Today I’m sharing ‘Euclid’ by Sleep Token.

In my opinion, this is the most emotionally powerful Sleep Token song. This song has me in tears by the end almost every single time. It has everything I love about their songwriting.

Instrumentally ‘Euclid’ has it all. Starting out with a bright chiming piano melody and growing into the main vocal hook of the song. As it continues to grow the roomy, ambient percussion gives it such a triumphant, booming atmosphere. When the guitars and bass join in, it’s in a wonderful syncopated call and response with the vocals. Then after the break from that section, we get the classic metric modulation in II’s drumming. And when it finally reaches the end of the song THEY CALL BACK TO ‘THE NIGHT DOES NOT BELONG TO GOD’!!!!!!!!!!!! OH MY GOD. It literally never gets old, I love that call back so much.

Okay, lyrically, this song is really beautiful. I’m not too immersed in the lore of Sleep Token but I have heard that it’s meant to be like a new dawn for Vessel. Somewhat of a rebirth for his character. All I know is, it features some absolutely fantastic lines that I adore. For example there is “…Yet in reverse you are all my symmetry. A parallel I would lay my life on.” And then the next, “So if your wings won’t find you heaven, I will bring it down like an ancient bygone.” I don’t care if it’s corny, I think their lyrics are like poetry.

When Sleep Token performs ‘Euclid’ live it is a gut wrenching experience. Not that it’s unique to this song, but you can hear in Vessel’s voice how incredibly emotional the song is for him. By the end of the song he’s singing through tears and it’s just so moving. I pray that I’ll get to see it for myself one day.

So, ‘Euclid’ is just an unbelievable song full of conflicting emotions and a vibe that is unmatched by anything else I’ve heard. It’s made more powerful by the rest of the album, because it makes it feel like an even more rewarding conclusion.
