Also Bart and Terriermon would probably use a bunch of Digital World slang in the future addition to real world future slang, where as the present Digital World uses their own terms, another way of displaying their displacement in time
Also Tim would probably have Bart and Thorn stay at the Drake Manor since they're a bit homeless and maybe he arranges Helena and his parents to meet if they haven't already so Cassie can have an excuse to come and stay over whenever
Thorn and Bart staying at Tim's place is great! I like the addition here of the Digital Division kind of treating other heroes as pests. They are basically trying to shoo away anyone who's trying to figure out their identity.
I bet Batman is going nuts. He can't really track/follow them into and out of the digital world. Maybe he tries to get Oracle to help? Wonder how that would go.
I'm also vibing with the digital employees and Tim continuing to be the CEO for D.I.
Overall, the concept is cool as hell!

Becoming a parent obviously changes your life drastically -- but not always quite like people expect! Allow the moms and dads of the Babylon Bee to peel back the curtain on the expectations versus reality of what it's actually like to be a parent:
Expectation: You'll have someone to laugh at all your great jokes.
Reality: Your kids will make fun of you until you cry in the shower.
Expectation: You'll never have time for your hobbies again.
Reality: You'll get to do all your hobbies, but now with little clones of yourself experiencing them for the first time.

Taking this list seriously, which I think I can (from what I've glimpsed in the last few months about the Rationalist community it stands to reason -pun intended- that at least some of these anti-beliefs are pretty common among them), let me ad my own 2¢, along with the introductory consideration that if they really have no idea how anyone could do them, they are either extremely lazy thinkers or unimaginably unempathic, or saying The Thing Which is Not; in any case, they would be warranting an expulsion decree from the Citadel of Reason and the Island of the Houyhnhnm.
support Trump: this one is pretty obvious. I have yet to find a person who actually finds him not loathsome, let alone likes him (myself included), and yet he seems poised to be re-elected this very year as the Republican candidate. Politicians are embodiments of social beliefs -and malaise-, and whatever my feelings, I can see him embodying a sort of anti-establishment and brazen populism that never ceases to find an audience.
be anti-GMO: People fear the unknown, and being fair to them, I am not sure we've done the stringent and necessary tests to make sure that those mutations that make the tomato, say, frost-resistant an a killer of the pests that nibble at it don't have some possibly terrible effects on people. But it is something I agree with the Sons of Reason about.
think that open borders are bad: I have personally changed my views on this in a non-trivial way in the last year or so, which makes me think it is not so obviously transparent even to well-read people. A big chunk of this also stems from class division, I feel: the (few) negative externalities of open borders tend to affect the less off the most negatively, which raises the suspicion that upper-class white-collar rationalists could be indulging in a degree of self-interest.
think that jobs are good: This is a tough sell. I mean, I am aware a lot of jobs are pretty bad - perhaps most of them? People aren't paid money to do things because they are pleasant. But there are many jobs that are intellectually engaging, interesting and satisfying (my own, for example), and even among all the ones that might be less so, some are handsomely paid and all have the potential of giving people self-worth an a degree of meaning. I remember that was how I felt when I discovered for the first time that society was willing to pay me money for doing some things.
not like cuddle puddles: okay, I see you're going in crescendo towards the weirdest takes that remind why I am not a rationalist. I am a Mediterranean person, and like touching people a lot -my friends, family and lovers, that is-, but cuddles puddles seem a bit silly and gross at the same time, with all the bad things of sex and none of the good ones.
not want to fuck their clone: I am a bit narcissistic. I suspect my ideal couple is what my mind (misconstrues) as a female version of myself, only a bit better, but this definitely seems taking it too far. Would you at least change your clone's sex?
cheat on someone / feel jealousy: these fall into the same box, along with their implicit advocacy of poly. I can't but feel they are contradictory, and that they speak a language that is as thoroughly alien and unlikeable to my ears as klingon. And I don't feel it is 'rational' either, unless for a very impoverished definition of reason. I'd need more lines to detail this -hanc marginis exiguitas non caperet-, but some intuitions are not to be disregarded, whatever they historical or evolutionary origins.
consider sexual compatibility in a relationship important: I'd agree it is not the most important thing - and has a law of diminishing returns with the passage of time, but it is a foundation stone. I can't conceive of being in a relationship with someone for whom I did not feel a minimum of physical attraction, and sexual compatibility is a necessary follow-up. Of course, rationalists are happy to divorce sex from love and intimate connexion. They're wrong.
think that life is worth living: at the very least, it is interesting to live and to learn, and it is quite bearable for those of us privileged to have been born in a time and place of relative abundance and comfort. The entitlement and arrogance that seem implicit in this last idea are probably what I find the most shocking of all the list.

