2020 Edith VS 2023 Edith

After seeing @stargazer-sims showed off original versions of Victor and Yuri to current I knew I had to do it with my OG baby Edith (She's an icon on my simblr) but I also grabbed her original hair so I can take the photo with my current reshade (The original pic is without reshade😨I'll put it below before the keep reading) also fun fact I picked the eye color first then did everything else.

So the black hair red steak is the first one and she is all maxis match expect for her tattoos and eyebrows because if you haven't heard the story she was actually original created for a Bachelorette Challenge for an old simmer's (they left) version Alexander Goth; I fell in love with her and she didn't get picked anyway probably because I didn't know about reshade or custom lighting so I took the photos in game with the in game lighting 💀 and I was/still a small simblr. plus this is back before the skin update (which I had to adjust her skin as she had a yellow undertone my older mutuals will remember how bad it was)

Now the Edith you guys know (I decided to use Serendipity Edith) is Maxis Mix leaning more towards alpha, she still has her maxis skin overlay along with an alpha one, she does have a nose mask too but I've never edited her features and not even her lips that's just what that red lipstick cc does (I doubled checked) and this is why I will only use pralinesims makeup.

No reshade, no lighting mod, no cas lighting and before the skin update.

When doing this though I thought I notice the body shape had changed slightly

I do know I actually changed her height of her breast because the original was way too high I think back then I forgot about them like the side profiles 🤣

but when I actually looked she's the same with the muscle and weight

Does anyone know why there is a technicolor fashion sequence in the middle of this otherwise black-and-white movie? Did Adrian refuse to work unless he got some free advertisement for his new ready-to-wear collection of Munchkin hats and insane sleeves?

I promise I'll get to the actual posts I promised eventually, but I started a new job this week and have been too swamped to actually type up thoughts :)

(If you'd like to watch the movie before voting, here's a link to watch for free. As I've mentioned before, this is a very fun movie if you like watching rich, toxic, privileged white ladies chew the scenery, but it's also a very white-centric movie. Some scenes are extremely problematic/triggering with how they treat women of color, including a downright cruel treatment of Butterfly McQueen's character in a racist scene that goes unquestioned by the movie as a whole. Just want to put that fair warning there.)

While exploring The Sims: Life Stories, The Sims 2 Beta Discord Server members discovered numerous debug objects and visual effects left over from early development stages. Below is a summary of the most notable findings, covering hidden visual effects, the functionality of debug objects, activation packages, and unlocking methods.

Hidden Visual Effects

Players found so-called "old hearts" and other visual effects through debug objects. These elements, originally created to test romantic animations and special effects, were either replaced or entirely removed in the final game. Additionally, some UI icons, such as an aspiration icon between Family and Fortune, were missing, suggesting that they were part of an earlier version but ultimately scrapped.

Debug Object Functionality

Many debug objects did not function as expected. For instance, the family relationship setter only worked partially, while objects like the fashion show tester displayed models (such as teddy bears) or effects that weren’t always visible in normal gameplay. Some objects may have been working "behind the scenes" through embedded BHAV scripts, which were designed for debugging and monitoring in tools like Edith.

Packages for Activating Debug Objects

Community members also discussed special packages meant to activate test objects. The TestInfluence.package was used to enable specific test effects, while debug.package activated other objects (such as seating or dinner room test objects). However, even with these packages, some objects remained invisible in the catalog or couldn’t be placed in-game, suggesting deeper integration issues in the final build.

Unlocking and Making Debug Objects Buyable

Beyond studying functionality and visual effects, players experimented with unlocking hidden objects. One participant shared that they exported OBJD resources and made these objects buyable. 1. Outer Wilds. You'll understand when you're older

2. Celeste. Amazingly fun platformer just polished enough that I don't feel a burning rage to smash my computer with each death. I only simply feel a rage, and my computer is left intact. Mods are really cool I've played almost 50. I have not gotten to strawberry jam yet

3. Stanley Parable Ultra Deluxe!! This game has inspired me to make so many fucking multiple ending cyoa games. Narrator is amazing, the batshit absurd ideas are so fucking good. It is the game for me

4. The Witness. Gameplay sucks big balls and the story is a joke but I think the puzzle is nice. And the world is neat. And the two combined is a cool

5. Slay The Princess. I love her

6. Jiggly Zone. I have made extensive plans to make a spiritual successor to this game. So I love this game that much. Sylvie makes amazing games

5. hey, I'm looking for a fic i read in the past couple of weeks pretty sure i read it the day it was published. It was pretty short, i think a one shot. Basically, it was post s2 e6 and Aziraphale like, goes into Crowley's dreams or something. Crowley cuddles him and Aziraphale thinks being in a dreams might lower your self-control or something. and at one point there's some dialoge that goes something like this: "You know why I left, don't you?" - Aziraphale "Yeah. The Sims 1 Edith Leak

Hey!

