Can you spot the public transit? One of these photos in Ulster County and Orange County (part of the NYC metropolitan region) has a bus, but it isn't heading to Minnewaska State Park, one of the most popular weekend spots this time of year north of NYC (whether you define this as Upstate or not yet Upstate is up to you). Perhaps a State which wants to be seen as a leader in alleviating climate change (or traffic congestion) could at least have a bus shuttle from nearby New Paltz (where there are public transit options to NYC). The shuttle could even be funded partly by parking fees! This week we are forgoing our usual coverage and focusing on the most pertinent news of the moment coming out of New York State. Governor Cuomo Signs the 'New York State on PAUSE' Executive Order

Governor Andrew Cuomo today announced a new ten-point policy to assure everyone’s uniform safety. This includes the closure of all non-essential business in-office functions of businesses across New York State and a temporary ban on all non-essential gatherings. ‘Matilda’s Law’ is another vital component of today’s Executive Order, designed to protect New York State’s most vulnerable. New York State Parks Are Still Open

New York State has 180 different state parks to visit across the entire state and they are still open. Getting outside for some fresh air and exercise is vitally important, as long as social distancing rules are observed. Find a state park near you here.
