#NBC TV Ratings Friday

Jimmy Fallon has become the last of the major network late-night hosts to pare his show to four nights a week.
NBC's "Tonight Show," which has aired new episodes from Monday through Friday at 11:35 p.m. EDT, will now air repeats on Fridays for the new TV season, continuing a practice it began over the summer. It's part of a cost-cutting move at NBC, challenged by the high costs and lower ratings in late night, that also led to the firing of Seth Meyers' band. NBC confirmed the move but declined further comment.
ABC's Jimmy Kimmel and CBS' Stephen Colbert have long aired just four shows a week, and Kimmel now takes summers off entirely, as part of his latest contract renewal, although the show airs new episodes with guest hosts.

actually the rating is very bad. As someone that is a ratings guru I can tell you the ins and outs of how ratings works for specific networks. You listed WWE Raw on the USA network that is cable my friend which is a whole different monster, also a sports telecast. 911 on the other hand is a procedural drama on one of the big 4 networks. The Big 4 consist of Fox, ABC, NBC and CBS. The Big 4 will cancel shows if they're not performing up to par and I think Fox is at the point with 911
Listen, dude (gn). You sent me five asks telling me things I already know about tv ratings saying I asked for it, which I absolutely did not, and trying to argue that Fox is disappointed and on the verge of cancelling 9-1-1, which is definitely not true.
As you can see here, 9-1-1 is at the top of the 2022-2023 average for FOX's scripted shows. Even adding in the non-scripted shows, it's doing quite well:
Reality tv is a big ratings draw, this is a well-known fact, but networks will not want to bind themselves to only one kind of show either.
Let's take a look at ratings over all networks:
Huh, would you look at that. Not too shabby by our little weewoo show! Note also the overall big dips in viewers year over year - this is not a problem isolated to 9-1-1, it's happening all across the board.
None of these ratings hold a candle to what news shows and stuff like MLB, NFL and NBA can draw for big games, but network execs are well aware of this, and trying to compare those are like comparing apples to oranges. But I did take a look at how the NBA game last Monday did on ESPN anyway: 0.59 in the key demo.
And I did compare it to RAW, for the simple reason that RAW also airs on Mondays at 8PM. We can compare it with the other big wrestling show too (as their ratings is a topic I'm more than familiar with), if you like: Smackdown on FOX on Fridays, latest numbers are a 0.63 rating, while nothing else on tv (not just cable or network, all of tv) was above 0.43.
Saying FOX is anywhere near cancelling 9-1-1 for their ratings is a ridiculous statement. Now, you are right in saying (in another of your messages) that procedural shows are at risk of the original actors wanting to move on and/or dragging out the story far longer than would be ideal, but I don't think we're at that point yet with 9-1-1. We'll know more come May when show renewals take place (and I think some of the main actors' contracts as well), but it's no use speculating about anyone leaving as there's been no indication of that yet.
Also no offense, but calling yourself a ratings guru is hilarious and makes you sound like a pro wrestling twitter user that whines in Bryan Alvarez's mentions every week when he posts the WWE and AEW ratings.
#for anyone confused by the numbers: i'm working on another post that goes into more detail regarding what the different ratings mean#and how they're measured; so that's coming#ask frida#anon#911 ratings

Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage is picking up where predecessors The Big Bang Theory and Young Sheldon left off — as the most watched program on broadcast Thursday night.
The Young Sheldon spinoff opened with 6.563 million total viewers in Live+Same day linear ratings Oct. 17 in the Thursday 8 PM slot previously occupied by BBT and Young Sheldon, according to Nielsen data.
That was the high mark for the night, which featured Thursday Night Football and two baseball playoffs games on cable/streaming as well as some of the most popular broadcast series, led by the top breakout of the season so far, CBS’ Matlock.
In its time period premiere, the legal drama starring Kathy Bates drew 6.383M viewers. That was down 18% from the big 7.73M (L+SD) who tuned in for the special Sept. 22 sneak peak” behind an NFL-boosted 60 Minutes but still a very solid number only bested by Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage last night.
Of the other high-profile series last night, including ABC’s 9-1-1, Doctor Odyssey and Grey’s Anatomy and NBC’s Law & Order, Law & Order: SVU and Found, only one, the Season 3 premiere of CBS’ Ghosts, hammocked between Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage and Matlock, logged more than 5M viewers in L+SD, 5.57M. CBS had the four most watched programs of the night, with Elsbeth pulling 7.761M at 10 PM, up 4% from its series debut last season.)
Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage also ranked as the #1 program on Thursday night among Adults 25–54 (0.83 rating) and Adults 18–49 (0.47 rating, tied with Ghosts).
The L+SD viewership for Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage was above that for such stalwarts as CBS’ NCIS and the FBI franchise, which debuted earlier this week, and NBC’s One Chicago, which means that the multi-camera comedy is headed into the weekend as the most watched entertainment program Monday-Friday (with Matlock as close second).
Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage was off from the last fall’s premiere of Young Sheldon (7.991M), which was buoyed by the show’s Netflix run and Season 7 being the show’s final chapter. Vs. the Season 6 debut (6.879M), the sequel’s premiere was on par.
From Warner Bros. TV, Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage follows Georgie (Montana Jordan) and Mandy (Emily Osment) as they raise their young family in Texas while navigating the challenges of adulthood, parenting and marriage. In addition to Jordan & Osment, the cast includes Rachel Bay Jones, Will Sasso, Dougie Baldwin, and Jessie Prez. Series creators Chuck Lorre, Steven Molaro, and Steve Holland serve as executive producers. Mark Cendrowski directed and executive produced the first episode.

US elections: Trump offers 3 September TV debates against Harris

US elections: Trump offers 3 September TV debates against Harris
Donald Trump proposed three September debates against Kamala Harris on Thursday as he sought to wrest back some of the attention lavished on his rival since her blockbuster entry into the US presidential election.
Harris has ignited the Democratic ticket in the last 18 days, pulling in record fundraising and obliterating the Republican ex-president’s polling lead to open up a much broader path to victory than her party would have dared to hope for just a month ago.
The country’s first female, Black and South Asian vice president heads into the Democratic National Convention in Chicago later this month on the back of a series of packed rallies that have won plaudits for a positive message that has reenergised the base.
Meanwhile Trump – who addressed journalists at his oceanfront estate in Florida – has found himself on unfamiliar ground as something of a bystander, eclipsed by Harris’s rise as he has scaled back his own campaigning.
“I hope she agrees,” Trump told journalists, after he said he had arranged debates with television networks on September 4, 10 and 25.
Harris responded on Thursday that she would “look forward” to facing off on ABC News on September 10, a previously scheduled debate that the two campaigns had sparred over after Trump temporarily backed out.
There was no immediate word from the Harris camp about the other proposed dates, the first with Trump-friendly Fox News and the final with NBC News.
‘Same policies’
Trump revived a series of familiar attacks on his opponent – repeatedly questioning the intelligence of the former state attorney general and US senator, in an event punctuated by falsehoods.
Trump made untrue claims on all manner of topics around the election and his record in office, from the price of gasoline to his crowd sizes, US military deaths in Afghanistan and the 2021 insurrection at the US Capitol by his supporters.
He assured reporters there would be a peaceful transfer of power after the November 5 vote – but questioned whether the election would be honest and claimed that the last transfer had been peaceful, despite the deadly Capitol riot.
Trump also rejected a suggestion that he would need to recalibrate his campaign to take account of his new opponent after Harris replaced President Joe Biden on the ticket on July 21.
“It’s the same policies, open borders, weak on crime. She is, I think, she’s worse than Biden,” he said.
The former president’s debate with a dismally performing Biden in June spelled the end of the veteran Democrat’s reelection campaign, but Trump had been reluctant to face Harris on neutral territory.
The 78-year-old has been struggling to come up with effective attack lines to define Harris while delivering a series of increasingly confounding nicknames for his opponent.
‘True strength’
The news conference was his first public appearance since Harris – a generation younger than Trump at 59 – announced running mate Tim Walz and embarked on a tour of closely fought election battlegrounds.
She and Walz appeared on Thursday in Michigan ahead of a trip to the racially diverse “Sun Belt” states of Arizona and Nevada for rallies on Friday and Saturday.
“The true measure of the strength of a leader is not based on who you beat down. It’s based on who you lift up,” she told a crowd of around 170 supporters in Detroit, at a much smaller event than her recent arena rallies.
Sabato’s Crystal Ball, a leading election forecaster, shifted three of its ratings in favor of Democrats on Wednesday, moving Minnesota and New Hampshire from “leans Democratic” to “likely Democratic” and Georgia from “leans Republican” to “toss-up.”
