Jumu'ah Sohbet: 17 May 2024
This week served as a reminder of the intimacy that we are compelled to nurture with the Divine, known to us as Allah, from the very beginning of our journey into Sufism through bayat (oath of allegiance to Allah through our Sufi mentors) and into our every day moments lived in the now. Alhamdulillah that this intimacy vis-à-vis Sufism enables us to achieve taqwa (self-vigilance), which we formally correlated only this past Ramadan:
#1. Murshida Shaykha Muzeyyen, who we fondly refer to as Anne (our original spiritual mother), reminded us of the depth that we ought to keep our closeness with Allah. Where we even see Allah's face, which is an impossible mystery but a palpable reality, Subhana'Allah (Divine glory)! She said,
"We should always remember to make an intention to want to get closer to Allah and to see Allah’s face when we are doing our daily wazifa (a regular litany of spiritual practices) and group zikrs (congregational meditation)."
#2. Shaykh Nishaat, our Heart-smith, intriguingly asked us how we discern what is right and the truth? When they can be such relative realities based on different persons' perceptions. However, when we open ourselves up to surrender our nafs (lower-selves / egos), such that we are learning in each moment that we live. We can then discern what is right and truthful by always being mindful of Allah's rights and wrongs.
#3. Our Heart-smiith then reflected how awestruck he was that Umm (mother of) Musa AS, could have been so brave in her trust of Allah, where she was able to follow Allah's instructions to release her vulnerable baby into the river Nile. Umm Musa was spiritually told by Allah that if she wanted to keep her baby safe during the ominous period in human history, she had to let him go. Even when she was weak because her heart was empty in worry, Allah calmed and strengthened her heart with faith.
Her trust in Allah was fortified with additional measures that she employed to "tie her camel" which was to make personal provisions and then she completely surrendered her affairs to Allah. Her daughter followed the baby's carriage along the river, and as a result, Allah made it possible for Umm Musa, unwittingly to be chosen as the wet nurse for him. Subhana'Allah for the series of earned miracles upon Musa AS and his family!
#4. Last week, our Heart-smiith asked us to contemplate on Sibgatullah - referring to the colours of Allah. Who is better at colouring than Allah? Shaykh Taner's translation of this verse in Surah Al-Baqarah is noted as:
V138: We get our colour from Allah. Who is better at colouring than Allah? And we are His dependents.
During my own contemplation as a visual artist in my tertiary education, I strongly felt that Allah is a dynamic Artist where He constantly crafts our lives with Jamal (His beautiful attributes), while enabling us to exercise our free wills. If we surrender to loving Him, He beautifies our lives with His taqdeer (predestination as His absolute decree).
The following week, a fellow murid (Sufi follower) shared a synchronous statement which read:
"The dynamic, living God is truly with us. The One to whom all hearts are open, and all desires known, knows and treasures our lives, preserving them everlastingly in God’s all-inclusive experience. God seeks beauty and love relentlessly for us, even when we turn away as persons and communities. Through all the changes of life, God truly is “the poet of the world, with tender patience leading it by His vision of truth, beauty, and love.” Epperly
#5. During Learning Circle that was facilitated by your soulful Wakil Abbu, he reflected that,
"... For us as Sufis, it starts from the moment that we have taken bayat (an oath of allegiance to a Sufi master), we are asked if we will watch over Allah's rights and wrongs. In the bayat, is already in-built taqwa because we have to be mindful of Allah. The other side of taqwa is to watch that our nafs are not taking over. We are vigilant of this pervasive reality. When working with other people, we are checking that our nafs don't rear their ugly heads. The bayat, Sufi training, and all types of social interactions reflect and train us in that taqwa. Our job is not focusing on others by parking our judgemental ways because self-vigilance is a focus on oneself through others. Another great definition is Allah-consciousness, where we are repeatedly advised to be aware."
Similarly, soulful fellow murid Raeesa reflected that in her past; she considered taqwa something almost saintly, as a far away attribute that we should strive for - but there was no real tool or method that was communicated of how to achieve it. She added,
"... After I became a student, I realised that Islam and Sufism is taqwa because taqwa is all-encompassing of what Sufism is. Our whole relationship to Allah is based on being connected, making your rabita (heartfelt connection), being aware, and getting out of the way. All our Shaykh's teachings are of taqwa and what I realised instead of considering taqwa as a far away concept... it is a tool to connect to Allah as a form of safety..."
Beyond finding safety in taqwa, your Ammu thereafter made a tongue-in-cheek observation where its need as self-vigilance in observing patience and perseverance is a universal phenomenon, which none of us are exempt from!
Shukran Ya Allah (Divine gratitude) that we can explore our relationship to Allah, our Source, so intimately!

