´ ・ . ✶ ━━ “ juliette ... ” came the whispered call. elenore was once again up later than she probably should have been. but she couldn’t sleep. she wondered if it was because the villa was way too silent. there was no hum of an engine , or the soft murmur of voices coming from another room.
elenore white had grown up in the middle of space - spending so much time on earth , was causing her insomnia to grow. standing just inside of juliette’s room , ellie knew she probably shouldn’t wake her sister up - but she couldn’t sleep. “ juliette ... ” she whispered again , this time stepping closer to the older girls bed. “ i - i can’t sleep. ”

Straight A Supervillain- Chapter Three
Remember this? Yeah, neither do I. Here's chapter three, though. (I'd recommend re-reading the first two if you forgot everything)
Previous
Next
Shit, Naomi thought. She'd known her parentage, if people ever found out, would make her an outcast among the other villains here, but the risk of expulsion hadn't really been something she considered. It made sense, though- heroes' entire purpose was fighting them, so why would they allow anyone close with the enemy into their school?
Well, she wasn't planning on letting anyone know about her parents anyway. She would just have to be more careful this time.
"Naomi?" Lani asked, voice full of concern." Are you okay?"
"What?"
"You look kinda..."
"Yeah, I'm fine."
"Okay."
She refocused her attention on the principal. He smiled. "But I'm sure that's not a risk for anyone. After all, why would a hero sympathizer come ot our school!"
"That would be ridiculous," Naomi muttered, hoping nothing in her face gave her away.
"So, I'm going to talk to you a little about your classes and how school life is going to work, now that I've gone over the rules. Since villains work well in teams, and you're going to want people to work on your evil ideas with you, you've been assigned teams. After one month, if you don't like the arrangement, we'll provide with the opportunity to choose new teams. Your first team consists of whoever you're sitting with right now."
Naomi looked at Noel, Lani, and Cameron. After knowing them for about five minutes, they didn't seem so bad. She wouldn't hate being on their team.
Especially not Lani's.
Shut up, you idiot bisexual.
"Your class schedules will be given to you soon, after we all eat dinner. Villains are each allowed to choose an elective that typically corresponds with their power, but otherwise, all classes are mandatory. Now, as I'm sure you all know, being a supervillain is a very competitive field. Because of this, we cannot allow everyone attending to proceed, even thought you all have good credentials so far. You'll be ranked off of your performance in each class and ranked overall, and every six weeks, the bottom five will be eliminated until it's narrowed down to fifty students. This will take three eliminations."
Naomi gulped. Eliminations? She would be eliminated if she didn't do well enough? Then what would happen? Where would she go? She couldn't go home, of course- if she lied and told her parents she'd been kicked out of Moonshadow's Hero Academy or whatever she'd called it, they would hate her, even if they never found out she really went to VHS.
She would just have to make sure she did well enough in her classes. It shouldn't be too hard. She'd been studying on supervillain.com for years, and had deceived the city's two best superheroes.
Naomi would be fine.
This was all just going to be much more stressful than expected. Wasn't being a supervillain supposed to be fun?
"That's all. Food will be served over there," he said, pointing over to the left side of the cafeteria. "You can go in any order and you can forcibly get to the front as long as there are no severe injuries or homocides. Inform your servers of any allergies or other dietary restrictions. We are villains, but we probably won't poison you- better reserve the murder for those pesky heroes, and sometimes particularly obnoxious civillians."
"Probably won't murder us?" Noel said. "That's comforting."
"Very," Naomi said.
Lani stood up. "Do you guys want to go get food? I’m starving.”
Everyone nodded and followed her to the line. Though it was rather long, Naomi kindly refrained from setting everyone on fire- since she was already at such risk of everyone finding out about her parents and hating her, she decided that angering them further would not be smart, especially in the first hour there. Instead, she discussed villain origin stories with her new villain team. Noel apparently loved chemistry and wanted to pursue a career as a mad scientist, which had more opportunities within the villain field. Cameron said he used to want to be a hero, but she'd done illegal graffiti before and wasn't allowed, so they decided being a villain would be just as fun.
By the time Naomi had rejected pork chops, explained the concept of Kosher to the cafeterian, deflected questions about the Israel/Palestine situation, and sat down to eat with her new villain group, she'd decided they were an excellent group of people to work with.
Their names were called in alphabetical order as they ate to receieve schedules. With her actual last name being Rothstein, she was used to being towards the end of things- as well as heads turning any time her name was announced- but this time they called "Naomi Lebowski." It took her a while to register that it was her name being called and not some other Naomi whose actual last name was Lebowski.
I'm fucking horrible at this, it's going to be great.
She came to the stage and took her schedule, then returned to the table. Everyone else in her group had already gotten theirs, so she quickly compared her schedules with theirs.
Period One: History of Supervillains
Period Two: Escaping Prison
Period Three: Lunch
Period Four: Evil Laughter
Period Five: Arson
Period Six: Hiring Henchpeople
Period Seven: Math
"Why is period seven math?" Naomi exclaimed as her eyes finished scanning the paper.
"You didn't know?" said Noel. "It was in the syllabus."
"I mostly skimmed that. There was kind of a lot of information."
"Anyway, math is apparently important, and even villains need to know math. Or something like that. What's your elective?"