Meanwhile Marquette University Law School released a nationwide survey showing that, among likely voters, Harris now leads Trump by six points – 53 percent to 47 percent.
Despite her intensive campaign schedule, Harris has taken almost no questions from reporters since entering the race and Trump had been seeking to turn her lack of media exposure into an election issue even before Thursday’s news conference.
“She hasn’t done an interview – she can’t do an interview, she’s barely competent. But I look forward to the debates, because I think we have to set the record straight,” he said in Florida.
Harris said later on Thursday: “I’ve talked to my team. I want us to get an interview scheduled before the end of the month.”

Tooning In 16. Craig Clark part 3 of 7
DL: In 1983, you worked at a Company called Tigerfly.
What was that?
CC: That was and is Arnie Wong's company. I met him at Duck Soup in 1974. Arnie now lives in Hawaii. Tigerfly was in Santa Monica. We did commercials, development on a Möbius feature, Internal Transfer, Automan VFX etc. Superman director Peter Ramsey worked theirs as well as Disney FX sup. Marlon West. Also surf artist Rick Griffin.
DL: how was the environment at the studio?
CC: Creative , hip, funky , family of westside surf artists
youtube
He sends me a teaser of an project which ultimately never got made which was the collaboration with French comic artist Moebius, Internal Transfer, which he worked as an animator
youtube
youtube
Also some Sunkist and G.I. Joe commercials he sends me, also worked on as an animator. I’m surprised the latter one wasn’t done by Sunbow.
DL: You were on The
Philadelphia Experiment as a special effects animator, how was that?
CC: Cool, that was at New World in Venice at Roger Corman Studio......later became Digital Domain. hand drawn electro fx. There was a lot of work west of Sepulveda at the time. The guy on the bed with the electro fx https://youtu.be/WAmpXDi53YQ?si=vrhhlmW1wD0-u5n9
youtube
He sends me a trailer for The Philadelphia Experiment (1984)
DL: What was My Science Project, as you were
Special effects animator.
CC: My Science project was done at Namebrand FX in Santa Monica off the lot. John Scheele produced the FX, we shot the elements at his studio. The T rex at the end was my shot sequence.... https://youtu.be/nB2ToxVtoc4?si=21cPOJqje2orJAuX
youtube
He sends me a trailer for My Science Project (1985).
A bunch of electro fx not pictured there. Boy that was some cheesy 80's synth music on there lol!
DL: Well I guess you’re the electricity guy who drew the electric on paper than scan them into the film.
CC: Exactly. I would do the same over at Boss Film on Poltiergiest 2, Big Trouble in Little China, and SolarBabies. But it was all 70mm. Huge 22 field paper, later hand inked.
DL: You were special effects director for the TV series, Misfits of Science for NBC. And How did you felt being moved to
VFX director and what role does
he or she does.
CC: That was a Namebrand again, that was my day job, the night job was at Boss film from 6pm to 1am. Universal trusted me since I did a good job on Automan. So much so I was on call for other Universal shows like Miami Vice. The fx producer were David Garber and John Green. David Garber was famous for Battlestar Galactica so he was in good standing at Universal. I still love that show. Misfits was part of the Universal power line up on Friday Nights. we got good numbers but Knight Rider was already 3 seasons in and was closer to Syndication so we lasted one season. We did some cool stuff like slitcan stretching high speed fx with the characters. When ever my hand drawn electricity came on the the ratings went up, so they called for more of it. The Producer was James Parriot who later did Grey's Anatomy, It was also Courtney Cox's first show before Friends.
youtube
He sends me a compilation of the series where one of the main characters uses his electric powers.
DL: Ah, thought it was Mac and Me but I remember that was Jennifer Aniston!
I send him a laugh out loud emoji 😂
DL: You Worked as FX Assistant Animator for Boss Film company, did you felt like that was a downgrade from your previous Title?
CC: Yeah, but it was a feature with some IlM guys so that was cool. I met Wes Takahaski who helped me get into ILM later in 1994. Boss had just finished Ghostbusters at the time.
DL: How was the environment of Boss Film company?
CC: Fun, like an fx nightclub. Music playing, free popcorn. The day crew was more serious I think, but we just had a good time and did great work. Some Disney guys were there too like Scott Santoro, who I later worked with at Amblimation in London on Fievel Goes West.
DL: That's awesome!
