MISCERVUS

my own take on a misceverse based off of ELK behaviors and such!! dynamics, extra terms, hormonal cycles, all under the cut! caps warning, all /not mad

DYNAMICS

(not exclusively males) > BULLS - [similiar to alphas] (typically) leaders, loud in volume usually, usually drawn to a handful of cows at a time (not for mating purposes, its like 'the token straight friend in a queer friend group')

> STAGS - [similiar to betas] sensitive, calm, romantic, unobtrusive, mediators

(not exclusively females) > COWS (also called DOES) - [similar to omegas] nurturing, sweet, keep to themselves a lot

EXTRA INFO

☆ only bulls and stags can sire calves, regardless of primary sex

☆ SPIKING (referring to spikes, yearling bull elk) (vaguely derogatory towards cows, as it implies that cows are young and immature): similar to bitching - process of a bull becoming a doe, through whatever manner and for whatever reason

☆ TROPHYING (comes from the term 'trophy' for a bull elk that is 6-10 years old): basically kinging, opposite of spiking, process of a cow becoming a bull, through whatever manner and for whatever reason

☆ VELVETING (from when elk antlers velvet and fall off, before growing back): common symptom before a rut happens - bulls and anyone else that experiences rut get an urge to cut their hair and possibly other physical features, such as fashion ("i feel like velveting)

☆ IVORIES: alternative, traditional name for fangs

☆ CAPE: nape of the neck and the top of the shoulders, where dynamics are drawn to for scent/scentmarking

☆ CALVES: pups

☆ BUGLE/BUGLING: similar to growling in miscecanis, but miscervus bugles arent similar to proper elk, its a high pitched whine commonly heard during rut from bulls and others that experience it, to draw cows nearby. cows can also bugle, they are generally quieter and deeper-sounding

HORMONAL CYCYLES:

estrus often happens during late summer/early fall and rut during fall from september to october but theyre both possible at any time, typically triggered by others cycles and ones own personal arousal/stress levels

☆ ESTRUS (most often cows): generally lasts from 3 days to a week, restlessness, high levels of arousal, increased bugling, increased urination, smelling different, being drawn to spend more time around bulls and stags, increased slick production, increased attempts to scent others or to be scented/scentmarked

☆ RUT (most often bulls): generally lasts from 5-10 days, typically get more physically active (to show off prowess), irritation with individuals of the same dynamic or others experiencing rut, spending a lot of time around other dynamics, pretty similar to estrus but much more active

also doe and cow are interchangeable, female elk are called cows but i like the word doe more for aesthetics

ill be adding onto this when i think of stuff/find things ive already written by forgot. then eventually id like to make a Carrd for this to look nice and put-together. any questions or asks about clearing something up are welcome, id looove to talk about this and maybe find others that can align themselves with this if theyd like! also if theres anything that might help for visibility text-wise and such, please let me know, i will edit this!

looking to start working out again, and i know my mate would enjoy the benefits of me doing so (being able to throw them around easier.. and enjoying my muscles)

also just thinking about it makes me feel so euphoric as an Alpha - ive had trouble with keeping with exercising in the past (ADHD, body image issues etc) but knowing that id be stronger, getting toned, id start getting attention from others because of it... very Alpha-y feelings for me :)

i want to den so bad, its not much different than an Omega's nest, but i just keep ignoring this need of mine.

i want nice big pretty curtains to hang up around my bed, my Mate's blankets (i wouldnt just steal them from him, we'd cuddle up, itd be our bed, his blankets are comfier than mine and smell like them), a nice little wave light projector, a couple spritzes of a perfume or cologne that reminds me of my Mate (or just them, and to bury my face in his neck), and to put on thunderstorm sounds and curl up in my cozy comfy den

i personally am an Alpha, but im not the idea of one that a lot of verses or people have in mind. im not socially dominant, im not very confident or physically active or stuff like that. i dunno, its similar to being a therian or queer for me, its just something that i Know.

and because id be considered an atypical/non-conforming Alpha then, ive taken a look at trinary dynamics, like Delta and Xi. the links included are @omegai 's definitions

🌙 . What is your scent? Why do you think that's your scent?

these are my self-assigned ones:

leather, because its a very comforting smell to me, makes me think of home in a way (not a place ive lived but the idea of home)

citrus, because its a scent that my Mate has assigned me and its also comforting to me. i love clementine oranges a lot and enjoy smelling citrus-y

sea air, because the ocean is very important to me (childhood memories + being mercreaturekin.)

im not sure, id say that im plural at least but not necessarily a system. and no, i dont think it does. i think its very interesting when it does for others

primarily with my Mate, im the one that exposed them to the concept actually, and since then, we've explored our relationship in some areas through the lense of Alpha and Omega. outside of him, not very much, except for like growling, ive (admittedly, quietly) growled at friends before, and it can be passed off as a stim or something

🔊 . primarily growling, and that can be for anything, but my mate has expressed to me that it makes him uncomfortable so i try not to do it. i dont know what to call the other noise i make, maybe a trill? but its my mercreature 'type noise and i guess that counts as a subvocal, and i make it when im shifty as a mercreature and as a vocal stim when im excited

🎨 . beyond miscecanis and keeping it PG, probably defining verse's terms. its very fun worldbuilding, especially for miscervus which ive never seen a deer verse be talked about indepth before, sadly

💰 . knotted dildo, honestly. very euphoric thinking about it. this isnt something ill be able to have any time soon, but a big pet bed thing? like those giant nest beds, itd be awesome to make a canopy and make one of those into my den/my mate's nest.

hey yall, i finallt have this done up a good bit and made into a proper post if anyone would like to see what i came up with!!

so, the misceverse community is incredibly based around miscanis cuz yknow omegaverse being based on the theory of wolf heirachies. and i dont often see non-miscecanis 'verses so as an elk therian, im thinking about worldbuilding on a 'verse based around elk. i only so far have bulls (the alpha equivalent), stags (beta equivalent), and does/cows (interchangable, i like the word doe better but i Know rhat female elk are called cows) (omega equivalent.) id identify myself as an alpha in other areas, and i fit my idea of bulls, so it feels euphoric to refer to myself as such, because my elk theriotype neomata doesnt really include any sex or gender characteristics anyhow

id love to see other elk therians or other elk 'verses own experiences with this

im tryna think of misceverse names for a 'verse based on elk, right now i have 'miscervus', mix of misceverse and cervus cuz the first try at combining them was 'miscecervus' and that feels redundant
