synopsis: yeosang hates his idiot couple friends

yeosang looked at the both of you with a surprise but tired look, “what the hell happened to you two?”

“long story but we’ll explain if you let us in.” san clasped his hands together hoping his friend would understand.

“pretty please?” you added with a sly smile. san and you both intensely stared at yeosang until he sigh and stepped aside for your entry.

the sigh meant he was so used to this, and he was pissed. this wasn’t the first time his two best friends came knocking at his door at midnight and it most definitely won’t be the last.

yeosang brought you to his room. you both settled down on yeosang’s bedroom floor while he took his bed. he was still awake watching some show, so you didn’t feel completely guilty for crashing at his place this time. not like yeosang really had a choice though.

“we got locked out.” san and you both say simultaneously. you turn your head to see him looking right back at you. before you could even open your mouth, san beats you to it, “jinx! i called it first, loser.” he stuck his tongue out at his so-call victory.

“god, you’re so annoying.” you rolled your eyes and continued to explain the situation to yeosang.

the situation on how you snuck out the window to hang out with san at midnight, but you came back to only realized your doors are locks and everyone is fast asleep. definitely did not want to risk getting scolded at from your family. plus, heading back to san’s house was too far, opting to crash at yeosang’s house was the only option. you were hoping he didn’t mind, considering how often it happens.

after all, he was your neighbour and best friend since childhood. it was a miracle that his family loved you as if you were their child and had no problem with you visiting whenever, even when it’s midnight. but on the other hand, yeosang hated that you and san for always finding the craziest time to intrude his home. he wish his parents weren’t so chill about it.

“hey! you wanna know why we snuck out?” san quirk his eyebrows.

“no. no i don’t wanna know.” yeosang replied with a hasty tone and resumed his show he scooted himself back to the headboard and continued watching on his laptop before you two came here and interrupted him.

you slapped san’s chest, “oh shut up san, your sentimental ass couldn’t sleep so you went to bother me.” now you were the one sticking out your tongue.

“it’s romantic, c’mon. sneaking out to be with your lover at night?” san interjected.

“romantic my ass. it was just a midnight walk, acting like we did something scandalous.”

placing a hand over his heart, “ouch, you’ve wounded me.” san preached dramatically. “but we could if you wanted to, i’ll do anything for you babe.” san raised his eyebrows teasingly. you instantly sense heat creep up your face and you’re not sure if it’s from flattery or embarrassment.

“ugh! shut up!” yeosang grabbed a nearby pillow and whipped it towards your face. “here have a blanket too, now fuck off.” his voice filled with malice.

“wow thanks for letting the visitors take the cold floor and a thin blanket.” yeosang whipped another pillow directly at san’s face.

you snorted. “oh my god yeo this is too funny, throw another one.”

“you’re the best yeosangie.” his voice filled with sarcasm. san didn’t receive another pillow, rather the finger from the other male at his remark.

you could only hold your stomach and exploded with laughter at the banter happening between the two boys. yeosang let out a loud sigh indicating that he’s done with the two of you.

san patted his pillow and occupied the spot next to you. he pulled the blanket to his chin up and you looked at him confused. “sannie, where’s my blanket?” you asked.

“i don’t know babe, where is it?” san flashed you a playful smile. you pouted and crossed your arms, your ultimate puppy face made an appearance. trying to persuade him into sharing the blanket with you.

of course, it successful. how could san not react to that? “aw is my little angel cold? come here.” san lifted his blanket for you to scoot closer to him.

before you could say anything yeosang sat up from his bed, “please stop flirting, y’all make me sick.” the annoyed male stretched over to his table and grabbed his earphones, plugging it into his laptop to escape into his own world. mute from the noise caused by you two.

you cough out whilst having a laughing fit at his comment. san’s hand moved over to cover your mouth, “you’re so obnoxious, there’s people trying to sleep here.” san spoked like he wasn’t making just as much noise as you were. as soon as your tongue made contact with his palm his released his hand from your mouth. san wiped his hand on your forehead as a revenge.

“choi san!” you scolded, shoving his chest. using the blanket to wipe your forehead clean.

“i love it when you call me my full name babe.”

“ew you’re so gross.”

“oh stop lying, i know you love it.”

“yeosang, i’m so sorry for being with san. i know he’s a chaotic idiot.” emphasizing the last two words. you announced loud enough to go through yeosang’s earphones and probably loud enough for his family to hear in the other rooms.

yeosang mumbled, “you should break up with him.” you nodded jokingly to his suggestion.

san scoffed. “i came here for a good time but honestly i’m feeling very attacked right now.” san proceeded to throw his body on top of yours in his special attempt to cuddle you.

“oomph! san you’re so fucking heavy, you’re gonna squish me.” your miserable struggle to push him off was a failure. san, being stubborn, only wrapped his arms around you, making it harder to escape. he giggled at your reactions.

“let me go or i’m going to rip up shiber when we get home!”

he immediately lifted his weight off of you, retreating back to his spot in a matter of milliseconds. he gasped at your harsh threat with a distressed look of his face. “you wouldn’t dare!”

“i’m just kidding!” your mouth pursing into a self-satisfied smirk at him for falling for your taunting. “i love shiber way more than i love you anyways.”

“take that back! i know you love me!”

the teasing continues until you both pass out due to fatigue. then you two would be wrapped up in each other’s arms sleeping peacefully.

yeosang sighed, for the umpteenth time since you two crashed here. he cursed at his parents for being so considerate towards you two. they would’ve cooed at the sight of you and san all tangled up on his floor sharing a single blanket. at times like this, he wished he had never opened the door and went to sleep earlier.