irken height differences vs their non-gmo ancestor species, and a human for scale! i think irkens are typically around the 3ft-5ft range, with anything taller than that being an anomaly.
before the empire was formed, irkens were a lot taller and much less dependent on the whole cloning thing to reproduce. societal pressures made shorter irkens more economical to produce, since they take less resources and more of them can be fit in one space.
so like... being born with the time and genetics to grow tall means your whole life is probably going to be micromanaged by the control brains and the tallest’s court. this also contributes to their hierarchy- shorter people are considered more expendable and unimportant to the empire’s grand plans

If I may add:
I was looking at Wookieepedia to refresh my memory, and noticed that Korkie is 5'5". Bo-Katan is 5'11", and Satine is 5'10". It looks like most Mandalorians that have their height listed are typically between 5'10" and 6'2"-ish (males typically on the taller end, females mostly around 5'10 and 5'11"). So pretty several inches taller than current US averages, literally making Korkie an outlier. He is the Man(do)let Georg of House Kryze.
Another note: Koska Reeves is 5'7", but Sasha Banks (who played her, for anyone unaware) is 5'5". This makes her total lack of hesitation to square up with anyone and anything even better to me. Smol Ball of Rage my beloved. And also it means they made her STILL be taller than Korkie even though 5'7" is shorter than the Mandalorian average. Truly savage.
Back to my original train of thought: What if transferring at 7 months is still a bit late for a Tubeling if you're anywhere other than Kamino. So even with a successful procedure and completion of the term with no complications, there are still sometimes traits that remain which are usually associated with preemies.
Like a statistically significant difference in height.
Everyone knows he's a Tubeling, no one knows much else. Korkie likes to joke about it. He tells the clones he's "basically a non-GMO version of you guys lol". No one gets it. No one ever does.
Had a painful “lulling myself to sleep” AU about the Kryzes last night.
Bo-Katan gets pregnant at sixteen, and is in denial about it until about six or seven months in. She goes to the doctor for an unrelated thing and is informed that she’s tested positive for a pregnancy.
(Her periods were always irregular and she wasn’t showing much, so she just excused it as stress.)
Bo calls Satine, panicking to the point where she ditches work to come check on The Little Sister.
The doctor explains what’s happening. Bo does not want to keep this baby but is far enough in to feel conflicted about aborting when the baby could theoretically survive in an incubator in a few weeks. She doesn’t want to carry to term but she’s torn about actually aborting. Satine is trying to talk her through it and promises to support whichever decision she makes, etc. All the good parent-sibling stuff.
The doctor offers a third option, which is removing the fetus to a cloning tube. It’s not a common solution, but a Duchess can afford the process. Bo takes that option. The procedure happens. She recovers, but won’t even look at the baby. Satine talks about raising the child herself, since she’s An Entire Adult.
As soon as she’s fully recovered, Bo-Katan runs away from home to Governor Vizsla’s. Satine tries to convince her to come back, but Bo really wants to ignore the whole issue of her baby. She’s staying away, thanks.
The baby is decanted. Satine names him Korkie. She considers claiming to be his mother, but that might put him in more danger, so she’ll stick with the truth without telling anyone how he’s her nephew.
TCW kicks off.
Korkie tries to joke about also being half-tube-child with the clones. They’re confused enough that he has to actually explain his whole Baby Situation. Disaster lineage is cringing but with metaphorical popcorn.
I think Satine was probably 21-ish when Korkie was born.
Obi-Wan keeps insisting he’s sure the timing doesn’t work out for an Obitine baby. People are still suspicious.

Hey, I saw your lower decks but something’s wrong edits. I keep having this idea in my mind of a shore leave episode where Tendi meets Rutherford’s family. Do you have any lower decks headcanons? Im just curious. I can share some of my headcanons. I have quite a few.
Oh so fucking many headcanons.
* Rutherford and Tendi are both autistic.
* Tendi (and all Orions, and this is probably not unique among sentient humanoids) are technically not eukaryotes. Their cells don’t have nuclei. I dunno why; Tendi just gives off strong non-eukaryotic energy. I will not elaborate.
* Orions have two spines, an extra set of ribs, two hearts (but which basically require each other to function), and despite some visual evidence countering it, they all have blue blood, not just Tendi.
* Tendi lived with her aunt and uncle, as it was too dangerous to live with her parents. Her aunt and uncle owned a workshop--her cousin D’onni uses the skills he learned to make art forgeries. (Explains Tendi’s handiness when she spends her free time working on maintenance stuff with Rutherford.)
* Tendi had an interest in astronomy--see the next bullet point--but upon reaching the Federation she learned more about her own anatomy than her expensive tutors on Orion taught her, and became fascinated with biology. (evidence: her interest in the Trivoli Pulsar).
