Review: Money Stories from Malaysians Volume 1
Title: Money Stories from Malaysians Volume 1 Author: Various Genre: Fiction, non-fiction Format: Paperback, ebook, 93 pages Publisher: Suraya Zainudin Communications Pricing: RM29.90 (book, postage), RM9.90 (ebook) Available at: https://ringgitohringgit.com/product-category/money-stories-from-malaysians/ Reviewer: Leon Wing
I wasn’t sure what to expect reviewing an anthology of short stories on the theme of money. Which is what Malaysian money blogger Suraya Zainudin put together: ten fiction and nonfiction stories. Don’t expect writings from money experts though. Some stories cover personal finance, but written with a twist—or rather, under a slew of genre, from the usual everyday stuff about how to manage your ringgit, to fantasy.
In “Look out for Naila, world!”, Jouhari Ali tells us how his daughter taught him about money. The story begins very early in her babyhood, when her mother called it a day with married life and left the father with the daughter and a low rent house. He bought an apartment later as she grew up a precocious little lady. They did father and daughter things together, like fishing. All well and good, but, again, what has all this got to do with money? Well, read further, instead of me revealing anything more.
“In Memoriam” by N. T. Cloever starts off with a doctor’s log in some distant future. By this, you know you’re in a fictional world. But a setting about money? You wouldn’t guess it if this piece appeared in some fantasy magazine, would you, when the log record tells us about some experiment involving growth hormones? We come upon an illustration of a girl holding an umbrella over a beggar. The patches on his frayed clothes don’t look very futuristic. The doctor is at Central Station, and the question on her mind is “What is wealth without memory? When in the distant future, memory is a commodity and a currency, what happens if you sell your memories for necessities like food? This piece reeks of Black Mirror, a scifi serial.
The longest piece, “Necessary Expense” by Sarah Anne, is another fantasy. It swills with a merman and some flying creature couple. Money is tight and they have to deal with monetary issues and expenditures, like water for the merman, fixing the tank, and broken furniture from flying indoors. Things are so dire that the flying female has to resort to selling some of her feathers, and then some.
I gather “Cigarettes” by Eu Leon is a true tale, about the expenses of smoking. The first instance rather makes one crinkle the nose, not because of the smoke. Though the writer doesn’t go all graphic on the act of “passing motion”, the mere narration is enough, even though it is tempered with a bit of humour about the smoke masking the even worse smells of durian and petai. Next, we read about other expenses concomitant with cigarettes: meals, traffic jams, tea drinking with friends, boredom, stress, break times, awkwardness, customers who smoke. Does the writer finally kick this bad habit at the end? Read the piece yourself to find out.
“An APP-xpensive Mistake” by Sumi S recounts an incident the writer doesn’t want to relive. It began the day her mother told her to withdraw the allowance her father banked into her account. She found it short by RM800—her brother had bought games for his iPad. The story goes on recounting how to get back the money, to keep calm, and to deal with customer service.
In “Condo” by Aina Izzah, we meet Farrah getting her hands dirty in a game show called “Condo”. The premise is she and other players compete for money, and rise up the condo for the final prize of RM1 million and a penthouse. The initial levels of the game seem simple enough, requiring her to eat, drink and fast. But one challenge has her digging into the bowels of a pig. She forwent a job interview for the chance to win big money. But was the sacrifice worth it? Besides, she has to make yet other sacrifices while playing the game—and also an “investment”.
“Managing Finances while Doing a PhD” by Juntaki is a puzzler. It begins sedately, elucidating the educational mysteries of doing a PhD. The sentences feel like they belong to a thesis, rather than a short story or a nonfiction. Take phrases like “processes involved in such a tremendous commitment may be content with …”, “affecting an individual’s ability to maintain stability financially…”. In this vein, the writer proceeds to “elaborate how I was able to effectively manage my finances during my phD.” I read on to see if all this seriousness is perpetuated with tongue in cheek. But, no, the writer is giving the reader a detailed rundown in all seriousness. If you’re interested in doing a PhD and want to know the costs involved, you’ll enjoy this piece.
