded ears were more than enough to have the overly dressed man glued to his seat. The elevator ride shook his stomach a bit, Natsu refusing to turn and face the skyline while he was moving in fear of increasing the rising nausea. He was thankful the ride ended in such a short time, shaking his body of any fear as he knocked on Lucy’s front door. There was a bit of hectic skampering on the other side, Natsu only imagining just how rowdy Kai could be at home. The door subsequently whizzed open, the sight of smoke in the background alerting his protective instincts.
“N-Natsu? What are you doing here?” Lucy asked timidly, trying to hide herself in the plain house clothes she wore.
“Kai left his bag at school... is everything alright?” His mind now preoccupied with the stream that seemed to be flowing out an open window.
“I’d say yes, but you can see the smoke,” She chuckled, swinging the door open more to let him inside. “I fell asleep while I was heating up a pan, burned some oil.”
“Natsu-sensei!” The boy cheered at the sight of his favorite teacher and quickly clung to his leg. “Did you come to play some more?”
“I came to give you your homework,” He laughed as the boy motioned to be picked up, swinging the six-year-old around as he often did at school. “You forgot your backpack.”
“I’m sorry you had to come all the way over here for that,” Lucy groaned as the pan hissed, dipping it into a bath of hot water. “I’m sure you had better things to do.”
“My life’s not all that exciting,” He scoffed, setting the boy back down who quickly attached himself to a hero show on the television. “Do you want some help? I cook all the time for the kids,”
“I can’t ask you to do that,” Lucy shook her head, Natsu rolling his eyes as he began pushing her out of the kitchen.
“My treat, besides, I don’t want you walking around while you’re tired enough to burn some oil. Go sit with Kai,” He insisted, stealing the apron tied loosely around her neck. Lucy flushed as his fingers brushed against her sensitive skin, nodding as she sunk with the comfort that came by holding her son. She watched Natsu’s broad back as he fiddled with ingredients pulled from her fridge, feeling the steady rhythm of her heart increase as she began to doze off. Just a little nap...
Natsu felt his chest beat with pride as he cooked for Lucy and Kai, ready to impress the Heartfilia heiress with his stay-at-home dad skills. Lots of vegetables and protein in a stir fry for energy, shredded beets in vinegar as a side dish since they wer Kai’s favorite, lots of rice since Natsu was a big eater, and a sweet and quick pudding he whipped up since Lucy had the ingredients. While his father owned the daycare, his mother ran a very successful bakery, making sure Natsu knew the careful ins and outs of cooking and baking; they would be proud of their son.
Natsu plated the food and called for Kai to wake his mother, Lucy’s nose assaulted with a whirlwind of spices as her eyelids fluttered open. She was shocked to see everything so delicately prepared, mouthwatering at the virtual feast Natsu seemed to have prepared in no time at all. Kai was quick to dig in, already knowing just how surprisingly good his teacher was when it came to food.
“Thank you so much, Natsu,” Lucy sighed as he walked out of Kai’s room, the boy already fast asleep after a hearty dinner and dessert, not to mention a much needed bath as well. Natsu wipes his hands with a small towel as he finished the dishes, turning to the shorter blonde not at his side. “I’ve been so out of it, I feel so bad not being able to make Kai something good to eat.”
“Don’t beat yourself up about it, Luce. You’re allowed to be tired too, I can help out whenever ya need me,” His grin shook her tears loose, Lucy thanking him through cries this time as she buried herself against his chest. Natsu flushed, tears were never up his alley, but rubbed circles into her back as he whispered sweet nothings in her ear to help her calm down. He smiled lightly as she sniffled, apologizing for staining his shirt. His thumb wiped away the trail of tears on her cheeks, subconsciously kissing her forehead just as he would if any of his students finished a fit. The two flushed at the gesture, but did nothing to increase their distance, Lucy finally pulling away when she needed a tissue.
“S-Sorry, I get so stressed out, I’m such a mess.” She waved him off as she blew her nose, cursing at the uncute emptying of clogged snot.
“You can talk to me,” He shrugged, a still silence as Lucy contemplated emptying the load of annoyances weighting her mind. “It’ll help, ne?”
They sat on Lucy’s couch till the moon was high and shining through the balcony, Natsu absorbing every word she had locked away for such a long time. Talking about how much she had to learn before she could officially be recognized as the next head of the Heartfilia Konzern, how many disgusting old men got on her case and only having twelve board members to help show her the way, their bond that of family since they had been around since she was little herself. They were the ones thankfully in charge while she tried to manage learning how and what to do, hating that so many partners thought they could take advantage of her now that her parents had passed. She hadn’t seen this life as her career until Kai came along, knowing that she’d want him to have a stable and easy life, even if she could achieve her dreams at that moment. Natsu applauded her strength and grinned with her as the crushing weight of her struggles lifted from her shoulders and let her feel more at ease.
“You’re really amazing, you know that, Natsu?” Lucy hummed with a soft smile as she stretched off her couch and sipped on the rest of the tea he made halfway through her rant.
“Oh I know, the kids tell me everyday.” He grinned as she laughed, the sight of her balled up in the corner of her couch under the moonlight, too pleasing for proper words.
“It’s already midnight,” Lucy groaned but thankful for the weekend ahead of them.
“Grandine’s gonna get on my ass,” Natsu stretched from his seat on the couch. “I said I’d help out at the bakery, she’s expecting me at five.”
“I didn’t mean to keep you for so long, sorry about that,” Lucy said sheepishly, Natsu shaking his head and refusing to let her feel apologetic.
“Like I said, I’ll help out any time. Talk to me if somethin’s buggin’ ya. I’ll run across town if I have to.”
“You’re too much,” she giggled and stood with him, wrapping her arms around his waist, enjoying the warmth a single hug from him could provide. He swallowed thickly, his own arms wrapping around her and trying not to memorize the softness of her being. They parted slowly, eyes speaking the words either were too shy to say but bodies too stiff to act on. Natsu purred lowly in his throat, Lucy’s tongue sweeping delicately against her lower lip, the two feeling the pressure build until it boiled over its edge.

Idek what kinda kiss prompt
Lucy threaded her fingers in her hair as she walked circles in her room, groaning as her mind reeled with the events that took place earlier that day. Her lips still buzzed with the memory of his, warm and soft like she had always imagined. Her face had failed to calm its intense red shade, heart leaping in her chest at the sudden knocking on her window.
