so i may have done a little bit of a rewrite--

redesigns and rewrites of naj!PJ/Fresh/Cil/Cray under the cut <3

ok so first, PJ!!

He's the sports committee vice captain! He plays basketball still, but he kindof collects injuries like pokemon cards because he's got brittle bones, hence the wrist brace, jammed fingers, and a knee brace you cant see. The hoodie he's wearing is a school hoodie and has his name on the back, because he plays sports. He's very tired. all the time. he has a very laid back attitude toward most everything.

Now Fresh!

He's part of the student council! He still skates, hence gloves and his broken arm, and he gets to keep his red lenses because he has photophobia and the school lights are just way too much and he gets migraines a lot. He doesnt get bullied much anymore because he has the authority to actually punish the kids who bullied him, now. He's a lot more bitter and 'spiteful', and less uwu than og Fresh.

Cray my beloved

He's part of the club that writes the school newspaper, and he takes it very seriously !!! He wants to be a journalist someday. The school doesnt have a 'news channel' anymore because. why would it in the first place. Still best friends with Cil, which means PJ and Fresh have to see each other a lot. cue: awkward gay interactions.

Finally, Cil!

Still plays baseball, because i love that for him. Still ace, too. He and Cray get along like a house on fire. He's wearing a jersey because, again, its a school jersey because he plays sports. He thought the hoodie was ugly and PJ thought the jersey was tacky, and they make fun of each other for it all the time. He and Cray have combined their knowledge, and are endlessly amused by PJ and Fresh pining for each other while knowing they both like each other back. They have a 'bet' for who confesses first. Error's in on the joke.

Who is your most chaotic oc and who's your least chaotic oc?

Most chaotic is a big tie between Rook and Naj. Both are most likely to completely rewrite reality, and it does get more chaotic than that. but you wouldn't be able to tell that by looking at them, so I think honorary most chaotic goes to Bird, who really isn't that Chaotic, so long as you know him you know his answer is going to be "stab first ask questions later". But he has a penchant for jumping off tall buildings and scaring the shit out of people so I figured he got a mention ;)

(also shout out to brain who texts exclusively in incomprehensible strings of emojis)

Least chaotic is probably Seth, who is the natural foil to his twin Naj and has impeccable Dad Energy. And also Adiran, who is the only thing keep the Foxes and Fate household running even remotely smoothly.

At this year’s IJL, the National Association of Jewellers (NAJ) will host two engaging talks and introduce its revised JET Certificate.

Retail business owners and their staff members visiting on Sunday 3rd will have the opportunity to hear from JET tutor, Mark Houghton, who will offer a quick-fire taste of the new JET Certificate Qualification in The Academy at 4pm. On Monday 4th, the NAJ’s director of education, Kate Madelin, will offer bespoke one-on-one advice in the Skills Lab. This is the perfect opportunity to ask your questions and discover exactly how your staff can #GetsetwithJET.

With just a few days to go until the doors of Olympia open, Kate Madelin answers our questions about the refreshed JET Certificate and how it can benefit retail businesses up and down the country.

Q. What makes the NAJ’s JET courses different from others on offer? 

JET courses are long-established, meticulously developed and ably supported by an experienced and committed team of tutors. Another real benefit is that courses are completed online, which means you won’t need to book time off work or disrupt your working day. Every successful JET student receives a certificate or diploma, so they can display their qualifications in the work place.

Q. Who is the JET Certificate Qualification designed for and what does it teach them?

On completion of the JET Certificate, you will have extensive jewellery product knowledge including an understanding of the Four Cs and how to identify coloured gemstones. You will also be able to recognise precious metals and identify hallmarks and have a good working knowledge of watches and clocks. You will excel in customer care and your newly acquired knowledge has been proven to increase sales for previous students.

Q. How has the Certificate been updated and how has it been improved?

JET Certificate (formerly JET 1) has been rewritten to ensure its relevance across the whole of the jewellery industry. The NAJ have updated the modules to incorporate information that is applicable across the whole supply chain and not just in retail environments. The design module now reflects a wonderful design heritage and showcases the prominent designers of today. There is also a new module on jewellery manufacture to give students a good working knowledge of how jewellery is made. This course is now just as suitable for a designer maker or craftsperson as it is to an employee of a large retailer or manufacturer.

