Todays the second day of Tuggerlurina Week, Birthday! I had a more difficult time writing this, and yes, they are prewritten because of my classes for a certification and my work schedule. I have been working on them for about since Tuggerlurina week was annouced. @jelliclekay i hope that my work paid off! Here we go, enjoy!

Fuck it, let me occupy you instead of distracting you.

Bomba questioned again why she was asked to do this. “Bomba, you are the best at distracting Tugger while we set up his birthday bash.” Demeter had asked her, and Bomba tried her best to clarify why she wasn’t the right cat for this.

“Demeter, sweetie, me and Tugger can’t keep secrets from each other. He will figure out that I have to distract him. Honestly, I’m going to keep him occupied instead of distracting him” Bomba had explained, but Demeter was insistent, which is unique for her, but Bomba shrugged it off, because she was basically rushed out of the den they were setting up for his birthday bash. What kind of distraction did Bomba have in mind? One that Demeter will have to deal with when she comes running to find them. When Bomba finally got to his ‘technical’ den when in fact he lives in her official den with Jemima, but the kittens didn’t know that (except for Mistoffelees, Victoria, Jemima, and Plato), she just sauntered in and sat herself right in front of him grooming his glorious mane. “Demeter overestimates me.”

“With what?” Tugger purred, looking directly into her eyes, giving her that look that made her shiver with anticipation.

“My ability to distract you.” Bomba just directly laid it out to him.

Tugger just gave her a look. “Our friends are trying to celebrate my birthday. And they sent you to ‘distract’ me.”

“Yup.”

“The queen who is my mate and mother to our kitten.”

“Exactly.”

“They really think that I, the Rum Tum Tugger, would just crash my birthday party that I completely know about, just because of my song.” He rubbed his tail alongside Bomba’s flank, making her shiver.

“Yes.” Completely deadpan, “Why can’t they just let me celebrate you by myself and Jemima?”

“While I enjoy a good party,” Tugger started, slinking up to Bomba’s side, his mane barely touching her.

“You crashed the ball.” She reminded him, her purr sultry at the remembrance of the previous ball.

“I do quite prefer to have a quiet night in.”

“Tugger, you jump in our human’s lap to cause a horrible muddle.”

“She needs to not be knitting as much.”

“You knock her yarn ball away from her and cause a terrible game of keep a way with her.” Her eyes narrowed at him, sultry and accusing at the same time.

“Ah.” He put a finger on her lips, hushing her, and grazed her face with the side of his paw. “I am artful and knowing. You have a different thought of distracting me. Care to share, love?”

Bomba looked at him, glazing into his eyes. “I can keep you occupied.”

“I wouldn’t have it any other way.” He agreed, slowly giving in to her desire, kissing her slowly and deeply. “Want to see how far we can get?”

“Gladly.” Bomba said, giving him a razor smile, hungrily kissing him, ending up on the bed of pillows and blankets he had strewn about.

Demeter sat outside of the den, blushing. “You know, this isn’t what I meant for you to distract him!”

“I said I was going to occupy him, not distract him!” Bomba hissed, coming out of the den after grooming herself back up to perfection, Tugger following with a cheeky smile. “Besides Munk, I know him the best, inside and out!”

“In more ways than one.” Tugger whispered, making Bomba whip her tail right in his face. He cackled, making Demeter groan and Bomba rolled her eyes.

‘This is what happens when you send mates to distract mates, especially true mates. You can’t keep shit from another, so you have to figure out how to work with it. For us, just accepting that I can’t distract for shit with Tugger, it came down to having an enjoyable time.’ Bomba thought as Demeter led to the den that they were using for his birthday bash. As they entered, Bomba watched as Tugger hid his knowledge of this party and, with the skill of a trained actor, showed surprise. ‘I guess that’s what you get when you are the heir of the Theater Cat.’

Here is part 2 of my CATS (2019) thoughts that I wrote when I watched the movie for the first time 2 years ago!

