Pairing: Coriolanus x Reader
Summary: A general must always be in control, according to General Caius Marcius Coriolanus . But there often comes a time when even the most powerful general falls to temptation. And for Coriolanus, that temptation is you.
"Tell me again why we're here…" Coriolanus grumbled while he and his closest advisor Postumus Cominius Auruncus - the commander of the Roman army - meandered through the market place, under the sweltering sun. The two of them passed by an elderly vendor selling figs and dates in jars filled with honey. Coriolanus turned up his nose and grimaced at the mere thought of how sickeningly sweet they must be.
Cominius wiped the sweat from his forehead. "Because ever since your mother decided to end your marriage to Virgilia, she has been insistent upon finding you another wife."
"Well I'm not going to find anyone here." Coriolanus scoffed, watching from the corner of his eye a group of elderly women peddling various fruits. 
Cominius handed them a handful of denarii in exchange for a good five apples and two plums. "You refuse to leave your study or the training grounds. Most of the banquets and parties disgust you," Cominius remarked. "What else was I supposed to do?"
The question fell upon deaf ears; Coriolanus was caught in an exchange with a man - possibly of Nubian descent - selling a bottle of red wine supposedly worthy of Mars, the God of War. The man was speaking utter horseshit but Coriolanus offered the man three silver denarii in exchange for it. As a bonus, Coriolanus was also given a smaller bottle of sweet wine infused with honey and berries. Coriolanus made a mental note to offer it to this mother…or to a stray dog, whichever would be more convenient. He gave the vendor a grunt and took both bottles in one hand, holding them by their necks. Just then, the sound of female laughter reached Coriolanus's ears. Determined to chastise the ladies for being so loud and brazen in public, Coriolanus sharply turned his head in the direction of the sound. 
Then, his eyes fell upon you. And in an instant as swift and sudden as the striking of Jupiter's thunderbolt, his initial resolve disappeared. Coriolanus simply stood there, gaping at you. He watched as you walked and laughed with one of your friends, holding each other's arms, and carrying baskets of vegetables, bread, and meat. The rest of the world faded away, piece by piece, and there was nothing but you…You, with your eyes full of life, the hem of your dress billowing around your feet while you moved, your hair framing your face in the most lovely way possible.
"Well I'm not going to find anyone here," Cominius mimicked his friend and snickered, taking note of Coriolanus's staring.
As if under a spell, Coriolanus put one foot in front of the other, making his way towards you. He was drawn to you, his heart racing quicker than the footsteps of a warhorse, his breath unsteady, only a single thought occupying his mind: you.
Seeing the tall man in armor approaching in your direction, you sternly held your friend close and moved out of his way to avoid trouble. "Pardon me." You had no idea what a soldier's intentions could be at any given moment, especially if he happened to be drunk with power. 
Coriolanus turned his had in one swift motion, his eyes fixated upon you, even as you hurried away with your friend. "Stop," he ordered, raising his voice. "I said STOP!"
Without thinking, Coriolanus reached forward and grabbed your arm, forcing you to turn around.For the first time, he could have a good look at all of you and witness what he believed to be true, unparalleled beauty in the flesh. He tightened his grip around the recently-bought wine bottles in his other hand until his knuckles whitened, wishing that hand were wrapped around your waist instead. With a swallow, he parted his lips. He had you now, but what was he to tell you?
"What's going on?" You demanded, looking him in the eye. "I wish to know." The general kept his silence, his pupils dilated. In most situations, hearing someone speak to him with such a fiery tone would anger him. But this time, there was a different emotion inside of him, one he never thought he would feel.
Cominius came to the rescue, standing behind Coriolanus. "I believe you've caught my friend's eye, my lady. Forgive him, he's not well-versed in the art of speaking to the fairer sex." You continued to look at Coriolanus, who averted his gaze for a moment as his limbs grew stiff.
You release yourself from Coriolanus's grip, a red welt present on the place where he roughly grabbed you. 
"My name is Postumus Cominius Auruncus, the Commander of the Army of Rome. And this is Caius Marcius Coriolanus, a general and a brave soldier."