“Ever kiss anyone, Luce?” Natsu asked as the two laid on the grass by the river bank and absentmindedly watched the clouds.
“W-Why do you ask?” She gulped, tugging on her cardigan sleeve and trying to hide further in the sweater.
“Lisanna asked me for one,” He shrugged, eyes never leaving the sky as he spoke. “I don’t get why girls want them.”
“You kissed her?” Her voice was weak as she held back the crack she knew would break if she let her eyes tear up even the slightest.
“On the cheek, but that just made her upset,” He laughed, telling her about how she stomped off and called him an idiot. “I don’t get it.”
“If a girl asks you for a kiss,” Lucy sighed out forcefully. “It’s usually supposed to be on the lips.”
“Eh? Why would she want that?” He snickered and turned to face his partner with a quirked brow.
“Can’t you tell when someone likes you?” Her heart thrummed nervously as she turned to face him.
“I dunno, don’t really think about that,” She rolled her eyes as he heaved his shoulders upwards again.
“I haven’t kissed anyone, to answer your question.” Her voice was tight as she begrudgingly answered. He hummed and their silence persisted, Lucy trying to stir up the courage to make a move. She had known Lisanna was interested in the dragon slayer too and they were both silently fighting for Natsu’s attention. The celestial mage thought the pink haired boy should fall in love with who he chose and leave it at that, but he was never one to acknowledge or even think about his feeling until he was pushed towards facing them.
“Would you kiss me?” Lucy asked, turning onto her side to face her partner with flushed cheeks. He looked at her with raised brows, pouting his lip upwards as if he was actually taking the time to think about her request.
“You wouldn’t when Asuka asked,” He reminded her with a grin. “I don’t care much either way.”
Lucy groaned and shook her head, lifting herself up and walking away from the pink haired boy.
“Oi, Lucy!” Natsu jogged up to the blonde as she tried to walk hastily away, pulling her arm to stop her. “What’s wrong?”
“You can be so dense sometimes,” She huffed and yanked out of his hold, trying her best to hold back the emotion welling aggressively in her chest.
“I don’t get it, Luce.” He groaned as he ran a hand through his hair. “I didn’t mean to make you upset.”
“You really don’t see it?” She asked, mentally clawing at him as he shook his head. Lucy grabbed the collar of his vest, pulling him forward and pressing her lips harshly to him. Their embrace was a bit awkward as Natsu stumbled, ending quickly when Lucy suddenly dashed off.
The blonde mage shrunk as Natsu climbed through, giving her a smile to try and calm the tense energy. She sat at the edge of her bed as he did, either waiting for the other to start talking first.
“I love you,” Lucy sighed and tossed herself back on the mattress, trying to ignore the bright smile he spread.
“I love ya too, Luce!” She rolled her eyes as he laughed, hitting him with a pillow as she grumbled.
“More than just nakama, I hope you know,” She forced her lips to pout as he crawled over her, his smile infectious as usual.
“Your lips are real sweet,” She flushed as he snickered. “But I know how much I love ya, Lucy.”

Single parent AU prompt #? esketitt
Lucy huffed as she rushed through a crowd, trying to lose the desperate ex she left behind before he could drag her back to the cafe they were once seated. A nearby festival in the park provided her cover as he chased her, the blonde slipping off to the side and into a forest of sakura trees while he was swept off in the opposite direction.
“That’s the last time I date someone Cana introduces to me,” She groaned, the light breeze rustling in the trees and calming her of the stress hot in her cheeks. She could stick around to see the lighting of the rainbow sakura while she was hiding out, hoping the Blue Pegasus playboy had taken the hint and would look for some other girl to chase. The area she walked through was scarce compared to the main courtyard, couples by her side as they took a stroll under the shower of pink petals. She sighed and took a seat under the berth of a large tree, tilting her head back against the wood to let the stress of her morning disappear. Her eyes closed for a brief moment before a nearby hiccup, ears picking up the familiar cries of a child. She was quick to look around, expecting to see a mother calming her child but the cobblestone road was empty. The closest people were in the main square and the noise was too concentrated for her to discern voices from the music. She peered around the trunk of the tree, surprised to see little shoes kicked off and into the grass, a small bundled body hiding against the timber.
“Are you okay...?” Lucy asked as she crawled around to face the child, her heart clenching at his puffy red eyes, snot and tears dripping from his features, and a bloody gash on his knee. “Oh my goodness!”
“O-Onee-chan, R-Ryuu got hurt,” He sniffled and pointed to the cut, crying further as he rubbed his eyes.
“Don’t worry, honey, I’ve got you,” She shushed him and pulled out a thin packet of tissues, cleaning his face before rummaging around for an antiseptic wipe. “This might sting for a second, but it’ll help make sure you don’t get sick okay?”
The boy nodded and hissed as Lucy began to wipe up his injury, blowing on it to help him feel better. A shaky smile grew on his face as she plastered a colorful bandaid over what was just a dripping scratch, wishing away his pain with a light kiss.
“Papa told me to say thank you when Ryuu gets help.” He grinned as Lucy smiled, holding another tissue up for him to blow his nose into.
“Where’s your papa now, hmm? Did you lose him?” Lucy held his hand and helped him up, looking around for a possible pink haired man in search of the boy.
“Ryuu followed the flowers, papa was getting Ryuu juice...” His eyes began to well up again, the two walking into the open sidewalk to get a better eye on the distant crowd.
“I don’t think it’s a good idea for us to go rushing into that crowd,” Lucy huffed, knowing they’d get lost in the sea of people all over again. “What does your papa look like?”
“Pink like Ryuu, papa has dark eyes, Ryuu has blue like mama.”
“Is your mama here too?” Lucy asked as she crouched down to his level, the boy shaking his head.
“Mama left when Ryuu was little, just Ryuu and papa now,” His grin told her he didn’t know exactly what that meant but she smiled and nodded, walking them both over to a nearby food cart.
“Let’s get you something to eat and drink while we wait for your papa.” They took a seat on a nearby bench, Lucy letting him choose a bundle of cotton candy and a meat bun, Lucy indulging herself with the same bread roll and splitting the bag. She bought him a cup of dragon fruit juice, his favorite, in a novelty cup with a rainbow sakura as its cap. She had a soft spot for spoiling children, what could she say.
