I love Jar of Mice! I've never seen creature designs like Thrones before.
You mention Ibis tissue in some of the posts, and I read the old post about it - has the lore changed since then? Does it have anything to do with the bones of God at Godtomb?
I'm very flattered! I don't think of Thrones as particularly creative but I suppose that's because I know all the ingredients for them... Actually let me take this post as an excuse to go into them a bit!
I extremely enjoy taurs and human "hybrid" style creatures like sphinxes a massive amount, but there are a ton of artists who's particular styles and sensibilities have inspired me. Coming to mind off the top of my head are artists on social media like Bwusagi, Suzumori521, Deerchip, Theveryworstthing, iliothermia, and definitely more...
I tend to collect a lot of art of centaurs, sphinxes, harpies, and dragons that catches my fancy, here's some of it:
(An Islamic depiction of Sagittarius, Salome Sphinx by Nicholas Kalmakoff, ????, Nagas by Rabi Behera, Şahmaran)
Edit: forgot the Lamassu, which is a more specific inspiration than any of the things above or below.
Jim Woodring is one of my inspirations for Thrones that people tend to clock, and they're correct. It's probably the colors, patterns, eyes, shapes.....
Oh and.
Her.
And for the second question, yes! The tissue was once on the bones, although the Ibis tissue used in the temples for the creation of dagnyds is much more equivalent to a cell culture than anything at this point. It's desire to grow and take form is the creative force that humans have harnessed to create dagnyds..... for better or worse.
I don't have any art of it i'm happy with, but here's some several year old pixel art of an Oracle Computer, which is filled with the stuff. Honestly though, I don't think "black goo" is very compelling or visually interesting considering what the stuff actually is. It needs work.
Everything always needs work...
#My art doesn't hold a candle to any of this tbh and i don't want to @ anyone and be annoying#Looking through the insp folder for JOM and its like...#pokemon minoan frescos manga medieval Islamic paintings moebius dinotopia historical costumes a picture of a bug... and so on...#i particularly like medieval things that veer into being very surreal combinations of anatomy#you'd be amazed what you can achieve by covering something in polka dots#looking at my pixel art from several years ago and being like damn this is quite good still#i could probably do better now... i want to get back to it#also i have not read dungeon meshi btw i just saw that art above like 2 years ago and was like holy shit that fucks#answering#jar of mice#misc#flattered ppl think thrones are unique i guess they're just a thorough enough blend of a large enough number of things that they don't come#across as derivative

I have trouble looking for anything on Twtr, but do you have any tips on how to really just find fanart and stuff there?
All the artists seem to have moved there and I follow topics I want to see stuff for, but sometimes people title their art in vague ways and sometimes I also just want to find artists.
It's a mess. I initially liked being there, but it turned out to be much more hostile and clumsy to navigate, so I also just mostly check it for art or news, sometimes maybe general discourse.
Not that Tumblr doesn't have any issues, but I think the good outweighs the bad to a larger degree here.
for sure! tumblr has always had its own problems although sometimes i think the brokenness of the coding here adds to the charm lmao
unfortunately I don't really have an efficient way to find artists on twitter either. generally what i have been doing is finding people who regularly like/retweet art and then go through their following list to see who all they follow and check out those twitter accounts. it's regrettably a time consuming process (and a LOT of my feed is just Japanese tweets that i do not understand lol), but once i get on a roll with a few artists, many of them also like/retweet each other's posts, so that helps expose me to more of them. like i've found a lot of kyojuro artists this way lol!
i'm honestly not proficient at all with twitter lol when everyone started mass migrating over there i attempted to try working with it a little more but it just doesn't hold a candle to me in comparison to all of the features that tumblr has. not to mention that while i don't mind reading some discourse here and there if it's kinda mild, i hit my limit with fandom discourse years ago and it seems like twitter is absolutely atrocious with it all. like i just wanna have a good time, please lol
there's also the issue (for me anyway) of how very hard it is to gain enough of a following to make posting content a viable activity. (there's really nothing gif/graphic makers can effectively do on there and the only "gif accounts" that have a good following are reposters 🥴). I'm just much more comfortable here tbh lol if tumblr ever dies i'm gonna have a rough time 😂
#reply#anon#really all twt has going for it that tumblr doesn't (for me) is the ability to mute people without blocking them lol