"Good." You gingerly said.
Coriolanus looked you back in the eye. "My lady," he gritted through his teeth, "the proper thing for you to do is to tell us your name. And perhaps tells us your lineage and the homeland you hail from."
"And the proper thing for you is to stop grabbing ladies by the arm." You retorted, causing your friend to gasp.
"Forgive her, general," your friend stammered, putting herself between you and the two men. She told Coriolanus your full name, as well as your status as the daughter of a merchant and the sister of two legionnaires in the army.
His expression softened once again. "Tell me your name again."
You relented, uttering your name before leading your friend away and picking up your baskets. Before Coriolanus could have a chance to call out to you one more time or bid you farewell, you'd already disappeared among the crowds of ordinary citizens.
Cominius chuckled, giving Coriolanus a strong nudge. "You're welcome."
Coriolanus shot him a glare, biting the inside of his cheek so he wouldn't be caught smiling like an idiot. "That was unnecessary. She's just some common woman." A common woman too saucy for her own good.
That night, as the general lay in his bed alone, sleep evaded him like a coward fleeing the battlefield. He rested on his back, arms on either side of his tall, muscular frame, his chest rising and falling with each bath. Every time he closed his eyes, his mind flooded with images of you. Images of you from earlier that day, bathed in sunlight, giggling freely like a nymph while your dress clung perfectly to your form. Coriolanus mentally cursed you, simply out of frustration for robbing his sleep and rendering him unable to think of anything else but you. 
As the hours passed, his mind wove those images into a dream. A dream in which you were simply walking through a street, smiling to yourself as you took in your surroundings. Every once in a while, you would briefly turn to Coriolanus, looking at him with a smirk, before returning to your seemingly mundane stroll. All Coriolanus could do was admire your willingness to look him in the eye without flinching, and this disturbed him. Even in his sleep, his jaws clenched and his muscles tensed with every smirk of yours. He wanted more than to simply gawk at you like a fool looking at a statue.
"What's going on?" Your voice echoed in Caius's mind. "…The proper thing for you to do is to stop grabbing ladies by the arm."
Coriolanus advanced towards you. He desired to be closer to you. He desired to feel more than simply your arm, which fit perfectly in his hand. He desired to hear you speak to him, to be delighted by the sound of your voice, to be the one you laughed and smiled in the presence of. 
And after what felt like several painstaking moments of being a helpless voyeur, Coriolanus witnessed his dream take a different turn.
Coriolanus found himself in his bedroom, wearing a white tunic with a red border, and nothing else. "Caius?" You called to him before appearing in the doorway, wearing an emerald green stola and gold jewels. Your hair was left undone as if you were preparing for sleep or for a bath. Your expression bore no smirk, but rather a simple smile that invited him closer. Closing the door, you lit a candle near his bedside, your eyes meeting his. 
At that moment, Coriolanus could not hold himself back any longer. Now was the opportunity to take you for himself, quench the restlessness that had been brewing inside of him for far too long. Coriolanus took a few strides towards you, his pace increasing with each one. And with every step he took towards you, you took two steps backwards until he was almost chasing you in his chamber. Finally, he managed to corner you against a wall, the two of you staring at each other with anticipation.
Coriolanus closed the distance between you and clasped your wrist, letting his other hand wrap itself your waist. He instinctively leaned into you, his lips a hair's breadth from yours, whispering, "You temptress…evil woman. You have no idea how much I crave you…how terribly I want you all to myself. What is this spell you've cast upon me?" Coriolanus lightly pushed you against the wall and pressed his forehead against yours. "I must have you now." He tugged at the fabric of your dress and leaned in again to kiss you, but you turned away from him.
"No, Caius," you pleaded in a breathy tone. "Not like this."
This is utter rubbish. You were his to have, this was nothing but a dream, what was stopping him from taking you right here and right now, ending this agitation once and for all? Coriolanus tried to touch you again, but you simply disappeared.
