Winx S1 Rambles
Yep, I'm doing this again but with Season one this time cause it has been far too long since I've watched this era of the show plus @yantarnii promised some gold frames which should be fun. Now full disclosure I'm watching the 4kids dub as I've never watched this dub and I wanted to expirience it since some people seem to like it, so if I refer to a line that isn't in the dub your familar with, that's why. I'll only be doing the first episode for now, as a bit of a teaser till I can really get into it and such.
Starting off with a positive of the dub, the intros got a cool song, while the CONSTANT "We are the winx" get's old the sequence referring to each girl is cool "Magical Flowers, Digital Powers, Rhythms and Tunes, The Sun and The Moon, Keep on searching far and wide for the Fire burning deep inside" I like stuff like that, though the lack of Aisha is already making itself known unfortunately. This is gonna be so weird. :(
I know I'm not the only one to note this but Gardenia looks so much more unique in the first three seasons, a ton of warm greens and yellows, make it feel like, well a garden. It's cool.
Okay three things here, Kiko looks completely fine despite being terrified seconds prior, and Bloom brings her suddenly complete apple with her despite biting into it instead of putting it in her now empty bike basket. Good to see inconsistency was pretty common already
Not Stella making her debut by kicking a demon across a clearing, again OG Stella was so cool.
Also is it just me or were the winx more powerful in their base forms then they are after Enchantix, Stella clears half a dozen monsters in one spell and I'd love to see Sirenix do that and such.
Buff Kiko, that is all I will say.
Bloom is both floating and on the ground at the same, it's hard to see with all the light but it's there.
Bloom hitting the imp so hard it literally dissappears is hillarious but honestly this kinda makes me want the Winx to have some more physichal weaponry, it would avoid all the spamming of energy blasts we get in later seasons.
Stella already has her scepter, Maybe a sword for Bloom, classic fairytale and all. Not sure if Flora or Aisha for a whip, both could work. Musa could have like one of those harp bows that she also plays for spells and stuff. No idea for Tecna though, maybe like an arm blade? Idk I'd love to hear any ideas you may have in replies tho.
The lighting of this season is beautiful btw.
Either Blooms hair is absolutely sopping wet or she needs to get a new robe, there are drops going through her hood.
Oh right Mitzy. Who fun fact voices her, Icy, Musa AND Digit in season 2. Girl got range.
Oh and then the Hunter Troll, with a... very uncomfortable looking design. Who approved this, I know he's a monster and all but he's somewhat humanoid so this design still makes me feel weird everytime he's on screen, just give him pants or overalls like Knut has.
Is it gay to call the scantilly clad girl you met in the woods just yesterday amazing? Sorry but how Bloom is with Stella feels like a crush to me XP
*Cue Mario 64 level enter sound* But seriously, Where did these kinda portals go? Like seriously just make sure every winx has a copy and the Omega Dimension incident would have been a slight hiccup rather then us thinking Tecna was full on dead! if you have portals in your universe, just use them smartly, please. Also Bloom isn't even looking at her XP
I forgot how OG red fountaion looked, looks nice, fits in a lot better with the other schools.
Brandon would scream, but he has no mouth, and neither does Sky I think. Also I will be saying there real names throughout this despite the whole ruse they have going on.
Cloud Tower! Still the only school i'd probably attend. it's purple, how can i not love it.
Cannot wait for these queens to be threatening again, also these outfits slay, even if I would never wear them.
I did not appreciate Magic Winx my first go around, but it is gorgeous, still beats Sirenix, fight me.
Again on the "The Winx and Specialists cannot keep track of anything useful" What happened to Riven's... rope? I don't know what to call it but I like it. Would have been handy if he kept it. Also Sky's sheild, maybe you wouldn't have gotten amnesia if you had a good way to block attacks princey.
Not much to say, just thought this was pretty.
And that's it for the moment. I'll get to the rest of season 1 when I feel like it but hope you enjoy this everybody.

1-30 can i just have your opinion on all of them please
KDHSKHFKFB whoever u are anon ur actually my only follower ever
1. are you of the “tom nook is a crook” or “tom nook is an honest businessman” opinion ?
HES AN HONEST BUSINESSMAN !!! ur loans have NO interest and he was handing out 100k interest/month for a good while there !!!!! the only reason it dropped to 10k is b/c i accidentally made a mil while tryna get dreamies ok. the whole "nook inc owns the entire island" thing is KINDA WEIRD but like ! i mean. its still a pretty sweet deal
2. do you play as yourself or a made up character ?
i play as me !! and then everyone tells me my character is cute which ROCKS
3. where is your house located ?

SE4SON: Chapter 23 (Finale)
[*After the explosion*]
The barricade was gone, the hellish atmosphere was gone, and most importantly, the king was gone. Everything looked so clear, so beautiful. With those walls no longer imprisoning them, the citizens felt as free as escaped caged animals. King Jason was no more. The only thing left of him was a pile of glitter, and his giant crown. The whole village was a mess, not to mention half destroyed, but at least they are now free from that tyrant. All thanks to two young heroes. With all that junk scattered around, it attracted some thieves. Some green hooded thieves.
"Hey guys! Look! Free loot!" "WOO HOOOO!"
While the green hoods collected as much as they could carry, the peasants went to explore the giant crown further, with the Faithful Five (plus Sally) up front. Diana lifted the crown, then threw it into the distance. Jimmy and Nick had been under the crown, hugging each other with their eyes shut tight. Jimmy? Nick? The two boys reopened their eyes after they heard their names. The boys looked at one another, seeing how closely they're holding each other in their arms. Nick even lifted his visor to get a clear look. The two boys eventually broke the hug slowly, while blushing and grinning. As for the amulet, it shrunk back to its normal size again. Rodent Girl snatched the jewel, then wore it around her neck.
