Spencer knew what DC was like, this- although exact in look was not DC. Something was off, no matter how much the blue skies dared to lure him into a false sense of security. Not when he had been in Oregon just the night before on a case. He looks up then down the street, trying to make sense of it all. “What…is going on here?” He questions before finding a sign for Rock Creek Park. The park, that would be a good place for him to make sense of everything. He sets off, converse covered feet moving quickly as he scanned the area, everything was as it should be. Although his mind flashed danger lights in his head.

Continued from: Bo nodded. "What was the reason is the next question." She states, looking over at the family. Mr. And Mrs. Jacobs sat on a bench nearby, holding each other and looking distraught. The aunt and uncle and cousin over at a table looking more uncomfortable than worried. "Has anyone questioned the second Jacobs family yet?" She asked. "They don't seem all that worried. Not to mention, the uncle was being dismissive, like it isn't a big deal his niece is missing."

Spencer glanced over at the family, it was strange that the family seemed to be dealing with this situation separately. While everyone processed things differently, it seemed like the extended family simply seemed like they wanted to leave rather than find Katie.
"It does seem like there is something that they aren't sharing. The aunt and uncle seem to be having some relationship troubles." Their body language seemed uncomfortable with one another. It also seemed like there was something deeper about the family dynamic. "I don't think the Uncle was involved in this, but I do think he's hiding something else."

❝ — “Evil can’t be scientifically defined. It’s an illusory moral concept that doesn’t exist in nature. Its origins and connotations have been inextricably linked to religion and mythology.”

the ep where maeve gets kidnapped is so interesting bc like. this is an episode where reid mentions being sexually assaulted whilst blindfolded, at 12 years old, by a group of laughing 16-17yos
and in the same episode, reid comes in blindfolded and is assaulted by the unsub
like he comes in with his eyes covered and she immediately slides her hand down the front of his chest to grope his breast / nipple, standing behind him
and then obvs he's further assaulted in the same episode by the unsub before she murders maeve
i just. god the way that reid is treated in this tv show as a faggy/insufficiently masculine autistic twink is so wild bc we really do see him sexually assaulted or intimidated as regularly as we do the women in the primary cast, if not more, and that's so real
like as ever i'm not discounting the way that reid's whiteness plays into this and that's why the show is so comfortable like. sexualising him in that highly victimised way, esp in a way i don't think it often does for derek, a far more explicit CSA survivor
i just really can't think of, let alone name, many other shows - even garbage procedurals - that depict a gender nonconforming guy in precisely this way that genuinely focuses on the extent of violence this kind of man triggers in many others without it being abt sexuality
even shows where a char actually is queer or trans, they're often not victimised to this level bc cishets would have to own up to it? it's the same reason reid isn't explicitly labelled as autistic, bc that would make him an unfair target rather than just "weird" and acceptable

Spencer glanced up from the book he had been deep in reading, pausing in confusion when the woman spoke. “Thank…you. I think.” He says, pressing his lips together once he was done then closing his book “I am, if you’re interested then I say go for it. There’s a possibility you will like it.”

"You got that hot professor vibe about you- and I said that out loud, lovely," Taylor whispered shutting her book with finality and taking a breath. You'd think she was drunk, but she'd been in class all day. Hazel eyes blinking for a moment. At least, she was wearing an outfit that she liked and felt comfortable in her own skin. "I heard you're into psych. I was thinking about making that my major. "

One of my biggest pet peeves is when people act like Spencer Reid and Aaron Hotchner are super underrated characters as if they aren't the easiest characters to find content for 😭 babe what about Derek Morgan? Luke Alvez? Matthew Simmons? JENNIFER JAREAU?! Emily's pretty popular as she should be but idk stop lying is what I'm trying to say

omg all of your spencer fics are such masterpieces!!
Thank you so much for thinking so nonnie!! I try very hard :,DD
I hope to continue writing more for him, and I have quite a few interesting requests/ and a few ideas of my own-- I'm cooking up a storm!!
As a little (and admittedly obscure) hint on what to expect though, here's a fun fact!!
The positive feedback loop is a mechanism in our body that allows us to achieve homeostasis through the means of amplifying an ongoing reaction in the body. Meaning that this variant of feedback cannot start, nor be built, upon something that wasn't already there.

me looking up Spencer Reid quotes for science:

Event starter between Spencer and Kono ( @devilsmenu )
Prompt 14: Monster- Vampire
Another dead end sends the genius back the way he came, he certainly can’t keep up with what path he’s already taken when everything looks the same. A noise in the far distance has him slowing his pace further until he comes to a full stop, a sigh falling from his lips. “I just want to get out of here.” He mutters, eyes scanning the end of the pathway that he could see. “Huh, that’s really cool…nope, not fake-that’s real.” He takes off in a run, muttering under his breath.