* General star trek headcanon: Orion the planetary system is near Messier 42, the Orion Nebula, and has an excellent view of both the nebula (which appears as it does visually in large-aperture telescopes), and the Orion OB1 association of hot young stars. The planet-forming Orion nebula is of utmost scientific importance, but is overrun with Orion Syndicate Pirates.
* Boimler has ex-borg trauma and finds it incredibly difficult to talk about and have anyone take seriously because it was all just a hologram. My brother wrote a fic about this, I’m Not Excretus.
* Boimler’s purple hair is alien, but he is a human. Basically like, in Jay Eaton’s Runaway To The Stars universe, there’s GMO humans and “typical” humans, but since GMO and typical humans can have babies, GMO genes still end up in the human population. Boimler is a human on earth who grew up in Modesto CA, his parents were both human, but some ancestor was half-alien and he inherits the purple hair genes from them. But he’s still human.
* Brad Boimler has two mothers (G’vertrude Boimler and Ellis Muller) and one brother, Edward Boimler. Well, now two brothers, since he has his transporter clone William. G’vertrude’s currently in the future and if Brad lives to his 90s he might see her again; Ellis has all but disowned him and likes William Boimler better because he’s more successful. He grew up being heavily pressured to be successful by Ellis, and he was. This is explored somewhat in my fic Two Ghosts.
* I don’t have many headcanons about Rutherford’s family! Would be interested to hear more about that.
* Prior to LD S1E1, Rutherford and Boimler were close friends, maybe even knowing eachother at the academy. Their one-on-one friendship showcased in the Mugato episode was especially fun. Rutherford and Mariner were also close friends. Mariner and Boimler barely tolerated one another until the events of S1E1 and S1E2.
* Rutherford and Mariner were either on shore leave together on Earth or on an away mission together when Rutherford had the accident that lead to him getting his implant. And also the implant was installed (supposedly) to repair brain damage. (S2E10 spoilers complicate this)
* Rutherford, Boimler, and Tendi are all about the same age and are one year out of the Academy. Tendi spent her year on Outpost 57 or whatever, and Rutherford and Boimler spent it on the Cerritos. They’re all 23 or 24.
* McMahan said in an interview at some point that Mariner’s position in S1 of Lower Decks is basically after a whole seven seasons of television happened to her. She already had a story arc where she started in Boimler’s shoes and had to decide whether she was going to break the system or fit into it, which is what Boimler has to do now. Very cool. But. This means Mariner is about 7 years older than the others, making her 30 during the events of S1.
* Beckett Mariner grew up on the Enterprise. She would have been 13 in TNG season 1. For reference, Wesley is 16 that year. Mariner would have been beginning her career during the Dominion War and rose through the ranks quickly. Something happened, we still don’t know what (and I’m ok with some things remaining a mystery), and she was demoted. And demoted. And demoted. She feels guilt for whatever that something was, and part of her insistence at remaining lower decks is because responsibility terrifies her. Which is why she much prefers taking orders and ignoring them to giving orders. She can save the day while risking her own life, which means nothing to herself, rather than risking anyone else’s.
* Lower Decks S2 takes place in 2382. I don’t know where the idea that a season isn’t a year in LD came from, but there’s a several months time skip from S1 to S2 and in a recorded memory we see Tendi and Rutherford celebrating New Year’s Eve 2382.

But.. I don't think we know Iz-na's strength. We know nothing about him apart from a few sentences he had said. Therefore, we don't have the blank point to measure Tob-rama's real strength. Ginkaku and Kinkaku could kill him simply because he was exhausted or they were really stronger.
I think he was strong in creating jutsus and raising a new generation/another army, which is by itself great, because Konoha wouldn't be such powerhouse without his help.
Another thing is we don't know if he held back or if it's everything he has. We don't have much data on him which is why people love to headcanon. You can come up with anything here, it's an empty lot that seems hot and you can project anything into it.Be it hatred, love or your issues with shipping.

Demigod genetics
In this post, I will put out some hypothesis about how magical abilities may and may not be genetically inherited in demigods and legacies. I have a university degree in biology, but I have only one university course in genetics. If anyone finds any errors, please peer review me and make your own hypothesis as a reblog of this post.
First off, we must assume that gods create RNA (1/2 of DNA) in order to be compatable with the mortal parent's DNA/RNA. Otherwise, every demigod kid would just be a clone of their mortal parent.
Second, we can assume that this RNA is not stricktly 'godly'. For example, it does not reflect the godly parent's ability to form into light, or immortality. The RNA is that of a demigod - partly human and partly with magical abilities that reflect some but not all of the godly parent's abilities.
Third, we must assume that a god can alter the RNA in the gamete cell (sperm or egg cell) for the new genetic sequences to fit. GMO y'all!