"Give me an entire empire made of cheddar! Oh, with a swiss fondue maker! No! Ehhhhhh, let's see... A fondue fountain! Yeah!"
Everyone stood in silence for 30 minutes, as nothing happened.
"WHERE'S MY CHEDDAR EMPIRE?!" Whined Rodent Girl. "Well, I say about all of the amulet's powers have been drained. Probably best for all of us!" Replied Jimmy. "Except me."
Furious, Rodent Girl threw the amulet on the ground. Because Jimmy and Nick touched upon the Amulet Of Bind to save everyone, the jewel then shut off from its magic for good, to make sure evil never lays their paws on it again. However, that doesn't mean there isn't any good use for it. Jimmy decided to keep the amulet. Although its useless without its powers, it still looks pretty nice. Speaking of bind, the boy genius recalled Nick wanted to tell him something earlier.
"You were saying..." Quote Jimmy. "Hmm?" Questioned Nick. "I didn't quite catch that back there. You mentioned you had something to tell me." "Oh. That. *Ahem* What I meant to say... *Sigh* ...I'm ready to call in quits." "'Excuse me?" "I mean, being popular and all that. Obnoxious girls breathing my air. Breaking my leg so many times at the dumbest risks. You're right! It's not worth it! And I don't even care what the other kids will think of me anymore! So, if that position for a new friend is still open, I'd be happy to fill in."
Nick offered Jimmy his hand, and the two shook on it. The boy genius was moved. He knew Nick would say yes eventually. In truth, Nick was gonna tell him how he really felt, but that was because he thought saving the town meant sacrificing their lives. Now, here they are in one piece. Besides, Nick doesn't find it appropriate to confess right now. Jimmy just got over a breakup, and they've only been close for about a week. Perhaps they shouldn't rush things. Someday, maybe Nick will come out with the truth.
"Soooooo, no more king. Now what?" Asked Diana. "I think you'd be perfect for royalty, Diana! We haven't had a queen around here in so long!" Suggested Mitzi. "Woah woah woah! Don't be too hasty! You can't just decide a king or a queen! Shouldn't we take a vote?" "I'd vote for you!" "Yeah, I'd vote for the big lady, too!" Screamed a random peasant. "Me three!" Then another. "BIG LADY FOR QUEEN!" And another.
The voting spreaded like wild fire. The entire village pumped their fists into the air, repeatedly chanting "Big Lady!" Everyone was doing it. Sally, the rest of the Faithful Five, Albert holding up his prosthetic arm, even Jimmy and Nick. The only ones that didn't vote were the uppity, higher class citizens. At long last, Diana had accepted their votes as a landslide.
"Alright! I'll be queen, then!"
The peasants were so joyed, they tossed their hats up. They even gave her a new robe, mace, and crown. Diana was quite flattered, yet somewhat embarrassed, by this gesture.
"And what's a queen without her very own chancellor?"
Diana pointed at her friend, Mitzi. The woman was blessed, and speechless. The two hugged things out, while the peasants cheered.
"HOLD IT! HOLD IT! What about me?" Asked Richard. "What about you, fink?" Replied Diana. "Yeah, FINK!" Spat Mitzi. "Well, I know that me, you, and all your friends have got off on the wrong side of the shoe, but... ...you need me more than you think! You need experience to rule a kingdom! How will you know how to handle the money carefully? Taking charge requires steps from A to Z! And besides, I really need a new job. My wife's going to be very disappointed in me. Mother, too. Please, your new greatness!" "Sorry, sir! You're looking at the new, bonafide chancellor, right here!" Bragged Mitzi. "Wait a moment. *Starts thinking* Hmmmmmmm.... As much as it pains me to help an old friend of Jason, I could use the experience. I'll tell you what: You could work part-time as my personal tutor! You teach me the supremacy of royalty, and you'll get a payment of your usual salary! (As soon as I find where Jason keeps all his money)" Said Diana. "Oh, bless you! Bless you!" Bowed Richard. "And if you want a Christmas bonus and paid vacation time, you could work fulltime cleaning up Butterscotch's new stables!" "Bless you- What?"
After that, Diana announced the new rules. Prices will be dropped. Everyone is now free to do whatever they please, unless it's gonna be problematic. The citizens will get equal amounts of earnings. Classes will no longer be divided. The higher class can go beat it! ...after they clean up the mess. And no more hangings. Just then, the people heard thunder roaring. The clouds turned gray, and it started to rain. The silver paint washed off of Nick's armor. All I had to do was add water?! At last, Sally then witnessed what Jimmy and Nick have been trying to tell her. The real Silver Knight's armor coat was never painted on. It was crafted from genuine, shiny silver metal.
"Y-you mean to tell me... ...th-that's not genuine silver?" Stuttered Sally. "Sure looks like it." Said Nick. "Uhhhhhhhhhhh, how embarrassing!! I thought I was chasing after two legends from the past, but instead all I've done is pester some commoner kids!" "I'm sorry, Sally. We did try to tell you." Replied Jimmy. "Yeah. Guess this is all on me. Sorry for all the trouble." "Hey, lighten up, kiddo! We still had loads a fun! We had dinner with a tyrant, escaped from prison, and even slayed a monster! Plus, you made a new family out of this!" Quote Nick.