The title “My Family’s Experience with Ponzi Scheme” leaves one without any doubt about the angle of the piece by Jonathan Kam. Like the previous story about going for a PhD, it also offers a lesson. The writer warns the reader about buying a membership and expecting to receive a share of other members’ money.
In “How Much is a Mother’s Job Worth?”, writer Chan Ai Sin counts the ways. Right from the start, she tells us being a mother “pays nothing, allocates no day off, and accepts no resignation no matter how tough the going gets”. She even includes a chart listing hourly rates of the various tasks a mother takes on. With humour, she tells us her experiences as milk producer, chef and nutritionist, staff nurse, and a couple of other positions.
“For the Greater Good” by Suraya tells a story of how a government scheme to give citizens a living wage became a bane to employers and a boon to employees. It destroyed companies like Rina’s when employees quit over the good news of this Universal Basic Income. No matter the direness of the story, I couldn’t help grinning, especially reading about how certain factions of people were against this UBI. Rina attended a talk and inadvertently got arrested for attempting to jeopardise government plans. I suspect the writer is hinting how the type of benefit schemes UK offers the unemployed could turn Malaysia into a totalitarian state.
These days when Malaysian writings in English hardly attract local readership, an anthology like this is not only off the beaten track of usual genres like literary, noir and horror, it is welcome simply for its monetary theme.
Suraya Zainudin is a freelance writer and an independent communications consultant specialising in online content creation and management. She is also the founder of Ringgit Oh Ringgit website, where she writes about her lifelong obsession with personal finance and how she invests, spends, earns and saves money.

Hey I got a story published!
https://ringgitohringgit.com/preorder-money-stories-from-malaysians-volume-1/
I got a story out in a local anthology! e-books are already good to go, and physicals ship mid-March :) all are independently produced, so each sale counts! when people mention finance books, many would think ‘oh, a ledger, some more inapplicable advice, or yuck’ :P but these financial tales take the ‘story’ part quite literally :D Mine revolves around a merman and a harpy couple and how they sell parts of themselves for financial balance. ಠ ∩ ಠ щ(ºДºщ) Yes. hahaha I prefer to write normal people doing abnormal things, or abnormal people doing normal things. ʕ•ᴥ•ʔ

Celebrate in a different way...
Hari Raya is just around the corner. In past years, this whole place would be a hive of activity as Muslims across the nation were prepared to celebrate the big day. Malls would be packed to the brim with businesses rushing out last-minute promotions to lure customers. But the atmosphere this year is very much different. The coronavirus has cast a long shadow over the entire planet. MCO has been implemented in this country since March 18 to bring the virus to check. Although we have seen some positive results during the past two months and have successfully flattened the curve, we still see double-digit numbers of daily new positive cases in recent weeks. This shows that the coronavirus threats are still very much alive and we have yet to claim success in our hard-fought battle against the virus. Both the government and the people must not let down their guard despite the festive celebrations, lest all our previous efforts go in vain. Hari Raya is the most important festive season for Muslims in this country. It is an occasion friends and family members come together and share the joy together. It has become a tradition for Malaysians to go back to their hometowns during the festive season to celebrate with their families, but things are different this year. Even if the government has earlier announced that cross-state travels would be banned during the festive season, many still take chances trying to drive across state borders to see their families.