Some of y'all probably seen this already, but recently a debug build of TS1 with Edith included was released:

Edith is a program that runs alongside the game, allows you to modify and create objects and behaviors during runtime. Any changes you make to interactions, scripts, etc. Will take effect and save in realtime.

Tips under the cut.

Here are some tips, if you wish to check it out:

Set your PC registry to English (US) for Sims if you run into any issues like crashes. The game complains (crashes) sometimes with other languages due to the weirdness of the build. -Always run the game in windowed mode (-w) or Edith won’t work. Shortcuts are already included with command line arguments for window mode. -No CD patch required, this version of the game comes with no disc or SecuROM requirements. Only objects made for v1.0 will probably work (or at least anything that doesn't use newer SimAntics functions), so no EP items or mods made for later versions (unless you know if they’re compatible with v1.0 generally). You’ll need to load a lot to get started. Press “E” to launch Edith, press “M” for $1000 (hurray, no more rosebud!;!;!; required). You can try seeing what other keys work - "L" launches the lighting editor, for example. There's a lot of developer cheats which are enabled in this build that don't work (or don't exist) in the release version of the game. You can find a list of these cheats at https://tcrf.net/The_Sims_(Windows)/Developer_Tools or by using the help cheat. The most useful cheats are "debug_social on" (lets you decide whether an interaction is accepted or denied by another sim), "all_menus on" (lets you use all the interactions on an object, including debug options - similar to the console cheats), "money [amount]" (lets you set your household balance), and "visitor_control on" (lets you control visitor sims including NPCs using the spacebar to switch characters). Edith can be finicky and has lot of knobs/dials, so best not to fiddle too much with anything that seems mysterious or unintentional. Generally avoid the "default" menu options like New/Open/Save/Print/etc. Your best bets are the object browser and module inspector. All changes made to an object’s tree or properties are saved in real time (for the most part), there’s no undo button. Try to stick to running the regular Sims.exe, not the Sims_Debug.exe, since the latter throws C++ errors regularly and can crash.

i wonder why they made milton and lewis’ stories so similar. I get they are brothers but it is assumed both of them left they’re realities to become kings in their imagination, either though disappearing or actually killing themself. I wonder if the whole king aspect is much more important than we let on. there has to be a connection between the two that i am missing. Sam and Calvin also had similar deaths so maybe it’s a brothers thing?

I think it could definitely be a brothers thing, yeah! I love parallels and foils so don't think this has escaped my notice! There are some problems that arise though, like how do Gus, Gregory, and Walter fit into the equation? Gus and Gregory had very different deaths, and Walter's death was different from his brothers' as well. Unless you assume he was like,, launched in the air by the train. But that's kind of comically unserious. I think even Edie would think that's a bit much.

What do you guys think? I'm curious.

Cancelled Poppet Sisters Game

Like so many projects of mine, most of them never reach the finish line, however I want to share with you a game I had intended to make after Planter's Diary. It's a point and click life-sim called PK ULTRA!!

The premise of PK-Ultra was that it took place in an alternate history where "brain-compatable technology" has been around since the 1970s. In the modern day, this meant that you could purchase cartridges (or plug-ins) for your brain that could assist you with any number of things. Below are a collection of advertisements for "Brain Plug-ins":

You play as Wesley, a trans boy who's looking for work in the fast-paced tech world.

Using your trusty smart watch, you have an assortment of ways to manage your stats.

But this life-sim isn't the cozy escape you expect it to be. This is a survival game about managing your hunger, paying your rent, and working in a gig economy.

How will you ever manage all this on your own? Well remember, this is an alternate universe with brain enhancements, and take a wild guess what the main gimmick of the game is:

Yep! Throughout the game, you'll be required to purchase these plug-ins to performance-enhance your life. Anything from Hourglassy: the encyclopedia for your brain. Znoose: the sleep aid which lowers the amount of time you have to rest. TURBO BRAIN: a super duper safe plug-in that overclocks your brain. or even PAWS: which teaches you wholesome American values such as racism.

You'll be able to explore a semi-open world full of weird and wonderful side characters. One of them is a programmer named Edith, who's working on a modded Znoose which can instantly put your brain to sleep with the push of a button.

Her ultimate plan is to enter the astral plane by essentially locking her consciousness out of her body using this tech. Whether her plan succeeds or fails is... left to interpretation.

The villain of the game is Leon LeMain, the CEO of a company called Hourglass which produces Rightaway. He ends up being at the centre or a grand mind control conspiracy (who would've guessed) and it's all up to you and a small group of friends to tear the whole operation down.

Anyway, I hope you enjoyed what was essentially an art dump for a no longer in-development project. Maybe someday I'll salvage these ideas for something in the future. Here's a bus ticket if you ever want to visit this setting again.
