Wk2 Supervision meeting with Rebecca

Rebecca and I had our first meeting in 2021 this week.

I showed Rebecca some previous works. I also asked for advice on whether I should continue the project 'Love of Hot Water' shot last semester. Rebecca suggested me to start a new project.

I have learned before that I need to write ADR in the 4th semester of MP.

My friend once told me that in order to write a good ADR, I had better have some connection with the projects I shot in the 4 semesters. I asked Rebecca about it, and she said she needs to check with Alison. But she still suggested that ADR is not particularly important, what is important is my creative performance.

I said that I might want to shoot projects about women's perspectives. So she recommended videos and articles to me, and I am grateful for her generous sharing.

I tried to fill the faces and exposed parts of the body in each photo with solid colours to create a surreal feeling. Let the viewers feel that these happened in dreams, rather than reality. I want to blur the genders and the specific appearance of people to express that these people who are swallowing by dreams can be anyone. Anyone may have a similar experience.

I added a lot of bullets to the image I processed last time. Because the name of the image is A Person Who Lives in Quarrels, the bullet can show that the man is about to be hurt.

I was not satisfied with the butterfly-element photo taken last time. I found a new site and made an appointment in advance for the model to take photos again.

Unlike last time, more butterflies are pasted on the model's face this time. Same as before, I still tried shooting from various angles.

The first one is the raw photo I took.

The second is after Photoshop. I adjusted the color of the red plastic sheets to make it less obtrusive.

The third one is after receiving Rebecca's feedback, I modified the image's tone to make its contrast stronger.

The first two are 996 shots by me.

After the weekly meeting with Rebecca, I decided to take another photo of paper and a suit floating on water, so I drew a draft like this.

I borrowed medical infusion equipment and will prepare fake infusion bags. Use these props to simulate the treatment scene when the patient is hospitalized.

I drew a draft of A hypocritical visitor, which has 3 different characters. The photo on the right is where I am going to shoot.

The 1st image is a draft of A Bully’s Nightmare drawn by me.

And the 2nd & 3rd were experimenting before shooting. Shell and my mother were my experiment subjects, testing the shooting conditions of different focus objects.

The 1st picture is the original photo I took.

The 2nd one is my image after Photoshop. Rebecca suggested to me to remove the butterfly shadow on the model's chest, so I cropped part of the picture.

Then in the group critique, someone said that this image might be better presented in black and white, so I tried the black and white version. Some peers also said that the trees in the background would make it impossible to focus on the model's face, so I cropped it 1:1.

When shooting A Bully's Nightmare, I focused on the bear and the model as different subjects in two photos. I plan to present two clear subjects in the same photo when I post-process the photos.

BTW Thank Minny for being with us on such a hot day.

I took some photos in the woods for the background of When i become a tree or for the presentation of the final portfolio.

I prepared a tent for the model to change clothes.

I wrapped about 3 layers of red plastic sheets for the model and put on red gloves to make his clothes look more harmonious.

These red plastic sheets were not thrown away after they were used up. I took them home, which is conducive to reuse.