On Tuesday, the police stopped a total of 3,212 private vehicles trying to make the cross-state journeys. On Wednesday, 2,412 vehicles were ordered to turn back. In Kuantan police district, as many as 1,300 people were queuing up at the district police headquarters to apply for a permit to go back to their hometowns, while the Johor police revealed earlier between 1,000 and 1,500 cross-state applications were received each day, 70% for Raya celebration. We can understand the desire of Muslims to go back to their hometowns to celebrate with their families. Nevertheless, threats from the coronavirus have not subsided yet and mass interstate travels will only exacerbate the situation. Lately a pregnant woman from Ampang, Selangor returning to Kelantan awaiting delivery was diagnosed with COVID-19, and this speaks volumes of the risks of interstate travels. In the latest development, the government has decided to ban all people from traveling back to their hometowns save for emergency. While many Malaysians will feel disappointed with this decision, we should understand the government's intention of containing the outbreak and safeguarding the health of everyone. In the face of the virus outbreak, it is imperative that Malaysians learn to adapt to the new normal ways of life and celebrate Raya and other festive seasons in a different approach. Although we are not able to go back to our hometowns to see our family members and friends as a consequence of the outbreak and MCO, we can always stay in touch with them by way of communication devices or video-conferencing apps to convey our festive greetings. Additionally, we must always keep in mind social distancing rules while visiting our families and friends within the same state. Perhaps we are going to celebrate in a very different way this year, the inherent meanings of festive celebration remain much the same, and the festive season is still impregnated with joy, warmth and love, as it always is. - Sin Chew Daily

QNet: Can’t Shake the Shadow of Corruption and Fraud [Review]
An online search reveals a history of negative press and accusations of fraudulent business practices.
But QNet has weathered it all. Somehow, despite it all, they’re still in business and apparently going strong.
QNet (formerly GoldQuest and QuestNet) is a multi-level marketing company founded in 1998 and based in Asia that sells mostly health and wellness goods.
Throughout its history, QNet has expanded its product line and acquired several small companies. It now has a presence in roughly a dozen different countries throughout Asia and Africa, and claims to have over one million independent distributors.
FAQ
1. What does QNet sell? QNet sells a variety of products including energy, weight management, nutrition, personal care, home care, and fashion accessories.
2. What are QNet’s most popular products? QNet’s energy products are their most popular.
3. How much does it cost to join QNet? To become a QNet independent representative, you must pay an Annual IRship Fee. Then, according to QNet, you’ve incorporated in their company and have a valid business that can be inherited.
4. Is QNet a scam? No. QNet has been deemed a pyramid scheme and a fraud by many countries, and in 2016, it was denied membership in the Federation of Direct Selling Association because, according to that organization, they practice disguised money circulation. [1] But in 2017, India MLM Research deemed Qnet a legit MLM company. [2]
5. What is QNet’s BBB rating? A+
6. How long has QNet been in business? Since 1998. Throughout the years, its name has changed, but the basic business has remained the same. Originally called GoldQuest, then QuestNet, it became known as QNet in 2010.

So should you hop on board?
Product-wise this company might be legit, but if you’re just interested in the business opportunity, there are better options out there…

Either way, here’s the full review on QNet.
Products
The type of products sold by QNet has evolved throughout its history. It started off selling gold coins then transitioned to being a travel company. For the past decade, the company has focused on selling health and nutrition products, while at the same time expanding to include a variety of products that fit into the following categories:
Energy – Two lines of new-age accessories designed to enhance the energy and performance of athletes.
Nutrition – A large line of products each with a specific health benefit.
Personal Care – A pair of products geared towards cleansing and rejuvenating skin.
Home Care – At the moment, a water purifier is the only product in this line.
Luxury & Collectibles – Includes a line of watches, pendants, and other types of jewelry.
Fashion Accessories – A gaudy line of jewelry.
Holidays – Travel packages to a variety of locations.
Compensation Plan
Despite its ever-changing products line, QNet has always relied on its independent representatives to sell its products. The company has made recent changes to its compensation plan, which follows a binary model, to increase commissions and enhance rewards for distributors. The company offers eight ways for distributors to make money:
Retail Profit
Early Payout
Repeat Sales Points
Dynamic Commission
First Purchase Profit
Rank Advancement Bonus
Travel Incentives
Year-Round Rewards
Here are some pros about QNet:
The biggest thing that QNet has going for it is the company’s long line of partnerships and distribution deals with high-profile organizations and major events that have helped increase QNet’s notoriety and reputation.