NAJ courses have always been developed by industry practitioners. Many experts including some of the industry’s most prominent designers and manufacturers have been part of the recent extensive rewrite of JET Certificate.

Q. What other courses does the NAJ offer that are relevant to the jewellery industry?

We have four additional courses that are relevant to those working in the jewellery trade. Graduating from the JET Diploma, you will understand metals and hallmarking, diamonds and gemstones and watches. You will have an excellent knowledge of the history of jewellery, the design process and manufacturing techniques. You will be able to introduce customers to all the services on offer including valuations and repairs. You will also have an awareness of retail law and the essential elements of security. Ultimately, you will be skilled in delivering the best service possible to your customers which will ultimately increase sales.

On completion of the JET Management course, you will be in control of your own career path and manage your time effectively. You will be able to manage, develop and motivate your team. You will also be able to evaluate your store and ensure that you provide the best service possible to your customers

Taking all six modules of JET Business Development will equip you with the knowledge required to develop and implement a complete business plan, which will make a real difference to your business and to your bottom line. You will also understand how to sustain your business and ensure that it is profitable on a long term basis. Finally, on completion of the CAT (Certificate of Appraisal Theory), you will understand the theories, methodologies and good working practices needed to become a competent jewellery valuer.

1. Is there one game your OCs would play together?

There are so, so many of them, spanning such a wide range of backgrounds and cultures, that I really cannot imagine one, no.

2. Who randomly adopts strays?

Lol, that is pretty much the guiding principle behind Asylum :P

3. Which OC probably has way too many journals floating around or would if they could?

Kisma, definitely (not all hers)

4.  Are any of your OCs linguistically talented or challenged?

Seth and Naj both know 8 languages that I’m aware of.

5. Would any of your OCs have a library if they could?

Seth does.

6. Favorite fact you have learned because of your OCs?

This will make sense to no one but me, but Kis pointed out to me one day that Bird is technically a vampire and I nearly die laughing every time I remember it.

7. Are any of your OCs ahead of the technological curve for their world?

Not really. As a general rule, the older generation is slow to keep up with the changes. Asylum just barely got wi-fi.

8. Are any of your OCs religious or have some form of faith?

Yes, many.

9. How would your OCs treat an injured stranger?

Most of them would take them in, do what they can to heal them, and keep them under careful guard (working under the idea that most people don’t get injured and left alone to deal with it under friendly circumstances)

10. If given a choice, would your OCs  want to swap places with anyone they know?

Huh. That is a really fascinating question.… I honestly have no idea.

Uhhhh this is so hard! I’m gonna not overthink it and just say that I’d love to work with the staff of the Early Bird, Asylum’s best coffee shop.

Amelia Atwater-Rhodes, hands down.

3. Where’s your favorite place to write?

Favorite? Probably coffee shops. Most common? Parked on my couch with a cat under my legs.

4. What book made you want to write?

All of them? I’ve been “fixing” stories since my parents first sat me on their laps. But the first story I remember fixing was Susan Cooper’s The Dark is Rising series.

5. Where do you see yourself as a writer in five years?

Hopefully with some of my current wips finished, and a series at least started.

6. If you could rewrite any famous book would you do it, and how would you change it?

Oh I don’t know. Life’s too short to read books you don’t like. :/

Wait! I asked girlfriend, and she hit the nail on the head! I would TOTALLY re-write the Dresden Files. Not by much, I’d just LISTEN TO THE CHARACTERS and cut out that bullshit with Murphy and Dresden. Not gonna hit any spoilers, but let’s be honest: the newest books are forced and wrong. Karen doesn’t want that, the fans don’t want it, and I would fix it. LET MEN AND WOMEN BE FRIENDS, DAMNIT. Anyways.

7. What is your wip about?

Asylum is an urban fantasy about a found family of shapeshifters, living and working together in an old warehouse made over into a bar/stage show. Threat looms, love is found, and bad jokes are made.

My current distraction is yet another avian/serpent romance, set in the ancient times I wrote The Love that Broke the War in. It’s fluffy, sweet, and entirely too much fun.

8. Favorite bookstore?

I actually read nearly all my books through OverDrive via my local library. I’m way too broke for bookstores (so I guess then Halfprice books?)

9. What color do you want your first book jacket to be?

Red. Asylum’s colors are definitely red, white, and grey

10. How many words do you plan on your wip being?

IDK. However many it takes.