"I ask myself every day why I entered the BAU, but then I remember I get to catch the people who prey on innocent children." Bo says, looking over the map of the mall they were called to. A little girl had gone missing, and no one knew what happened to her. 6-year-old Katie Jacobs.
"There are so many places that should could be, I'm genuinely surprised no one's found her yet."
@norvstforthvwickvd for Spencer Reid
@norvstforthvwickvd
Spencer could easily understand that. Their job certainly wasn't easy - one saw many awful things and just how cruel people could be. Being able to catch those monsters is what made it all worth it - and hopefully it wasn't too late for this case.
Tumblr media
"It doesn't make sense that no one seems to have seen her." For such a busy mall, it wasn't looking good that Katie hadn't been found and that they hadn't received any solid leads. "Whoever did this seemed to have a plan - they don't show up on any of the cameras. She was targeted for a reason." And not just because she was an easy target.

Limited Magnificent Light Thoughts
Say what you will about Magnificent Light being lackluster, but it did have some bright spots.
Exhibits A+: Reid and Rossi mirroring. From fiddling with their pencils in the briefing, sitting the same on the jet, and walking the same in the credit card office, they mirrored. It might not have been so obvious if they hadn't been side by side the entire time, but it had to have been intentional right? Reid was even dressed markedly like Rossi.
Whatever the actual reason, I like to think it's Reid intentionally trying to acclimate himself to comporting himself like an alpha male he could actually emulate--not Morgan or Hotch. Be interesting to know if he'd have done the same thing with Gideon with enough time/experience.
Another bright spot to ML, Reid turning sideways to not collide with the two women when he, Rossi, and Blake were leaving the credit card company. Dude, that thoroughfare is approximately 4 ½ people wide, and the fact Reid was the only person of the five who gave any ground is low-key hilarious, probably because ⅗s of the people were women and they Didn't Concede any Space.

I just think that Spencer Reid would absolutely want to see Oppenheimer for the historical fact checking of it but not before I drag him to go see Barbie. He wears that one pink button up in solidarity and then holds my hand during Oppenheimer while I’m still processing Barbie. 🤍

love the political dynamics of the workplace in criminal minds S1 where like
these are all neurodivergent obsessives, most of whom are already heavily traumatised, and they're all working in close quarters
like i love how NASTY garcia gets when reid and greenaway are in her cave with her - she's actually kind of playful about telling reid not to breathe on her neck even tho she basically insults him constantly
meanwhile w elle like. she just tosses her coffee in the bin as soon as she puts it on garcia's desk with no warning fjdksks
like obvs its bc the found family elements haven't developed as much, but i love how much like... hotch and gideon like reid and frequently take protective roles where he's concerned, defending him but also trying to ingratiate him with the others
meanwhile morgan and garcia especially just keep insulting him and mocking him to the others, and while it's not actually intended to be super cruel - like they both have a lot of genuine affection for him, especially morgan - it's really constant and like
is so obviously motivated by how he's the nerdiest, weakest, and most emasculated of the team
BUT like... when it's reid and garcia enjoying something together, like an element of hacking culture reid happens to know, or a pop culture thing, or a cool science thing, they team up and elle or whoever else ends up grumpy w both of them
GUH. its just so fucking good, i WISH your average procedural had this much meat so early on in its development

So I'm listening to "Do What You Gotta Do" from Descendants 3 and also thinking about William and Spencer Reid. And all I could think about was this elaborate redux of the choreography taking place in William's office and I couldn't stop laughing for five minutes.

you’re not getting out of this.  ” spencer to bea 😳😳😳😳😳
Tumblr media
❝ is that right? ❞ he's got a gun pointed at her and she still cant help but smirk. he thinks he can get her that easily. it was amusing. bea throws her hands up, palms facing up in a way that it looks like she's shrugging. ❝ i thought with your genius iq and fbi skills you'd be able to figure me out quicker but i guess i was very wrong. i put a little too much faith into that. that you wouldn't let your emotions cloud your judgement. ❞ a brutal statement that she doesn't feel bad for saying. sure it was cruel but it was true. small tilt of the head, smirk washing away from her face replaced by a stoic expression. bea did very much love him but it was in a way that only she would understand. undying and obsessive. possessive. she wanted to be the only one that could have him. it just couldn't happen. but she really did try.
