One month to go!
It’s hard to believe, but there is only one month until the 2019 Miss Fisher Con! The Adventuresses are incredibly busy getting everything ready on this end, and we’re sure you are too! Amidst all the excitement and panic-packing, just a few reminders:
Masquerade
Friday evening’s dinner and masquerade is always a blast, and we can’t wait to see what you have in store for us this year! You can compete for prizes or simply strut your stuff on the catwalk. Registration is open to all con attendees--check out the 2019 Con page for all the information!
Hotel
Due to high demand, we have sold out all the double rooms at the Westin! We have secured double-queen rooms at the San Jose Marriott (directly across the street from the Westin) for a special rate of US$249 per night. But be quick--this is only good until July 8th!
Click here to book online for our special negotiated rate. If you prefer to call in your reservation (408-280-1300), be sure to tell them you are with Miss Fisher Con to lock in this great price!
Black Scarab
There are still tickets available for our Saturday evening murder-mystery event The Curse of the Black Scarab. Transportation to and from the Rosicrucian Egyptian Museum is included, and it promises to be great fun!
 Dinner & Day Tickets
Can’t make the whole weekend? Have a friend who wants to join us for the dinner and masquerade Friday evening? Both one-day and dinner-only tickets can be purchased via our website. Tickets involving meals are available until July 12th, so don’t delay!
Tumblr media
Miss Fisher Con 2019 will be held July 25-257th at The Westin San Jose in San Jose, California. Registration is currently available to ACotA members and non-members. Can’t make the whole weekend? Single day tickets are also available--head over to our website for all the details, and make sure to have a peek at our schedule to see what great things we have in store!

Miss Fisher Con 2019 Itinerary (1)
Just arrived San Jose, California, for Miss Fisher Con 2019. I look forward to catching up with old friends and meeting new ones in the next 3 days at Westin San Jose. According to Wikipedia, the six-story historical hotel was built in 1926 and is one of the city's most recognized architectural landmarks. Sounds like an excellent venue for the event.
For those who can’t make it in person, I will be posting the itinerary as the con progresses. However, I don’t do live blogging, so if you are interested in seeing photos from the sessions, I recommend the Instagram page of adventuresses_club_americas or search for #MissFisherCon2019 or #MissFisherCon on various social media platforms.

It’s Bidding Time!
Tumblr media
The Adventuresses’ Club of the Americas is holding a fundraising auction with fantastic swag donated by Acorn (distributor for the upcoming film Miss Fisher and the Crypt of Tears), Poisoned Pen Press (publisher of Kerry Greenwood's novels for the North American audience) and some of our amazing Adventuresses!
With ten auction items up for grabs--including amazing fan-created artworks on paper, in cross-stitch, and as a wall quilt; a scarf and brooch from Marion Boyce’s Miss Fisher collection (no longer available); gift sets for book lovers, avid rewatchers, community-minded fans, and admirers of Ms Greenwood herself; and an exclusive Cast and Crew Gift from the upcoming Miss Fisher and the Crypt of Tears--there is something for everyone. Want to know more? We'll be spotlighting each item here over the next few days.
Tumblr media
The auction will close at 10:00 pm ET on August 9, 2019. Bid early and bid often, because once it’s gone, it’s gone!
ACotA is a volunteer-run nonprofit organization on a mission to bring together the fans of Miss Fisher’s Murder Mysteries, and all proceeds from the auction will go to fund Miss Fisher Con and ACotA operating expenses. Head over to missfishercon.com to learn more about us.

Miss Fisher Con 2019 Itinerary (4)
I look forward to meeting Greg J Walker who composed and selected all the music we hear on the show and in the upcoming movie. His Wikipedia page (under Machine Translations – his performing name) says that he “completed his tertiary studies in Shanghai with a degree in Linguistics and Mandarin Chinese”. It will be wild if I get to converse with him in Mandarin and have him sign the autograph in Chinese.

Miss Fisher Con 2019 Itinerary (11)
Finally, it’s time for me to hop on the plane. Congratulations to the ladies of the con planning committee for another year of successful event. Words cannot express my admiration and gratitude toward every single one of you. You are simply the best! Hopefully, we will have seen the movie by the next Miss Fisher Con and can add it to the discussions.
********************
p.s. Technically, the 2015 New York Meetup is not a “Miss Fisher Con”. However, since it’s the largest and the most organized MFMM fan event before the con’s inauguration in 2017, and a number of its attendees have continued to participate in the Miss Fisher Con, I have always counted it as one. Some of them couldn’t make it this time, regrettably. I miss them and hope to see them again next year.

Much Ado About Masquerades
With only ten days until Miss Fisher Con 2019, we hope you’ve signed up for the Friday night masquerade!
Tumblr media
The fans always stun us with their creativity and attention to detail at the masquerade, as photos from the past years show. With three prize categories and a catwalk for those more interested in the thrill, there’s something for everyone. The categories are:
Haute Couture -- at least 75% handmade costumes "of the era"
Prêt-à-Porter -- less than 75% handmade, evoking a character or idea from the show
Ensemble -- group costumes; no restrictions on handmade/purchased elements
The Catwalk -- strut your stuff for the fun of it
The deadline to register for prize categories is Sunday, July 21, so you only have a few days left! Head over to missfishercon.com for all the details and to register. We can’t wait to see what y’all have for us this year!

Miss Fisher Con 2019 Itinerary (10)
The official Miss Fisher Con sessions ended yesterday. Since my flight home is not until later tonight, I plan on spending the majority of today exploring the Rosicrucian Egyptian Museum. For those who are leaving early, I bid you farewell with a few photos of the upcoming movie “Miss Fisher and the Crypt of Tears”. I am sure we are all looking forward to February 20, 2020!

Miss Fisher Con 2019 Itinerary (8)
The hosts of the popular Podcast “Every Lady Needs a Hobby”, MacKenzie and Genevieve, will do a special edition of live taping! The disclaimer indicates that this session “contains adult themes; attendees 18 and older only, please.” Very intriguing.
Following the Podcast is episode rewatch. We all have been rewatching each episode multiple times on our own, but it’s more enjoyable watching it with a roomful of crazy fellow fans.
The last item on the agenda is “The Curse of the Black Scarab” – an interactive, team-based story event in which you get to solve a murder at the Rosicrucian Egyptian Museum! After two days of fun and excitement, I don’t have the energy to play Lady Detective. Instead, I plan on going out to dinner with a small group and talk everything Miss Fisher.
