The Anambra State Government has confirmed that Mmesoma Ejikeme manipulated her Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) result, where she claimed to have scored 362 but actually scored 249. An eight-member panel of inquiry was set up by the state governor to investigate the controversy surrounding her result. The panel recommended that Mmesoma issue a written apology to the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB), her school, and the state government. She is also required to undergo psychological counseling and therapy. The panel's findings revealed that Mmesoma had sent a manipulated result to JAMB, which differed significantly from her actual score. Mmesoma admitted to manipulating the results herself using her phone. The principal of Anglican Girls Secondary School, where Mmesoma is a student, expressed dismay at her conduct. According to her, she proceeded to the cybercafé (Prisca Global Computers, Uruagu, Nnewi) where she printed the results she had manipulated. The Committee tried to find out the motive behind her action, but Ejikeme Joy Mmesoma said nothing.

JUST IN: Investigations on Mmesoma’s result falsification concluded — JAMB Registrar
The Registrar of the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board, Prof. Ishaq Oloyede, on Tuesday, said the Board had concluded investigations on the case of the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination candidate, Mmesoma Ejikeme, who was accused of fraudulently inflating her 2023 UTME score. Oloyede made this disclosure in a transcript sent to our correspondent from Windhoek, Namibia. He said, “The truth is that JAMB has concluded the investigation on Nmesoma’s score falsification matter. She was not the only one caught, just that others have chosen not to go out”, Oloyede said. “Presently, there is an industry faking results and unfortunately they cannot penetrate JAMB system, reasons being that (our) system is foolproofed and we will prove it any time. It is unfortunate that parents and some of the candidates that are being fooled are not aware that they are only being fooled. The Registrar said he had earlier spoken with a former Minister of Education, Oby Ezekwesili, on Nmesoma’s matter, and told her that it was a high-level scam. “We improved on our facilities this year, so Ejikeme and her collaborators are still living in the past. I spoke with Mrs Ezekwesili on the matter and I told her that it is a high-level scam and I told her that it was a careless forgery. “This is because we are no longer using some of the things they used in changing those results since 2021. We used that pattern in 2021 and you saw what happened and many of such individuals were caught as well and they were treated accordingly,” he stated. Read the full article

UTME score: Provide Mmesoma’s paper for external body to remark – Charly Boy to JAMB
Famous Nigerian entertainer and socio-political activist, Charles Oputa, known by his stage name, Charly Boy, has waded into the controversy surrounding the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination, UTME, score of the Anambra schoolgirl, Mmesoma Ejikeme. Mmesoma who earlier claimed to have scored 362, highest in the 2023 UTME examination, was later accused by the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board, JAMB, of forging her result. However, Mmesoma who spoke in a viral video on Monday, expressed surprise that a result she printed out from the JAMB portal could be termed as fake by the examination board without proper investigation. She vehemently denied the allegation, saying she is not capable of manipulating her own result. Speaking on the matter, Charly Boy, who took to his Twitter handle on Monday night, expressed skepticism on the claim by JAMB. He called on the board to make Mmesoma’s examination papers available for a remark by an external body. He wrote, “JAMB must produce her paper for an external body to remark. I don’t trust the mark they claim they awarded her right now. “JAMB has ended up making the young girl popular and the girl on the other hand exposed JAMB corruption & ineptitude just like INEC.” Read the full article

Why JAMB is after my daughter – Mmesoma’s father breaks silence, makes allegations
Mr Romanus Ejikeme, father of Mmesoma who is currently in the news over allegations that she forged her Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination, UTME, result, has reacted to the controversy. Recall that the Joint Admission and Matriculation Board, JAMB, had alleged that the Anambra schoolgirl faked her 362 score. Although Mmesoma in a viral video on Monday, denied the allegation, JAMB in a statement on Tuesday, barred her from taking the exam for the next three years, insisting that she forged the result. Speaking on the matter, Romanus told Leadership that his daughter could not have inflated her UTME as alleged by JAMB. He alleged that the move was to thwart the N3 million scholarship awarded to her by the Innoson company. He said, “Mmesoma cannot manipulate her UTME score. I don’t believe what they are saying. They just want to transfer that scholarship to another person. That is why they are saying that Mmesoma did not make that score. “It is even her (Mmesoma) friends that saw her score on the internet and started calling her before she went and printed it out. We have the print-out with us now.” Read the full article