The company has long been associated with major sporting events, giving it a vast amount of global exposure. Back when the company was in the business of selling gold coins, it was the official coin distributor for both the 2000 Olympics in Sidney and the 2002 FIFA World Cup, which was co-hosted by Japan and South Korea. QNet was also a distributor during the 2004 Olympics in Athens and the 2008 Olympics in Beijing. It goes without saying that sponsoring such high-profile, not to mention global, athletic events does wonders for the brand recognition of a company, and that was certainly the case with QNet.
The company has gone on to sponsor a Malaysian motor racing team, a Formula-1 racing team, the Asian Football Confederation, and Manchester City, one of the largest football clubs in Europe. Again, these partnerships have done wonders for QNet’s brand recognition and helped to make it a global company with a footprint well beyond Asia.
QNet also offers customers an intriguing product line that has expanded and changed throughout the company’s history, showcasing the company’s ability to evolve and change with the times. Part of QNet’s product expansion is related to its ability to acquire smaller companies, adopting part of their product lines, which speaks to QNet’s ability to grow and create new opportunities for itself and its distributors.
Here are some cons about QNet:
QNet has certainly experienced a lot of growth and success throughout its history, but its past is also littered with serious issues. For starters, the company has been banned from operating in several countries. In 2003, QNet was banned from Nepal under allegations of fraud. In 2005, it was banned from Sri Lanka after being accused of causing millions of dollars to leave the country. Iran also banned the company from operating in 2005 after officials found evidence that it cost the country a billion dollars. Sudan also banned the company in 2009 due to poor product quality. In 2010, Saudi Arabia became the latest country to send QNet into exile after accusing the company of theft and fraud.
It’s not uncommon for MLM companies to get into a little bit of trouble, but being banished from a handful of countries is a feat few companies in any industry have been able to reach, which is obviously a huge red flag. These banishments have gone hand-in-hand with accusations from a number of sources that QNet runs a pyramid scheme (see: Wealthy Affiliate). Even countries that have not banned QNet from operating within its borders like India, Indonesia, and Egypt have accused the company of running a pyramid scheme. QNet has done its best to sidestep these accusations, but they have been too widespread to ignore.
It’s not just national governments that seem to have a problem with QNet, as a majority of the online reviews of the company paint an ugly picture. A multitude of message boards and online reviews, which granted should always be taken with a grain of salt, paint QNet in the worst light possible, with some of the stories being downright horrifying.
There are a fair amount of positive reviews, but many of them give off the impression of being fraudulently manufactured by the company itself. Many read like someone following an outline with certain phrases to use and bullet points to mention. Even if they are legitimate and honest reviews of the company, there aren’t enough to drown out the large volume of bad reviews.
Recap
It’s somewhat befuddling how QNet has managed to both stay in business for so many years and score such high-profile sponsorships considering the exorbitant amount of issues the company has had to deal with throughout its history.
The banishment from a handful of countries and countless accusations of orchestrating a pyramid scheme are overwhelmingly negative from a public relations standpoint. The company has done well to create an intriguing line of products and establish global brand recognition, but those appear to be a façade hiding a dark side.
All things considered, QNet is a company to avoid like the plague. There are not nearly enough positives about QNet to outweigh all of the negatives, and forming a partnership with the company carries far too much risk for any reasonable person.
Look, I’ve been involved with network marketing for over ten years so I know what to look for when you consider a new opportunity.
After reviewing 200+ business opportunities and systems out there, here is the one I would recommend:

1. Extensions Are A Girls Best Friend Are you thinking about wearing Hair extensions this summer but not sure if it is worth the cost?
We are here to help you out along the way in making your decision. Well, there are obvious reasons why wearing this style will be great for the summertime mainly because your curls will be out of harm’s way from chlorine waters and hot sun rays.
Buying synthetic weave or braids can cause more damage than good at times, if an installation is too tight, then this can bring about tension to your scalp and lead to hair loss. If you install individuals too close to the nape, then that can result in your edges and baby hair falling out. There are fewer cons of wearing extensions for the summer than there is any other hairstyle, especially if you get them done correctly.