Taken aback, Coriolanus backed away from you, his brow furrowed. "How?" He demanded, glaring.
"Seduce me."
Coriolanus immediately woke up with a start, his brow beaded with sweat, his heart racing, and his pelvic muscles tightened. "Gods be damned," he muttered, cursing your name as he tasted it for the first time.

Sneak peak
Hello! I had some brainrot on Klee and Keaya exploring Fontaine. I typed up a lil rough draft on my lunch break and I wanted to share it as a sneak peak before pounding out the rest!

“No, no, no, nononononononononono--”
Almost in slow motion, Jumpy Dumpy rolled and bounced across the walkway. Keaya watched in muted horror as another small explosion rocked the inner city wall. Small pieces of stone flew past him, and flames blackened the once white stone.
“Jean is going to kill me,” Keaya whispered.
Screams echoed in the market. People jostled and bumped into him as they ran away. Billowing clouds of smoke rose high above the city wall. Pieces of robots were strewn across the road, and small fires broke out in stalls. A few shopkeepers grabbed buckets and ran to a nearby aqueduct to put out the fires.
A small figure clad in red slammed into his torso and hugged him tightly.
Klee pulled her tearstained face away from his shirt and cried, “Mister Keaya, I didn’t mean it! I promise, I just got so excited to see the robots! I’m trying really hard to be good.”
“Hey, hey, it’s okay, Klee, I know it was,” Keaya said soothingly.
Normally, Keaya would be able to smooth over the misunderstanding quickly. It didn’t take much, just an explanation and some sweet talk. If the damage was more than usual, he’d offer some of his own mora as a small reparations payment and top it off with a promise to fix everything that was damaged.
Would that be considered bribery?
He winced as a chunk of the wall fell with a loud thud onto the blackened pathway.
Perhaps he’d find out sooner than expected.
The Courts of Fontaine were known to be unwavering in their pursuit of justice and relentless in finding the truth of the situation before demanding an equivalent punishment or retribution. Klee wouldn’t be spared from their system, no matter how much of an accident it was. Maybe he’s biased here, but Klee is a good kid. Deep down, she really means well. She’s just prone to… accidents.
Keaya looked up, from here he could just catch a glimpse of the court’s glittering roof.
Maybe… maybe the courts would go easy on them. After all, he was technically the person who was holding the bomb. If nothing else, maybe he could convince them the bombs were his and he forgot to leave them in Mondstadt. If he was convicted and held in the Fortress, maybe he could convince a nice officer to let him write to the Knights of Favonius. Lisa or Jean could come get Klee and smooth everything over.
Maybe everything would be okay?
A tiny explosion went off by the wall. Those who stayed behind to put out the fires yelled and jumped back.
Maybe Jean would reduce his sentence.
He and the shopkeepers kept their eyes fixed on the wall. When it seemed there wouldn’t be any more explosions, they went back to assessing the damages done to their shops. He looked down at Klee with a raised eyebrow and she nervously muttered something about a modification she made to the bombs on the way here. All so she could ‘test them against the super strong robots’ she heard about from the boat attendants.
Barbatos, help us.
Keaya sighed and grabbed a hold of Klee’s small hand. “It seems the situation is under control here, how about we go to the Grand Courts and explain what happened, yeah?”
Klee nodded hesitantly and grabbed his hand. Together, they walked towards the Grand Courts.
.....Nothing else could go wrong, could it?

I’m saying this as someone who’s only exposure to Dune pre movie was a porn parody flash game, and a blog article about said flash game arguing that it was one of, if not the most faithful Dune adaptation of the time…
How the FUCK, do you not see this whole thing and think… “wow, these people are fucked up, and should not be emulated or looked up to in any real way.” Or “wow, this feels like a Manifest Destiny space AU.” Or “the main character being a privileged white kid who manipulates the religion of the people native to the planet to perform a coup by way of monopolizing and bottlenecking a resource necessary for FTL while ALSO exploiting those same native peoples feels like a bad time all around.”