CC: We were nominated for a VFX Oscar on Poltergeist 2. https://youtu.be/mjhr8EdGyD0?si=RldZcwzw_9-rMM0V
youtube
He sends me the trailer for Poltergeist 2 (1986)
DL: You was assistant special effects animator for Poltergeist 2.
CC: Yes, Following up of Mauro Maresa who later worked with me on Bill and Teds Excellent Adventure.
youtube
Sends me a clip from the film featuring all the times the characters use the iconic phone booth.
I did fx on it, phone booth.
DL: You were an
Special effects animator on Big
Trouble in Little China. How was that?
CC: Yeah , I think we already went over the Boss film stuff, part of the night crew when I was working on Misfits of Science during the day. Mauro Maressa, Scott Santaro, Kevin Cachaver, Ed Coffee, Wes Takahashi all on the show. There were Ghostbusters fx model sheets sitting around ....
youtube
He sends me the climax to Big Trouble in Little China (1986)
DL: So as we talk about previously, how worked
at Dream quest Images.How was
the enviroment at the studlo before the
company got bought by Disney in 1997?
CC: Dream Quest was a small but active studio stated by 5 UCLA students in Culver City. They did Vistavision work as well as 35mm work. They got all the fx shots that Boss Film could not do since they were all 70 mm. The first Predictor movie was done there as well as Nightmare 3. I animation directed a few commericials, Taco Ball ,Golden Grahams, etc. https://youtu.be/aFwKhPnBs3Y?si=OtpjisO0bot3et6_
youtube
He sends me a commercial for Golden Grahams which he animated on.
DL: Is that supposed to be sonny? The Golden Grahams mascot?
CC: he didn't have a name....just called him dollop. I animated it solo. no assistants.
DL: Wow! That’s impressive!
CC: Thanks. I think I was 26 with a few credits so they gave me a shot.
DL: So, personal thoughts, I
Wanna spill on you that I find it strange that Disney would go on to buy Lucasfilm, which owns ILM, which you worked for later in 1994. Why did Disney bought the studio only to shut it down and buy Lucasfilm? (That’s a question for you, I forgot to mention.)
CC: Disney is a corporation looking for quarterly profits for their shareholders. It is no longer a company run by their family as you know.
DL: Yeah, I mean they own ILM now, so they own all the great special effects in the world! But anyway, you worked on Nightmare of Elm street 3 as a special effects animator, an upgrade from storyboard artist. How was the experience?
CC: Good, hears the shot do your stuff. This time we finished the plasma animation using watered down inks that were shot and comped. We went over that as well.
DL: What’s your thoughts on the Elm Street franchise ?
CC: Surprised it lasted. I've outgrown it but my kids love it. The horror genre has exploded over the years. There was a crew fan based meeting at Notre Dame high school in the Valley in the 90's. Kids asked questions to the old crew. I forget most of it.
DL: You worked on My Demon Lover as a special effects animator, what was that about?
CC: That was through Chris Cassady's Roto FX of America studio. Quick fx job, I remember some faces or masks exploding. I did the animation over at Chris' studio, he shot the elements over at his place. I think he sent it our for opticals some were else. The studio was a Saward in Hollywood behind the old Bob Clampett building where we did the first Simpsons series. There were lots of Film labs there , CFI, Glenn Glenn sound. Old Republic Pictures and the Columbia Cartoon studio was there a long time ago. Historical street for film. Seward st.
DL: Your claim to fame, Bill Melendez Productions, how was the environment of the studio?
CC: Wow I'm famous for that? I'd like to work on the new ones in Canada... I worked directly under Bill Melendez for a week in studio. Then I just worked at home animating four Peanuts specials for him, as well as Cathy and Frosty Returns. And later another Peantuts one in the 2000's.
DL: What was the studio like? Was it magical?
CC: It was like a little house, actually two houses together. Folks were very nice. I love working there.
DL: Ah, so I think it was the only studio besides filmation who were doing TV animation in the US. And I believe the last.
CC: maybe so, but a few months later I started working on the first season of the Simpsons down the street in totally in house. 1989. Melendez was 1988 during the last bad writers strike.
DL: Ah, did you met Bill or Lee? The other guy who owns the studio. Lee Mendelson?
CC: Never saw Lee, just Bill. Shep Menkin also did voices but I did not know it at the time. (Forgive and Forget movie 1968)
DL: Ah, ok, so your friend was also on Peanuts.