Always remember that getting extensions are just as great of a protective style as getting individual braids or faux locs, but the catch is that weave is a little more versatile and can look exactly like your real hair.
Don’t be mistaken because salt water, chlorine, and the sun can damage your natural soft hair and extensions as well, so in the process of wearing this beautiful style, you will have to know the different ways to take care of them so that it can last you all summer long.
Let’s get into the top reasons why every woman should be wearing hair extensions this summer season!
2.They’re Great For Long Trips
Since it is summertime, that means you will be booking flights, if its anywhere within the united states you do not want to deal with the hassles of styling your hair every morning.
If you plan to go somewhere overseas or near an ocean or beach, then you don’t have to stress about getting your natural curls wet with extensions. Picking the perfect vacation hairstyle can be just as fun as choosing the destination you’re going. Braids are fun don’t get me wrong but imagine rocking bundles of Brazilian or Malaysian hair on a tropical island drinking out of a coconut.
If you’re not a big fan of sew-ins even getting clip-in extensions are great for vacation, if you want to give your scalp a break a let those curls loose and free you can. And on the other hand, if you plan on taking a night out on the town, you can easily clip in your extensions for length and volume.
A quick tip to take care of your extensions if you do plan on coming into contact with salt water is to invest in an excellent leave-in conditioner. Leave-in products help keep your extensions from tangling or drying out. Weave has a way of knotting up a lot easier than your natural hair, so purchasing the right products can be a lifesaver in the end.
Also, try not to scrub or bunch the hair up its best to use a wide tooth comb whenever you are trying to detangle hair. Check out our site for a variety of curl patterns and Grade A quality hair extensions that is sure to make you stand out on your vacation.
3.Hair Growth
If your someone who wants to know why their hair won’t grow past a certain length it could be due to a multiple of reasons.
It seems that no matter how patient you are, YouTube videos you watch, or products you buy that your curls are stuck at a certain length. If this sounds like something far too familiar, you should invest in getting some hair extensions for the summer!
To wear your Human Hair Weave, the proper way it will involve you braiding, twisting, or cornrowing down your natural tresses; this is the first step in the growth process because it will gently pull on the follicles on your scalp. No matter what style you choose you must remember the real reason hair grows is if you are moisturizing it every other day and develop healthy hair care routines.
Things you want to avoid is excessively combing, brushing, and straitening your natural curls, you expect growth to happen sometimes you must learn that less is more, and leaving the hair alone will help in the process. Extensions cover up your locks for the most part, and therefore you will see more growth after you take this protective hairstyle out.
Lastly, since your roots have the extensions over them like a shield, it’s a lot harder for natural elements like the sun, chlorine, and other things to penetrate and absorb into the hair follicles.
So, if you feel like you’ve tried everything to grow out your locks, I would say give extensions a go and try your best to leave those hands out of your curls as much as possible.
4. Sweatproof
For most of us during the summer who want to get a few workouts in, then extensions are perfect for your active summer lifestyle.
When temperatures get warm, this typically brings about higher humidity which means that is inevitable that you will be working up a sweat. If you’re anything like me, all it takes is just two steps outside, and you’ll already see droplets of your sweat dripping down your neck and back.
If you are a habitual exerciser, then your pores and sweat glands will be more open than the rest of us. Well, now you are in luck because most hair extensions can remain unharmed and have no adverse effects when it comes to sweat. What’s even more significant is that some extensions like tape-ins are also waterproof, so there will be no need to avoid the water.
You can workout at the pool, beach, or even go for a quick jog in the rain without looking like a maniac. Trust me extensions can stand the test of time and will somehow remain its luster, shine, and volume through those long summer nights and hot early mornings.
If you’re tired of sweating out your edges this summer, then invest in some grade A quality hair weave.
5. Lightweight
Extensions are perfect for the summer time due to how light and airy they feel.
