Haarige Gewächse auf meinem Handydisplay

Am 1. März fällt mein Handy aus meiner Jackentasche auf den PVC-/Holzfußboden von Aleks’ Bad. Es steckt in seiner Gummihülle, der Sturz ist also nicht härter als an jedem anderen Tag. Trotzdem geht es danach nicht wieder an.

Zwanzig Minuten lang lade ich es, wackle am Kabel und drücke den Einschaltknopf. Dann denke ich “ich weiß!” und suche bei Google nach fairphone shiftphone, denn eines davon wird mein nächstes Handy sein. Ich habe noch nicht mehr als die ersten Zeilen des ersten Vergleichstests gelesen, da geht das Handy wieder an. Auf die Drohung mit Neukauf ist Verlass.

Aber es ist nicht mehr wie vorher. Bisher hatte das Displayglas nur ein paar unauffällige Risse, die durch weiteres Fallenlassen des Handys wenige Wochen nach dem blutigen Displayaustausch vom Sommer 2021 entstanden sind. Einer dieser Risse entwickelt sich in den nächsten Tagen zu einem dicken grauen Strich, der nachts manchmal unheilvoll blinkt.

Dann wachsen diesem grauen Strich seitlich rote Haare, sie sehen aus wie die Festhaltewurzeln beim Efeu. Die Haare werden immer zahlreicher und länger. Ich habe ausreichende Mengen Horrorfilme und -Romane konsumiert, um zu wissen, dass das Auftauchen haariger Gewächse, wo vorher keine waren, ein unaufhaltsam fortschreitender und fataler Vorgang ist.

Ich bestelle bei Ebay ein Austauschdisplay. Jetzt ist es billiger als beim letzten Mal, es kostet nur noch 30 Euro. Mein herrlicher vielteiliger Handyreparatur-Werkzeugsatz liegt in Berlin, wo ich nicht bin, aber das Ersatzteil wird mit zwei Spezialschraubenziehern geliefert, die vielleicht passen werden (”nur ein Geschenk, keine Beschwerden, kein Umtauschrecht”).

Als ich angefangen habe, diesen Beitrag zu schreiben, lag das Display noch in einem Auslieferungslager. Mittlerweile wurde es in ein Lieferfahrzeug geladen, so dass ich zuversichtlich bin, den Austausch durchführen zu können, bevor die roten Haare mein ganzes Display aufgegessen haben und sich in den Rest des Haushalts ausbreiten.

Update: Einer der zwei Gratisschraubenzieher passte und der Austausch dauerte diesmal nur eine Viertelstunde. Eine weitere Dreiviertelstunde verbrachte ich damit, den sehr gut klebenden Kleber vom letzten Mal aus dem Handy zu schaben.
