#3 I LOVE THE MESS THAT IS CAIRO
There is so so much to hate about Cairo; the noise, the sexual harassment, the pollution, yet for some reason no other city has entered my heart quite as much as this one. Its chaotic but in a good way, in a way that feels to me like it could and does inspire so many do make music, art, culture. No city grows like that randomly, the way Cairo developed is a very real Egyptian population answer to the problems that they face and they express that in the architecture and the chaos of the city. I love Zamalek and the nights out by the Nile, the old palaces you can visit for absolutely no money because you are an Egyptian and they are owned by the government.
I love Masr el-Gedeeda, el-Korba with its human life bustling around till the very very late stages of the night, the old architecture blending in with the new, the coffeeshops you can sit on and the music that is being played. Most of all though, if there is one place that has entered my heart, it has to be Maadi. I LOVE THE PLACE. I love the mixture of calmness and art in some areas and the bustle of the city in others.
I was born here in Cairo, though I did not grow up here but I have been living here alone since I was 16 years old and the lessons that I have learned. The beauty that I have seen, is unparalleled. That is why its an honour for me to call myself a part of Qahirat al-Muezz-Li-Din-Allah al Fatemiyy.
