So found this girl on my broom while sweeping one day. Decided to keep her because I had already picked up two juvenile spiders that I thought could be black widows (they were not). Y/n wasn’t quite sure if she believed what Jeno had told her. It seemed a little too strange that Johnny had supposedly bought her a boba… Had he talked to Leeteuk about it? Impossible. Good clean fun

This week I have mostly been watching Young Jedi Adventures.

Yes it’s a show aimed at little kids, but who doesn’t like an aggressively cute and cheerful cartoon from time to time?

It’s all bright colours, BIG eyes, enthusiastic hugs, and wholesome messages about friendship, working together and, of course, learning to use the force.

But mostly about friendship and hugging, because kids show.

And because it’s set in the High Republic era it’s able to be happy and light and carefree because we’re operating far from the Bad Times lurking waaaaay off down the timeline

In addition to occasional appearances from a younger Master Yoda than we’re used to seeing, we have Master Zia Zanna who oversees the temple on Tenoo the kids are based at and provides/allows the kids to head off on missions. And, of course, we have our heroic trio and their conveniently excellent, Han Solo-esque, pilot friend to provide them with transport for those missions

But Nash Durango isn’t just an excellent pilot and engineer with a droid sidekick, RJ-83, and a ship of her own. She also has two moms, mentioned both as ‘Mom and Momma’, and later as ‘my moms’

We have Kai (central), who we know is the True Hero of the show since people use his last name as well as his first one. (Nash is on the left there)

He’s accompanied by his fellow trainee of Pantoran origin, Lys (right), and Dee Bradley Baker with peets, aka Nubs the Pooba (below).

This is Star Wars so of course they’re both blue. Nothing says ‘galaxy far far away’ than things or people that are blue

And I’m living for the epic hero hair this show gives us, not just on the main 4 but on some of the supporting characters too. Behold the glory that sits atop that already fuzzy head. Impressive!

Lys’s wig definitely came from the finest of Naboo stylists, it barely ever moves and never has a hair out of place. The hair buns have levelled up majorly this time around.

Lys is a girl so she likes animals, Nubs looks like a bear so he likes nature, and Kai is the hero figure who plans to be a Master Jedi someday so he doesn’t need any secondary interests. Apparently.

The recurring ‘villains’ of the story are wannabe pirate Taborr val Dorn (who is in no way whatsoever a be-helmeted young Boba Fett stand in) and his gang who show up to try to steal anything not nailed down. Taborr leads his gang with meanness and bossy tyranny, and a total lack of success because our heroes always win the day – as is right and proper!

His gang consists of droid EB-3, and Pord, who’s the cutest little Gamorrean you ever did see (it isn’t stated that they’re a girl but they have killer mascara and a female VA so it’s likely). They’re my personal favourite.

The show gets bonus points for including a tooka kitten, however briefly

Verdict: Very cute, maybe too much so for some viewers, but entertaining as long as you accept that it’s aimed at the Disney Junior demographic

History/Background:

Saris comes from a long line of Mandalorians, the Tanda Clan has been in the creed for generations, and she has ten very protective brothers- five older, five younger (five of them are adopted foundlings).

She lived on a fiery volcanic planet in the Mandalore system with her family until she was 10 years old- when her parents trying to defend the village they lived in were killed by force users (unknown if they were Sith, Jedi, or something else). She and her brothers managed to escape to Nevarro, where they met and joined the covert there- which is also where Saris met 10 year old Din. They became friends, and by the time they were 17 and 18 they’d fallen in love. The night before they were to swear into the creed, they promised that they would wait for each other and get married as soon as they were old enough (20 yrs).

For the next few years, they teamed up for most Guild jobs, becoming a team to be reckoned with until they were known in the Bounty Hunting business as a unit and unstoppable team. Then they were married/took on the riddurok and have been a legendary bounty hunting team since.

Brief Personality: Uru is a very loud and confident guy, He often gives off a sense of superiority but it’s mostly an act to protect himself, He tends to act like he doesn’t care about anyone or anyone’s opinions but in reality he does, He also tends to make himself out to be a dumb bimbo when in reality he’s actually quite smart. He’s also a bit of a slut. Good for him, he deserves it.

Brief Backstory:

Uru was abandoned by his birth parents on the side of the road when he was around 5 or 6, he was picked up pretty quickly by his first set of.. “adoptive parents”.. “The Oracles of the Sun” were a religious cult based in Okutama, he was adopted by the two Leaders of the cult and raised as their own. Uru was seen as divine or a gift from the gods, due to his “unusual” looking appearance (His purple eyes, and blond hair.) little did they know he wasn’t magical, just a normal kid who happened to have some abnormal traits.. like.. most kids in the Okutama area..

But nonetheless he was treated as otherworldly. The only person in the cult who really treated him the same was his best friend, Atsu. Atsu was born on the same day as Uru and also was an orphan.. though he wasn’t as lucky as Uru to have any set of parents..