They talked about random things, mostly because he was three, Ryuu more calm now that he had eaten and sipped on his favorite juice. She asked him about his father, the boy describing him as a giant that swung him around and let him fly like a dragon. He had a lot of aunts and uncles that she assumed were just his fathers friends, his coherent words jumbling together as he spoke quickly. Lucy nodded and agreed even though she couldn’t understand a good percentage, letting him talk all he wanted before his antsyness willed them both back onto their feet.
The crowd had begun to make there way to the grass to find good seats, giving Lucy an opportunity to lead Ryuu back into the main square in search of his father. She carried him to help look over heads, the two sticking to circling the fountain. Lucy yelped as Ryuu began to squirm in her hold, his finger pointing wildly at his father near an entrance gate, speaking to a police officer. She calmed him down and dropped him to his feet, holding his hand as the toddler dragged her toward the gate.
“Papa! Papa! It’s Ryuu!” The boy shouted wildly, his fathers head whipping to greet them both with relieved eyes.
“Ryuu! Mavis, I couldn’t find you!” He groaned as he fell to his knees, opening his arms to strangle the air out of his son. Their reunion was sweet and kind of awkward as Lucy stood behind them, unsure if she should just walk away. Ryuu giggled as his father assured him with kisses, sighing into the wild pink tufts of his hair.
Lucy flushed as the father made eye contact with her; something about them seemed virtually soul stealing, their blackness like an abyss. His grin replicated his sons, the little pink haired boy separating and returning to Lucy’s side.
“Onee-chan found Ryuu! She’s really nice!”
“Oh yeah, buddy?” The man stood up to shake her hand. “Thank you so much, I only looked away for a second and he was gone.”
“He’s a fast one, I’m sure,” She laughed, smiling down at the baby clinging to her leg. “We had fun, don’t worry about it. He can sure talk once he’s had dragon fruit juice.”
“Can onee-chan watch the flowers with us, papa?” The boy plead with a dramatic pout, Lucy saying she was free and the father having no objections. He’d like to show more gratitude for taking care of his son.
“I’m sure your name isn’t onee-chan,” The pink haired man hummed, his half grin painfully charming.
“It’s Lucy.” She smiled, “And yours?”
“Natsu.”

Natsu rubbed his temples, groaning as his agitation grew. Lucy leaned over his desk, lecturing him for the millionth time.
It was like this every day. Just because she was the class president, she had to stick her nose in his business. So what if his grades were bad? Did she always have to bother him? It wasn't like he was the only crappy student in class. And they were only in their second year of middle school, where was the rush to improve?
He ignored her as usual, folding his arms and looking the other way as she waved a test paper in her hand.
Gray and Gajeel were snickering in the background, the whole class used to her routine. Again, he wasn't the only dumb one here! Loke was the worst at English too and she never yelled at him. Gray sucked at science and usually scored around fifty percent, while Natsu got at least sixty to seventy percent. It made no sense!
It was getting tiring, hearing her let out the same old spiel, reprimanding him for not studying harder.
"You should've come to my study group, there's no reason your scores should be this low! It's up to me to look after the class, why don't you—"
"Argh! I've had enough!" Natsu shouted, his chair squeaking against the floor as he stood up. His palms slapped against his desk, throwing a fierce glare at Lucy who flinched at his uproar. "I'm done letting you say whatever you want! I don't even care! They're just dumb tests, they don't mean I'm a freaking idiot! All your whining and nagging does is make me feel like crap! It's none of your business! Geez, you can be such a bitch, Lucy! Leave me alone, why don't you?!"
A startled gasp fell over the other students, some raising their hands to cover their dropped jaw. It was silent as they watched him puff with anger, refusing to move even as an embarrassed blush began to rise on Lucy's cheeks.
She choked back a sob before running out of the room, the bell signaling the next class period following behind her.
"Natsu...that was going too far." Gray coughed, clearing his voice as everyone quietly waited for the teacher to come.
"Yeah, man, even I wouldn't have said that," Gajeel whispered, Natsu shrugging them off.
"Well, that's what she was acting like. I had enough of her complainin'." He grumbled, slumping in his chair, ignoring the guilty feeling that crawled up his back.
She deserved it...he'd been putting up with her all year long. No one told her to stop either, they all just laughed. So what if he stood up to her? He was only defending himself.
He'd only really regret his behavior if Erza from the class across the hall heard what happened. But she'd been out sick all week with mono, so he was safe, for now.
The next class started without fail, Natsu trying his best not to pay attention to the empty desk beside him.
Even as lunch rolled around...three classes before the day was over...two classes...then one...
Her best friend, Levy, was definitely glaring daggers at him at this point. Pretty much all of the girls in class were. Loke included, but he always sided with the girls.
"You'd better figure out a way to apologize," Gray hummed on their walk home. "There's no way a teacher doesn't find out what you said. Or worse, Erza...she'll be back in like three days."
"I feel justified enough. You guys didn't have to deal with Lucy in your face every other day. She's always complainin' for no reason." Natsu's head was down as he followed a pebble he kicked.
"I don't even use that word when water woman is being clingy. You're lucky Alberona didn't kick your ass right then and there."
"'S cuz she knows I'm not wrong." He shrugged, the other two sighing as they shook their heads.
Later that night, Natsu tried his best to focus on his homework, plagued with the uncomfortable memory of Lucy's face. She actually looked really hurt by his words, she flinched every time he ended a sentence. Maybe...maybe he didn't have to call her that word, but he still felt justified. There was just no reason for her to have treated him the way she did. So what if her feelings were hurt, he was hurt first.
He chewed on his bottom lip, groaning to himself, he wasn't getting any work done.
"Dammit! I'm a freakin' jerk!" He flopped back onto his floor, frowning up at his ceiling. "...I'll apologize tomorrow..."
He slowly sat back up, jumping as his door was suddenly flung open.
"Natsu! Have you seen Lucy Heartfilia? She goes to your school, her mother is calling around, she hasn't come home. She's not answering her phone either." Grandine said quickly, her hand clenched around the receiver. She moaned as he shook his head, a quivering frown gracing her lips. He watched her close his door, her worry present as she spoke back into the phone. "I'm so sorry...he..."
Natsu flinched again as he felt his phone going off in his pocket, Gray's icon dancing on the screen.
"Dude, my mom just got a call—"
"Shut up, I know," Natsu huffed, hiding his anxiety as he stood up. "I'm going out to find her."
"She could be anywhere, what're you talking about? Leave it to the police, her mom already called them."
"It's my fault she's out there anyway, I'm going to get her!" He hung up after shouting into his phone, throwing a jacket on, and grabbing his scarf.
