re: your post about muses' grief/loss/nostalgia. delirium grieves delight, even though she doesn't really understand why. she knows that she was different, and that people liked her more back then, and maybe sometimes she tries to emulate delight, but it always comes out wrong. idk if she dreams exactly, but she definitely gets lost in her head and her daydreams about what she used to be so. kind of counts.
persephone feels a profound sense of loss, too, though she can't quite place it. i think it's a sense of belonging - when she's above, she dreams of quiet and cold, a sort of comforting, safe claustrophobia. when she's in the underworld, she dreams of an endless open sky, and vivid colour, and the feeling of a warm summer rain. no matter where she is, she is always dreaming of the other place, and she often wakes up dissatisfied.
i don't think you're familiar w jean moreau but he doesn't really remember where he grew up (marseille), nor his parents, except to know that they weren't good people. that doesn't stop him dreaming of belonging and a better time, and sunshine glinting off the wide, blue sea. big nostalgia vibes.
kieren walker! god where to start. for one, he grieves rick (both times). i think he dreams about him from their lives before either of them died, and what could have been. obviously he's very happy with simon and loves him to pieces, but he definitely has dreams about what his life might have been with rick (and he always wakes up angry that it was taken from them. twice.). obviously he often has nightmares about corinthian 1, and he's angry about everything there. sometimes he dreams about what his relationship with jem used to be like, how they were so close and how his death/rising took that from them - but that's nostalgic and hopeful because season 2/post-canon they're working on it and he knows that things are getting better. same with his parents (and he knows they feel awful guilt about the circumstances of his death, how they didn't know he'd been murdered for days and just assumed that he'd gone off on a bender with rick). kieren's dreams are much more nostalgic than he is when he's awake - when he's awake, he knows that things are getting better every day with his family.
uhhh anyway there's probably others but ttfn
firstly fuckin bless you. you understood the assignment. you get a GOLD STAR. i'm gonna split my responses up per character to keep things readable LET'S GOOOO
Delirium: YEAH!!! Mourning a past sense of self is [chef kiss] - I think Johnny actually has something similar to that in that like… He knows he isn't the original Johnny; he looks a lot like them, functions in a similar way, has--to his understanding--the same sort of personality with a more humanized slant from his time in the Waking… but he doesn't have the first Johnny's memories, and wouldn't know how to begin 'being' him. If anyone could do it, it'd be Graves, but Graves is… well. A nightmare, for one thing, and not interested in trying to be their old self again, for another.
I don't imagine Johnny can visit Delirium as a /dream/, but I think that if he was around her in person then, like Graves, he can sort of 'feel' when people's sense of loss 'aligns' with his intended purpose, if that makes any sense… Both he and Mykonos would be drawn to Delirium for that reason (but ESPECIALLY Mykonos, whose purpose often revolves around calling people back to the past--or past selves--they long for).
Persephone: First of all CHEF KISS because this makes perfect sense for Persephone and I'm thriving on it actually. I think the Cassidies would be drawn to her just on a personal level, though I can't fully articulate why (fun fact as a sidenote, just to give you an idea of what they're like: one of the Cassidies reminds me a lot of Sila, though they're much softer - more like Sila when he's at his most loved and comfortable and feels safe being soft, if that makes any sense; the other is a little more of a performer, puts more of a charming front up, probably because the actual real-life Cassidy WAS a performer and her death is why those two exist--ANYWAY).
For dreams though, I imagine Graves and Mykonos would be drawn to her, possibly working in unison; nightmare to dream, dream to nightmare, an endless cycle where it's never quite clear which part is dream and which is nightmare. Mykonos is HUGE on nostalgia and the feeling that things were better in the past (or better somewhere else); Graves likes to dig up those deep, unpleasant feelings of 'something was taken from me/there's something I want back' and [gestures]
Jean: I am not familiar with him! HOWEVER I already fuckin KNOW Graves and Mykonos would once again be drawn to him for similar reasons to Persephone. Maybe the Cassidies too actually, I can see them giving him really vivid natural landscapes + other beautiful, nostalgic scenes in his dreams (and music, too, always music).
Kieren: YESSSSSS. This is so tasty, ESPECIALLY the way his dreams are more nostalgic/called back to the past than he is in his Waking life. You KNOW Graves is coming for that poor guy: nightmares about his own death and more importantly his Rising, the things he did as a consequence of it, the things other people did; Rick, of course, and both of his deaths, and the loss of what could have been. Johnny and Mykonos I think would also visit him; the nostalgia is all Mykonos ofc, but I think dreams about repairing his relationships with Jem and his family are something Johnny can work with too (even on just a personal interest level, which he isn't really meant to do but like…. shhhh).