I’m serious when I say the, again, porn parody flash game, where you play as Paul and the whole point is to monopolize the the spice market and create a harem while you were at it, imparted quite well, that the entire scenario was fucked up for many different and varied reasons.
While also being super horny about it
As much as I agree with your greater point, my joke was targeted mainly at younger dudes. The ones that don't necessarily try to parse "meaning" in anything they look at; but ones that will readily internalize all that dramatized and glorified imagery of jingoistic heroism in whatever context it comes packaged in. time's a flat circle! I choose to find it funny for now.
Listen, in the general public consensus, for all intents and purposes Dune is "just another blockbuster movie". its aesthetic trappings very much project a facsimile of your standard hero's journey monomyth. That is just inarguable fact, right? Lanky ass dude gets literally "chosen" and put on a prepared path to messianic glory against his will; his eventual acceptance of that mantle is the entire conflict of dune 1. he ends it by finally heading "into the desert". SUPER shitty optics when you discern the geopolitical allegory of it all, but also the music swells and the short-term pieces of the conflict are set in very black-and-white shades so like. The surface-level plot motions have been fulfilled in very traditional ways. Most young boys won't look further.
There is some lip service hinting at a darker destiny with his visions and his mom's turmoil, but that very much isn't the central POV of the storytelling. I just find it fascinating how well Dune wears both the monomyth and the summer blockbuster coats on its shoulders. USAF retires the first E-3 Sentry AWACS aircraft while going to E-7

The aviators of the 552th Air Control Wing met this week to say goodbye to the E-3 "0560" aircraft, during an event commemorating the rich history of the aircraft on March 31.
The "0560" aircraft is the first E-3 Sentry AWACS (Airborne Warning Air Control System) aircraft to retire from the fleet this year. As part of the Fiscal Year 2023 President's Budget Request, the Air Force Department announced its intention to retire 13 AWACS E-3 aircraft and redirect funding to acquire and field a replacement.

"Although some may see divestment as the end of an era, the retirement of this aircraft marks the beginning of the modernization of the 552a," said Colonel Keven Coyle, commander of the 552a ACW. "Despite the reduction of the fleet, the mission will remain the same, providing worldwide management, as well as command and control operations as needed."

The final destination of the "0560" aircraft will be the 309th Aerospace Maintenance and Regeneration Group at Davis-Monthan Air Base. AMARG, America's air power reservoir, is a unique specialized facility within the Air Force Support Center, providing aircraft preservation and storage, parts recovery, preparation for disposal, aircraft regeneration for flight status and depot maintenance for America's military services, U.S. government agencies and allied governments.
By retiring the E-3, the 552a can focus on prioritizing the integrity of the remaining fleet. The divestment of part of the fleet will improve sustainability by adding high demand and low availability parts back to the supply chain, providing a temporary improvement in aircraft availability.

Looking to the future, the U.S. Air Force considered and evaluated appropriate replacements of the E-3 AWACS to align with operational needs. On April 26, 2022, the U.S. Air Force announced its intention to replace a part of the AWACS aircraft with the E-7A aircraft. The Boeing E-7A is the only platform capable of meeting the tactical battle management, command and control requirements of the Department of Defense and target indicator capabilities in aerial motion.
"After extensive research and market analysis, it was determined that the E-7 is the most compatible to meet our requirements," said Coyle. “The aircraft will not only provide modernization, but will also establish a trilateral information and crew exchange program with the Royal Australian Air Force and the United Kingdom's Royal Air Force, which already operate on E-7.”

The first E-3 AWACS arrived in Tinker on March 23, 1977. Since then, most aircraft have been housed and sustained on this base. Although the replacement strategy at the base for the E-7 has not yet been finalized, the existing infrastructure will be considered as a replacement and the support options will be evaluated. The E-3 AWACS community values the long-standing relationship between Tinker Air Base and Oklahoma.