He hurried out of the house, running past his parents who sat worriedly at the table.
"Natsu? Where are you going?" Igneel called out after him, the pink-haired boy closing the door quickly as he answered. "Oi, hold on, we don't need you missing—"
"I'll bring Lucy home!"
He figured the best place to check would be the school or at least one place to start. If Natsu thought about it, he didn't even see Lucy come back to class.
His feet carried him faster as he ran past Lucy's house, her mother crying at the door to neighbors and police who came by.
Her house was at the end of their street, just by the park they played in as kids. They never really played together; she was always sitting under a tree, reading with Levy. There were times he was forced to attend Erza's tea parties, sitting across from a giggly Lucy who enjoyed seeing all the boys in dresses.
They never really had a chance to speak before she became the class president, and all of a sudden she was in his business.
He easily hopped the school's front gate, a technique he perfected when Wakaba-sensei began closing it five minutes before the second bell rang.
The doors were never locked unless it was a holiday, the custodians usually not bothered to lock down anything but the teacher's offices.
As soon as he ran inside, he checked her shoe locker, letting out a sigh of relief.
"She hasn't left yet..." He hoped, at least. Leaving her shoes could've just meant that she was too upset to care about changing them.
He started searching every room on the first floor, running back and forth, calling out her name with every door he opened.
"Lucy? Agh...come on...Lucy? Lucy? Lucy?!"
He was out of breath by the time he reached the third floor, his hope wearing thin.
Natsu had yet to find her, not sure how to feel when he found her bag still hooked onto her desk.
"Please, please, please be in here," He huffed, sliding open the door to the nurses office. "Geez...she was asleep?"
He groaned, feeling the strength leave his legs as he fell to a crouch. At least she was safe and sound and not lost somewhere in the city.
He collected himself and nervously approached the bed, not sure if Lucy would exactly be happy to wake up to his face.
But her mom was worried sick, and it was entirely his fault she was still here. He grimaced, the closer he got, noticing the puffiness under her eyes. Of course she cried.
Natsu cleared his throat, settling his hand gently on her shoulder.
"Hey, Lucy? Come on, you gotta wake up." He carefully shook her, pulling his hand away when she began to mumble under her breath.
"Not now, momma..." She yawned, stretching out slightly before she turned onto her back.
Natsu stifled his laugh and shook her again, being a little more forceful this time.
"Lucy, wake up, it's super late," He said, taking a step back as she frowned and blinked her eyes open.
"Natsu...?" She mumbled, sitting up as she rubbed her eyes. "What are you...where are we...?"
"Um, you fell asleep in the nurses office," He started, swinging her bag out in front of her. "It's almost nine, your mom's been calling around, looking for you."
"Oh my god, are you serious?!" She gasped, grabbing her things from him and immediately rifling through her bag. She pulled on her phone, groaning as she repeatedly tapped on the screen. "It's dead..."
"I came to take you home," He cleared his throat, Lucy facing him with a pout. "I-It's my fault you're here anyway,"
"I can go home on my own." She huffed, kicking her legs off the bed to stand up.
"Lucy," His lips twisted awkwardly as she pushed past him, ignoring him as she walked toward the door. "I'm sorry, okay! I mean it, I shouldn't've called you that word."
She stopped in the middle of the room, her hand tightening around the strap of her bag.
"It was real shitty of me, I'm sorry, Lucy."
"...why should I forgive you?" He chewed on his bottom lip, nervous as he heard her voice waver.
"You don't hafta," He scratched the back of his neck awkwardly. "I was in the wrong, I got too upset when you were yelling at me. I...just wanted to tell you that I'm sorry."
She was quiet for a few seconds, Natsu unsure if he should approach her or keep his distance.
"I'm sorry...for yelling at you. I didn't mean to make you feel like you weren't as smart as everyone else." Lucy slowly turned back around, her eyes cast on the floor as her cheeks burned a bright red.
"Thanks," He laughed, trying his best to lighten the mood. "Um, so should we go? Your mom is real worried, I saw the cops by your place."
"Y-Yeah, I don't want to make her worry any longer." Lucy nodded, Natsu moving to pull the door open for her.
He walked two steps ahead of her, his hands stuffed stiffly in his pockets. The hallways echoed with their footsteps, the silence making his anxiety grow.
It was too awkward staying quiet, but what was there to even talk about? They rarely ever spoke to each other, and she always approached him to yell. He mulled over what to say, wondering if it was better just to stay quiet?
Once they got downstairs, Natsu stood to wait by the exit as Lucy changed her shoes. He whistled silently and tried not to stare too much, the late-night atmosphere spreading an uncomfortable feeling in his stomach. Was it ever this quiet between them?
He held open the door as she finished changing, his lips awkwardly turning up as she offered him a small smile. Were they friends now? He couldn't say there was a relationship even when all she did was nag him. Was it appropriate to reach out with the offer of friendship? Maybe she would like it better if they just never spoke again...
"Why do you get on my case so much anyway?" Natsu asked with his hands stuffed in his pockets, an amateurish blush on his cheeks as he looked off in the other direction. That was a fair enough question, right?
"W-What do you mean?" Lucy stumbled over words, Natsu groaning as he turned back to face her.
"You know what I mean, you never really talked to me before you started bugging me about my test scores."
"That's...that's true..." She gripped the handles of her bag as they continued walking off-campus, the bright street lamps accompanying their walk home. He felt his nerves pushing and pulling like waves, Natsu unsure of why he was anxious at all. It was probably still his guilty conscience pushing his buttons.
He waited for her to speak up again, Natsu peeling his eyes away from the road ahead to take another look at her. He questioned her reddened cheeks; was that too embarrassing for her to answer? Their fights were always pretty childish, to begin with, so maybe she didn't want to acknowledge anything? There wasn't a wrong or right answer in his opinion, but he was curious. She had to have some sort of reason, right?
"The reason...the reason why...I..." Her voice wavered as she slowed her steps, Natsu quirking a brow when she stopped walking. Was it that serious?
"You...?" He motioned his hands for her to continue, Lucy almost shaking where she stood, nervous eyes meeting his own confused ones.
"Because...because I..."
"You don't have to stress, I was just curious." He shook his head as she mimicked him, the streetlamp above them flickering for a second.
"It's not like that, I just..." There was a whine in her voice as her lips twisted, steam practically rising off her face. "...I want to say it."