Also Johnny in particular would feel IMMENSE sympathy for Kieren's SHITTY LIFE holy fuck. Graves doesn't really feel sympathy for him but he can acknowledge that it's fucked up (not gonna stop him from doing his job though, sorry).
#hc.#hc: johnny#hc: graves#hc: mykonos#hc: cassidy#[ proximity doesn't feature in any of these so far but it is a pretty specific kind of nightmare kjnsdkjfnsdf ]#flcraiscn

Mykonos, Greece: Sightseeing in Chora, June 11, 202
by David L. Brooks
Sightseeing in Chora
From the Mykonos Airport, it’s basically a straight shot to reach the environs of Chora, the old town proper. Some attempt has been made to limit automobile traffic, but there always seems a few intrepid locals who can manage to pull their cars or beat-up lorries through the narrower streets. Nevertheless, it was delightful to see where actual, although highly touristy, businesses and residences thrived. Remember my stay earlier in the week has all occurred in a rural almost pastoral setting, although rocky terrain and white-coated county homes are the norm where I’ve been staying.
My initial target for official sightseeing was to visit the array of old Greek windmills arrayed on a cliff face overlooking the ocean. Sure enough, it is a popular sightseeing spot for a lot of the island’s visitors. Currently, the grounds of the Windmills of Mykonos is undergoing some cosmetic redecorating and refurbishment. Even on a Sunday morning, there were a few workman busy making repairs to a stone walkway. There are 6 to 8 smaller windmills standing in a solitary row, rather like a Pygmy-like bulwark against the Winds of Change. Tourists were not able to enter inside a windmill, at least that was true for the ones I inspected
Heading around the Old Port
Descending the hill upon which stood the battle-ready troupe of windmills, I entered the Old City proper. Stopping by a womenswear boutique shop that looked inviting, I was soon to understand that prices for almost anything was going to be twice (at least) of what you’d pay in Spain. So I realize that I needn’t spend time even looking since getting something for my wife or granddaughters here was a true waste of hard earned money. So I continued on my way toward my next destination: the Archaeological Museum of Mykonos. After climbing the narrow streets above the Museum, I had detoured and gone well past it as it was supposedly located at the far end of the almost circular bay around which the Old City had flourished. Upon descending and returning back toward the harbor, to my disappointment, i discovered that the Archaeological Museum of Mykonos was closed for repairs. Tant pis! However, all is not lost because it was now well passed my usual lunchtime, and after descending a short flight of stone stairs, I was back on the semi-circular boardwalk and at the home of my soon-to-become next destination, Kavos Taverna,
Sunday, June 11 around 12 pm
Where I had lunch in Chora:
Kavos Taverna is a busy port-side outdoor restaurant, specializing in Greek seafood cuisine and located right at far northern end of the Old Port of Chora on the island of Mykonos.
Evidently, the restaurant has been run by three generations of Kavos (assumed family name) on this very spot, right on the old harbor of Chora, the biggest town on the island of Mykonos. The restaurant has a splendid seaside location, with ‘coastal’ tables barely a meter above the ocean water and stretching a length of 80 meters. The chef d’œuvre for this restaurant is Seafood with a capital S: from the lowly platter of grilled sardines, which is what I ordered along with spanakopita, a Greek savory spinach pie that is typically also stuffed with feta cheese, to a half-meter wide platter of various seafood regulars, and whole grilled fish and lobsters, all generously served with fries and a dash of greenery. My meal was quite good, and I was glad I had ordered sliced Greek bread and bottled water to round out the meal of grilled sardines (small-sized) and the generous helping of spanakopita. The waiter who took my order did a double take when I mentioned the sliced bread immediately after ordering the spinach pie. So much so that he actually confirmed that I really wanted the bread.