Now, let's assume that some traits are controlled by several genes. An example from real life is height. If your parents are both 170 cm, it doesn't mean that you too will have the genotype (the genetic possibility) of being 170 cm. There are many genes that controll height, and how tall you become, depends on the combination inherited from your parents.
This is why a Mendel's diagram is not fully sufficient. It will only calculate one gene at the time, and traits controlled by only one gene (red-green colour blindness).
To further look into this, we need an example, and I am going to use Jason and Piper (even though they broke up, and I respect that, and even though Jason died...) Percabeth doesn't work, because Annabeth doesn't have any magical traits. Frazel doesn't work because Frank is a legacy. Solangelo doesn't work, because they can't have kids of their own.
Let us then assume that the ability to charmspeak and the ability to controll winds are both driven by 5 sets of genes (alleles) situated on five different places of DNA (loci).
We will call the ability to controll winds W and the ability to charmspeak C. This is the genetic alleles.
For Jason, his genotype will be W÷, where ÷ is the symbol for a non-active fully human gene inherited from his mortal parent. On the DNA, the allele W will be paired with a recessive ÷. W is dominant to ÷, giving Jason the phenotype ability to controll winds. If ÷ was dominant to W, Jason would not be able to controll winds. Piper's genotype is C÷.
This is then the case for five alleles on five different loci on their DNA.
Say the gods in question (Zevs and Aphrodite) need to changes the RNA in the mortal parents gametes (eggs and sperms) slightly in order to make room for these five new genes. Whether this is done deliberately or not is uncertain. Also, let's assume that these changes are alike for all demigods - the changes are done on the same location of the DNA (loci) and magical abilities are therefore compatible. Meaning that the second generation demigod / legacy also has five loci of godly GMO DNA. (If anyone out there knows more about the effect of loci, please correct me and add your own theories).
Now, let's use a Mendel's diagram. For each of these five loci, there is a 1/4 chance of each of the following: WC, W÷, C÷, ÷÷. Considering there are 5 loci, the number of possible combinations are 56 (correct me if I am wrong).
To make this more complicated, we must remember that the alleles of each of these loci are not the very same. C on loci 1 is just parts of what is needed to charmspeak. To be a powerful charmspeaker, you need C on all five loci. Perhaps some of these aren't even restricted to charmspeak!
It could be that some of these simply affect the ability to perform any kind of magic, and is therefore the same gene for all magical demigods! Without these very genes, it doesn't matter if you inherited the genetical ability (genotype) for charmspeak or controlling winds on the other loci. Therefore, magical abilities can skip several generations until one legacy have kids with an other legacy or with a god.
Second, what would happen when a demigod child inherits the genes of two magical abilities. Say one child ends up with WC on all loci. This is interesting. We must assume that both C and W are dominant to ÷, but how they interact towards each other could be different. It could for example be that C is dominant to W. Or it could be that they create a combined effect, the way blood type interitance does. Perhaps this would enable the child to both charmspeak and controll winds. Or perhaps it would be something entirely new.
And what would be the outcome of these 56 possible combinations? We would need to do some genetic research.
In conclusion!
This is complicated. I have been overthinking it so you won't have to. Just let Riordan do whatever he wants.

The Future Acts Like You - How To Live in the Future Part 7
My friends and I were walking dogs the other day on city greenbelt trails, observing how polite and well-behaved the female dogs were when compared to male dogs, how much less likely they were to get riled up by meeting strange pets — and the thought occurred to me (as surely it must have for many others) that if it were up to choice, most people might prefer a female dog for this one reason. How, if we could breed the ratio down to the market’s preference, or find some way to pre-arrange the sexes of a litter (like they can by turning off one gene in turtles), it might be 80/20 females/males, or hardly any males at all. And then I realized that we’re here already – modifying mammal genomes is old hat by now, and all that stands between us and deciding if your baby will be born a boy or girl (or intersex, or some new thing) is just a few years’ of Moore’s Law driving down the price of lab tests and in vitro or in vivo interventions. We are very close to giving women what they’ve always wanted under patriarchy: the ability to reproduce without a man involved.
Sure, birth control was liberating, but imagine how it’s going to be when a sufficiently large XX population can clock out and then womyn-ufacture Amazons on their apotheosis-feminism, GMO coral vulva artificial island. But of course, Athena born from Zeus’ brow is quintessential patriarchy — equally the goal of men, since written records started, to extract themselves from their dependence on the mysteries of reproduction, to appropriate them with the scientific program, finishing the murder of Sophia and then peacing out, and up to some transcendent Man Cave in the sky, Elysium in orbit, hanging out in virtual reality with perfectly obedient and caring AI girlfriends. But of course, this is The Matrix, and it doesn’t get more Cosmic Mom than that. It isn’t hard to see the dawn light of an age in which both sides stand hands on hips, across the atmosphere from one another, shouting, “We don’t need you anymore!”