"Sure," He waited as she took in a deep breath, noticing his heart pounding just a little more than usual. How was she making him so nervous all of a sudden?
"I l...like you, okay? I've liked you since...well I don't know when...And when we were in the same class I was really excited to try talking to you...and well, that's what came out of my mouth first..." She stared at the ground, practically shaking where she stood. "I wanted to apologize sooner, but I figured you hated me at this point."
Natsu felt like the wind was knocked out of him; since when were his thoughts so silent? What was he supposed to say now? What should he do? She liked him? Of all people?
"Oh..." Was all he could manage, feeling an embarrassing amount of blood rush to his face. "Wow..."
It took them both a minute to be able to look each other in the eye again, Natsu thinking for the first time; was she always this cute?
"You don't have to say anything about it, I just wanted to tell you." Her throat felt thick as she spoke, her legs were about to give out any second. "You can pretend I never said anything too...if that makes you feel more comfortable."
"No...! Well, um, don't say that. 'Course it's nice hearing someone say that about you...I'd say something if I could think of anything." Her heart hammered in her chest as she watched him smile, Natsu reaching out with his hand.
"Let's go home, yeah?" He said, twirling the ends of his scarf as she slowly put her hand in his.
"Yeah..."
She smiled as he lead her down the road again, thankful his back was turned toward her. She couldn't help thinking about how cool he looked right now.
The closer they got to their street, Lucy felt her nerves gather again. What would things be like in the morning? Natsu could always pretend they never had this conversation; obviously, he didn't have feelings for her. Her confession was mostly for her own benefit, to at least try clearing the air between them. She was tired of seeing him smile without her, tired of keeping up the nagging as an excuse to approach him.
She yelped slightly as she accidentally ran into Natsu's back, nervously taking a step back as she rubbed her nose.
"You stopped?" They were on the turn right before their street, Natsu quickly turning around with a nod.
"We probably won't have a chance to talk until tomorrow," He dug into his pocket and quickly pulled out his phone. "So, um...I at least wanted to say..."
He scratched the back of his neck as he looked down at her, Lucy feeling her heart almost jump out of her chest. He was still holding her hand...
"Let's be friends if that's okay with you." He let out a heavy breath as she nodded in agreement.
"I'd like that," She smiled widely, almost laughing as he smiled back.
"C-Cool!" He turned back around and tugged her forward as they continued around the corner. "And, um, I promise I won't forget...about your feelings."
"Thank you..." She felt her stomach flip over, almost dizzy from how excited she was at that moment. Her soaring heart drowned out the sound of her mother crying out; Natsu delivering her home, safe and sound.
Oh my god natsu accidentally calling Lucy a bitch while they're arguing

part 3.
-
Lucy didn’t see Natsu for awhile after what happened. She told herself that she wasn’t ignoring him. She was just busy, yet she deliberately left her second phone in her drawer at work instead of hiding it underneath her mattress like she usually did. There was something unsettling about facing him again, even reading his texts she felt… guilty. Just thinking about what happened gave her a queasy feeling in her stomach that made her drum her fingers harder on her desk.
She knew she couldn’t handle lying to him again so she stayed away.
Though, she could almost call the turn of events lucky. Jackal was getting worse and she could sense that he knew something wasn’t right. He called her randomly throughout the day while she was at work, always asking when exactly she’d be home and she had even caught him peeking through the blinds when she drove up the driveway after work one day.
It scared her because she knew exactly what he was doing - bubbling like a pot of water left on the stove that was soon to boil over. That was their rhythm. He would brood and manifest his thoughts, grabbing anything that he could use against her and twisting it into something elaborate so he could pin it against her. So he had a reason.
The first time she had never been more confused and so full of self hatred. They had been at a party - a neighbourhood get together. She had smiled and laughed with her friends just like she normally would. Her mother and father had taught her how to engage, to be the perfect host or guest. It was in her nature to belong in the crowd.
Yet, apparently it had been a mistake. Jackal had grabbed her wrist. Hard. She looked at him with her eyebrows drawn in, questioning, but he only told her that they had to go home. He dragged her away with a flat goodbye and Lucy could only send a quick uneasy smile at the other party goers before they were out the door and he had told her to get in the car.
Those were the last people to see Lucy for a week afterwards.
They sat in silence as they made the drive home. She was in the passenger seat whilst she nervously bit her nails into her thighs whilst she tried to think of something to say. She wanted to know what was wrong, yet she was scared. Their fighting had been worse and she didn’t want to make him angry again. She never wanted to make him angry.
However, Lucy still spoke up. Her voice was meek and she found it hard to look at him, but if she could help him… She still loved him after all. He was her husband.
“Did something happen, Jackal.” She paused. “I didn’t think we would be leaving so ear-”
The car picked up speed as he started yelling. His eyes turned to her and they swerved on the road, barely keeping control as he lost it.
“You’re a filthy slut.” He had called her and tears welled up in her eyes as fear grabbed hold of her heart.
“You were going to sleep with him. Think I wouldn’t notice if you slipped away, huh?”
He grabbed a hold of her hair, the car swerving again as he picked up more speed.
“I-I don't know what you’re talking about,” Lucy screamed, but he only pulled on her hair harder. “Please, Jackal! I wasn’t doing anything. I would never do that to you. I love yo-”
He slammed on the breaks as she spoke, releasing his grip on her hair and letting Lucy’s face collide with the dashboard. There was a cut on her eyebrow and blood dribbled down to her nose. All she could remember was the metallic taste in her mouth, his manic screaming turning into white noise around her as she spat out blood.
Lucy blinked as her phone rang and she frowned down at her legs where she had unconsciously been scratching at her thighs again. At least she was wearing a skirt.
Her eyes turned to her bag where her phone hummed with the incoming call. With a sigh and a quick glance around the office she reached in to answer the device. She didn’t even have to check the ID to know who it was.
“Hello.” Her voice was hollow as she spoke, yet her fingers came back to pick at the fabric of her skirt.
“Hey, baby,” Jackal almost purred and she had to keep down a grimace, “When are you going to be home?”
Lucy hated it when he did this. The facade that he wore when he wanted to play with her, trying to spin her to get what he wanted. “Soon. I clock out at 4:30 since we aren't that busy on Tuesdays.”
“Don’t keep me waiting.”
The call ended and Lucy felt her stomach pool with unease. He didn’t even wait for her to offer a goodbye, not that it would be anything but clipped and short. She had stopped offering him a strained ‘I love you’ a long time ago.