Loopy looked over at Bloo, “He’s in the studio, he’s working on a collab with some idol,”

Bloo tilted his head slightly, it wasn’t everyday people like them collaborated with idols. It perked his interests, who was this idol Nalfa was suddenly working with.

“Do you know who it is?” He asked.

“A girl,” Loopy explained, “Hope from EXO, or well, she used to be in EXO,”

In moments, Bloo was out of the door and heading to Nalfa’s studio.

Meanwhile, Hope was sitting with headphones on her head as she listened to the track. She had been right, Nalfa was the voice she needed on the song. Although, now the production process began.

“Turn down the pitch here,” Hope explained and pointed to a soundbar, “And up the one over here,”

“Do you just want to take over?” Nafla asked.

“It’s your equipment, I’d rather not,” Hope shook her head, “I don’t like people touching my stuff so I’d leave yours,”

Nodding, Nafla did as he was told before the door was opened. The rapper rolled his eyes, both he and Hope looking over at the door. Bloo walked inside, a small smirk on his lips.

“I told no one to disturb us,” Nafla stated.

“That’s a bit creepy, Nafla, planning something?” Bloo asked.

He gave Bloo a look before the rapper looked down at Hope and smiled softly at her. Hope giggled softly, shaking her head as she looked back at the computer.

“Funny seeing you here,” Bloo whispered, crouching down next to her and leaning his head on the desk.

“I always thought you only came out during night,” Hope giggled, “Can I help you?”

“Can you take my number now?” Bloo asked, slipping her a piece of paper, “Let’s talk other than just two in the morning,”

Nafla blinked softly, watching the exchange. What the actual fuck did he miss? Hope picked up the piece of paper and looked at the scribbled mess of writing, nodding slowly. He stood back up, a smile on his face as he waved goodbye and marched out, quite proudly.

Looking back at Nafla, Hope blinked.

“How do you know Bloo?” He asked.

“Well,” Hope pursed her lips, “I met him while he was drunk at 3am at a convenience store, and he brought me pudding,”

The male was silent for a moment before nodding slowly, “That makes sense actually..,”

A shy smile sat on Hope’s lips as she stared at her phone, waiting from the next text messege to come through. She was laid in her head, phone in hands as she texted away long into the night. It had started with simple hellos, which had turned into non stop texting.

Taking in a deep breath, Hope’s fingers stopped. What was she suppose to say to this? It would be fine and possibly fun but if she was caught, hanging out with an underground rapper. Well, Korea would break. But then again, she was free from the confines of everything.

Her fingers stayed in their place, unsure on what to response with. Hope bit her lip, breathing deeply before she typed a quick reply and slapped her phone face down on the bed. She stood up and paced the room, butterflies filling her stomach.

The phone vibrated, making her stop and stare at it, expecting it to burst into flames. A reply was waiting for her, Hope slowly creeping towards the device and picking it up. She clicked the home button, watching it light up.

Shoving her face in the blankets, Hope let out a high pitch squeal.

Invaders of the Rokujouma!?, Vol. 39

The Rokujouma landscape post-Volume 29 has thrown a lot more obstacles in the way of our heroes, but it is not frankly in a huge rush to deal with them. This has become a series that has no real plans to stop, so things will get resolved when they get resolved. This also applies to the romance, where we see that Koutarou is still uncomfortable with the idea that all the other girls have already come to accept, which is to say that he’s going to be in a polycule. Physical affection is also a work in progress, as we see in this volume when he’s forced to share a giant robot cockpit with Kiriha. But at least we’ve resolved all the potential love interests and aren’t adding anyone new, right? …right? Well, OK there’s been an asterisk next to that since Vol. 29, but for the most part we’ve ignored it as Nalfa has barely been in these recent volumes. That changes here, and you get the feeling she will be added to said polycule. If she survives.

After the big battle last volume, most of the enemy have fled, likely to regroup around Forthorthe. But the Grey Knight has hung around, trying to figure out why Koutarou’s magical sword is “incomplete”. In the meantime, it’s the start of a new school semester, and there’s going to be a huge influx of alien students. Nalfa has to give the welcoming speech, and it’s making her a bit panicky. That said, everyone else is on edge, suspecting that the Grey Knight is going to be attacking the ceremony. Fortunately, it goes off without a hitch. Unfortunately, the Grey Knight finally clues in and realizes what it is that he is looking for: Nalfa. She’s got some power he needs to draw out. He tries attempting to kill her – this doesn’t work. Then he tries attempting to kill Koutarou – that works. Can our heroes save her with the power of Sanae x 3?

Sanae, Sanae and Sanae fighting against the grey Knight is easily the action highlight of the book, and also gets in a few good one-liners (is it the power of friendship when you’re all the same person?). As for the Grey Knight, well, he may be from a different timeline but he’s still hella powerful and dangerous, and it’s going to take a lot more than Sanaes to get rid of him. As for the romance side of things, if nothing else I think we see here that Nalfa may be the only other addition to the polycule. She’s very blunt about her love for Koutarou, just like the other girls – and not like Kotori, who holds Koutarou on a pedestal compared to her “cheating” brother, but doesn’t see him as a love interest. That said, this is somewhat irrelevant, as any further romantic progress, if it happens at all, will be at the very end of the series.

We’re back to Forthorthe for the foreseeable future in the next book, with a few additions – Kenji, Kotori and Nalfa need to come along so that they’re not used as hostages. (This will kill Kenji’s love life, but he’s comic relief anyway.) Vol. 40 just came out in Japan two days ago, though, so it may be another few months for us.