Sally did a little thinking on it. From all the exciting tales her father used to tell her, she was eager to meet this heroic pair. The Wise Wizard and Silver Knight would save them from their misery. Then ever since her parents got hanged by the king, Sally was hoping to fulfill her father's dream of finding the old legends, and then making them her parents. Not because of what awesome dads they'd make, which is mighty true, but it's what her father wanted when he was her age. Sally looked at the painted picture for a moment. Although, she never found the legendary Wise Wizard and Silver Knight, she yet made an amazing new family, and the two boys did save the town regardless of them being some mere commoner children.
"I suppose you're right. I mean, you two aren't exactly legends, but you're still great guys. Thank you so much for saving AppleSmoked Wood." Sally thanked. "Who's that?" Asked Nick. "The town we live in." "Ohhhhhhhhhhh. So that is the town's name! AppleSmoked Wood! To think: We've been living here for over a week, and haven't figured out the name of the village we're living in." "How sad it is." Said Jimmy. "Why?" "We just got to know the town's name, but under weather circumstances, looks like we'll be leaving sometime soon."
.................................
[*Elsewhere*]
The whole squad walked back to the ranch. Actually, Butterscotch gave Jimmy and Nick a ride on his back, since they are the heroes. Now that Diana is the new queen, they might as well say goodbye to their old hut, and give the animals a new home at the castle. There were quite a lot of struggles that took place at this ranch, but at least they had some happy memories. Speaking of animals, the hens' eggs have now hatched, with a total litter of 500 chicks. Diana and Mitzi helped the two boys out of their costumes. After that, they delivered a goodbye to each member of the Faithful Five, including Sally.
"Diana; As the new queen of AppleSmoked Wood, promise me you'll do a good job. I know you can. And word of advice: Don't let power get to your head. Trust me, I've been there. Mitzi; You're a good person, but remember to learn somebody's background before you judge. Benson; No more eavesdropping, please." Said Jimmy. "Rodent Girl; Now that you're living royalty, you probably have a better chance of making new friends now! Human friends, that is. But bear one thing in mind: Don't make them like you for your fame! Make them like you for who you are! Sally; You must be the luckiest kid in the world. You have a new family, a big new home, and you're friends with the town's newest heroes! Butterscotch; God I wish I could take a picture right now. A real-life unicorn." Said Nick.
Everyone started to cry. Rodent Girl began wailing, and blew her nose into Benson's apron. Despite their time machine being on the roof, Diana managed to get the boys up there. She just threw them up on the roof. After that, Jimmy and Nick hurried inside. Jimmy released the kite for flight, and the last thing they need is a bolt of lightning. Living their remaining minutes, the two boys continued to wave and say goodbye, while they wait for electricity to strike.
"WHEN YOU DO RETURN, SHOW US HOW TO MAKE PIZZA, NICK!" Screamed Rodent Girl.
The goodbying went on for about 12 minutes. Jimmy and Nick's arms were getting tired from waving, and so were the squad's. Butterscotch was starting to fall asleep. Their luck went out the window as the rain then stopped.
"Well, we'll be staying here for awhil-"
Suddenly, a bolt of lightning hit the kite, followed down the wire, then powered the machine. In just a flash, the boys were now gone. Diana saluted a farewell to them.
.............................
[*Back in the modern era*]
The whole gang has now tired themselves out, and decided to take breaks. Putting together this time machine is not as easy as riding a bike. Sheen and Libby were tired as well, even though they did absolutely nothing. Judy, while exhausted, continued to force herself to work. Carl was the only one who hasn't fallen under exhaustion. The allergy boy came to Judy's aid, and gave her a shoulder massage.
"Mrs. Neutron, I think you ought to take a break." Said Carl. "No... My baby... My baby... Jamie... Jimmy..." Replied Judy. "Who's Jamie?"
Carl then dragged her away from the machine, and offered her a pillow to rest on. Hugh was quite envied. Where's MY pillow? The allergy boy looked at the time machine. The gang deserves a power rest, but he wants Jimmy to come home now. Trying to be a good friend, he decided to bring Jimmy here himself. But how's he gonna do that? He put on his cape, hat, and took out his magic want.
"Carl, we're already tired enough! Don't bore us to sleep!" Said Sheen.
Carl didn't listen. He's no expert, but it's worth a shot. This may be a good chance to impress Judy, too. He wielded his magic wand, and spoke his own made up words. Sheen just rolled his eyes. He walked up to his friend to talk him out of it, just to save him any humiliation.
"Kibbidy-do! Kibbidy-dome! Please bring my best friend Jimmy back home!" Chanted Carl. "I know kids have said this to you very often, but, you kinda look ridiculous. No offense, though!" Sheen tried to argue. "Kibbidy-do! Kibbidy-dome! Please bring my best friend Jimmy back home!" "Could we at least phone a real professional? Like Houdini? Or Blackstone? Or that wizardy guy from the animated short film starring the mouse?" "KIBBIDY-DO! KIBBIDY-DOME! PLEASE BRING MY BEST FRIEND JIMMY NEUTRON BACK HOME!"
Suddenly, a bright light and loud BANG took place. It drew in the whole squad's attention. Carl was in shock, and Sheen was too. The allergy boy gazed at his wand. He probably needed to throw in all the strength he had. As the brightness cleared, Jimmy and Nick stood in place, handcuffed like they were to begin with. The two boys grinned and greeted their old friends and family.
"JAMES!" Judy screamed. "NICHOLAS!" Also screamed Mrs. Dean.