Mohiuddin Mojaddedi Bulletin-1:
Allah, Rasool and Murshid should not be given 'salam', extreme bad manners; Allah's one name is 'Ya Salamu', the Prophet (peace be upon him) himself is peace-salam-islam and the Naibbe Rasul Waliam Murshida Pir-Murshids who form nature in the nature of Allah and the Messenger are also residents of Shantidham according to the same source; To whom people run for peace. That is why their devotees do not salute the Murshid, they worship in their own way. Then we say 'Ya Nabi Salamu Alaikum' to the one who is the Murshid Mahamurshid (PBUH) of the Murshids! This is extremely rude. There is a prohibition in the hadith to greet Allah. The same rule applies to the Holy Prophet and also applies to the Murshis. In the words of Fakir Lalan - If the murshid is the Messenger, God is also that, Lalan does not say that, how many in the Koran? did not give So what did you say? He said - 'Attahiyatu Lillahi Wassalawatu Attayibatu.' After that Allah Almighty himself greeted his Habib by saying 'Wassalamu Alaika Ayyuhannabiu Arahmatullahi Abarakatuhu' - which we recite as Durood Ibrahim in the prayer meeting. Despite such glaring evidence, we salute the Prophet (PBUH) with blind passion in Milad-Qiyam Sharif, which is sheer audacity on the part of the Prophet (PBUH). Therefore, in Milad-Qiyam Sharif, direct salat should be sent to the Prophet (PBUH) without giving 'Salaam', this is our (Al Belayat Party's) reform demand-proposal to the Muslim Ummah.

Kerala School Uses Voting Machines For Student Election
Around 149 students participated in the event by casting their votes in the drill. The elections were conducted for choose the leader of the school.
Tumblr media
New Delhi: In order to inculcate a sense of civic responsibility and an understanding of electoral process among young learners, students of Vizhinjam Government Harbour Area LP School in Kerala participated in a comprehensive mock election with electronic voting machines (EVMs). The mock election was organised with the collaborative efforts of the government school teachers, including the headmaster and the committee members.
Under the initiative, the students were made to go through a complete electoral process by following a mock drill of elections. The students were taught to demonstrate their aptitude in organising a field election, which included setting up EVMs, handling postal ballots, conducting result tabulation and declaring outcomes.
Around 149 students participated in the event by casting their votes in the drill. The elections were conducted for electing the leader of the school. The contest was held between four students. The top contender Murshida won the election with 46 votes and was elected as the school leader. The election process was led by another student called Munira.
The mock drill of the election was conducted with the help of a specially designed piece of software which helped in teaching the students about the intricacies of the country’s election system, its procedure and methods.
The process helped the students to understand the procedures of the elections by performing tasks involved in the electoral system. The students learnt through their new experiences about the submission of nomination papers and the election campaign, followed by the voting process. Official duties, from presiding officer to polling assistant, were performed by the children themselves. The students undertook the responsibility of creating a model EVM and control unit, emulating the actual electronic voting machines used in real elections.
The students actively engaged in a comprehensive mock election, demonstrating their aptitude in arranging a field election, which included setting up electronic voting machines (EVMs), handling postal ballots, conducting result tabulation, and declaring outcomes.