With a sigh, she turned her focus back to her work, though she didn’t want to get it done. The longer she stayed the more time she had free from him, but her frown deepened. That wasn’t an option now.
He was closing in on her and it was almost suffocating.
Lucy unconsciously flicked her gaze to the phone in her drawer and she was tempted - to just fake sick right now and show up at his door. She closed her eyes as she imagined Natsu’s arms around her, the way his grin would almost constantly be plastered on his face. It wasn’t just the way he touched her anymore. He was safe.
She shook her head when the memories stirred of her last visit, the feeling from before tugging at her. Lucy always knew it was there. The guilt, but it was small - a weed that she could stamp out when it started to spread its roots. Yet, when she had lied to him it wrapped itself around her heart, tight. It was a reminder of what she was doing to him and she didn’t want to face that. Lucy needed him.
She rubbed at her eyes before she rested her head in her hands, a grumble stirring in her throat as she pulled her gaze back to her work in front of her.
It was going to be a long day.
With a huff she buried herself in her work. It was tedious enough and soon the thoughts that plagued her mind were set aside whilst she sorted through papers and files. Though, she barely got an hour through when a sharp buzz interrupted her train of thought. With a click of her pen, she pulled open her drawer, her hand shuffling to the back of her stuff before they pulled out the buzzing cell phone.
“Come over?”
The text lit up the screen and Lucy stared down at it. Natsu had no idea just how much he pulled her in, but her thoughts once again drifted back to that night and she threw it back into her desk. She couldn’t do it. Not tonight. Jackal was waiting for her anyway.
Her eyes glided to the time. 4:21pm.
Lucy sighed, again. Her whole body sagging with exhaustion as she thought of what waited for her.
She packed her stuff, shrugging on her coat before her gaze turned to her desk drawer. Her eyes glazed over with emotion, everything in that moment coming to the surface as she looked down. She had tried not to think about her other device that laid there. She wasn’t ready for him yet, but the itch was there. His text was still fresh in her mind and Lucy swayed between her choices. With a frustrated huff, she pulled open the drawer before stuffing the crappy phone deep into her bag, into the zipper alongside her spare pads.
It wasn’t like she would answer him, she told herself. It was for the comfort and that was all.
When Lucy opened the door to her home, she wasn’t sure what she was expecting. Jackal was poised on the couch, freshly showered and dressed up as he watched TV with a beer in his hand. She let out a short breath as she adjusted her bag and went to make her way up the stairs.
“You’re late.”
His voice echoed in the house and she stiffened in response.
After a pause she turned, her eyes meeting his as he turned his body towards her. “I told you. I don’t get off till 4:30. Plus the traffic was a little heavy on the way back.”
Lucy turned away from him, her feet turning to carry her to the kitchen as she heard him rise from the couch. She kept her bag on her shoulder as she opened the fridge to keep her hands busy, careful not to let him see the tremble of her fingers as he followed her steps.
“I was thinking we should go out tonight,” he said.
Her hand reached for the jug of water before she closed the fridge, her gaze barely reaching his as she walked to the cupboard for a cup.
“Really?” Lucy asked, “What for?”
She turned to him then, her lips curling up into a small forced smile.
He was quiet as he watched her pour water into the glass, his eyes flicking to her hands and then back to her eyes. It wasn’t until she had finished that he spoke, his gaze locked with her own and Lucy desperately wanted to run away - to tear her eyes from his.
“I think we deserve some time together.” His hand slid to her own and Lucy flinched. Jackals gaze darkened, but he still grabbed her smaller one. “It's been so long since we’ve been anywhere.”
Lucy’s gaze snapped to where his hand held her own.
“You’ve been good lately, Lucy,” He praised as he rubbed his thumb over her hand, “I felt that you’ve really been listening to me.” His grip tightened. “I want to treat you.”
She could feel her heartbeat in her ears as her lungs swelled inside her chest. He was too close, his hand on her. It was too much. Lucy pulled her hand back, but he caught her before she could and her breath hitched.
“I-I’m kind of tired,” She breathed, “It’s been such a long day at work and maybe you should just go on without me.”
Lucy took a chance, her eyes flicking up but she regretted it instantly. He was staring down at her with such an intensity that she felt her throat constrict. Her whole body tensing as his light green eyes held her in place with a piercing look. Her brain told her to run.
His lips were pulled into a deep frown. “I planned this for you.”
She couldn’t help the scoff that left her lips. “Sure. That’s what you did this for.”
He let go of her hand as he stood up abruptly, his gaze fierce as he grabbed a hold of her face and turned it towards his.
“Watch your mouth,” Jackal growled before he dropped her face harshly, letting her gaze fall to burn holes in the ground as he moved his way around the bench to her side.
“I wanted us to spend some time together… but I guess you have plans with someone else.”
Lucy shook her head, her hands curling in small fists as she refused to look at him. “What do you mean by that?”
“What?” A dry laugh left his lips. “You really think I believe you? I know you’re trying to sneak around behind my back.” He took a swig from his beer and Lucy could smell the alcohol on his breath as he stood near her. She kept her breath bated as he towered behind her, making her shoulders slump as she kept her head down.
“Please, Jackal,” She whispered, “Don’t do this.”
He laughed again. “Do what? I’m not doing anything, Lucy. It’s all you.” His words were laced with disgust as he said her name. As if just her existence repulsed him.
Natsu’s face flashed in her mind as Jackal continued to degrade her. He didn’t know… He couldn’t know… She repeated to herself. He always did this - trying to push it all on her like he always did, like he did at that party all those years ago.
“You forget.” Lucy was shaking now. “That it was actually all you.”
He slapped her across the side of the face, his palm pushing her head to the side. The sting burned it’s way across her cheek - spreading up her brow and to her nose where it then began to pulse when he pulled his hand away.
“Lucy... oh, Lucy. You know I love you... so just tell me the truth.” His words were sickly sweet, mocking almost as he snaked behind her and laid his lips alongside the shell of her ear.
“There's... n-no one else I promise,” she whispered and she closed her eyes as the tears started to spill down her cheeks, quiet sobs making her shoulders shake.
“Then tell me this.” He started slowly before his voice raised with each word, venom spilling into his tone, until he was shouting. “Why can I smell him on you?”
His bottle went flying from his hands as he threw it, the glass shattering against the wall. Lucy cried out in fear as she brought her hands up to her face to shield herself, her eyes squeezing shut as she tried to escape from the reality she faced.