Carl took the key out of his pocket, then unlocked the handcuffs. After that, both of the boys received hugs from their parents. Judy was squeezing the daylight out of her son, while Mrs. Dean was tearing up from being reunited with hers. Jimmy then requested his mom and dad to let go of him for a moment. Accepting his request, Jimmy threw himself at Carl, embracing into a hug. Carl was confused, because he thought Jimmy was uncomfortable hugging the same gender. When he finished hugging Carl, he did the same to Sheen.
"Gentlemen, I am so sorry I took you for granted. I have not been a very nice friend to you both! I've been so full of my own potential, I never took the time to acknowledge yours! The bestest friends in the world deserve a pal that actually cares for them. That is why, from now on, things are going to be different around here! Carl; No more harsh lecturing, and human experimental testing! If I happen to accidentally trigger anything that sets off your anxiety, keep me apprised!" Said Jimmy. "Gee. Thanks, Jimmy! You’re the greatest!" Carl thanked. "And Sheen; Thank you for being a supportive friend! Thank you for at least trying your best to be a helpful friend! Thank you for being the friend that wants nothing more than to put smiles upon our faces. I feel you deserve much more credit than what you've earned!" "Sooooooooooo... ...would you like to watch 395 episodes of the original 90s Ultralord show on Cageflix with me?" Asked Sheen. "... Sure! Anything for an old buddy of mine!" "HALLELUJAH!"
Sheen's prayers have been answered. Jimmy Neutron is a changed boy, and has learned to respect his friends. Out of excitement, Sheen returned Jimmy's hug. The moment was disturbed when they received an uninvited guest. It was Cindy, who finally swallowed her pride and came to apologize to Libby. She didn't notice Jimmy and Nick there.
"Cindy?" Libby was surprised. "Yeah. It's me alright. Listen, about what I said earlier... A lot has gone right through my head. I don't know what's wrong with me." Said Cindy. "Is this an apology?" "Yesssssss. I'm sorry, Libby. I'm sorry for my outburst back there. Pride really takes a toll on me. It seems that I am the one who is... ...wrrrrrrrrrrrrrrooooooooooonnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnng." "*Pats Cindy on the back* You're alright, girl." "What's going on?" Asked Jimmy. "This is between us friends, Neutron- Neutron?!" Quote Cindy.
Cindy couldn't believe her eyes. Jimmy was back. Instead of throwing her usual angry fit, she decided to just steer clear from him and run back home. Libby, however, grabbed Cindy, and pushed her towards the boy genius. If Cindy is mature as she says she is, she might as well prove it. Not just to her friends, but to herself as well. Time to face the music.
"Is there... ...something you'd like to say?" Jimmy asked timidly. "Mhm." Cindy hummed. "...?" "...!" "...?" "Maybe you were right. This breakup is best for us." "Wait, could you say that again? First sentence." "You were right." "And again?" "You wer-" "*Giggles* Just messin' with ya! Go on, if you may!" "*Groans* Perhaps we are unhealthy for each other. All I ever thought about was getting my happy ending, but this relationship of ours isn't gonna lead to anything in the future. Maybe, there are alternate ways to find my happy ending. Sometimes, the best way to be free is to move on." "I couldn't agree more. *Puts out hand* Friends?" "*Slowly reaches for his hand to shake* Friends. Whatever."
The two shook hands, reclaiming friendship. Cindy wasn't proud of what she did, but it felt hella satisfying.
"Well Nick, looks like you'll be on your way." Said Libby. "Nuh uh! I ain't going nowhere! Jimmy and I are now two peas in a pod!" Replied Nick.
Cindy, Carl, and Sheen were dumbfounded on what they just heard. One: Nick noting the boy genius as his best buddy. And two: Did Nick just call Jimmy by his first name? Unlike with Cindy, the kids have never heard Nick address Jimmy by his first name. Libby was not at all surprised. She figured out the message here. Sheen thought, if Nick finally decided to settle with Jimmy, then that means he's ready to settle with him and Carl.
"If you're now cool with Jimmy, then does that make you..." Said Sheen. "Huh? ‘Does that make me’ what?" Asked Nick. "...our new FRIEND! *Gazes at him with twinkling eyes*" "Uhhhhhhhh-" "WELCOME TO THE NERD SQUAD, NEW FRIEND!"
Sheen embraced Nick into a big hug. Quitting popularity has taken a load off of Nick's back. But now that he's friends with Jimmy, he's got a brand new load: Sheen. Ah, hell with it. For Jimmy, he might as well learn to tolerate Sheen's wacky actions. While Nick tried to squirm out of Sheen's grip, Jimmy removed the amulet out of his pocket, and gave it to his mother.
"Happy belated birthday, Mom." Said Jimmy. "Oh, Jimmy... This is beautiful. Where did you get this?" Asked Judy. "It-" "Oh, on second thought. Nevermind." "Now that the kids are back, what say we all celebrate?" Suggested Mrs. Dean. "That's a wonderful idea! How 'bout dinner at Paste Pot's Pizza Palace?" "Mehhh. There's this international All-You-Can-Eat buff-fet that serves everything, including a sushi bar! It's very expensive, but... *Applies makeup* ...I know how to get us free meals." "Ooooh! Oooooh! Why don't we dine at Pancia Grassa: Italian Eats? And as a bonus treat, Showtime Ducks On Ice has a grand performance tonight!" Quote Hugh. "Hugh, it's the boys we're treating. Not you."
Jimmy had something else in mind.
"That's all very nice of you. But frankly, I'd rather gorge down at The Candy Bar, and catch a movie with my new best friend, Nick! ...for the remaining of the day!" "That's right! His best friend."