CC: This is America Charlie Brown, yes.
DL: Did he did the adults? The “waa waa” voice?
CC:no?

Pat Sajak’s ‘Wheel of Fortune’ final appearance date set
The 77-year-old announced his retirement a year ago
The final week will show highlights of Sajak’s funniest moments Ryan Seacrest takes over; Vanna White stays as co-host
(NewsNation) — After 41 seasons spanning 43 years, Pat Sajak’s time as host of “Wheel of Fortune” will come to an end in less than three weeks.
Sajak has already recorded his last episodes, and his last show will air in June.
The beloved “Wheel of Fortune” host announced last year his plans to retire as host of the show.
“Well, the time has come. I’ve decided that our 41st season, which begins in September, will be my last,” Sajak said at the time. “It’s been a wonderful ride, and I’ll have more to say in the coming months. Many thanks to you all.”
Sajak, who has had a four-decade run on the show, took over hosting duties in 1981 when the show aired on network daytime television.
He was joined a year later by Vanna White.
In 1983, the nighttime version of the show was launched and became one of the top-rated syndicated TV programs.
Who’s taking over for Pat Sajak on ‘Wheel of Fortune’?
White will continue to co-host one of the most popular game shows in television history, and Ryan Seacrest will take over for Sajak. Seacrest will also remain the host of “American Idol.”
White, the show’s puzzle board handler, is in until the 2025-2026 season, with a reported contract extension through that time.
When White is out, Sajak’s 28-year-old daughter Maggie will reportedly fill in on occasion.
“I think she’s a good replacement if I can’t be there for some reason,” White told E! News last year. “She’s been around it her whole life, so I think she can fill in for me for sure.”
Pat Sajak’s final ‘Wheel of Fortune’ episodes
Sajak’s last “Wheel of Fortune” show will air June 7. It will cap a week of shows themed “Thanks for the Memories” in honor of the 77-year-old.
The show’s producers have collected some of Sajak’s funniest moments for those final episodes. What will Pat Sajak do after ‘Wheel of Fortune’
After leaving “Wheel of Fortune,” Sajak will reportedly continue his work as chairman of the Board of Trustees for Hillsdale College in Michigan.
youtube
Pat Sajak’s final ‘Wheel of Fortune’ airs Friday.
What to know about his spin as host
Pat Sajak will wind down his record-breaking spin hosting “Wheel of Fortune” on Friday night.
Here’s what to know about the game show icon’s decadeslong tenure on the show.
When does Sajak’s final episode air?
The “Wheel of Fortune” Season 41 finale, titled “Thanks for the Memories,” airs at 6:30 p.m. CT Friday on ABC. Thursday’s penultimate episode included a farewell message from Sajak’s longtime co-host, Vanna White.
How long has Sajak hosted?
Sajak has hosted the Hangman-style game show for more than 40 years, stepping in for original host Chuck Woolery during the second season in 1982, when “America’s Game” still aired on daytime television.
“Wheel of Fortune” debuted in 1975 with Woolery and Susan Stafford leading the show before the “Love Connection” host departed over a salary dispute with NBC.
Legendary producer Merv Griffin hired Sajak and famous letter-turner White in 1982, and the two have become fixtures of the series.
In 2019, Sajak scored the Guinness Book of World Records title for longest career as a game show host on the same show.
He will retire with almost 8,000 episodes to his name.
He earned three Daytime Emmy Awards as game show host during his run and a Daytime Emmy Lifetime Achievement Award in 2011.
He also has a People’s Choice Award and a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame credited to his “Wheel” run.
In 2021, “Celebrity Wheel of Fortune” premiered in prime time on ABC with Sajak usually serving as host.
Why is Sajak stepping down?
The 77-year-old announced his retirement a year ago, writing on X (formerly Twitter) that the current season would be his last.
In an interview with his daughter, “Wheel” social correspondent Maggie Sajak, the host said that he could continue hosting the show if he wanted to but felt he needed to exit on his own terms.
“I’d rather leave a couple years too early than a couple years too late,” he said, adding, “I’m looking forward to whatever’s ahead.”
Who’s taking over ‘Wheel of Fortune’? And when?
Less than a month after Sajak revealed his retirement, “American Idol” and “On Air” host Ryan Seacrest announced that he would step into the emcee’s shoes.
