SAHARA SENSEI TO TOKI-KUN (2024, JAPAN)
Episode 7
Post 2 of 2
Toki (HACHIMURA RINTARO) listens as it comes out that his crush Sahara (KIZU TAKUMI) and Sahara's former crush Nekoto (HORI KAITO) were separated by a misunderstanding (more or less)
Toki shows how true his feelings are for Sahara at his own detriment. He gives Sahara a push towards Nekoto allowing Sahara to pursue a feeling unfulfilled. Then Toki runs off.
Sahara realizes his feelings for his student out weigh what he once felt for Nekoto. And Nekoto sees it as well. The special connection between student and teacher. And insist Sahara go after Toki.
Note: Yes, Sahara is Toki's teacher and that's a line that shouldn't be crossed. However Toki isn't a child yet he is a minor. And is at the age of consent (based on Japanese law) though still murky waters. Sahara and Toki may end up together (previews suggest it)

Sahara-sensei to Toki-kun Ep 8 (Finale) Stray Thoughts
Last week, we spent way too much time on this backstory with Nekoto and Sahara, only to end with Sahara choosing to be with Toki, and Nekoto encouraging that as if it were a completely reasonable outcome.
I feel like we haven't mentioned that Toki's head is huge.
Well, Nekoto, you finally took your shot and it's over. I hope they don't pair you off with one of the other students.
Girl, what the hell is this energy in the infirmary? Is Sahara gonna go fight some teens now?
This is a dumb final conflict. Fighting street toughs for admissions applications? I respect that they're stressing that Toki is honorable and committed to his promise, but this is unsatisfying. I'm not into this they-met-as-kids thing here.
P'NINE IS HIS HERO!!
Toki convincing him to become a teacher I'd not a slay in these circumstances!
Well, at least they remembered he's a teacher at the very end?
He literally threw the diploma away! "Now that we've acknowledged graduation, let's couple them up! Right outside the school!"
Final Verdict: 4, Not Recommended. Look, if we're going to do a teacher-student pairing, we really need to tackle the social politics of doing that. Stories about taboo can be really good. This was not good. It's so annoying because Japanese teams have handled this well in the past. I actually think the live action version of From Me To You handles this really well. Toki was a compelling character with phenomenal energy, but this show was not the moment. This is my biggest disappointment from Drama Shower yet.