Beautiful Ghosts

Francesca you’re doing wonderful sweetie

You’re obviously not a trained singer, but for the purpose of your character’s plot point and reason to be singing it fits so perfectly

Though the arc of beloning with the jellicles came too fast and too soon in the film

She should’ve sung verse 1, chorus, verse 2 and maybe another chorus now and then the bridge later in the film

Also the ending bit with Vic and Misto dancing together in the middle for some reason gave me flashbacks to the end of the Greatest Showman

Let’s first of all address the elephant in the room: I am still furious that they gave Syllabub/Jemima’s roles to Victoria and that definitely showed while I was watching it BUT-

I don’t think it would’ve worked in the film if Syllabub sang those bits

Syllabub works in the show, not the movie

Ummmm why is Victoria touching Griz before the “touch me” line???

Everyone’s - especially Munk’s - distaste for Griz as Vic leads her in was just really good and I liked it

The reprise is better than the original

The way that Cassandra’s expressions and actions change, especially during this number really makes it seem like she is the daughter of Griz and deadass I’m here for it

Still mad about Syllabub’s not getting to sing her but but it’s fiiiiiiine i guessss

Also there is a shot of Syllabub and Demeter together somewhere during this scene and I 1) don’t care that they don’t look anything alike and 2) don’t know who I have to sell my soul to but I will find it and treasure it

I liked that line for two reasons. 1) It is a nod to the origin to the phrase “Jellicle cat”. 2) It makes me think that that is the only true qualifications to be a Jellicle, making Victoria undoubtedly a Jellicle because have you seen her??

I can see Demeter singing “I won’t say I’m in love” When she first starts to realize her feelings for Munkustrap with Bomba, Jellylorum Tugger and Jennyanydots as the muses.

I headcanon that Macavity was her first love. It was passionate and intense and from her end very real and sincere. and it turned into this horrible thing that blew up in her face. Then she finds herself back in the junkyard and meets/get re-acquainted with Munkustrap. and after a while she mentions how she gets butterflies when he smiles and how she can’t help but smile and feel safe when he’s close to her. and Bomba’s like: Sweetie, your in love. and Demeter’s just . . . Nope. No. It’s not happening. She’s not going through that again. and with Macavity’s brother of all people!

But slowly she heals. Slowly she grows closer to Munk. and eventually, She accepts and embraces the fact that she’s in love with him in her heart.

“At least out loud, I won’t say I’m in love.”

Sonal Celebration Week Year 2

Here’s my next submission! @boundforfreedomsonsal   Taking place after a certain infamous issue of the comics, but in this ‘universe’ a certain ‘slap’ never happened. Never, ever, ever, ever screw that noise! For the rest of the prompts, I’m going to use my ‘Reunion’ fic as the base for this take of the Archie-verse in that Sonic and Sally got together after Endgame. So unless I state otherwise all my submissions will have some sort of interconnectivity for readers to enjoy! 

Double Date:

“Unck really decked out this place into a full friggin’ restaurant while I was gone in space didn’t he?”

At the quip stating the obvious, from across the table Knuckles and Julie-Su, both busy with their own meals; fried steak in gravy, with a side of various veggies, and a double burger with fries respectively; merely nod and continue eating. Not that either Echidna was unwilling to engage in small talk, they were just that hungry!

Chuckling at the two, for being engrossed in their meals, but truly not begrudging them, Sonic gave his Uncle’s restaurant another quick look around. The place had been a walk-up, and sit down at a counter to eat and go joint; now it was a full-on eatery with indoor dining and looked nice. Not fancy-fancy, but it was clean and well kept. He was glad in a way, his Uncle kept busy while he was tracking across the galaxy to get home. So much had changed, both at home and across the planet with Eggman pretty much trying and in some cases, succeeding in reclaiming territories the original Robotnik held and then lost after his defeat.

Realizing he was dwelling on stuff that he should focus on another day; Sonic shook his head to clear it, and the hedgehog had not just finished the gesture when he found a delicious chili-dog hovering near his face. Smiling, he craned his head to his side. “I can feed myself Sal, I still got one arm I can use.”

The lovely squirrel-munk holding said object of deliciousness, merely smiled back in a manner that made Sonic’s heart melt. “You do, but…” Her free hand snaked into his uninjured hand (the other was in a sling) and held it firmly. “You can’t feed yourself while I’m bogarting your remaining appendage.” After a brief beat, her expression turns to that of a sly grin he was all-too-familiar with. “Also I’m not letting go, so let me indulge you sweetie.”

