I think there's something very special about coming back online to an ask detailling feelings of disgust and disillusionment with Apollo and some of the tellings of the less than savoury ways he acquired/defined his power in myths. Like, I think that's very fair and very normal and it's okay to have to grapple with whether or not you're okay with supporting such things and I'll never be upset at such a conclusion, but I do think it's something special.
Mostly because it makes me earnestly wonder after what a person's experience with gods and spirits of the earth and their stories was like before stumbling into these sorts of cultural spaces. I know people have many moral and ethical beliefs and many more people truly think that in order to admire and appreciate a figure, they must be something of a role model - or, at the very least, representative of some facet of one's beliefs/values but, to my knowledge, no god is innocent and there are none who don't have blood on their hands.
I dunno, a part of me wants to wax poetic about how gods and mythical figures are just as much representations and reflections of the state of their believers as they influence those who are under their protection but the other part of me just earnestly hopes I didn't accidentally ruin someone's view of a figure I myself hold in great esteem just because I embrace and find great beauty in his dichotomous nature while others prefer to laser focus on the aspects that bring them comfort.
Idk, it's just stuff to think about, I suppose.