It seems like whenever the weather starts to warm up, everyone pulls out the kanekalon hair and gets individual braids or twists. But the weight of getting braids no matter how big or small the style is they can still get annoying. And on top of that can result in massive hair loss if you install them too tightly.
If you have clip-ins or hair extensions put in the right way, then they should lie flat and remove any excess bulk without giving yourself tension headaches. An African-American woman is more likely to deal with hair loss in the future because most of the hairstyles we try out are heavy and weigh down on our hair follicles.
Wearing extensions during the summer time is a lot more comfortable because they are not heavy, and your scalp will not feel even hotter due to the added sun. Heavy and fuller hairstyle is meant for the colder reasons, mainly because it’s so chilly outside you want all the warmth that you can get.
The density of your weave can also depend on the Grade, and quality type, typically Vietnamese and Peruvian hair can have a lighter mass than Brazilian or Indian extensions.
6.Natural looking
I know most of us when it comes down to picking out a hairstyle we want something that looks natural and blends in seamlessly with our Natural hair.
Most extensions are almost invisible when you install them into your hair, and they are also strong, durable, and non-damaging to your roots. If you invest in tape-in extensions, they will lay flat on to your scalp and have everyone thinking that this is the hair growing out of your head.
If you are someone who likes to style their hair during the summer, you don’t want anyone to see your tracks with the styles you choose. This con is another reason clip-ins would be the best bet when it comes down to the summer because if you happen to get wet you put your hair up into a ponytail and your extensions will be undetectable.
If you buy 100% human hair, then, of course, it has no choice but to look natural on your head. Partial sew-ins are also a go-to look when you want a style that is close to what you would typically wear and your hair texture.
The moral of the story is that extensions are the bomb when you want tracks that are almost invisible and more suitable hairstyle for the summer.
7. Reusable One of the main reasons we want you all to try out extensions for the summer is because you can reuse them for the later months to come.
Good quality weave can last up to a year if you take care of them and this will save you tons of money in the long run. You can reuse tape-ins up to three times each. All you will need is a coconut oil product or cream to remove them safely.
The use of coconut oil will increase growth and the overall health of your tresses. When you use synthetic hair or get braids, faux locs, or twists that’s the end. Once they get old, too wet, or damaged, you can not reuse them. The pros of using tape-ins or clip-ins are that they are the best reusable extensions and the fastest method of the application.
There is no heat or tools needed or required for an install, so you can even put them in yourself, making it an accessible style for the summer.

UMNO/PAS Will Continue Blackmailing Muhyiddin, Including To Drop All Criminal Charges On Najib n Zahid...
Prime Minister Muhyiddin Yassin has appointed Tiong King Sing as the Special Envoy to China with ministerial rank. Effectively, the already bloated 70 ministries Cabinet is now consisting of an eye-popping 72 ministers, including the recent promotion of Hadi Awang as Special Envoy to the Middle East (despite Saudi Arabia still considers Mr. Hadi as a “terrorist”). However, unlike Hadi, whose Islamist party PAS has in its possession of 18 seats in the Parliament, Mr. Tiong’s Progressive Democratic Party has only 2 seats. Exactly how could a leader of a party with only 2 Member of Parliaments be given a ministerial position? Tiong had also humiliated PM Muhyiddin when he turned down his initial appointment as Deputy National Unity Minister. While the name “Tiong King Sing” might sound unfamiliar, he was the big boss of Kuala Dimensi Sdn Bhd, the turnkey contractor of the PKFZ (Port Klang Free Zone) project. Yes, Tiong King Sing was the same man popularly known within the circle of MCA as the “twin brother” of Wee Ka Siong (current MCA president, whose 47% in Hijau Sekitar Sdn Bhd was a sub-contractor of PKFZ). Mr. Tiong, also known as the Mafia Bintulu, became a billionaire when he sold his Kuala Dimensi’s 1,000 acres (4.0 km2) of Pulau Indah land to Port Klang Authority for a cool RM1.8 billion, the same land he had bought for only RM95 million, thanks to his connection with Mr. Wee. The PKFZ soon exploded into a RM12 billion scandal due to cost overruns and financial irregularities. The PKFZ scandal was so explosive and toxic back in 2008-09 that even the police during the era of corrupt Barisan Nasional regime had to freeze luxury cars, lands, a Gulfstream IV jet aircraft and a Learjet 60 aircraft belonging to Mr. Tiong under the Anti-Money Laundering Act. Of course, Tiong King Sing didn’t go to jail, let alone Wee Ka Siong. Yet, the simple fact that PM Muhyiddin had to “kowtow” to a corrupt mafia boss like Tiong speaks volumes about what a weak leader he is. The racist “Malay first” Muhyiddin is not only being bullied by a rich mafia boss, but is also constantly pushed around like a prostitute by racist, extremist and corrupt politicians of the same ethnicity – UMNO and PAS Malays.