Shrugging in defeat, Sonic opened his maw, and bite down on the offered chili-dog. Chewing and swallowing the bite in quick order. Then going for another bite, and rinse and repeat until it was gone. After licking his lips, he made a moan of delight as his taste-buds delighted in the morsel he just polished off. “Mmmm-hmmm!! By the Almighty I missed food from home!”

Seeing an opportunity for a playful jab, Knuckles swallowed his own bite, a roguish grin on his face. “Gee, a whole year in space, and he just missed the food from home. I guess Sally and the rest of us are chop-liver.”

Unable to help herself, Julie joined in, setting her half-eaten burger on her plate and clutched her chest as if wounded. “Oh woe, we mourned and cried over his seeming demise and he only cares for chili-dogs upon his return!! Sally, you should break up with him, or just break him. Make for a helluva show after dinner.” The tease in her voice was thick, and the ‘ham’ piled on as the pink-furred echidna ran with the joke and enjoying herself immensely. 

Narrowing his eyes as the two echidnas start to laugh together, Sonic rolled his eyes again and exhaled an exasperated breath. “Why did we invite you two to double date again?” Looking to his left side, he feigned a hurt expression, seeing Sally was trying to hold back her giggling by covering her mouth with her hand. “Oh, I see how it is, fine maybe I will just take this plate of chili-dogs and be by my lonesome!”

 Snorting, Sally reached up with her hand not holding his and cups his face tenderly. “S-sorry, but I needed that laugh. Forgive me?” She pleads softly, batting her eyelashes in a cutesy manner that Sonic only had seen Sally use back when they were kids and wanted her way. Darn it, it still worked on him!

“Well, eh I’m in a forgiving mood, plus I missed you too much.” He replied back, moving his arm not in a sling from where she held it between them on the seat and snaked it around her waist to pull her closer. Once close enough the two share a quick kiss, followed by a nose-to-nose nuzzle, ending with the two smiling at the other as they stare into one another’s eyes.

Any further playful quips died on Knuckles and Julie’s mouths as they both simply smiled and let the two have the moment. Briefly, their gazes met, and not unlike the pair across the table; they each slid a hand into the others’ and squeezed back. Considering they both dealt with their own ‘death and separation’ situation a year ago just before Sonic was thought to have died; they could deeply empathize with the need to reconnect.

When you had a second (or in Sally and Sonic’s case third), chance to be with your loved one after thinking they were gone; you took it. This was something both couples at the table understood to the core.

“Hey, Jules?” “Hmm?” She looked over at Knuckles, finding his purple eyes staring gently into her own.

“Love ya,” He leaned in and kissed her cheek. Simple, and direct but it was very Knuckles to the core.

Which to Julie, meant worlds, her own face turning a darker shade of pink. “Love you too… but you made a mistake.”

This made him blink, as well as worry he goofed somehow. “I did?”

“Yeah, you should’ve kissed me here.” Sliding closer, and her arms around his neck Julie fastened her lips to his, kissing her boyfriend deeply, uncaring of the public setting.

Both Sally and Sonic stare at their friends boldly making out and slowly turned to look at one another.

“Are you thinkin’ what I’m thinking Sal?” The blue hedgehog inquired with one of his usual, cocky, devil-may-care, smiles.

“If your thought is ‘I need to make out with my girlfriend and show up Knuckles and Julie-Su’, then yes, yes I am in full agreement.” She replied playfully, eyes sparkling with want, if not need for such a thing. Scooting closer, Sally carefully angled herself, while making sure she didn’t disturb his arm in the sling. “I love you Sonic, welcome home.” “Glad to be home, and love you too Sal, now c’mere.” Leaning in, Sonic finished closing the distance and the two happily kissed, and like their friends across the table, not caring too much if they disturbed any patrons in the restaurant.

Luckily for the two couples, at this mid-evening hour, and the fact all of Knothole had celebrated Sonic’s return earlier, most of the city was winding down if not asleep. Save for one or two people drinking coffee in the corner booths, only two others in the place paid them any mind.

As the plate with her sandwich was laid before her, followed by a refill of her tea, Rosie Woodchuck glanced one last time at the booth near the windows by the door; rolled her eyes, and smiled. “A bit improper making out so boldly in public, but ah, young love, and it’s so nice to see the Princess smiling again.” Turning back to the hedgehog with greying fur over the counter, her eyes looked into his, her smile widening as she noticed his gaze was on the two couples as well. “Seeing you smiling again is also a welcome change.”