At the time, Seacrest lauded his predecessor for the way Sajak “always celebrated the contestants and made viewers feel at home.”
Seacrest, who signed a multiyear deal with Sony Pictures Television last June, will begin the new gig in September.
White is set to remain on “Wheel of Fortune” for the next two years.
She has previously filled in for Sajak as host on a few occasions and, before the brief search for Sajak’s successor came to an end, fans campaigned for White to replace her longtime colleague.
What did Sajak do before ‘Wheel’?
It’s hard to think about Sajak doing anything other than soliciting consonants and vowels or declaring a player “bankrupt,” but his storied career began long before “Wheel of Fortune.”
Born and raised in Chicago, Sajak got his broadcasting start as a newscaster and announcer at a small radio station, looking to broadcast legends Arthur Godfrey, Dave Garroway, Steve Allen and Jack Paar for inspiration to shape his TV personality.
He served in the U.S. Army in the late 1960s and was sent to Vietnam, where he hosted a daily show for Armed Forces Radio in Saigon shouting “Good morning, Vietnam!” each day.
After being discharged, he worked at small radio stations in Kentucky and Tennessee, spending several years as a staff announcer, talk show host and weatherman at WSM-TV in Nashville, Tennessee.
A talent scout for NBC-TV in Los Angeles spotted him and brought him onboard in 1977 to serve as the local NBC station’s primary weatherman.
In 1981, Griffin asked him to assume hosting duties on “Wheel” when it still aired during the day on NBC, well before the syndicated version premiered in 1983.
“The nice thing about working in local TV in L.A.,” Sajak has said, “is that decision makers are watching you every night.”
What else is on Sajak’s resume?
During his tenure, Sajak has entertained generations of fans, inspired “Saturday Night Live” and “South Park” jokes and generated numerous headlines about his behavior with contestants.
He also briefly hosted the short-lived late-night talk show “The Pat Sajak Show” in the late 1980s and played himself in a number of films and TV shows, including “The A-Team,” “227,” “Airplane II: The Sequel,” “Santa Barbara,” “The King of Queens,” “Just Shoot Me!” and “Fresh Off the Boat.”
“We became part of the popular culture … more importantly became part of people’s lives,” he said in a recent interview with his daughter, who made her “Wheel” debut as a 1-year-old when she joined her dad onstage.
The Princeton and Columbia University grad has been the show’s social correspondent since 2021.
Sajak’s awkward dad jokes have raised eyebrows in recent years, with the stalwart host fully committing to an odd voyeurism quip while bantering with White during a 2023 episode.
He also has landed in hot water for asking her if she liked watching opera in the buff and repeatedly raised social media hackles when he mocked and pranked a contestant over her fear of fish, poked fun at a man and his long beard by referring to him as one of Santa’s helpers, and put a winning contestant in a chokehold.
What’s next for Sajak?
Sajak said he’s looking forward to time to “with my crossword puzzles” and family. He will continue his duties as chairman of the Hillsdale College Board of Trustees, a position he took up in 2019.

I’ve been through this so many times! when a low grade moron tv exec gets it in their pin heads that they hate a show, they will deep six a great show for whatever whim it is.
Star Trek is rhe classic case. They begrudgingly green lit season 3, then burned off Roddenberry and installed a TERRIBLE producer (we now call “showrunner”.) Superfan Bjo Trumble dubbed him “Kiss of Death Freidberger”
so NBC, then deliberately sabotaged ST TOS by sticking it on Friday night at 10pm. Then they get to say “sorry, you don’t have the ratings”.
and don’t get my started on Firefly and Farscape! 🤬🤬🤬🤬
He is NOT fucking around.