long Ganbarengers (big money sponsored sentai from my oc universe) musing under the cut bc i've been thinkin bout them while designin the suits
(probably won't make sense if you're not familiar w neo toku, so uh. take a peak in the tag if there's something you don't quite get)
the team consists of GanbaRed, GanbareBlue, GanbareYellow, GanbarePink and GanbareGreen, all hired by Gemini to be the new faces of the company after JUMP Stinger rebelled and JUMP Soldier left the public eye, with each member themed after something recognisable and easy to market, especially to children (in-universe talk for they're each based on different super sentai themes). The team use specialized, wrist-worn devices called GanBraces to transform and fight the monsters that threaten the city, eventually getting mixed up in the growing Gemini War.
GanbaRed is a young man who was a trainee firefighter prior to his recruitment, and always wanted to help people. He jumped at the chance to lead this new team, but soon starts to get overwhelmed at having the whole city's eyes and expectations pushed on him, chugging on despite his better judgement. He's quietly replaced by a suit actor with pre-recorded lines later on when he starts to become a liability to the company, with the spotlight shifted to other members of the team to keep it hushed. His theme is Rescue Vehicles and his mecha is a Fire Engine.
GanbareBlue was an amateur researcher and scientist specialising in cybernetics prior to their recruitment, not super thrilled that their theming was decided to be generalized Science™️. They've always been fascinated by the Gemini Crickets enhancements and bodies and took the job as a Ganbarenger to hopefully one day get to see the schematics of their bodies (dubious and morally awful circumstances of their creation aside). They begin to develop an interest in Ruriko Ishino after seeing her fight as Stinger, eventually helping her with tech and research in regards to the kaijin in the city (and perhaps becoming moree??? 👀👀). Their theme is Science and their mecha is based on a Fruit Fly, being the only flying mecha on the team.
GanbareYellow is the youngest of the team, a girl who finished high school the year prior and accepted the job as a Ganbarenger to get admission to university after failing her entrance exam. She sends the money she earns back to her sick mother alongside her older brother, who became GanbareGreen. She is timid as her civilian self, but fierce and brave as GanbareYellow, taking down monsters with the honed Martial Arts skills that became her theme. She controls her humanoid Fighter mecha with full body motion sensors inside the cockpit.
GanbareGreen is GanbareYellow's older brother, who previously worked on a construction site before he'd heard his sister became a Ganbarenger. He approached a Gemini representiative after he was told this and demanded a spot on the team so he could make sure his sister was safe, Hideki Ishino himself allowing it specifically because he saw compelling brand potential in having siblings on the same team. Out of the five, Green is the one least okay with Gemini as a company and the Ganbarengers as a brand, thinking the whole model reprehensible. He eventually joins up with Stinger and GanbareBlue after having his powers revoked for "violent misconduct" and similarly being replaced on the team by an actor. His theme is Dinosaurs and his mecha is a T-Rex.
GanbarePink is a model who left the public eye a few years ago to transition, becoming a Ganbarenger because she saw the potential to return to modelling with a bang. She's vain and a little conceited, but has a big heart. She is at first antagonistic to her teammates behind closed doors, seeing them purely as coworkers and the Ganbarengers purely as a job, but soon comes to care for them as she sees their struggles. She leaves the team of her own volition when most of her teammates have left, urging Yellow to follow (Yellow returns to the company shortly after). Her theme is Animals, and she pilots a Lion mecha.
Briefly, as an attempt to maintain the Ganbarengers brand after the majority of the team had left, Gemini debuted a sixth ranger, GanbareGrand. He is a gold/black coloured, suave and charming magic-based ranger that pilots an independant Dragon mecha and became the main focus of the Ganbarengers in the public eye along with GanbareYellow as the only remaining team members. In his brief stint, the company tried to shift marketing slightly by manufacturing a romance between him and Yellow, however this ultimately failed to drum up hype for the team again. GanbareGrand is later killed in action (some say on purpose, to wipe the slate clean with the team and make way for Gemini's next project), with GanbareYellow fleeing with his Grand GanBrace. She'd later join up with her already defected teammates, using the jail-broken Grand GanBrace herself to become a new GanbareGrand on her own terms.

“Moxxi, allow me to introduce Ember.”
