Moomintrolls saved my psyche from university burnout

The silence except for the wind sound you have adds so much to this. No words need to be spoken, no songs need to be sung. Just silence, the wind and the impending dread of something out of their hands.

Also Snufkin grabbing Moomins paw! Oh my gosh its so good, so heart wrenchingly good.

Comet in Moominvalley 🌠 alternative ending (or not ending... of course, the comet doesn't hit)

As the family was about to take shelter in the cave, they stopped at the sight of the raging comet cutting through the clouds and revealing the impending disaster. They all knew then, yet no words were spoken between them, for there was nothing left to say. This was the end.

I was left utterly speechless at how poorly this story was adapted in Moominvalley. There was no impact, no sense of urgency or drama. In the book, as well as the 90s film, there is this constant sense of dread from the comet looming in the sky. Even though disaster feels inevitable, the family keeps going and stay together till the end.

In Moominvalley, the comet isn't a threat until we're halfway through the episode, leaving very short time for building up the tension. And yet, even after the reveal, the comet still doesn't feel threatening, because nobody seems to care?!

And don't get me started on the thing with the Groke 😤 what even was that.

At the bare minimum, they could have given us a moment like this to let us feel the emotional impact of when the characters believe this is the end. Just something to make us care. Also, by having Snufkin grab Moomintroll's paw, it could show the continuation of Snufkin's arc of learning to love and depend on his friend, rather than running away. Plus, it seems like a fitting "show, don't tell" solution to what he never got to actually say at the mountains episode 👀

I'm back! New moomins art! They are just decorating a hat with leafs and flowers. And there is a not very well drawn moominhouse. I also wanted to thank you all! I've never expected that my art will get so much attention (especially post with little Snufkin and Joxter). It is just unreal for me! Moomin fans, you are the best!!!

Yeah the Moominvalley (2019) Joxter is so different from the Joxter in the books-- but I love them both :3

More screen time for this homeless dude, I need to see him moving. As animation should be!

I'm happy with the result, probably could do a bit better. Still, I'd love to hear ya'll opinion on this.

(I'm aware this may not be the best way to actually show a design. I initially did this for myself, trying to find an easy way to animate him faster on my own. I'm still mourning)

Also the pipe being upside down is just a gag between me and my friend, cause you know, PROTECT THE CHILDREN! They might start smoking too, but at least we'd get him to be the most canon possible

So season 4 has completely taken over my mind and I enjoyed it quite a lot. Particularly a certain cat dad that showed up during it <w< ❤️💚

I love how they did his personality and GAH HE'S SO CUTE!

(And listen I know by how he acted in the episodes he most likely doesn't know that Snufkin exists or that he is even a father BUT UNTIL THAT IS CONFIRMED- (most likely in that film that went into planning the same time as season 4 went into planning) - I AM GONNA BE LIVING IN MY DELUSIONS AND KEEP DRAWING JOXTER WITH BABY SNUFKIN OKAY! 😭)

Moomin decides to visit Snork Maiden after getting chewed out by Little My (he had left on his quest to join Snufkin on his annual journey to the South very early in the morning). Spending time with her lightens his mood considerably. She is actually very used to comforting Moomin after Snufkin leaves every year by taking his mind off of it.