Nor is it hard to see why it’s ridiculous. It won’t work like that, because time’s not so much a centrifuge that pulls polarities apart as it’s a live volcano, constantly erupting, spreading novel opportunities and forms to make new landscapes that include the past, but ooze beyond it. And as each side of the War of Sexes clusters further from each other on the graph, a huge magmatic bell curve upswells in between them, opening our options. We will have our age of clones, chimerae, and designer babies; and we’ll go on dating one another, even when it seems archaic posed against the novel kinds of families in a Cambrian Explosion of communal “body plans” that place the nuclear “Mom, Dad, & Kids” at the top left of a new periodic table, opening a vast new chemistry of love and reproductive options.
First, though, we will suffer through an era that empowers narcissists to make more narcissists with even greater ease, and without having to recruit a partner to help raise the lovely little bastards they create. I see it now: instead of virtue-signaling as single parents, people running solo with their mini-mes will be the objects of suspicion, probably contempt:
“I’m raising him to inherit my dangerous and lonely life of bounty hunting!”
“Can you believe he paid the carbon tax to make a copy of himself? If everybody did that, we’d need eighteen Earths to make it work…!”
“I thought she was amazing on our first date, till I realized that her little girl was just a backup. No way, dude, I’d only be a plaything for that woman.”
People will look wistfully back on The Good Old Days, when you knew that the cute guy with his kid in Central Park was not just readying the vessel for his memory-and-wallet transfer in another fifty years… And yet none of these biotech shenanigans will ever guarantee the realized dream of solipsists: to carry on forever, and thus matter to the story, True and Timeless, an immortal in the flesh, around which everything ephemerally spins. The best that we can get’s a domino chain of compelling duplicates — in just the same way kids are now already the extension of their parents’ unexamined death anxieties and unfulfilled desires — the iteration of a process changing gradually enough (and also, paradoxically, flickering fast enough) that we’re fooled into interpreting it as continuous.
But history does not repeat itself; it rhymes, and rhyming couplets will appear in longer lines, or shorter, and embedded in more, or less, complicated schemes, as we convince ourselves that we’ve achieved eternity, or push rebelliously opposite, to try and offer something fresh to who, or what, comes next. For meditators this is already the case: the ego is an “optical illusion”“caused” by oscillations in the coming-in-and-out-of-being of sufficiently-alike appearances. You only act like you already, since your “you” is based on feedback and experience, and you can’t ever know the whole you all at once;and you treat your future selves like children, whose responsibility it is to carry on your legacy, as if you owned them, or they owed you; or to break the pattern of a self divided, self-assessed as “broken,” somehow.
Future You, by contrast, is emergent, rhyming, under zero obligation to agree to contracts you imagine it inherits — just as “mind uploading” falsely presupposes that it is desirable to have (or be) some magical computer that believes it’s you for the two seconds that it takes to leave that personality behind. (Why not just die?) Or worse, preserved in static non-life at a ghastly price, unchanging in direct proportion to the violence required to export entropy indefinitely, to transform from human being into humanoid refrigerator. (In this sense, death is life: because participating in the transformation cannot be escaped, and we’re alive as much as we’re aware of our participation.)
Increasingly high fidelity echoes of people further disrupt attempts at linear history.
You already have a fossil of you made of data, “shaped” like you but in n + a million more dimensions than a human can imagine at a time. Everything you do is tracked, and this is common knowledge, and the reason is that information “wants” to integrate, that evolution tilts toward senses and intelligence as adaptations to the ever-more-complex occasions senses bring upon us in the first place. It’s an ever-loving ratcheting of quickening self-inquiry that isn’t always pretty; curiosity comes in the form of turtle-persecuting birds and other more deliberate sadism, the police search and The Eye of Sauron and so on. And this results in things like Cambridge Analytica, which learned to please its masters by presenting them with cunning models of us, insights into how to press our buttons, how to literally steer us into multiple non-overlapping narratives and kill our opportunity to have an easy argument as citizens of a consensual reality.
But people hammer cannons into bells and back again, and round and round…and weapons like the profile advertisers use on you, the cast impression that you leave of every decision that you’ve made since you first intersected with the Internet… (I realize that for most of you, you never intersected but have always been not-two, but this applies to you, as well — and, arguably, The Acceleration is a transtemporal object and exudes time, draws us into it, our attention on it is our fascination to a serpent, and we’re in the belly of the beast Already Always, and there never was no Internet, no Noösphere, no highly patterned information at the intersections, striving.)
…and every decision that was made about you, also part of the Big You you can’t see, You The Elephant, officially and formally transfinite in complexity as we explore down magnitudes of scale, a multitude of multitudes…
…all that can be turned into the instruments of art, and your hard-forked personae generated with assistance from an always-more-complete (but also always-incomplete, retreating, deepeningly weird) recording can be the new media, The Last and First New Media. Remixed along a functionally infinite set of dimensions and indefinitely, you-not-yous proliferate.