Skies points Moxxi’s hologram towards the fiery dancer, who bows respectfully.
“A pleasure, Mad Moxxi,” she says, “you are truly a legend.”
“I know,” Moxxi replies cheekily. “So you found your dancer, Skies. What next?”
“The Vault Hunters are working on finding Ember’s ship to get her tools, which she needs to help us,” Skies explains.
“To do what, exactly?”
“Well, obviously, to uh...” She trails off as she doesn’t know the actual answer, and looks at Ember.
“To burn through the tower’s front door,” Ember replies.
“Yes, of course.”
“And how will you get past those turrets?” Moxxi asks, “I thought only Timothy could move through them.”
“True,” Timothy agrees.
“Well...we can shut them down,” Skies suggests, “we just gotta get down to the station’s core and cut off their power. Only problem, that place is ultra-high security. I remember one of my trips here, Jack had to go down there and he wouldn’t even let me go with him. And you know that’s super weird cause I followed him everywhere. He even had me stay in the bathroom with him once when he had a bad chili dog- it was not a good day.”
“Well, security is why I’m here, right?” Timothy asks.
“Yes, but the control core is even more ultra-high security than the tower,” she explains, “not only do you have the face, voice, and DNA, but you’re also gonna have to really look and act like Jack, including your clothes.”
“What’s wrong with my clothes?” he questions, motioning to his black sweatpants, patchy yellow sweatshirt, and frumpy brown jacket.
“You may have everything else of Jack’s, Timmy, but you don’t have his fashion sense.”
“Nobody has Jack’s fashion sense.”
“That’s true.”
“Why would the control core have such high security?” Moxxi muses, “wouldn’t Jack need maintenance workers to go down there?”
“He took care of all that himself, as far as I know,” Skies replies.
“But why?” she demands, “he must’ve been hiding something. Jack always had another secret and, Skies, you knew all of his secrets.”
“That’s giving me too much credit,” Skies insists, “I figured out a lot of his secrets, yes, but if Jack was hiding something here, I have no idea what it is. Like I’ve said, I’ve only been here a couple times and every time I got super hammered. It’s hard to look for secrets when you’ve got a drink in one hand and a dancer on the other, you know what I mean?”
“Ah, oui,” Ember nods sagely.
“Well, I just hope that whatever secrets are here, Pretty Boy doesn’t get his little hands on them. That will be bad for all of us,” Moxxi says and points demandingly at Skies and Timothy, making them flinch. “So make sure it doesn’t happen.” With that, her hologram disappears and Skies and Timothy sag.
“Oh, she really nails that combo of terror and turn-on, doesn’t she,” Timothy sighs.
“She sure does,” Skies agrees, “anyway, we need to figure out how to get to that core. First off, we’ll need to make you look more like Jack than ever- which means we need his outfit- which means we need a tailor.”
“I can help with that, chérie,” Ember says, “Jacques had a personal tailor in the Market District.”
“Fantastic, easy peasy,” Skies remarks.
“Not quite so easy,” she argues, “he has changed careers, you see. Now he is the mayor of Trashlantis.”
“The mayor of what now?” Timothy questions.
“Many societies started after the lock down,” Ember explains, “Trashlantis is the only remaining one that has not joined Pretty Boy or been destroyed by him.”
“Okay...Trashlantis, huh,” Skies, “alright, no problem. We’ll find this Trashlantis and convince the mayor to help us. We better wait for the Vault Hunters to get back though. I don’t think they’d be too happy with us if we went to a place called ‘Trashlantis’ without them. Speaking of, I should see how they’re doing.”
She grabs her ECHO communicator and calls the Vault Hunters. “Hey, kiddos, how’s it going?”
“I fecking hate bureaucracy,” Zane replies coldly.
“This is why I stopped being an indexing unit,” Fl4K adds, “and my insatiable thirst for murder.”
“Okay,” Skies replies and puts her ECHO away. “Sounds like things are going well. Nothing to do now but wait.”
