Just going to leave this here. . . .

Mio came to a stop in front of Zoe on the opposite side of the desk. Leaning over, she placed her palms carefully on the surface, careful not to disturb any of her notes. “Can I ask why exactly it bothers you?”

No! She almost said it aloud, too. She was grateful that she didn’t. “It… makes me uncomfortable.”

Mio’s smile turned mischievous then, and Zoe’s stomach fluttered in reaction to it. “Ever care to ask yourself why me smiling at you in admiration bothers you so much?”

“Ever care to ask yourself why you come to my room to smile at me in ‘admiration’ so much?” Zoe shot back defensively, placing her hands on the desk beside Mio’s as she pushed to her feet as well.

She stared directly back at Mio, challengingly.

Mio chuckled, eyes flickering down to Zoe’s lips. “Touché.”

Wait…. Did she just…? No. Absolutely not!

But Mio was talking again, distracting her from her own spiralling thoughts on whether or not she had started hallucinating.

“Maybe it’s because there’s a lot to admire about you,” Mio said, voice softer, though with a hint of her amusement still there as she continued. “You know, when you look past all the weird.”

“I’m weird?” Zoe questioned in bewilderment, scoffing. “I’m the weird one? Right.”

Mio hummed in affirmation as she reached forward to slide her hand over the back of Zoe’s neck, breathing out, “So weird,” as she tugged her head forward and brought their lips together.

Okay, but can y'all imagine how cute it would be for Mio to show Zoe all her favorite places and things in the city, and though before they would have overwhelmed her Zoe now thinks they're lovely because she sees Mio in them? And Zoe giving Mio that country girl life for a little, and though she would have made fun of it before Mio thinking it's calm and comforting and reminds her of everything Zoe?

Work-in-Progress Wednesday

There seem to be quite a few of us on here waiting for more Mio x Zoe, so have another little snippet for another one of my pieces.

Zoe mumbled, “Would you quit moving around so much?”

“I can’t get comfortable,” Mio groaned.

“Well, then move around more carefully, because I am plenty comfortable and wish to get some sleep,” Zoe sighed, hugging the pillow closer to her chest. But then, Mio shifted again, and her hand knocked into her shoulder, pulling a startled sound from her at the sudden bolt of ice that shot through her. Shooting a glare over her shoulder, she asked, “Would you be so kind to keep those things to yourself? I don’t mean to wake up a popsicle!”

“I’m sorry, Your Highness! What things? Oh, wait, do you mean… these?”

Along with the emphasis on the word, Mio unexpectedly grabbed hold of Zoe’s forearm with both hands, the action causing immediate goose-flesh.

“Hey!” Zoe exclaimed, tugging her arm from Mio’s grasp.

Or, at least she tried to. Mio followed her, however, sliding her hands over her arm and up to her shoulder. “Keep them to myself you say? You got a problem with me touching you?”

“Yes! Your hands are freezing!” When Mio just placed her cold hands against her face and neck in response, Zoe tossed her arms back in an attempt to shake her off. “Mio, quit it! You’re being childish!” Instead of stopping, Mio only slid her hands beneath Zoe’s shirt, flattening both of her hands against her back. “Oh, that’s it!”

Zoe turned around, wrestling with a laughing Mio attempting to tickle her until she managed to pin those freezing hands against their owner’s stomach and lay down on top of them to trap them there. As she settled on top of Mio, she released a heavy breath and rested her face comfortably on Mio’s chest, “You’re absolutely insufferable sometimes, you know that?”

“I, uh…. Yep.”

Sighing contentedly due to the brief response, Zoe whispered, “That’s much better.”

“You’re just gonna…” Mio cleared her throat, “sleep there?”

“Oh, absolutely!” Zoe replied cheerfully, making a bit of a show out of getting even more comfortable.

“You kinda feel like a weighted blanket.”

“Good, now shush!”

Allrighty, folks! I think we need to officially decide on a ship name for these two lovebirds, because we're all obviously obsessed.

I don't know how many of y'all will see this, but I'll shoot for it anyway! I'll be putting up all the ones I've seen discussed in posts or tags, and anything my silly little brain can think of.

Okay, so following up on the first poll with the information that the two options in the lead are both already active tags on tumblr, meaning we would have to search through lots of another ship's or character's content just to find our stuff for Zoe and Mio.

I checked them all in the tags section to see if they're already taken, and it looks like we don't have a lot of options if we want to make sure we don't have to search through other ships for our stuff.

An example for option three would be something like "Cyber Shifters", incorporating Mio's Cyber Ninjas and Zoe's Shapeshifters (I know it's bad, it's just an example, and hopefully someone is better at it than I am).