The wait staff was very helpful and attentive, many were quite multilingual. But like all good eateries worldwide, ‘your mouth is where the money goes’ —meaning the larger table or better-paying customers tend to get the majority of the multiple tiered staffs’ attentions. After taking my order, I was not spoken to again by the wait staff until I was aggressive enough to call over the dining host, a younger man who spoke English quite adequately, to answer a question that came both out of my curiosity and as my employee management strategy. When he did answer my question, I mentioned that I was ready to pay the check. What I suspect was that I had not behaved in a ‘finished customer’ way in order for the regular wait staff to recognize that I was ready to pay up and go. Predominately, the reason was that I had not partaken in the almost ‘du rigueur‘ tiny cup of ‘mastika’, a sweet liqueur produced with the mastika resin. Of course, I might be just a little too forgiving (undemanding) and the waiters may have not even noticed my having finished my simple but delicious meal. But there was nothing left but a small of neatly piled sardine backbones. Maybe they thought I was an epicurean or perhaps just a famished traveler. I’m sure they’ve seen all kinds of patrons. Lucky for me, the cost was quite reasonable.

Best Places to Eat in Aegina, Greece
The island is busier than Mykonos or Santorini but remains tolerable. It’s still easy to escape the crowds even during high season and enjoy everything from beautiful beaches to a wonderful church. If you are a fan of goat’s milk, don’t miss out on visiting the dairy in picturesque Sfentouri or try their delicious risogalo (rice pudding sprinkled with cinnamon). They also make fantastic products from sheep and cow’s milk.
Karnagio Beach
Aegina Island is among the best cruise islands near Athens to relax on a sandy beach and enjoy some of Greece's finest seafood at tavernas. You can also sample a variety of cocktails at the island's quality beach bars. If you want a modern gourmet experience, Kappos Etsi is one of the top restaurants in Aegina. Located behind the port in a stone building with a wine-coloured courtyard, chef Dimitris spins Greek classics into out of this world dishes like baked octopus and his signature kappos etsi pie stacked with feta, mince and parsley. For authentic meze, try Nontas tavern in Perdika or Kriton Gefseis for musical meze and raki. Or enjoy a cocktail at Inn on the Beach, a perky seafront favourite close to Aegina Town, and feel the gentle spray of the setting sun ruffle your bare ankles. Afterwards, take in the spectacular Temple of Apollo, a knockout from 480 BC and part of the Sacred Triangle with the Parthenon in Athens.
Souvala Beach
There’s no shortage of beach-themed activities on Aegina, with the most frantic waterside action taking place on the east coast at the island’s major package holiday resort, Agia Marina. Here, you can take a banana ride or enjoy barbecued octopus in a waterfront taverna. If you prefer to keep your feet dry, head a little farther south for Vagia’s exquisite sandy beach and secluded coves. Or, for a more laidback day, head to Marathon Beach, just a 10-minute drive from town, for umbrellas and sunbeds on an organized beach — though it doesn’t typically get very busy. The island’s pristine Moni Beach is a short boat trip from Perdika, an idyllic village that captured the imagination of Kazantzakis. Arrive at sunset to watch the magical light bathe the harbor and the small church tucked away in its recesses. And don’t leave without sampling a plate of local cheese and pistachios. The latter are a speciality here (try the fresh, unsalted variety with whole pistachios)..
Agios Nektorios Church
Saint Nectarios of Aegina is one of the most famous Greek saints and has been known for working many miracles. He is a great spiritual counselor and confessor to many Greeks and many people from other countries have found healing through his prayers. As a Metropolitan, Nectarios was loved and admired by the people for his purity of life, humility and service to others. His devotion to God and the church compelled him to become more active with his work. Unfortunately, this caused envy among other priests and they made false accusations that led to him being removed from his position. This is when he started searching for a place to live in peace and quiet with no distractions. He ended up on the island of Aegina where he built a beautiful monastery and church. He is celebrated as a saint in the Orthodox Church and his feast day is November 9. Many of the pilgrims that visit Aegina around this time are here to celebrate.
Monastery of Agia Triada
Worlds away from the hedonistic whirl of Athens, Aegina retains its old school charm in its covered fish market and backstreet ouzeri (bars). Stop by Eakion to sample the local speciality – smoked pistachios – ahead of the island’s annual festival in September. For a more upscale snack or drink, head to Posto, where you’ll be treated to generous servings of handmade pasta and Mediterranean cuisine. The restaurant is set in a hidden garden and also hosts art exhibitions from time to time. In general, be respectful of the monks’ customs and etiquette when visiting any monastery. Greeting them and engaging in brief pleasant conversation is fine, but avoid distractions or disturbing them in their religious practices. And do not enter restricted areas like the monks’ quarters. Observing these simple rules will enhance your experience while showing respect to the monks and their church. Aegina Island is a beautiful cruise destination and these top places to eat and drink will make your stay here unforgettable. Read the full article