Magnum P.I. Canceled at NBC Magnum P.I.'s return is being cut short. NBC has opted to cancel Magnum P.I. following the second half of Magnum P.I. Season 5. That means fans have just ten episodes of the series remaining, and there's no telling when these episodes will see the light of day. Deadline first reported the news, revealing that NBC "has opted not to order additional episodes" beyond that, with a looming June 30 deadline for the network to keep cast options for a potential Season 6. There are various reasons why the network could have opted to end the series: The Hollywood writers strike is about to enter its third month, and writing on new episodes cannot commence until resolved. The first half of Magnum P.I. Season 5 was buried on Sundays, despite the show proving to perform well on Fridays while on CBS. The numbers were far lower than expected on NBC, and if the show isn't getting a renewal, it's likely the show wasn't getting much of a boost in post-airdate numbers. The budget could also have been a problem, with many companies in belt-tightening mode in recent months due to the challenges that face the TV sector. The good news here is that fans are getting ten more episodes, which have already been filmed, so there's a good chance they'll see the light of day sooner rather than later. The bad? If the episodes have already been filmed and the cast and creatives were holding out for a sixth season, there won't be any closure. Yes, it's possible that the upcoming season finale was written so that it could function as a series finale, but it's unfair to the fans that campaigned to save the show in the past not to get a decent ending. Magnum P.I. initially aired on CBS and delivered strong ratings across four seasons, so there were many unhappy fans when the series got the axe. Magnum P.I. stars Jay Hernandez, Perdita Weeks, Zachary Knighton, Stephen Hill, Amy Hill, and Tim Kang. What are your thoughts on the cancellation? Hit the comments below. Listeners in Canada, particularly in Southwestern Ontario, have been relying on WTSS-FM's powerful signal producing up to 110,000 watts for almost 5 decades now for their daily dose of radio entertainment and news outside the Buffalo area. The FM station has undergone several name changes over the years since mid-November 1946, from WBEN-FM's Rock 102 during its inception in 1974 until its now iconic name as Kiss 98.5.
Along with EMF's ownership of Air1 & K-LOVE, based in the suburb of Franklin in Nashville, Tennessee, U.S.A., a public non-commercial music radio group serving 1,000 FM stations statewide -- under both the aforementioned christian music radio formats.

Aside from WTSS-FM's Kiss 98.5, Townsquare Media is taking over with a new and different frequency after Star 102.5, which is now WMSX-FM's Star 96.1mhz (formerly The Breeze) in Buffalo, per reports from the Radio Insight.
Within moments at the end of the 9am hour, the station will no longer broadcast from this FM dial, causing concern among its targeted or specific demographic audiences. The Canadian and Buffalo listeners of Star 102.5 have been thrown into chaos due to its imminent broadcast closure, because it was nothing to do between the broadcast management of Audacy Inc. and EMF.
In an industry where the listening rating wars and fierce competition abound, such as the music radio sectors with stations like K-LOVE and various FM radio channels in Canada and America, what's favored today may be tomorrow's afterthought.
At present, the FM station turns to their Top 40 and Contemporary Hit Radio needs, which now spans from WKSE-FM to WTSS-FM.

Jennifer Shah, ‘Real Housewives’ Star, Sentenced in Fraud Scheme
Jennifer Shah, who gained fame as a character on the reality TV reality show "The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City," was sentenced to six and five years in prison for her role in a telemarketing scheme which made thousands of victims ill the prosecution said. The actress. Shah used the scheme to fund her lavish lifestyle that included the rental of a 9,420-square-foot mansion located within Park City, Utah, which she called"the "Shah ski chalet," an apartment that she rented situated in Midtown Manhattan and a leased Porsche Panamera, prosecutors said. Criminal charges against Mrs. Shah had been heavily reported on by the Bravo reality show and turned the allegations against her into a compelling plot aspect. When she announced their catchy tagline to the second season of the series she stated, "The only thing I'm guilty of is being Shah-mazing." In court documents the prosecution cited this phrase to prove the case that Mrs. Shah had mocked the accusations against her. Mrs. Shah's lawyers stated in court documents in court papers that their show was "semi-scripted, heavily edited facsimile of 'reality' intentionally manipulated to maximize ratings" and that the show did not accurately reflect her views on the matter. The show was blamed by her lawyers to make it appear like, as her sentence date approached, that she was a criminal. Shah was "intransigent, defiant, and often even unrepentant, about her actions here." "Nothing could be further from the truth," Ms. Shah's lawyers have written. "Just as Jen Shah has never been a 'housewife,' little else is real about her persona and caricature as portrayed by the editors" of "The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City." A spokesperson for NBCUniversal Bravo, Bravo's parent company has declined to comment. This show debuted at the end of 2020 is supposed to show women living in a glamorous way and negotiating issues related to sexuality and religion