"Arson," Naomi said.
Lani nodded. "Right, that was one of the things you said you liked, on your profile." Upon Cameron's confused glance, she added "We knew each other on supervillain.com, and Naomi's profile expressed her love for arson."
"Listen, arson is fun. What are your electives?"
Cameron glanced at his paper again. "Robbery 101," she said.
"I think I have that too!" Lani exclaimed. "What period?"
"Period five, I think all the electives are then."
"Yeah, that's when I have it. Cool!" She grinned. "How about you, Noel?"
"Chemistry," said Noel. "I want to be a mad scientist, remember? My power is ice, but they aren't all that fun, so I want to focus more on making things explode."
Naomi nodded. "Makes sense. Making things explode is very fun. So, what other classes do you guys have?"
After comparing schedules, they deduced that all four of them had math and lunch together, everyone but Noel shared fourth period Evil Laughter, Naomi had History of Supervillains with Cameron, and Hiring Henchpeople with Lani.
Excitement bubbled up in Naomi. She had a bit of the risk of getting caught with superhero parents and being expelled, but as long as she lied convincingly enough about that, she would be fine. Better than fine. She had a group of supervillains who she could actually be herself around instead of trying to be some perfect, heroic copy of her parents, classes she would enjoy more than she'd ever enjoyed school before, and was on her way to becoming a superhero like she'd always wanted.
It was all going according to plan.
After a delicious dinner, each table received their dorm room number, and they only got lost a few times before finding it. Their room had two beds on each side, seperated by a curtain. No one had particularly strong opinions, and they eventually decided that Naomi and Lani would take one side, and Cameron and Noel would share the other. Officially, they were supposed to go to sleep, but all of them were too excited for sleep, and wanted to unpack.
Over her bed, Naomi taped up her Mother Mother poster and a poster that said “when this virus is over, I still want some of you to stay away from me.” After fighting with her unnecessarily obnoxious roll of tape, she looked over at the rest of her group. Lani had a few photos taped up; one of her with a group of friends, one of her with her dads, and one of her with her extended family celebrating something she called Kamehameha Day, which Lani explained was a Hawaiian tradition.
On the other side of the curtain, Noel had a science fair certificate and a picture of a younger, long-haired him laughing maniacally at a model volcano. He kind of scared her, to be honest, so hopefully she stayed on his good side. Cameron had a few really good drawings- presumably theirs- above his bed, and a string of fairy lights.
Some of them (Lani, Noel) organized their newly unpacked clothes a little more neatly than others (Naomi, Cameron), and set their school materials on their desks. Lani had brought the entire Les Miserables book- holy shit, that looked long- and Cameron brought some slightly shorter books that the two of them were enthusiasticlaly discussing. Naomi walked over and sat on Noel’s bed while the two of them geeked out.
“So, you excited to be here?” he asked.
She grinned evilly.
Her first two weeks at VHS flew by. For the first time in her life, she was genuinely interested in her classes... other than math, that is. And history of villainry wasn't all that great. Everything else, however, was really fun.
Even villain history could sometimes be interesting, especially when the famous villain in question went to their school. It was sometimes hard to believe that Naomi lived in the same building as Dr. Plague, who'd once put every major superhero in the city into the hospital for a month, or Fallen Angel, who'd infiltrated the First Hero Council and murdered many of the most dangerous heroes, or Hurricane, a genderqueer hydrokinetic who Cameron nearly worshipped, famous for breaking every single law in Eyver City.
No one looked at Naomi weirdly if she said she wanted to steal something, or scoleded her for not being a perfect hero like her parents. They laughed in their always-improving evil cackle and helped her plan. People even liked Naomi for her, not for who her parents were. She got compliments for her own accomplishments, for things like having the fastest score on her prison escape test, not for sharing DNA with some accomplished people.
This school was every bit the paradise she'd imagined it would be.

ₓ ˚ . ୭ ˚ ○ ◦ ˚ ― ㅤ‘ FROM THE TAG. ’ | ACCEPTING ! ❛ 🫂 hugs ❜
* . ♡ she would never admit it openly. but sometimes she just needed a hug. her love language was touch (well it was giving but touch was a close second) and a hug was another way that the brunette expressed herself , especially when she was struggling with her words. a hug from her mother would have been preferred but she wasn’t around anymore. had to go back to the continuum. but ellie knew that the next person was living under the same roof as her. @moonshadowed (jean-luc picard). she never had to give him any reason as to why she needed one , it was just on instinct that he would open his arms and ellie would lay herself between them. head resting against his shoulder and her mind slowing down.
a contented sigh left her lips this time around - her head was buried against his shoulder , as they sat on the old mahogany couch. it was late , almost two in the morning - but they sat in the library , the fire was going and her insomnia was at an all time high - which meant that nightmares would be plaguing her as well.
she missed being in space. being on a ship. having an adventure. having a purpose. the villa lifestyle certainly was hard to get used too. and maybe that was why her insomnia acted up so much. shifting once more , ellie leaned further into the admiral , burying her head further into his shoulder. he smelled familiar. like home. like she didn’t need anybody else. maybe that’s why she stayed ? under the disguise of helping laris around the place , ellie just didn’t want to lose anymore family.
