Outback NSW 2022. More of the amazing rock art at the Mt Grenfell Historic Site. I seems clear to me here we have dancing and hunting enactments and some other deeply spritual stuff.

Outback NSW 2022. More ochre rock art from Mt Grenfell. A pretty clear parade of emus. The art record implies emus were much more common in the days before white “settlement”.

Outback NSW 2022. Apparently, some sort of burrowing cricket-like insect, not ants. Lucky, because I wouldn’t want to mess with ants that big. We saw these in lots of places, but first here, and in this density, at Mt Grenfell historic site near Cobar.

Outback NSW 2022. One of the jewels of Cobar is the Mt Grenfell Historic Site and its indigenous rock art. I suspect the tick-like object in white in the middle is an echidna, or “spiny ant eater”,  Tachyglossus aculeatus, one of only four monotreme species in the world.