in the city where the headquarter of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. When she was sentenced in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York on Friday She. Shah said she was sorry for her part in the scheme, which the prosecution claimed was a scam that defrauded victims by offering fake "business services" that promised that they would help them earn money online. Her court ordered her to repay $6.6 mill in reparations, and the right to take back $6.5 million along with 30 high-end objects, including designer bags and jewelry, prosecutors stated. Alongside the sentence of 78 months prison In addition to the sentence of 78 months in prison, the defendant, Ms. Shah, 49, from Salt Lake City, was sentenced to five years controlled release. "I want to apologize to all the victims and families and I take full responsibility for the harm I caused and will pay full restitution to all of the victims," Ms. Shah said, according to NBC News. She continued, "I recognize that some of you lost hundreds, and others lost thousands, and I promise to repay." Prosecutors stated that, from 2012 through March 2021 when she was detained in March 2021, she. Shah had been a key figure in the vast scheme, and she had assisted in the selling of leads or contact details for possible victims. Victims were told in "coaching" sessions that the sessions could help them make money from online companies the prosecutors have written in court papers. Instead, the session was designed for the victims that in order to help their online businesses successful they'd need to purchase additional items and servicesthat are of no or little significance, the prosecutors said. The majority of victims were older than 55, and some claimed to have lost hundreds of thousands of dollars, which deprived them of the majority of their savings over their lives the prosecutors claimed. The accused, Ms. Shah was not deterred by Federal Trade Commission investigations and enforcement actions, or the arrest of scores of other people involved with the scam, as prosecutors claimed. In the end, they claimed, she attempted to conceal her crime by telling people to lie and erase texts, and registering banks and businesses under the names of others and attempting to relocate certain of her business operations to Kosovo. Before she was sentenced to a charge of wire fraud in the month of July for wire fraud to one of the counts she was convicted of conspiracy to commit wire fraud. Shah sold "Justice for Jen Shah" T-shirts which included "NOT GUILTY" on the front and "#justiceforjenshah" on the back the prosecutors claimed. "With today's sentence, Jennifer Shah finally faces the consequences of the many years she spent targeting vulnerable, elderly victims," Damian Williams who is his position as the U.S. prosecutor of the Southern District of New York spoke in an interview. "These individuals were lured in by false promises of financial security, but in reality, Shah and her co-conspirators defrauded them out of their savings and left them with nothing to show for it," Mr. Williams said. Prosecutors asked that the court to sentence Mrs. Shah to 10 years in prison. Ms. Shah's lawyers had requested for an indefinite sentence of three years. They wrote in the court documents the fact that they were "an exceptional mother and a good woman who has already been punished extensively as a result of the sins of her past." "Though Ms. Shah admittedly played an important role in the particular fraud in which she was involved, she was only one of many people involved, was not involved in all facets of the conspiracy, never communicated with any of the victims, and she clearly did not invent this particular fraud," the lawyers of her client have written. "Nor was she a mastermind." Claire Fahy contributed reporting. Read the full article

Loki delivered Marvel’s biggest series premiere on Disney+ yet, according to Nielsen’s streaming rankings. Netflix’s Sweet Tooth, meanwhile, displaced Lucifer as the top overall streaming title in the week of June 7-13.
The first episode of Loki racked up 731 million minutes of viewing time, significantly higher than the premieres of The Falcon and the Winter Soldier (495 million minutes) and WandaVision (434 million) earlier in the year. Loki, which premiered on Wednesday, June 9, also had two extra days to gather viewers as a result of Disney+ switching the release dates for its originals from Fridays to Wednesdays. More than 14 million Disney+ accounts watched the premiere, based on its 52-minute running time.
Sweet Tooth catapulted to the top overall spot in Nielsen’s rankings in its second week. The eight-episode series, based on Jeff Lemire’s comic, grew by better than 80 percent to 1.43 billion minutes of viewing time. That was enough to knock Lucifer out of the No. 1 perch, though the series still drew more than 1 billion minutes of viewing time. The latter fell by about 45 percent from 1.84 billion minutes the previous week.
NBC drama Manifest scored strong viewing with its third-season debut on Netflix, drawing 1.11 billion minutes of viewing time for the week. (NBC canceled the Warner Bros.-produced series on June 15.) Disney+’s Raya and the Last Dragon, whose premium window lifted at the end of May, spent a second week atop the movie charts with 953 million minutes of watch time.
Nielsen’s streaming ratings cover viewing on TV sets only and don’t include minutes watched on computers or mobile devices. The ratings only measure U.S. audiences, not those in other countries, and currently only include Amazon, Disney+, Hulu and Netflix in its rankings.