Zamfara Community Releases Names Of 85 Children, Women, Others Abducted By Terrorists
Tumblr media
SaharaReproters had reported how the terrorists kidnapped at least 80 children on Friday morning during a fresh operation in the Tsafe Local Government Area of Zamfara State. The Wanzamai community in Zamfara State's Tsafe Local Government Area has compiled a list of the 85 people kidnapped by suspected terrorists on Friday. Although the victims' ages were not specified, it was learnt that they included women and children. SaharaReproters had reported how the terrorists kidnapped at least 80 children on Friday morning during a fresh operation in the Tsafe Local Government Area of Zamfara State. This was confirmed to BBC Hausa by the parents of the victims who revealed that the children were between the ages of 12 and 17. They added that the victims were in the bush fetching firewood at about 8:00 a.m. when the terrorists rounded them up and marched them away into the forest. A parent who said her 15-year-old son was abducted spoke to the BBC Hausa service about the attack and expressed concern about the children in captivity. “We are worried because we don’t know the condition of our children in captivity,” she said. A journalist who covers insecurity in Northern Nigeria for foreign media, Yusuf Anka posted on Twitter, “At least 85 people, including teenagers and older men and women, were abducted by armed bandits loyal to Ado Aleru in the communities of Wanzamai, Kucheri, and Yankara in the border areas between Zamfara and Katsina States on thursday. “This incident comes after the Nigerian military succeeded in killing four bandits loyal to Aleru who were looking after his herds in Magazu areas.” The list of names of the 85 victims reads as follows: - Nana Ash Ala - Abdullahi Ado Nabu Zuwa - Suleman Yahnya Sacintayi - Fauziyah Salisu - Rabi Umaru D/Sokoto - Yahuza Ali Sokoto - Safara’u Ibrahim - Yasin Ibn Mai - Hawawu Usman - Farida Usman - Nana Zayyanu 12 Jamila Zayyanu - Hassan Muntari - Suleiman Muntari - Rukayya Babariro Buzu - Hassan Babariro Buzu - Usaina Babairo Buzu - Bashariya Shehu - Maryam Shehu - Bilki Hamisu - Nawara Ahsiru - Musa Dargoma - Khalifa Sule - Mustafa Alfa - Najibu Mani - Yargoma Ayye - Jabiru Nayaro - Asma’u Nayaro - Hadiza Nayaro - Sherifa Isihu - Yayyah Isihu - Usman Mai Kiyo - Hassi Mai Kiyo - Murja - Abba Muhaka - Malan Alasan - Semia Allaramma - Umma Alh Yau - Murshida Ibrahim - Kabiru Mustafa - Nusaiba Mustafa - Sanmillu Sani - Maryam Muntari - Ibrahim Naamaikoto - Fati Sani - Ibrahim Isabi - Rukaya Hamza - Zaharau Abdulkadir - Mustafa Abdulkadir - Wasila Dayya bi dabu - Fati Dayya bi dabu - Khadija Dayya bi dabu - Rabiatu Dayya bi dabu - Sabila Monsura - Aadi Mustapha - Zainab Midahiru - Mustapha - Yusuf Bashar - Ado - Nafisa - Lawisa - Ssabila - Umar Mustapha Naket - Ashiru Isahu - Fauziya Salisu - Rafia Sigaga - Saila Sigaga - Nana Hamida - Usaifa Hamida - Mairo Abdullaihi - Yahaya Alaranma - Abdulrahaman Yahuza - Nafisa - Ziyara - Wasila - Farida - Zakiya - Hawararkura Halidu - Shamsiya - Nana - Aminu - Sai Fullahi - Dan Adadi - Nasiru - Yusuf Read the full article

The Quran says we call you by your Imams-(Imam literally means "to follow someone" like a Sufi Shaykh) and the Importance of (Wali Murshid) from Qur'an; The day when We call every nation with their leaders (Imams whoever has followed a Leader a Sufi Shaykh, towards true faith and Righteousness and accountability in Hearafter), those whose record of deeds are given to their right hands will read the book and the least wrong will not be done to them. (Surah Isra 71:17) And futher in Surah Kahf (18: 17) Allah says those who are Guided have Sufi Master (Waliyan Murshida) Waliyah-Sainthood Murshid Teacher. But those who don't are Misguided! He whom Allah guides is the [rightly] guided, but he whom He leaves astray - never will you find for him a protecting guide.