Most of you will likely get along.
But fleshy clone or software “mindclone,” the best that we can get is to extend life into non-life, until (as has already happened in the sciences, and will soon pounce out of them to snare us all in its unpleasant truth) these definitions snap, and leave us navigating a deterritorialized liminal zone, an uncanny simulacra-land where “living things” become deprived of their priority, not known transparently and fully as controllable/predictable, but found beneath our microscopes to be composed of ever weirder and unknowable phenomena no would comfortably call “life.” The soul escapes to everywhere, diffuse, without allegiance, coming into focus on the shores in crashing surf, and every bit as happy to inhabit fog computing meshes as our mess of flesh and blood. Complexity “emerges” into our awareness, not into “reality” — it enters from the theater itself, from the occluded, at the “boundaries,” in between the voices of a choir, where sea meets land and oscillating waves reveal by contrast “difference(s),” Gregory Bateson says, “that make…a difference.”
The closest we can get, again, is with provisional, loose, working definitions that stay open to the force of revelation. When Alan Turing asked, “Can a submarine swim?” — when Timothy Morton says that we are “weak” before the Great & Terrible reality of “hyperobjects” like the Biosphere or Singularity — when Kevin Kelly tells us science manufactures questions exponentially faster than it answers them, and so experiment and prayer converge at Mystery worship — this is their message: we lose solid footing in the future (ever-more the loudest part of now), and first to go is the container of belief in sure things that has cradled us for centuries. What once were “sure things” still appear as traces, tracers like the afterimages left on a retina from staring at the Sun, the spectral fossils of modernity, luminous vestiges that haunt the shadows cast by the Atomic Age’s Angel as it enters, interrupting histories and worlds to deliver us into the crowded Noösphere.
The human form will live beyond humanity…often imagined as a diaspora of freed slave replicants.
We might consider this, as Erik Davis does, “re-animism” — a revival of the lived experience of haunted stones and forests, all reincarnated as the silicon chips, fractal aerials, semantic tress of “virtual machines,” and sigil-magic logo mascot animals, quite happy to return to our mundane realities in forms more suited to their nowhere-in-particular-ness. But maybe it’s more accurate to say the disenchantment of the modern world has run its course by finally erasing itself (and the world) as the last spell spoken to protect us from the spooky mess of things, a failing ward — not a “re-animism” so much as an accidental welcoming-back as we all become transparent (and thus sensitive, aware of, maybe even wise) to forces that we never truly banished.
So, the future acts like you because as we grow meek in our attunement to it, we allow a conversation to occur. It learns our mannerisms, like the metamorphic mannequins of Terminator 2 or Alex Garland’s version of Annihilation, or (more heinously) John Carpenter’s The Thing, or (sentimentally) the aliens of Carl Sagan’s Contact — weirdness taking shape to interface with us, inquisitive, its motives totally unknowable.
Rave Egg Wants For Nothing. Rave Egg Is INEFFABLE.
To drive this home with repetition, this is already the case: the alien reality of our own bodies, papered over with a sense of home and deep familiarity, disclosed by our collaborations with nonhuman scientific instruments to be endlessly-shifting puzzleboxes, deeply Other.
“What do you want,” we ask — and, straining to discern an audible reply, we might hear something about selfish genes, or entropy, or childhood attachment issues, or The Lord’s Good Work, or (similarly) our participation in the future history of unborn gods. But these are all refractions and distortions, echoes of the ghost notes of the choir-roar of the black hole that has already swallowed us and who-knows-what-else. The deeper that we listen, the more we empty subjectivity into the object and accept its speech, the more apparent it is that the future acts like you because you act just like the future, too; you can’t not. Consequently, it is “for” no-thing and for all things; it is the All-Thing, and all things are rendered equally mysterious and strange before this knowing.
Uncanny even for the uncanny: The liquid metal mimetic T-1000 mistakes a mannequin for one of his kind.
What this means “in practical terms” is that we will spend this interregnum between Ages either in the bardo, lost within a maelström of appearances; or in the zendo, learning to appreciate (and be) “miegakure,” the aesthetic of the garden in which thirteen stones are carefully arranged so that you never see them all at once. One of the thirteen stones is always hidden, and that incomplete view thus points past delusional “completeness” to a hyperspace in which what we call time is the rotation of a mystery afloat on deeper mystery — just like the “glass chrysanthemum” that meets some DMT explorers at the moment that they’re born out of their lives and into what always-already IS, mistaken as a death because we pass through the distracting clarity of that peacock mandala into no-space/all-space, no-time/all-time, in which everything’s already happened.