Chuck chuckled, his mustache twitching as he returned his attention to Rosie. “Just happy to see my dear Sonny-boy again. I swear these kids are already making me grey early.”

Rosie idly touched her own greying locks before picking up her sandwich to take a bite. After she chewed and swallowed, she spoke again. Her voice soft, with a touch of forlorn but also with purpose. “I’ll take being grey as long as they’re alive and happy.”

“Likewise,” He nodded firmly, then looked around the diner doing a final head-count since closing time was within the next thirty to forty-five minutes. Eyeing the couples and then Rosie again, Chuck waggled his bushy eyebrows as a cheeky smile crossed his face. “I’m surprised you haven’t ‘ahemed’ at them for such impropriety.”

“I’m going to let it slide tonight, but next time I will.” The former royal nanny and all-around caregiver replied with her own wicked smile. “Sometimes, it’s alright to let young love be… bold. It’s not like I wasn’t young once myself.”

Hearing that Chuck couldn’t help himself. “So even prim and proper Rosie made out with boys?”

“As I said I was young once.” She stated with a slightly saucy smile.

“You’re not old yet Rosie, you’re still a knockout.”

“Flatterer.” She snored, but she sent him an appreciative glance and reached over the counter to touch his hand resting on it. “Still, thank you, Charles it’s nice to hear that.”

“I can tell you much more later tonight if you wish.” He added in a polite if sly manner.

A sparkle lit in Rosie’s eyes. “Is that a promise?”

Lifting her hand, Chuck placed a gentlemanly kiss upon the top of her hand. “If the lady wishes.”

A light blush at the smooth but very welcomed gesture, made Rosie feel tingly. “I think, perhaps after you close up, you escort me to my home, and we can enjoy some ‘proper’ quality time out of the public eye.”

Now with the same sparkle in his eyes, Chuck smiled warmly at Rosie as he kissed her hand again. “It’s a date.”      Author’s Notes: I had fun with this one, especially Chuck and Rosie’s dialogue at the end. May not have had as much Sonic and Sally focus, but the story just flowed to me.

This scene where Munk and Mambo are telling Ella what would have happened to her if Frieda hadn't tipped the scales is actually a really nice one. Like she thinks about what she truly wants and wonders if she would truly be happy with the life set for her. Heavy stuff. It's a bit of a shame the rest of the movie isn't as good as this scene. the dancing - francesca’s dancing was gorgeous, and skimble’s tap sequence was lovely. i’m not a HUGE fan of the choreography, but!! when they all lifted victoria up like in the broadway revival!!! loved it

tugger almost sucked victoria’s toes.. pls no

didn’t enjoy jennyanydots or bustopher. that much just a personal gripe with their interpretations.. i didn’t think they were funny, but the kids in the audience did, so that’s more of a personal taste thing you know

mistoffelees’ clumsiness. i know it was supposed to be endearing, but idk.. it’s just hard to enjoy that in him he’s just so DiFFERENT.. there were so many stops and starts in misto’s song it was hard to get into, but i did enjoy the cats all having unwavering faith in him 

macavity. i just didn’t enjoy how he was portrayed. i know he was toned down for kids.. but he didn’t seem threatening to me at all. 

the cgi you sort of get used to after a while and sometimes it’s not that bad and you can see the more feline proportions.. BUT.. there were scenes where it was super uncanny valley, and some stuff as unedited, like i kept seeing judi denches wedding ring on her very human hand fgnrtgdf

naked macavity was hellish..put your coat back on please, i’m begging you

I wanted to go with Munk for Bow because they’re both sweetie pies and I feel like the platonic Deme-Munk content would be plentiful there

And I had the most trouble Glimmer honestly, I was thinking of Jemima because they’re both short but I was weary about it because I know a lot of people ship GlimBow, and Jemima/Munk isn’t really my cup of tea. The other option for Glimmer was Alonzo because I feel like they can both be sorta salty and Alonzostrap’s nicer

Or I could switch it around so Mistoffelees is Glimmer (short and sparkly and munkoffelees is cute definitely), and make Mermista Alonzo since they’re both sassy and the interactions with Tugger as Seahawk would be fun

So yeah! Lots of options! If you have any suggestions I’d love to hear them :D

Demestrap:

I LOVE them!!!!! They deserve each other. Demeter is so skittish and Munk is so protective!! And he’s so hard-working and stressed and she is so gentle and calming 😭😭😭

Munk was probably just the perfect gentleman in the early stages of their relationship and he still is!! I’ll bet that dork asked to hold her hand the first time they did it. He treats her so right.