Him and Atsu use to play all day together with their toys creating stories about people from the outside world.. But as you can Imagine Uru’s life was not all sunshine and rainbows, he dealt with allot of abuse by the hands of his “parents”.. The cult used almost every type of abuse imaginable as a tactic of control.

Eventually, however, this caught up with them, and the Asahara’s were arrested, Uru was separated from Atsu for a time and out with another family.

This family was.. not much better.. They were the type to only have foster kids for the money that came with it, they expected nothing but perfection from him. Everything about him was controlled to the minuscule detail.

At home, it was abuse, at middle school it was bullying, He felt like he could never escape just the aching feeling he always had.

He fell in love with a boy in middle school, but even that turned out to be a sexually abusive mess..

So, finally had enough of everyone treating him like shit when he got to high school. He changed his entire appearance, dying his hair, getting new clothes, He was completely unrecognizable from his former self.

His friends finally got him away from his abusive home and he was able to move in with his then boyfriend Otoko. Which he eventually married.

Allow me to just assign songs to the Sakamakis (except Kino) I think summarise their trauma.

Ayato

We’re talking about the guy who in one route legitimately told his dad to his face “You failed me, fuck you, goodbye”.

Karlheinz 100% never cared for any of the Sakamakis. I strongly doubt he even actually cared for Christa and Subaru. The neglect and favouritism absolutely fucked with Ayato - and seeing the Mukamis who Karlheinz DOES show legitimate care for is just salt in the wound.

Ayato isn’t exactly weak, though. He for sure knows he’ll be alright, even after everything he survived.

Laito

Roasting Cordelia hours opened! The same way Karlheinz didn’t care about the Sakamakis, Cordelia gave exactly 0 shits about her sons as people. They were merely pawns in a game - and Ayato was the one she spent all her energy on in the hopes she could get Karlheinz to notice her again.

Laito was a momma’s boy and Cordelia took advantage of that. She convinced him she really cared, only to not be there to comfort him when he needed her the most. And if you play your cards right, he comes to fully understand just how little Cordelia cared. She just liked the fact he gave her attention.

Kanato

And we all thought Jinx’s abandonment issues were bad; at least Vi genuinely showed her time and time again that she loves Jinx enough to want her around no matter what. Cordelia couldn’t even do that much.

Kanato got the leftovers in terms of his mother’s love. Her focus was so primarily on Ayato and Laito that he basically went unnoticed. Yet, cause he was a child and did depend on her, he still did whatever he could to get her attention or approval. It’s why he still can’t part with her (he keeps her ashes in Teddy). He knows deep down she failed him and yet he can’t let her go; cause if he did, then he’d be alone. It’s why he has his wax dolls, why he convinces Yui to kill his brothers in one route. Cordelia planted into Kanato’s head that if your attention isn’t solely on him then you don’t care.

Shu

It wasn’t just Beatrice who hurt Shu. That said, she was the biggest bully to him. Shaming his natural likes and desires, playing favourites with him, putting him on such a high pedestal that if he fell he’d break his neck. Nothing he did was good enough for her, even when he followed her instructions to the letter. Any wonder he’s so apathetic now?

And then there’s Reiji. He was as much a victim too, but he took his rage and jealousy out on the wrong person. He punished Shu for his own insecurities, only further creating the apathetic person he is today.

Reiji

Beatrice favoured Shu and as such, left Reiji to basically fend for himself. He was a hardworking, dedicated and determined child. He was studious, disciplined, everything she wanted Shu to be - but because he wasn’t Shu, that didn’t matter.

Shu was the oldest, the heir, the key to Beatrice getting whatever it was she wanted. She and Cordelia have that in common. Unlike Laito or Kanato though, Reiji always knew it was unfair. He did hurt Shu in act of jealous rage, but given he later comes to regret it in one of his routes, it’s fair to say he knows deep down it wasn’t worth it.

Subaru

Mental illness is a thing and people with it deserve some grace. Christa suffered and I doubt being alone in a tower was any help. That said; mental illness is not an excuse for what she did to Subaru. Yes, he was the result of incest (and perhaps sexual assault) - was her trauma valid? Absolutely. Was it Subaru’s fault? Absolutely not.

Subaru never asked to be brought into this world. Subaru never asked for his dad to abuse her. Subaru was an innocent bystander. And yet she often told him his mere existence was as bad as his father assaulting her, even going as far as trying to kill him. Then the next day she dotes on him. Talk about mixed signals.

Speaking of mixed signals; what the FUCK does Karlheinz mean that Subaru was his “favourite”? He never was around - he just left Subaru alone in the same house as Beatrice and Cordelia while KNOWING what they were capable of. His actions speak of the same level of indifference and apathy as towards the rest of his brothers. Now imagine Karlheinz dying, telling Subaru that he’s proud of him KNOWING DAMN WELL his brothers are not only going to remember that but that they might also give Subaru hell over it. If Subaru didn’t have a target on his back before, he did after that.

In conclusion; fuck the Sakamaki parents. Every single one of them.