It is the water that the water swims in. We are made of it, including you and your AI assistants and your clones and children and the other other-selves more distal still, distilled until it’s easier to see the ghost in the machine, the you you can’t convince yourself is you, in all its splendor and its overwhelming strangeness…
Each zendo is a bardo and vice versa; we are always traveling, always invited into deeper seeing. This gets more and more apparent — or comprises more of the apparent — as things weird around us. We meet weird halfway, accepting our perversity and bottomlessness in just, equal measure to accepting the surprising life of the “inanimate.” We get a hell of a lot cozier with living in a noisy void of whirling, breathing unknowns vying for attention even as they dodge our scrutiny. It’s just another day in the profanely sacred Pandemonium.

From here to there — at least if we pretend that prophecy (in speaking of the timeless, evergreen, and always-true) can be prediction (and thus stretch from past to future “forward,” as with time-space synesthesia, and can be read like Doppler-shifted history) — we stand to suffer some extraordinary shocks.
Expect the sci fi usuals: love bots that take the shape of your departed partner(s); mansions full of talking toys that remix “Beast” and “Beauty;” 3D-printed “respawns” that arrive too soon and sue for your identity; software-person genocide; high-resolution body scans that live online and let you run scenarios until you lose track of which basement level of the dream you’re in; Siri making calls on your behalf and forging your identity (with and without permission); intelligent memorials you visit in VR sets dressed up looking like your parents in their old house; an entire menagerie of slightly-out-of-focus junior holograms of you that sit on either shoulder and debate like parliament about what you should do next. And you listen even though they’re out of focus, because they are privy to a wider view than you, they help translate the flood of information, some folks run a lot more at a time than you, but you’re conservative and two seems plenty.
(It’s already this way — ask any neuroscientist — but soon you’ll have two intuitions, neither of which you can be entirely sure hasn’t been suborned by hackers. Oh well — at least you can compare them to each other for a third opinion, always weighing new perspectives, forking when you all can’t reach consensus, delegating runtime on the fogmesh to the version that refuse to play so they can spin off into some human but solipsistic microverse, your self an integrated legion, cross-platform ecology, that blurs and fringes at the margins, no concrete delineation other than what we place somewhat arbitrarily between the “I” and “it,” the things you are and your appearances.)

With Biden being as Pro-Establishment as it gets, it’s of no surprise that he’s quickly filling positions with Pro-Establishment Bureaucrats. One of his picks is Tom Vilsack to head the USDA. Over the 8 years of Obama’s Reign, Tom earned the nickname “Mr. Monsanto” for approving more GMO’s than any other Agriculture Secretary in history... And obviously making loads of $ per approval.
Because of him we now have:
-Roundup Ready sugar beets which will eventually “eliminate a consumer’s choice to eat non-genetically engineered food.”
-Cloned animals: Tom left the door open for cloned animal products to be labeled “USDA Organic.” The Organic Consumer’s Association says, “It is very likely that the offspring of cloned animals are now being used to produce organic milk and other food.”
-Ethanol-only corn: Unsuitable for human or animal consumption, Syngenta’s ethanol corn has the potential to destroy the genome of edible corn where cross contamination occurs.
-Roundup Ready alfalfa: Monsanto’s first genetically modified perennial went wild, costing alfalfa growers millions.
-Dicamba-tolerant Xtend soy and cotton: Several states have banned Monsanto’s dicamba herbicide since its approval in 2015, after it drifted and destroyed millions of acres of conventional soy, as well as nurseries, vineyards, vegetables, trees and native plants.
-2,4-D-tolerant corn, cotton and soy: A known endocrine disruptor, Dow’s 2,4-D is linked to cancer, thyroid disorders, decreased fertility and birth defects.
-Innate potatoes: The former Monsanto scientist who invented this “RNA interference” GMO exposed the dangers of his work 4 years after Vilsack approved it. He found an accumulation of toxins in the potatoes, and even scarier, he found their double-stranded RNA enters the human bloodstream, where it can influence our own cell function.