Skies, Timothy, and Ember settle onto the couch to relax and wait for the Vault Hunters. They don’t relax for long, however, when their ECHOs suddenly chime with a message.
“It is from Pretty Boy,” Ember gasps, “he must’ve sent it to every ECHO in the casino.”
“It’s me!” Timothy exclaims.
The message indeed shows a picture of Timothy, taken from a security camera, with the caption, “WANTED ALIVE,” and a high reward.
“Five million freaking dollars...and eighty-seven cents,” Timothy groans and hangs his head. “Oh my god. Every gangster on this station is going to be hunting for me now. I was just in the crap kiddie pool, and now I’m just doing the breaststroke in the diarrhea deep end! This just...I mean, this really sucks.”
“Don’t worry, Tim Tam,” Skies says, patting his shoulder. “Pretty Boy won’t be able to lay a clammy finger on you without me chopping him into even tinier bits.”
“Oui,” Ember agrees, “and I shall burn those bits to a crisp. We are a team now, after all.”
Timothy sighs and smiles gratefully.
The three of them wait a while longer in their hideout, telling Ember about everything she’s missed on the outside and practising with their guns, when the Vault Hunters finally call Skies.
“We got Ember’s tools,” Amara says.
“Magnifique!” Ember cheers.
“We also met somebody who wants to join the crew,” Moze adds, “he’s a programmer and he says he knows stuff about the casino.”
“Eh, well, I guess we can’t turn someone away who wants to join,” Skies replies reluctantly, “and a programmer could be useful with all the Hyperion security. Alright, bring him back to the hideout and I’ll vet him personally.”
They don’t have to wait long before the Vault Hunters return, leading a man with a blond mullet wearing lots of purple clothes.
“I know you were just on me about my fashion sense, but I’m at least better than this guy, right,” Timothy quietly asks Skies.
“Marginally,” Skies replies then faces the new guy. “Alright, kid, why are you interested in helping us?”
“I’m Freddie!” he replies enthusiastically, “I wanna help the bots! Pretty Boy’s always treating ‘em so poorly and they don’t deserve that. Can I help? Come on, I can program bots! You want Freddie!”
“Freddie’s really setting off my douchebag alarm,” Skies whispers to Timothy, who nods agreeably. Then she says, “alright, Freddie. Your skills may be useful to us. You’re in.”
“Yeah! Freddie!” he cheers.
Skies suppresses the urge to rip out Freddie’s vocal chords and turns to the Vault Hunters. “Alright, now that you guys have retrieved Ember’s tools, we can move on to the next part of our plan. It looks like we’re gonna need another member to join the crew so we’ll be making a trip to Trashlantis.”
“To where now?” Moze questions.
“Sounds unhygienic,” FL4K comments.
“My kinda place,” Zane remarks.
“How do we get there?” Amara asks.
“Oh, Freddie knows how!” Freddie replies, “you can get in through the trash chute in the Market District. It opens once a day when the maintenance bots make their rounds. However, I know that the bots have already made their rounds for the day, cause I’m Freddie and Freddie knows all about the bots. So you won’t be getting in that way.”
Skies groans, pinching the bridge of her nose. “How does that help us?”
“Oh. I guess it doesn’t.”
She growls angrily and Timothy holds her shoulders. “Easy, Skies. We don’t go killing crew members just because they’re annoying.”
“We could set the trash on fire,” Ember suggests, “the maintenance bots will see the smoke and come running.”
“Oooh, you had me at trash fire,” Timothy giggles.
Skies takes a deep breath and claps her hands. “Okay. First, let’s get to the Market District. Then we’ll start a trash fire.”
“I shall join you,” Ember declares, “so that I may spark the magnificent flames!”
“You really like fire, huh,” Timothy remarks.
“Fire solves many things,” she replies.
“Agreed,” Skies adds and points to the door. “Let’s roll, crew! New guy, watch the place. Don’t let anyone in unless it’s us, got it?”
“You can count on Freddie!” Freddie exclaims.
“I sure hope so, for your sake,” Skies mutters under her breath as everyone heads out.