He grabbed at her arms, pulling them away from her face as he glared down at her. His breathing was heavy, dragging his shoulders high and making him look fierce. His eyes were wild, bloodshot, and cried out as she tried to tear herself from his grip. Her arms pulling as she brought her leg up to kick him.
When her knee came up to strike his gut there was a gasp, and Lucy used the loosening of his hands on her wrists to break free. She didn’t look back as she bounded up the stairs, her blood pumping through her a mile a minute as she took each step three at a time. The walls around her blurred as she dashed through the house, her legs taking her to the only room in the house that had a lock. The bathroom.
There was an enraged shout that was closer than Lucy would’ve liked, her legs burning as she pushed them hard - to be faster.
When she finally had her hands locked around the door knob, she screamed as she saw Jackal. His hands unclenching and clenching into fists as he came down the hallway. He looked manic, his lips pulled back into a snarl as he shouted at her.
“Get back here you Cunt!”
Without a moment's hesitation Lucy slammed the door closed, the lock sliding across as a fist was brought down on the wooden barricade. The sounds echoed throughout the room like thunder as he banged and kicked in the door. She could only close her eyes, the tears halted in her panic as she held her breath whilst gripping the knob like a lifeline, her whole weight pressed up against it.
She would not let him in.
“You lying Bitch,” Jackal screamed, “I’m going to kill you!”
He punched harder, the door vibrating underneath her in response to his assault. With every hit the lock pushed against its restraints - the door pushing an inch out of his frame, but Lucy kept herself there. She pushed harder against the door, bringing it closed every single time it threatened to waver.
She would not let him in.
There was a loud burst of frustration before he kicked the door, his voice hoarse from his screaming yet he continued to yell.
“Lucy!”
She would not let him in.
Her heart leapt in her chest as the final hit resounded throughout the bathroom then there was silence. Lucy stayed by the door, the blood thumping in her ears as she listening - waiting for another scream of her name or another fist against the door, but there was nothing.
It wasn’t until she heard the screeching of car wheels that the blonde released her breath - the much needed air filling her lungs as she tried to calm herself down. Her hands were trembling as she let go of the door, her body sliding down to rest on the cool tile. Exhaustion took over and every part of her body ached as she took in deep breaths.
She barely noticed as the tears started again. A choked sob leaving her lips as she cried on the floor and let everything out. Her chest was tight and she couldn’t shake the lump in her throat as she hiccuped. There was nothing in that moment except for falling apart and Lucy was at her breaking point.
It took her a long time until she pulled herself from the floor. Her hands finding the sink as she tried to find balance on her wobbling legs, finally resting her bag on the bench. She took a moment as she turned on the tap, the cold water rushing into the sink as Lucy splashed her face and rubbed at her eyes. It was only then that she brought her eyes up to her reflection.
Her cheeks were red, the one that Jackal had struck considerable so, the angry handprint on her face still fresh as it marked her face. Mascara was smudged around her eyes and ran down her face in black blotches. Though, none of that mattered to Lucy as she stared into her dull brown eyes. They were blank - hollow. It was as if the life had been sucked from their depths and they could no longer shine.
A sharp pain spread in her chest, but she barely reacted. The heartbreak of her own reflection was something she was so used to seeing. Lucy was completely numb to it now. She couldn’t waste more tears on something that she couldn’t change, something that she couldn’t fix.
A heavy sigh left her lips as she stripped down, her body protesting in response as her muscles pulled in their tensed up state. Her hands were still shaking, but the blonde could only think of getting into the bath - to soak everything away and forget.
She didn’t wait for it to fill before she climbed in. The water filling up around her as she relaxed into the tub. The steam rose from the scalding water but Lucy could only relish in the feeling as it pooled around her thighs and distracted her from the ache that resided in her body. Yet, she couldn’t enjoy it completely. Her eyes wide open as her mind worked tirelessly to catch up to where she was feeling.
The water came up higher, covering just below her chin as Lucy slowly sunk - her brown eyes staring up at the ceiling lifelessly. It was hot against her skin, but she still felt empty as the water kept filling the tub up, up and up. The heat was the only thing that grounded her as she lay in the large bath.
She was tired and in that moment she wished that the water would swallow her whole.
And she tried to force it. Her head slipping under the still water as she encased herself in the warmth and made it take her. Maybe if she stayed there long enough she really would disappear - everything would disappear. If she kept herself here she would be gone and there would be no more pounding on doors, no more tears and no more hurting. She would finally have the freedom that she needed. To feel safe and at ease in her own home.
But the burning in her lungs told her otherwise, as well as the new sound of her cell phone ringing out in the quiet bathroom. With a gasping breath Lucy broke the surface, her hands coming up to wipe at her eyes before she turned off the tap and directed her gaze to the bench where her phone buzzed.
Without a thought she stood, water sliding down her body and onto the rug as she padded her way across the tiles to her bag where she found the source of her ringtone.
Natsu.
“Hello,” she answered, and her gaze connected with her own in the mirror.
“Hi,” Natsu’s voice rang out from the other end, his soft tone stirring something familiar in Lucy - a feign feeling of what it would be like to fall in love. “What’ve you been up to, Stranger? You’re not ignoring my texts, are you?”
There was a pause for her end. The silence weighing down on her as she stood in the bathroom and repeated his words in her mind.
“N-No!” Her voice broke. “Of course not. I was just at work and it was busy so I completely forgot about answering.” Her heart panged in her chest.
“Well then, what do ya say? Have you been missing me as much as I’ve been missing you?”
She could almost see the flirty smile on his lips as she spoke, the words coming out confident and making Lucy take in a sharp breath. Her eyes flickered to the door and then to the full bathtub until they finally connected with her own reflection again - the smallest of twinkles in her eyes.
“You better be ready for me. I’m leaving in five.”
She didn’t wait for his reply before she hung up. His surprised words cutting cut off as she clicked the red dial button on her phone and her own smile made its way up Lucy’s lips.
If she couldn’t drown herself from existence than she could always pretend to herself that she had.

He woke up before her, always taking an extra hour to soak up her image. She cozied by his side, riddled with his marks across the plane of her bare body.
He chuckled quietly, knowing she would scold him for the embarrassment of bathing in front of her maids like this.
He pressed a kiss to her forehead, purring softly as she further snuggled into his chest.
Her warmth relaxed him into another wave of sleep, his comfort short-lived as a snowflake fell on his nose.