Not satisfied with the appointment of their boss – PAS president Hadi Awang as Special Envoy to the Middle East – the Islamist party took the opportunity, while the country is in the middle of Coronavirus pandemic, to demand for all its MPs (Members of Parliament) who currently do not hold positions in government to be made heads of GLCs (government linked companies). Not to be outdone, UMNO president Zahid Hamidi had similarly pressed for more positions when his letter dated April 16 was leaked. Mr. Zahid has demanded that the prime minister appoints four Sabah UMNO leaders (Bung Moktar Radin, Mohamad Alamin, Rahman Dahlan and Yakubah Khan) to government positions not only at federal but also at the state level. In fact, Zahid (who himself faces record 87 criminal charges) has openly demanded that Sabah UMNO chairman Bung Moktar be appointed as Sabah Federal Development chairman, despite the former Felcra chairman Bung Moktar and his wife Zizie Izette are being charged for taking bribes in a RM150 million investment in Public Mutual unit trust products. Rahman Dahlan, one of the loudest cheerleaders of former PM Najib Razak’s 1MDB scandal, should be made a senator, said the despicable Zahid in his letter. Thereafter, PM Muhyiddin was told to appoint Mohamad Alamin as a deputy minister while Yakubah Khan be given the post of Labuan Port Board chairman. But the blackmail has just begun. It’s most likely that not-so-clever Zahid has consulted his former boss Najib in what appears to be an evil and wicked plan to not only intimidate and bully the weak backdoor prime minister, but also to test how much UMNO could push the weak Muhyiddin for more concessions. The letter was deliberately leaked to humiliate the Malaysian leader, knowing very well that he would be powerless to retaliate. While UMNO has nothing to lose, the same cannot be said about Bersatu. The simpleton Muhyiddin thought he was the biggest winner after he betrayed his own Pakatan Harapan government and formed a backdoor Perikatan Nasional government with oppositions UMNO and PAS. He thought he could control his new allies the same way Mahathir had controlled DAP and PKR. If Muhyiddin refuses to grant the wishes of ally PAS, he would lose power if the extremist Islamist party pulls out. If Muhyiddin refuses to give whatever ally UMNO wants, he would lose power if the racist and corrupt party pulls out. If the prime minister is so spineless as to obediently appoint a corrupt leader like Bung Moktar, then it’s a jackpot for both Zahid and Najib.
