The West Wing actually helped me ace an AP Government test. We had a question on the Bipartisan Campaign Reform Act. The question included that it made candidates do the "I'm [name], and I approve this message" bit in campaign ads. We were asked to name the year it passed.
I remembered that Matt Santos in TWW talked about helping to pass that act. He was a three term Congressman in the House of Representatives. That season of the show was set in 2006. Meaning that the act had to have been passed between 2001 and 2006. Only one date fit that time period---2002. And that's how I got that question right and got an A on the test.
So thank you TWW for helping me get into college. Much appreciated.