It was a way for Gray to get his attention, wherever the idiot may have been. He knew his master was too preoccupied to want to be productive, but the country wasn't going to run itself.
"Lucy..." He whispered in her ear, grinning at the sound of her sleepy moan. "Lucy, wake up, hm?"
He rubbed her back in an attempt to stir her from her slumber, half-lidded eyes slowly batting themselves.
"How do you feel?" He asked, drunk on the sight of her lazy smile, her cheek perked in his palm.
"A bit sore," She groaned slightly as she twisted, her head propped on his bicep. "But it can't be helped."
"You say such seductive things in the morning," Natsu hummed, toying with a strand of her hair as she blushed. "Shall I send a maid to tend to you? Or would you prefer Salamander?"
"Salamander," She almost grumbled, knowing he knew she never liked to look so undone by the staff. "Please."
"You shouldn't get so attached, my lord," Gray sighed as he stood behind the pink-haired ruler.
"I know," Natsu frowned, tightening his hand over the parapet. His eyes held the figure of the blonde maiden running around the courtyard with his younger sister. He knew better than anyone getting involved with her could only lead to weakness, somewhere his enemies could strike him down.
But that didn't stop him from visiting her room most nights; brandishing her lips or holding her in his arms. She was too precious to be left alone.

Nooo! I need more! Omg
“Eh~? That’s cool… Mama is cool…” He grinned cheekily as Natsu ruffled his curly blonde hair, his smile almost an exact replicate for his mother’s.
“Kai left his bag at school… is everything alright?” His mind now preoccupied with the stream that seemed to be flowing out an open window.
Just a little nap…

Heated kiss prompt
Natsu had a thing he liked to do. It was a kink, he learned, after an hour long drunken ramble Cana went on and tramatized half the guild with.
They had grown closer after the seven year time skip, Natsu’s dragon going haywire after the incident. After the dragon incident, Fairy Tail took a month long break to recooperate, and Natsu refused to let her go.
It was more often now a days that she would sleep in thin and short nighties since he kept amping up the sweltering warmth between them. The fire was quick to vanish before she woke up, Lucy’s bleary eyes blinking up at Natsu’s wide grin.
“…it’s not morning, hmm?” Lucy stretched her arms above her head, circling them around her partners neck and cozying up to his chest.
“Not yet, Luce. Go back to sleep.” Natsu buried his nose in her hair and rubbed circles into her back to lull her to sleep.
His want to give her his fire grew, one night pushing past the boundary of their friendship that they had protected for so long. Natsu swallowed thickly as he stepped into the hot spring with his partner, the two taking a soak after a day spent working in a restaurant as waiters.
“Thank you for not eating any of the costumers food,” Lucy laughed from her spot in the other side of the water, back turned to the pink haired slayer.
“I know when you have to pay your rent, I wouldn’t screw that up.” He rolled his eyes, pouting when she wouldn’t wade to his side. “I know the girls bath is closed but you don’t gotta stand all the way over there.”
“I’m not going to let you see me naked,” She scoffed, sinking lower in the water to loosen her tight muscles. “But can you heat up the water, this feels a bit too warm.”
Natsu’s chest rumbled with a happy purr as Lucy’s body shuddered at the increase in heat, ears singing at the sound of her satisfied moan.
They laid together that night in the only hotel bed left in the building, the celestial mage not minding as she cuddled against Natsu, squealing and giggling as his arm trapped her against the soft mattress. Her eyes met his in a sweet embrace, Lucy suddenly aware of just how close his face was. His nose bumped agains hers, a soft smile gracing his lips as his hand rested gently on the small of her back. She mewled as the heat rose goosebumps on her skin; it was weird but whenever she felt him warming her, their was the light sensation of faux flames licking her skin and wrapping around her for security. Her cheeks reddened as Natsu reached over her, pulling the chain of the lamp on the bedside table to turn it off. She appreciated an upclose view of her partner, flushing more as he pulled her against his chest similarly to every night they slept together. The kiss to her temple was always a bit jarring, she could feel just how hot his lips were.
Natsu grinned at the awkward way Lucy held herself against him, excited to feel her squirm a bit against his side.
She choked as he overdid himself, apologizing profusely as she reflexively kicked him out of bed.
“You alright, Natsu?” Lucy asked when he didn’t make the usual effort to climb back in. She peeked over the edge of her bed and watched her partner sit with his head in his hands.
“Y-Yeah, sorry about that, Luce.” She motioned to help him up, though felt a slight worry grow when he wasn’t immediate to wrap his arms around her. Lucy bravely kissed his forehead and gave him a worried look, her hands gently caressing his features.
“Get some rest, you can pick the next job when we get home,” She hummed as he snickered, nodding as he reveled in the feel of her velvety kiss.
The familiar bubble of his flames in the pit of his stomach were quick to breech his lips, groaning when Lucy placed a soft kiss against their corner. His hand maneuvered to the back of her neck, coaxing her to rise and meet his own flushed face. The blonde mage shakily swept her tongue across her bottom lip as Natsu seemed to be enchanted by their pink puffiness. His thumb lightly grazed the boarders, inwardly amazed by the simple softness he could already feel with the pads of his fingers. Natsu shifted them so that he loom over her, happy when Lucy didn’t resist. She was nervous, he could smell it, calming her with a sensual wave of faux flames, enjoying the look in her eye as her body loosened.
“Luce…” His voice was gravelly compared to its usual sound, the girl in question tensing as he did only but admire her moonlit features. She could imagine the words that might roll from his tongue, endless confessions of every part of her body that he found the most beautiful, gracing every nook and cranny with his lips until it was ingrained in her skin, the eyes he flashed in intense battle when he attempted to scare the enemy into submission. He stared so long she became embarrassed, even needy to allow him access to her body.
“Aren’t you going to kiss me?” She asked in an unsure whisper, shivering as Natsu split his one of a kind grin.
“Is it okay?” Her heart clenched, only Natsu would ask for permission when they were already in the assumed position.
“Yeah,” She let her own smile split as he leaned down, their lips locking and getting a taste of the other. It was an addictive heat that spread in her stomach as they fervently swapped spit, Lucy disappointed as he pulled away.
“What’s wrong?” She mumbled with swollen lips, hooded eyes meeting golden ones she had never seen.
“My fire… did you like it?” He seemed desperate for an answer to allow him to feed her more, Lucy biting her bottom lip and nodding to allow him to continue.
