I think Law knows the level of Luffy's craziness as he witnessed it first account at the Auction House when he punched the Celestial Dragon but what he wasn't prepared for was the benevolence, specifically, Law couldn't wrap his head on the part where Luffy's actions end up unintentionally helping a lot of people. To witness the juxtaposition of a pirate liberating countries to repay a simple favor for someone who happened to give him food, it's insane.

"I remember writing this one when there was a storm going on. They get like mad storms over there [in New York], like, apocalyptic. I’m always trying to think of different interesting ways to like describe somebody but compliment them too. So in that one, I like the idea that she’s not even a thunderstorm, she’s more than one. I quite like the fact she’s plural. ‘Thunderstorms’ meaning just, y’know, awesome!"

R-Doctor headcanons !!

[Firstly prefacing that 3D's Space Factory is undeniably canon. The location's description doesn't refer to R-Doctor by name, but it's clearly shown that the character is mass produced. This post will be split into 2 categories. Collective R-Doctors and the Individual.]

R-Doctors as a collective R-Doctors aren't programmed to have emotion or thoughts of their own, only to follow orders from Doctor or whoever he whitelists.

They can transform their arms into actual hands, but they are typically the funnels/cannons for work first and foremost. The canonical arms function as both of those. They cannot transform their feet.

Their insides are extremely hollow. This is to store things they find on expeditions to bring back to the Space Factory but also contains compartments to carry their bombs and other arsenals.

All R-Doctors have their own ID with newer ones having larger numbers. (Example: R-D-839). Everyone calls the sentient individual by the name Uta.

The playable R-Doctor who I believe is an individual Uta had spent so long around living monkeys that it slowly formed a mind and thoughts of its own. It still somewhat acts on its programming but not as much as it used to.

It is not the only R-Doctor exploring earth. Many of them have visited the islands to learn about it despite the fact that the Space Factory has no brainchild behind it anymore.

Most R-Doctors don't freeze up often, as this is a fault in Uta's software specifically. It once got caught in a horrible accident which damaged its mouth area, so it wears a bandana.

It naturally leans towards hanging around Doctor ofc, but has taken a particular liking to Palette and follows her around at times. Palette is also the one who came up its name.

It is very untrusting of A-Baby but can't put its finger on why.

It is also curious about F-Gongon as he is also mechanical to some extent, but F-Gongon keeps pushing it away.

27. What was the last book/movie that really impressed you?

NAILS AND EYES BY KAORI FUJINO. Short, not at all sweet, and excellent. It was published by Pushkin and it's basically a novella with two short stories tacked on at the end. The ending of the novella I reread maybe 4 times just to fully absorb it and the second short story I have been thinking about it for the past two days. Japanese female writers have been putting out some of the best surrealist/body horror fiction on the market for the last ~15 years and we're hitting a translation boom and finally getting the really good stuff. Nails and Eyes, Convenience Store Woman, and The Woman in the Purple Skirt were all Akutagawa Prize winners from the past decade. When Haneko Takayama hits the English langauge market it's over for you hoes

#ask game #I'm very out of touch with Japanese literature but I recommend MONKEY as a publication and Hiroko Oyamada's The Factory was meh #Yoko Ogawa on the other hand. HOLY FUCK.

also replaying monkollywood and realising these are the monkeys that isabel was referring to in chapter 3 and that they're all hyperintelligent because they evolved thanks to the iscolated time bubble is such a cool detail. i think the humans you find in the first train carts are meant to be monkeys that evolved 'too far' and so started to resemble humans aka are obsessed with screentime now and stupidier for it. a bit on the nose but i think its funny lol. my first theory was much scarier so i'll take a 'tv is rotting your brains' joke over that any day