Jumu'ah Sohbet: 3 May 2024
As a Tariqa (spiritual school), we avoid politics because we know how people's nafs' (lower-selves or egos') taint it. However, it has really been harrowing to watch the level of destruction being carried out in several war-torn contexts. We are witnessing unparalleled support for some over others by citizens globally, including brave and tactical reactions by student movements. Allah bless Anne (our spiritual mother) for "arming" us with devotions where we are actually witnessing the transformation that we seek, Subhana'Allah (Divine glory)! Within this horrid context, our Tariqa reflected on some additional spiritual insights:
#1. During our last Jumu'ah congregational Zikr's Sohbet, Shaykh Nishaat first proclaimed that with each day, we must know what we are grateful for. Thereafter, synchronistically, Raeesa reflected on guidance, which led her to a sense of gratitude. Equally, during my past despair and darkness, did Allah design for me to bump into Shaykh Nishaat at the Sustainable Living Expo where both our respective work was featured.
However, with my previous NGO work, I was carrying immense spiritual thirst, and Allah sent Shaykh Nishaat with the message of Sufism that inherently made sense from the get-go. Over the years, I was guided deeper and deeper into a state of gratitude, despite "misfortune" that restricted my itchy feet from the past - where I simply couldn't be still long enough in my learning and service. To now, where I'm facing more confinement than ever before, but I have undeniably gained a license to "fly" spiritually - Shukran Ya Allah (Divine gratitude)!
This past Wednesday morning, I saw a video of limbless, young, and adult Gazans, making the best of life in the moment. It inspired me as a sign of their immense resilience and faith in the face of all kinds of loss. With my limited ability, I often suffer with a "martyr complex," but I have to acknowledge that I am still blessed with so much. Above all, Shukran Ya Allah, for blessing me with your Abbu, who is always my voice of reason.
#2. Our Anne then hit a spiritual nerve in me, where I still misattribute Allah's blessings upon me to worldly things. I erratically lack the ability for insight with my spiritual senses, with a tendency to succumb to my worldly senses instead! Even though your Abbu has been a joyous Godsend to us, it is Allah's design as Al-Musawwir (The Fashioner).
"If somebody thanks us, you know that it is Allah that helps this person through us. Or if we are thanking someone, you know in that point and time you are actually connecting to Allah for how He personally takes care of you through a difficult time."

#3. Thereafter, Shaykh Nishaat shared his wisdom on Julie Allie's spiritual vlog. What struck me most was when he related his history into Sufism through Islam, which immediately makes us aware of his soul's sheer depth.
"Over the years, I realised Islam is not a simple religion. It is an action that you move with in every breath and every moment. Therefore, our awareness of everything around and in us must be greater than their ritualistic value.
... Beyond the rewards that we hope for from Allah, we seek love for Allah and it is what transforms us! The Qur'an afterall says that those who purify themselves are the successful ones. This sounds simple, but it is immensely profound because Allah is showing us who is successful and what the process is if we want to achieve that success.
In a sense, Sufism is the process of purification of the heart so that the light in the heart is the one leading it. As human beings seeking meaning in our lives, we can only have more meaning when we are aware. I have observed in my own life that the greatest fulfillment received is when you are more aware. The reward of awareness is fulfillment! Nothing else will transform or fulfill your heart but with what Allah gives you."

During these perilous hours that could escalate into a World War, we continue to pray for balance in the world, protection and Allah's help towards crafting goodness:
Ya Adl Ya Muqsit Ya Haq Ya Latif
Ya Muhaymin Ya Hafiz
Ya Nafi Ya Nasir