Yes, the letter of demand from Zahid was to test the water. If the prime minister could be bullied to the extent of appointing even a small fry like Bung Moktar, then the conclusion is that the same PM Muhyiddin can be forced to pervert and pressure the judicial system to free crooks like Zahid Hamidi and Najib Razak of all charges related to corruption, money laundering and criminal breach of trust (CBT). With razor-thin 114 MPs (112 minimum seats are required to form a simple majority government in the 222-seat Parliament) supporting the backdoor government, the traitor and treacherous Muhyiddin is – comically – at the mercy of UMNO-led Barisan Nasional’s 42 MPs (UMNO’s 39, MCA’s 2 and MIC’s 1), PAS (18 MPs) and Sarawak-based GPS (18 MPs) to hold on to power. UMNO and PAS do not mind at all if Muhyiddin threatens to dissolve the Parliament and calls for a snap election. As a matter of fact, UMNO and PAS are betting every dollar they have that the president of Bersatu (who has less than 36 MPs after Mahathir and some refused to align to him) does not have the balls to go for a general election. For now, UMNO and PAS are happily riding Muhyiddin as if he was like a donkey, whipping the idiot whenever they want power and projects. When the day of general elections finally comes, both parties will kick away Muhyiddin and whatever is left of his Perikatan Nasional government, and split the seats to be contested between UMNO and PAS only. But it’s one thing to demand for government positions so that projects and contracts could be secured to enrich families and cronies. It’s another thing altogether for the UMNO and PAS leaders to break the laws and get away with it. Despite less than 2 months, the people have seen how 2 laws are being practised by Muhyiddin government – 1 set of law for ordinary people while another for VVIPs. Ever since the MCO (movement control order) was declared in March 18, the authorities have arrested, fined or jailed at least 15,924 people for flouting the government’s lockdown. Some of them are still kept in jail while awaiting their trial and others fined up to RM1,000. Even those attending funerals have been arrested and slapped with fines without sympathy whatsoever. However, when photos emerged of two deputy ministers and one Menteri Besar (Chief Minister) meeting people in three separate functions while obviously failing to follow the lockdown and social distancing rules, people were incredibly furious over the police inaction – dragging their feet on whether to arrest the VIPs aligned to Muhyiddin government.
In Perak, Deputy Health Minister Noor Azmi Ghazali and fellow Perak executive councillor Razman Zakaria were pictured sitting down to lunch with some 20 people. In another photo, Deputy Development Minister Abdul Rahman Mohamad happily cut a cake while closely surrounded by his supporters in Pahang. Had this been done by ordinary folks, they would have been arrested and thrown into prison. Then, there was the PAS warlord, Terengganu Menteri Besar Ahmad Samsuri Mokhtar, who proudly posted on Twitter of him having lunch with former Menteri Besar Ahmad Said in the latter’s home. Under the “Stay at home” restrictive orders, no mass gatherings are allowed, and only one family member is allowed to go out to buy groceries, medicines or food. So, does that mean ordinary people can travel to visit their friend for lunch since the Terengganu Chief Minister has set an example? Senior Minister Ismail Sabri Yaakob, who is also the defence minister, has previously warned that MCO violators would be arrested under the third phase of the MCO (from April 15 – 28) instead of just being slapped with RM1,000 fines. For obvious reason, the police has had only dared to record statements as part of their so-called investigations into the government VIPs’ breach of the law. Even the supposedly “clean and courageous” IGP (Inspector General of Police) Abdul Hamid Bador is as quiet as a church mouse when the big guns linked to Muhyiddin backdoor government deliberately broke the laws. It would take public uproar for Perak EXCO Razman and Terengganu Chief Minister Ahmad Samsuri to apologise for their actions, while Deputy Health Minister Noor Azmi deleted the photos on his Facebook account. But the fact that they haven’t been arrested and charged, let alone handcuffed, unlike many Malaysians who have flouted the MCO, shows the pathetic double standards practised. Can ordinary Malaysians, upon being caught by the police for flouting the lockdown, quickly apologise and be forgiven by the authorities without the threat of handcuff, remand and imprison? Turtle egg Senior MInister Ismail Sabri Yaakob claimed that no one is above the law. Yet, none of the VIPs are dealt accordingly. The coward PM Muhyiddin, as usual, is hiding while keeping his mouth shut. Heck, even Nurul Hidayah, the eldest daughter of disgraced Zahid Hamidi didn’t care about breaking the MCO law when she posted photographs about her meeting with Deputy Environment and Water Minister Ahmad Masrizal Muhammad together with her husband. When a netizen questioned Nurul, she arrogantly challenged the critic to report to the police – suggesting that her father is now more powerful than PM Muhyiddin. - FT