And Demeter adores him just as much!! She is his partner in everything and she makes sure that he takes care of himself.

I like to imagine that their courtship got kick-started with Jemima (whom I hc as Deme’s daughter by Macavity) taking a liking to Munkustrap. He offered to babysit her very often so that Deme could get some alone time, or go out with friends, and she’s like “oh?? Husband material??”

It was definitely a slow-burn romance; Deme needed time to recover from her last relationship, and Munk was more than willing to wait for her.

Platoria

Another pairing that I’m into! They remind me a lot of high-school sweethearts. They’re both still very young and getting the hang of Being Functional and Independent, but they’re making their way through life together.

Plato is SUCH a cheesy and romantic boyfriend, bringing her flowers and serenading her with songs that he wrote himself (mostly; he gets Alonzo’s help).

Victoria showers him with cute, dumb nicknames and compliments. He is her Sweetie Bear, her Honey Bunny, her Big Gentle Mountain Lion, etc.

Rumpletoria

I have just recently started looking into this ship and I’m HERE for it!!!! Disaster Lesbian Teazer and Functional Bi Victoria is a ship that I did not expect but I am glad that it has gained popularity!!

Teazer being super chaotic and a complete mess because “djdjb gosh how is Vic so pretty????” and Vic sees Teazer as a rougishly attractive swashbuckler like “oh!! How romantic and exciting!!” and they’re both so desperately head over heels for each other!!

Rumpleteazer stealing pretty trinkets for Vic (“a queen must have her jewels!”) and Victoria teaching Rumpleteazer some elegant and intimate ballet moves and Rumple gets so flustered lifting Vic and holding her so close and Vic is like “oh yeah it’s all coming together”

Platoriteazer:

Of all the poly ships in Cats, this one is probably my favorite!! God the dynamic is so strong. Plato and Teazer are both dumbasses with a single brain cell between them and it’s entirely dedicated to “oh jeez oh gosh our girlfriend is so pretty skdndjsidhfb”

Mungoffelees:

As far as 2019 goes, I’m into it!! The way Munk urges Misto on and encourages him??? The way he gently touches him and sings to him???? 😩👌 12/10

As for the stage version, I don’t have particularly strong feelings for or against it.

Tuggoffelees:

To absolutely nobody’s surprise, this is my all time favorite Cats pairing! These two have my entire heart!!

Where do I even begin??? The power of their homoerotic energy leaves me shaking. Their fondness and adoration of eachother is just so heartwarming!!!

Tugger seems to crave attention and then he spends an entire song praising somebody else?? He’s going all-out to draw the tribe’s attention to his magical and marvelous bf and it’s so much more meaningful and powerful that it comes from Tugger of all cats!!

And Misto is a fuckin wild card!! You cannot tell me that he isn’t a Chaotic Bastard Trickster. He’s never where you think he is, and the intensity of his powers are a wonder even to him! Nobody knows what he’s gonna do next! He is elusive, secretive, and sly.

I think that they’re both a little bit scared of rejection/letting others down.  That’s why Tugger is such a show-off and yet is oddly distant, and why Mistoffelees is so “vague and aloof.”  They truly bring out the best in each other, though–Tugger is obviously Misto’s hype man, and Mistoffelees sticks by Tugger no matter what.

So I wrote this a little over two years ago. They are my first thoughts in watching CATS (2019)

This was written basically as soon as I got home from the theatre in 2019. I truly hope you enjoy these, as they have been gathering dust in my drafts. Now, without further ado:

These are just some of my thoughts I had while watching and my initial reaction to the film I have just watched.

Okay, first of all, me and my pals thought we were in the wrong cinema for a couple minutes because there were faaaaar too many people in the cinema

As we all know, the music slaps and me and my pals were straight vibing as the camera panned down. 

And then the cats appeared. I legit was thinking, “wow they actually made them look like that, huh?”

I immediately identified Munk, Cass, Dem and Syllabub