Nick wrapped a single arm around his short buddy, as they walked off together. Cindy has never seen Jimmy that close to anyone. Also, when did Nick start calling Jimmy "Jimmy?" The skateboard boy looks spot-on happy in the boy genius's presence. These two have been together for an entire week, in whatever timeline. Could this be one of those "stranded on a deserted island" cases? Nah, that's ridiculous! They're men! Men don't fall in love with each other! Can they?
Meanwhile, Carl tossed all his magic gear aside. He's through with magic now. It's time to hang up the hat and cape, and go back to the llamas that need him dearly. Here's a magician the world isn't ready for yet. Everyone shrugged, and left the scene to attend to their own businesses. After that, a little white familiar rabbit popped out from the hat, giving off a wink.

Lacy Lives at Night
Hey, y’know what I promised I’d write about at one point? Lacy’s love life!
Words:1310 Summary: Lacy talks to Pearl for the first time at a gay club Warnings: Can’t really...think of any? If you find one hit me up.
Lacy got home from a long day of pouring coffee and filing reports for an alcoholic businessman. It was a job that she...enjoyed? Well, that’s not quite the word, now, is it? I mean, she didn’t hate Wick Sable, far from it! He was a charming, nice man. But there wasn’t much glamor, or flash. Not a lot of excitement, this job.
There also weren’t any girls.
It comes as no surprise to anyone who knew Lacy Hardt that she was very...well, we’ll say she preferred the company of women. She’s tried dating a man, once, in college, but when she found herself drawn more to this man’s sister, she knew something was up. She wasn’t exactly open about it outside of work, but Wick didn’t mind it and Mitzi ran speakeasies; half the people she worked with were gay anyhow. But Lacy didn’t go to the Daisy too often, and especially not on Fridays.
Friday evenings were for The Willow Tree.
Asa didn’t bother with The Willow Tree because he didn’t know it existed. Barely anyone knew it existed, save for a large part of the city’s gay population. It was a safe place for lesbians and gay men, one of few, and Lacy loved it there. Partially because she was, as she would crudely call it, ‘window shopping’, and partially because there was a girl there she’d been keen on for a bit, a girl she’d seen at the opera. She wore a floral green dress with a matching ascot, not intending to dance that night. She got there, knocked 5 times on the door, and showed off a drawing on her palm. “Welcome in.” The door swung open, and she walked down a few sets of stairs. She walked in and the warm air rushed at her.
She saw her. The girl she’d been eyeing was a singer; not a jazz singer, just a singer, named Pearl Smith. She stared a little. Pearl was wearing a bright white dress with a matching boa, and heels that shot her to the roof. Her hair was short and her fur was black-dark black, upset only by her deep green eyes that could stare into someone’s soul. Lacy knew that Pearl was miles out of her league. A secretary? And an opera singer? Nevermind them both being women, the big issue there was class! Lacy never got drunk because she couldn’t afford to, whereas Pearl Smith was able to buy a new dress to wear every week. What’s more, she was British, and Lacy didn’t even tap her Rs. “Pardon, dearie~” She’d been standing in the way of the stairs. “Oh, I...sorry.” She shuffled over, still looking, biting her lip...well, the bottom end, at least, theat lipstick was expensive.
And so, it was going to be one of those nights. She would look on at Pearl Smith and her rich friends, watch Pearl from afar, and sipping at a drink that she knew she wouldn’t ask for another of. She’d been like this ever since Pearl came around a month ago. She did used to talk around with girls, but it seemed like everybody already had somebody. It was like the city was full of an odd number, and she’d been the one left out. Then, she saw something she never thought she’d see. Pearl Smith looked her dead in the eye.
She started whispering to someone next to her. She heard...words? She thought? Things like ‘polone’ and ‘willets’...must’ve been from across the pond. She looked away quickly; what business did she have looking at who could easily be the richest person in this club? She looked back over out of the corner of her eye, and Pearl was still glancing over. She looked and pointed to her face. ‘Me?’ she asked with her body language, widening her eyes and sitting up straighter.
Pearl nodded and motioned for her to come over.
At this point, Lacy’s heart was just about to jump right out of her chest. She slowly and timidly headed over to Pearl’s table. She heard Pearl speak, her voice perfect and projecting, and her accent was refined. “You can come closer, y’know, I won’t bite you...Jack, pull up a chair for her please?” A friend pulled a stool over to the table. Lacy sat down. “Uhm...may I help you?” She asked.
“Oh, I just wanted to know your name, I love that hair!”
“I...you’re Pearl Smith.” Pearl Smith giggled at the girl’s star-struck expression. “I am, but I was hoping to hear your name, actually?”
“Uh...Lacy! Lacy Hardt.” She shook Pearl’s hand, and pearl kissed Lacy’s hand gently. Lacy looked down bashfully. “I work hard on the hair.”
“It looks like it!” Pearl leaned on the table. “Do you live here?” Lacy nodded. “I work for Sedgewick Sable.”
“Sable? As in the quarry owning fellow?”
“Yes. I’m just his secretary, I’m not quite as rich as-”
“Oh, a secretary, so you’re close to him all the time?” Lacy knew what was coming next. It had happened dozens of times before; they want to mee the rich one and use her to do it. She nodded. “I work with him all day, yes.”
“Well, must be demanding work, yes?” Pearl asked, leaning closer to Lacy.
“It is. A lot of it’s just going places and running numbers, but it’s an awful lot of things to have to get done.” Lacy leaned closer too, looking into Pearl’s eyes. “I mean it can’t be as hard as being a soprano.”