Tsunamiは、2020年6月18日木曜日(現地時間)にGoogleがオープンソースのプロジェクトとして公開したセキュリティスキャナーです。 GoogleではGKE(Google Kubernetes Engine)を使ってインターネットからアクセスを受けているシステムの脆弱性診断にTsunamiを使っているそうです。 ・Tsunamiのリリースに関する記事は以下のURLから確認できます。 Google Open Source Blog https://opensource.googleblog.com/2020/06/tsunami-extensible-network-scanning.html Tsunamiは以下の目標・理念を掲げて開発を進めているそうで、超大規模なシステムを高速にスキャンするような用途でも使いやすいソフトウェアを目指しているようです。 Tsunami supports small manually curated set of vulnerabilities(手動でリストアップされた少数の脆弱性に対してのスキャンをサポート)Tsunami detects high severity, RCE-like vulnerabilities, which often actively exploited in the wild(遠隔からのコード実行のような緊急度の高い脆弱性を検知する)Tsunami generates scan results with high confidence and minimal false-positive rate(誤検出率を最小限に抑えた信頼性の高いスキャン結果を生成する)Tsunami detectors are easy to implement.(脆弱性の検知器は簡単に実装できる)Tsunami is easy to scale, executes fast and scans non-intrusively.(簡単にスケールできる。高速に実行され、対象システムに侵入せずにスキャンする)2.Tsunamiの仕組み 公式の���料によるとTsunamiの脆弱性診断の流れは以下のような感じで進むそうです。 出典: Tsunami Scan Orchestration https://github.com/google/tsunami-security-scanner/blob/master/docs/orchestration.md 大きく分けて、Reconnaisance(調査/偵察)とVulnerability Verification(脆弱性の検証)の2つのステップで実行されるそうで、各ステップの役割は以下の通りになります。 Reconnaisance(調査/偵察) Reconnaisance(調査/偵察)のステップでは、ポートスキャンとフィンガープリントの2つのフェーズで対象システムに関する情報を可能な限り収集します。 <ポートスキャン> 対象システムの開いているポート、使われているプロトコル、ネットワークサービスなどを検出するフェーズ。 車輪の再発明をしないために、nmapやmasscanなどの既存のソフトウェアを内部で利用したプラグインを使うことを想定しているようです。 デフォルトではnmapのプラグインが使えます。 <フィンガープリント> 検知したポートで動いているサービスやウェブアプリケーションを検出するフェーズ。 1つのポートで複数のウェブアプリケーションが動いているような場合でも、それぞれのウェブアプリケーションを識別することを目指しているようです。 (例、TCPポートの443でリバースプロキシとしてnginxが動いている状態で、/blogではWordPress、/forumではphpBBが動いているというような構成)。 残念ながら今はまだ実装されてないみたいです。 Vulnerability Verification(脆弱性の検証) Vulnerability Verification(脆弱性の検証)のステップでは、前のステップで収集した情報に基づいて、脆弱性検知のプラグインを並列に実行して対象に脆弱性がないか検証します。 脆弱性検知のプラグインは、基本的には1つの脆弱性に対して1つのプラグインとして実装されることを想定しているようです。 また将来的な構想として、脆弱性検知のプラグインをJavaで実装するほかにPythonやGoなど別の言語でも実装できるようにしたいそうです。 ※現在公開されているTsunamiは開発者に試してもらうことを目的としたPre-Alpha版なので、将来的に仕様に大きな変更が入る可能性があります。 3.Tsunamiを実際にインストールしてみた 今回は以下の環境のサーバーを使って試してみました。 CentOS Linux release 7.7.1908 (Core) 3.10.0-1062.4.1.el7.x86_64 ① 必要なパッケージのインストール 以下のバージョン以降のnmapとncrackが必要となるので、それぞれ公式サイトよりバイナリ及びソースコードをダウンロードしてインストールします。 nmap = 7.80 ncrack = 0.7 nmapとncrackの最新安定版はこちらからダウンロードできます。 ● nmap(binary/source) https://nmap.org/download.html ● ncrack(source) https://nmap.org/ncrack/ また、今回のテスト環境ではncrackのコンパイルのためopensslのバージョンを上げる必要があったので以下のバージョンのopensslもインストールしています。 お使いの環境によってはその他にも必要なものがあるかもしれません。 # Jun 25, 2020 7:53:15 PM com.google.tsunami.main.cli.TsunamiCli main INFO: Full Tsunami scan took 19.54 s. $ ずらずらと実行時のログが表示された後、最後に上記のようなスキャン結果が表示されます。 ポートスキャンに約17秒、脆弱性の検証に約22マイクロ秒の時間がかかったというような各ステップの実行時間や、ポートスキャンで見つかったサービスに対して各Detectorを実行した結果などを確認できます。 6.まとめ Pre-Alpha版ということでドキュメントもほとんどなく機能的にもまだまだ���りない状態で、全体的にまだまだこれからという印象を受けました。 ですが、Reconnaisanceの結果として見つかったサービスに対して脆弱性検知のプラグインを適用していくというTsunamiの基本的な動作の流れは確認することができました。 新たな脆弱性が見つかったらサクッと脆弱性検知のプラグインを書いて流す、そんな使い方になりそうです。 超大規模環境を迅速に脆弱性診断することを目指しているTsunami、ご興味ある方はGithubなど覗いてみてはいかがでしょうか。 自分も時間があればまた自作のプラグインを組み込んでの脆弱性診断などにチャレンジしてみたいと思います。 最後まで読んでいただきありがとうございました!
