Nadeem Javed Foray into Indian Politics

Nadeem Javed, a known name in the political scene of India was recently appointed as the chairperson of the All India Congress Committee’s Minority department. He was appointed on this post by the vice president of Congress party Mr Rahul Gandhi. Javed was assigned this position in place of Khurshid Ahmed Saiyed who had served the party as the general secretary of Gujarat Pradesh Congress Committee (GPCC) for at least seven years.

Mr Nadeem Javed’s journey into Indian politics started when Congress leader Mukul Wasnik spotted him 15 years ago in NSUI where Mr Javed was quite popular for his fiery speeches and oratory skills. After leaving NSUI, he served as the general secretary of the Indian Youth Congress.

Nadeem Javed has been a close aide of Rahul Gandhi and this is also one of the main reasons why he was appointed as the chairperson of the All India Congress Committee’s Minority department. When asked about the new role, he said that he was quite overwhelmed with the decision and the trust the party showed in him. He also said that he will do everything possible to strengthen the organisation and make all efforts to help the party win the 2019 elections.

Mr Javed is a mass communication graduate from the Delhi University. Besides being a politician, he also represents his party on national news channels as a media panelist.

It was during his term as the president of National Students Union of India that he won over Rahul Gandhi. Under the leadership of Nadeem Javed, NSUI had won all seats in Delhi University elections.

In March 2018, he was one of the few people from the party including Priyanka Gandhi who hosted the Congress Plenary sessions. According to the UP Congress spokesperson, Zeeshan Haider, Nadeem Javed is maybe the youngest person who will be heading an important position in the organisation.

Nadeem Javed Biography

Nadeem Javed has had a fascinating journey from being a student activist to a well known political leader and now the Chairman of Minority Department of All India Congress Committee (AICC).

This young politician Nadeem Javed is a different breed from the professional politicians. Nadeem Javed strongly believes that “Politics is the best medium to serve the society”.

Born on April 1, 1976 Nadeem Javed’s home town is Jaunpur in Uttar Pradesh, India. His love for the Indian National Congress’s ideology began when he came across Discovery of India written by India’s first Prime Minister and a leading freedom fighter, respected Shri Jawahar Lal Nehru. Since then it has been his most favourite book.

Nadeem Javed has risen from the grassroots. He started as a student leader of National Student’s Union of India (NSUI), the student’s wing of Indian National Congress. Nadeem Javed dedicated 12 years of his life to student politics. In 12 years, Nadeem Javed, who was a worker at the District Level climbed the levels and became the President of NSUI, one of the largest student union in the world. Under Nadeem Javed's leadership NSUI won all the seats in Delhi University elections as he was elected as the President of Delhi University.

Later with his hard work for the student’s movement, dedication to serve the society, powerful oratory skills, Nadeem Javed started to climb the ranks and joined the Youth Congress. His immense passion was noticed by his seniors and in no time he became the general secretary of the Youth Congress.

Nadeem Javed’s made a remarkable debut in the electoral politics. In the year 2012 he was selected by Indian National Congress to contest from the Jaunpur Sadar. In the last Assembly Election Congress had polled approximately 3,000 votes on this seat. Jaunpur Sadar at that time was one of the weak bastions of Indian National Congress. 2012 State Assembly Election was not very easy for Nadeem Javed. The tripartite contest was indeed very tough. Nadeem Javed’s connect with the grass root level and his immense popularity in the constituency helped him to excel. The first-time entrant to State electoral politics stunned everyone as he defeated the sitting MLA with a huge margin of around 50,000 votes.

Though, Nadeem Javed lost the 2017 State Assembly Election. But the setback did not stop his passionate approach and he continued serving his constituency and the state.