“Oh, trust me, all I do is memorize and sing. The hardest part is taking care of my voice and wearing those dreadful costumes they make you wear for the Wagner bits.” Lacy let out a giggle. “They can be pretty garish sometimes.”
“Oh, don’t get me started! We’ve just finished the Ring Cycle-”
“I saw you in that, you were wonderful!” The two were holding hand on top of the table. “Oh, thank you, sweetheart,” Pearl said, “But I think you would’ve liked it more if I’d been wearing a costume I could move in! And those pointy helmets….not very realistic, I hear?”
“Hmm? Oh, no, not very.” She nodded. Her tail stood lightly. “Do you come here often?” Pearl asked. The sudden shift in topic caught Lacy off guard.
“I-uh, once a week, Fridays. Other nights I’m at the Daisy.”
“Daisy? You ever go to the Marigold?”
“Once, wasn’t a big fan.” She sipped her drink. “The Daisy’s better, if you ask me, but obviously not as many like us.” She said. “I get hit on by men quite a bit over there.”
“Ah, I see...well, maybe it wouldn’t happen if you had a date?”
“Everyone seems to have one already! At least, everyone here.”
“Not me.”
“Not you?” Lacy said, surprised.
“No, not a one. I’m apparently a very intimidating figure, ‘out of people’s league’ and such. I don’t understand a word of it, though. I try to be outgoi-”
“You’re beautiful.” Pearl stopped for a moment. “Beg your pardon?”
Lacy looked down bashfully. “I...well, I just-it’s-I mean you’re very pretty and a lot of girls here know who you are, we just- well, I just, I can’t speak for everybody, w-we-” She collected herself for a moment. The fact that she was talking to Pearl Smith was frying her usually calculating and concentrated brain.
“I think a lot of girls just assume you’re too high up for us.”
“What gives off that impression?”
“You’re just...so pretty, is all! I dunno anyone who looks like you do.”
Pearl smiled. “Well, you’re not such an ugly duckling yourself.” The two looked away shyly, and then looked back at each other. Pearl’s grip on lacy’s hand strengthened.
“So you said you didn’t have a date?”

Triggers: none that aren’t listed already !! Anything Else: n/a !! i hope all the changes i made are acceptable !!
✧・゚: *✧・゚:* CHARACTER INFORMATION *:・゚✧*:・゚✧
Name: thipaya “bloom” chonhapon Age: unknown to her, but celebrates on the day she was found; december 10th, 1998 (21) (has not yet stopped aging, so still looks her mundane age) Gender: demigirl (pronouns she/her) FC: lalisa manoban
Character Biography
Bloom was born to a hollow of fire fairies, but it was attacked by violent witches who sought more power than they could handle and left the place broken when unable to obtain the power they craved. Her sister, Daphne, knew of the incredible power Bloom’s small hands held, and hid her little sister among mundanes for her own safety.
From then on, Bloom was raised in Bangkok, Thailand, after being found in a fire she accidentally started herself on international firefighter day. Her father, one of the responding officers, immediately decided to adopt a helpless baby that would surely attract suspicion after being found in a fire without even a tiny burn mark, and since both of them had wanted a baby for a long time, and possessed a soft spot for Mystiques to begin with, his wife agreed without hesitation.
She was kind of a lonely kid, but didn’t stand out in the slightest. She had one close friend that she spent her time with, but apart from her mortal enemy Mitzi, who hated her for no apparent reason, nothing eventful happened before discovering her powers: there was no major bullying, Bloom wasn’t at the top of the food chain at school, and no natural disasters occurred that would make her question her own abilities or those of others.
Until she was attacked by a werewolf a few months ago, that is. It was sent by witches, she quickly found out, and after being rescued by a light fairy and almost causing a forest fire, Bloom discovered that maybe, she wasn’t as mundane as she thought. The safest place to discover everything about her power was Porthaven, since her parents didn’t know anything about this either, so she packed her things and left when the opportunity presented itself. She’s still weary of werewolves, though. Some might even call her paranoid - she went so far as to assume a fake identity for her first week in Porthaven until she knew what to do and how to act. Needless to say, that didn’t go very well.
In a city filled with magical creatures she had no particular interest in until a few months ago, Bloom has lots to figure out. Who can she trust, and what can she learn? Not only about herself, but the world around her. She learned of the university and makes frequent use of its resources, as well as those of the local library.
Headcanons
her father has a sense of humor, since her given formal name means ‘to give shine’. her surname means ‘born from blessing’.
because she used to work in her mother’s flower shop, bloom has developed a keen ability to ‘speak the language of flowers’ (only metaphorically), as well as a green thumb.
however, instead of taking a job at the valley of flowers, bloom backed down because everyone seemed to know what they were doing rather than simply messing around like her, and became a librarian at the porthaven public library instead. she uses her time there, when she’s not putting away books, to research her ancestry and anything else she can find out about her past and her identity.
her job is also virtually the only place you will find her without her bunny kiko by her side, since they don’t allow animals inside; he loves to take rides with her in her bicycle basket, which bloom has completely customized to his liking (he got cranky when the pillow inside wasn’t fluffy enough).
her favorite clothing item is a pair of blue ankle-length platform boots. they go with virtually nothing, but even staring at them in her closet simply makes her happy.
she loves to draw. she’s not great, nothing special (as with most things in life, she feels), but she mostly draws magical creatures as that’s what currently fascinates her.
she’s pursuing a bachelor’s degree in psychology.
if you could bottle impulsiveness, hot-headedness, escapism and an innate ability to either piss someone off or be their best friends ten seconds into a conversation, you’d get bloom.
she’s a sagittarius and born in the year of the tiger - both symbolizing fire.

YEAR 2: The Worst Comedian (Part 2)
I had an encounter with former Comedy Store talent coordinator, Tommy, who was fired just months prior and was working on developing another home base where he could still play comedy godfather. The Vaucluse Lounge was a mere two blocks away from the Comedy Store and now Tommy was recruiting comics that were still loyal to him and putting on shows. They were calling this place Chaplin's House, but I don't think there was anything historic about it.
It really was an impressive bar/lounge, but management was falling apart. It was a ghost town. I ordered their onion rings and got a pile of American cheese on a couple of turd circles (psst, I'm not really a writer). I ordered something disgusting and got so much more.
"Ooh, that looks good, I'm gonna get that!" one comic said, pinching and stretching some cheese off my plate.
A couple of nights the place was locked up unannounced, black curtains drawn, even though a show was supposed to be going on. Headliners were bailing before their sets.
There were a couple of open mics going on there, too. Tommy would play some acoustic guitar for 30 minutes to get the room warmed up. He played the same three songs over and over. Or maybe it was just the same three chords, I can't remember. He was like one of those dudes that destroy a party by forcing us to listen to a cover of Hotel California. Strictly Hollywood Blvd quality. Then he would hang out for the mic and occasionally give advice to some lucky comic.
After one of my sets, he was suddenly next to me, talking into my ear like David Blaine.
"There's something that's still missing, but I don't know what it is."
"I'm not connecting with the audience?" I asked.
"There was just something missing. Try sitting on a stool and just saying your material, so it's not so (in-your-face gesture) forced. Your material is good, it had an intelligence and you have a good look. It's not about how you look on stage, it's about how you look on camera....really. But I think you just need to say what you have to say- I took it in. You'll get there, I enjoyed it."
Then he patted me on the shoulder and walked away.
Maybe if I worked hard enough I could become a Vaucluse regular! I honestly thought it was cool to get advice from Tommy, despite him being a reputed racist douchebag. I mean, he was once the apprentice of The Comedy Store owner Mitzi Shore, so his opinion has to count for something, right? A racist's opinion is still an opinion. Plus, he really wailed on the guitar!
One night at Vaucluse I waited around for 2 hours to do a 10 minute set. That's actually a good set for that kind of wait, but this night was excruciating. There was a line-up of all male comics that had plenty to say about the opposite sex: Stories varied from "This bitch was sucking my dick," to "I wanted to give her brown eye a black eye!" and so forth. I remember hearing the bartender making pained noises behind the counter, like some victim of a stabbing. left for dead. She had to just stand there and take it...every worthless comedian. Worst of all, EVERYONE got 10 minutes. When the first 30 seconds are torture, the next 9 1/2 feel like a lifetime. When they finally got to me the host said,
"Uhh, you get 2 minutes."
I've never been that pissed at an open mic before. Mother...FUCKER. They were letting the worst people host, nothing ever started on time, the food was godawful, the bartender wanted to kill herself, and no one seemed to give a shit that the place was falling apart. I was mentally trying to stay positive and tune out all the negative shit I'd been listening to, but now I wanted to douse myself in gasoline and tackle the host into the fireplace--that would be such a great closer. My stomach was turning from the onion rings, so I opted for my shitty set instead.
But hey, it's 2 minutes so I did it. I got through a joke-and-a-half. Once I left, I cursed and muttered angrily all the way to the bus, letting the "cocksuckers" and "motherfuckers" fly.
I went home and looked at their Facebook page and saw this ridiculous post,
"Chaplin's House is being called the New Comedy Store...no joke."
Nobody's laughing.
Anyway, that place folded and Tommy moved on to another space where he still occasionally gives out his comedy pointers.
Also in my second year I was doing fewer bringer shows, but I still got roped into a couple more at Flappers. I would quickly get stressed out again and moan to my girlfriend about why I put myself through this. Just reading the emails made me want to puke:
Respond to this email with a head count of how many audience you expect so that we can properly staff the room.
It takes everyone involved to have epic shows--we do ask everyone to always aim to have at least 5 people per show. If you are unable to get anyone out please let us know and we will re-schedule you for a date that is more convenient for you to support.
Like I said before, they only want me back when I make some fucking friends!
I decided to not show up at all and go to the Rebel Bite open mic in Long Beach instead. An open mic at a pizza joint was better than doing a bringer show, at least in my head. I wrote back:
Sorry for the delay, I wanted to get a more accurate count of zero confirmed. I think my friends tapped out months ago. Let me know if you want to reschedule or give me the boot. Or I'll audition again once I have a little fanbase I can depend on instead of wasting everybody's time. Nothing personal. Thanks.
I shouldn't have felt bad about it anyway, since I bought 4 of my videotaped sets from them.
Then there was the Formosa Cafe. I did it because I was told it wasn't REALLY a bringer show...just sort of. Uggh. I won't mention the names. I can still hear the producer pretending to laugh at other people's sets--so forced and obvious, trying to get the crowd on our side. He'd be looking down at his phone and let out a
"BWAHAHAHAHA!"
Then I'd have to listen to some jerk-off host do his Family Guy impressions for 15 minutes. Then the producer would go up and do the most dated material--many of these bringer show people stick to their one routine. Anyway, what do I know, they're the ones cashing in, right?
I had friends show up for my first and second show, then the third time none of my friends came out and the producer stopped booking me. During past shows, he was blowing smoke up my ass and said all these nice things about my particular brand of humor, but he was only thinking about the head-count. He was a phony just like his forced laughter.
There were some nice moments. My blues buddy, Street Slim invited me to do a set at The Rainbow Bar and Grill, a really cool rock bar on The Sunset Strip. Just to do something outside the ring of comedians that I was usually bumping heads with felt really special.
My friend Donald and I rented out a black box theater and produced a variety show. It ran 2 1/2 hours and half the audience left, but we had a great time.
I co-produced a comedy show with Jeanne Whitney and Timika Hall at Echoes Under Sunset. We only did 3 shows, but it was a fantastic experience.
I remember bombing at the new UCB on Sunset and when I was walking back to the car, a couple I've never seen before starts yelling at me from their car.
"Marty, you were funny!"
"What?"
"We were inside."
"Really? Thanks, it felt like death in there."
"We thought you were funny."
"Working on it, working on it."
That blew my mind. Who does that? And they remembered my name!
One time they moved a Comedy Store open mic into the Main Room and after we finished our sets, Bill Burr dropped in and did 15 minutes to an all-comic crowd. It was awesome.
Another time I was waiting around for Tony Bartolone's Hat Show to start and the great Rick Shapiro was outside with Rick Wood and Jeremy Bassett. Shapiro was making fun of the Oldtown Pasadena scene and he suddenly gets a glimmer in his eye and this evil grin,
"Let's go to the Mac Store and jerk off!"
It was said with such demented glee. Later we went to get him some Starbucks and he told the barista that his name was Johnny Two Chicks. He was so excited to hear the name called out, but it didn't get the reaction he wanted.
Then there was the time that I was waiting in the green room for another possible Kill Tony episode at the Comedy Store. Dom Irrera comes in and sits down across from me. It's silent, it's uncomfortable, the guy is amazing, so I'm a little in awe. He asks me if I'm a comic and how long I've been doing it. Very friendly, but I just gave him short answers. Meanwhile, Pat Regan was on stage singing about how much he misses getting jacked off in San Francisco, and Dom and I are just sitting there while this song is in the background. Dom turns to me completely serious and says,
"This song brings back a lot of memories." I barked out a laugh.
I started making goofy set-lists and posting them online. Just a good way to vent about the shit I'd seen at open mics during the week. Here are a few of my favorites:
The usual variety of homophobic/misogynistic shit I'd hear on any given week.
My second Kill Tony appearance went a little better, but only because I managed to get a few laughs. It was a unique situation because I brought my buddy Dakota Freeman with me, but he was under 21 and wouldn't be allowed inside the club unless he was called up to perform. So I stood outside with him, listening through the door every few minutes to see if we'd get called.
About 30 minutes into the show I got called, but I couldn't open the door from the outside. For a second, the hosts thought I had flaked, but a couple of my friends were in the audience, telling them I was behind the door because I was with a minor. They opened the door for me and at this point there was some confusion because the hosts were under the impression that I was the one underage. Then when it was cleared up Tony says,
"Oh, you're hanging out with underage boys. Ok!"
Before I've even started my set, another pedophile joke had been spiked over my head. You can probably see where this is going.
I didn't gain any Twitter followers this time--in fact, I think I lost a couple. They probably thought I was really a pedophile.
Gradually, I found some open mics down in Long Beach, where I had moved in with my girlfriend. There was the SOM open mic at the Rebel Bite pizzeria, The Library Coffeehouse, Blacklight District Lounge and Makai Coffee.
Now if I wasn't feeling the LA scene that week, I had the option to hit some mics in my neighborhood. Rebel Bite, Makai, and The Library were just a mile away. Long Beach was also calmer. I could do longer sets- I did my first 15 minute set at Rebel Bite. I met some nice people. It's funny how these two coffee shops were the polar opposite in terms of an audience--take a look below.
I was also hearing some positive feedback for a change. Sometimes my conceptual ideas would play well and even if they didn't, I'd still be writing the kind of stuff I wanted to try. The support I was getting from my new friends gave me the confidence to try bigger ideas. Showing up to mics and finally having a group of friends to talk to was a nice break. I was so used to being the creeper that was eavesdropping outside a circle of comedy nerds or asking Dean Delray stupid questions in the Comedy Store hallway. Complimenting comics on their podcasts, or a joke that I liked, thinking I always had to go in with a compliment or they'd hate my guts. Then I would fuck up their name anyway, which made the compliment null and void.
I'm still learning to relax, but I'm usually amped up whenever I'm in Los Angeles. I feel the cutthroat competition and that air of judgement. Mostly because I'm carrying it around with me--turn that shit off Wurst, these are your friends! I don't have to prove anything to these comics, we're all showing up to the same mic. Charles Disney was just saying how we ask questions that we want to be asked in return,
"You got any cool gigs coming up? No? NOW ASK ME IF I HAVE ANY COOL GIGS! THANK YOU, I DO! SLEEPAWAY CAMP BABY-MARGARET CHO HEADLINING! ENJOY YOUR SHOW AT P.F. CHANG'S, YA ASIAN FUSION COMIC! "
There's usually 4-5 standard questions (How you doing, got anything coming up, you hitting another mic after this, you ever go to Marty's?) and if there's no conversation beyond that, we're not really friends. It's just surface level pleasantries for insecure comics.
Then there are just genuinely great dudes like Spencer Kalendar, who's never putting on airs and makes me feel like I can just be myself. I think the very first thing he said to me was,
"I remember you from Kill Tony, you're the pedophile guy!"
