Harley-Davidson Sportster Seventy-Two: A Tribute to the Classic Chopper Era
The Harley-Davidson Sportster Seventy-Two is more than just a motorcycle; it’s a nostalgic nod to the iconic choppers of the 1970s. This bike, with its classic design and modern performance, stands as a testament to Harley-Davidson's ability to blend vintage charm with contemporary engineering.
If you're drawn to the freedom and style of the chopper era, the Seventy-Two might just be the bike that captures your spirit.

A Retro Aesthetic
The Seventy-Two's design is a throwback to the days when customization and self-expression were king. The bike's slim frame, large front wheel, and peanut tank are all reminiscent of the custom choppers that roared down the highways during the '70s.
The bike is available in several classic color schemes, but the Hard Candy Custom paint option is particularly eye-catching, with its deep, glittering finish that screams vintage cool.
Key Features
1. 1200cc Evolution® Engine: The heart of the Seventy-Two is its air-cooled, 1200cc Evolution® engine, a hallmark of the Sportster line. This powerful V-Twin delivers 73 lb-ft of torque, providing the raw power and distinctive rumble that Harley-Davidson riders crave.
The engine is tuned to deliver smooth, responsive acceleration, making it ideal for both city cruising and highway riding.
2. Mini-Ape Handlebars: The 10-inch mini-ape handlebars not only contribute to the bike's old-school chopper look but also offer a comfortable, laid-back riding position. This setup allows riders to cruise in style without sacrificing comfort, even on longer rides.
3. Whitewall Tires: The Seventy-Two rolls on 21-inch spoke wheels with classic whitewall tires, further enhancing its retro appeal. These tires not only look the part but also provide excellent grip and stability, ensuring a smooth ride.
4. Chrome Laced Wheels: The chrome-laced wheels add a touch of shine to the bike’s overall aesthetic. They are a perfect match for the chrome accents found throughout the bike, from the exhaust pipes to the engine covers.
5. Low Profile Solo Seat: The low-slung solo seat is a classic feature that not only adds to the bike’s sleek profile but also positions the rider close to the ground, enhancing control and comfort. This seat is designed for solo riding, emphasizing the bike's stripped-down, no-nonsense attitude.
Performance and Ride Experience
While the Seventy-Two’s design is firmly rooted in the past, its performance is anything but outdated. The 1200cc engine delivers plenty of power, while the lightweight frame and narrow profile make it surprisingly agile for a bike with such a long front end.
The suspension is tuned to provide a comfortable ride without sacrificing the bike’s signature low-slung look.
Riders will appreciate the Seventy-Two’s balance between style and substance. Whether cruising through the city or taking on the open road, the bike handles with confidence and ease.
The combination of the mini-ape handlebars and forward controls creates a relaxed riding position, perfect for long, leisurely rides.
The Seventy-Two Legacy
The Harley-Davidson Sportster Seventy-Two was introduced in 2012 as part of Harley’s Dark Custom series, which aimed to bring classic styling back to the forefront.
Although the Seventy-Two has been discontinued, it remains a beloved model among Harley enthusiasts. Its unique blend of retro aesthetics and modern performance makes it a sought-after bike for collectors and riders alike.
Conclusion
The Harley-Davidson Sportster Seventy-Two is a bike that appeals to those who appreciate the classic chopper style but don’t want to compromise on modern reliability and performance. It’s a tribute to a bygone era of motorcycling, with enough power and character to make it a standout on today’s roads.
Whether you’re a seasoned rider or a newcomer drawn to the timeless appeal of Harley-Davidson, the Seventy-Two offers a ride that is as stylish as it is exhilarating.

These bikes are in production and the tires are a little different they're better than what you see here and the motor is of on ours and the frame is stronger a lot of them are building it like it used to be built. There are 20 manufacturers globally seven of them build one that are similar to ours how but it's the same shape and we're doing that too 13 are kind of crappy but that's what kind of time it is all together they're building about 5 trillion a week and we anticipate that's going to shoot up to 10 trillion a week this week and next week will be probably about 30 trillion and they're going to be as many of these as there are many mini. This is an incredible week these are shooting through the roof and a symbolic and the more luck are going nuts for them it's a lot of sales and the sales are going through the roof hours are not hard to spot I guess they are we use the original insignia not the newer one and people can see that and we make a lot of them and I wasn't fast and sturdy and ride like a real chopper and have shocks in the rear and the other ones don't and you stay on the road now let's go over 220 mph with a 250 but the 49cc chopper like this those about 110 with our son on it will go about 80 not recommending it for him because he's too fat

These early modified motorcycles were known as "bobbers", and there are many common features between bobbers and choppers, with choppers differentiated by more radical modifications, especially frame tube and geometry modifications ("chopped" by welding) intended to make the bike longer. The first choppers were built in America, and were an outgrowth of the milder customization trend that had originated after WW2 when returning soldiers and others began modifying cars and motorcycles, frequently to improve performance in top-speed races on dry lake beds in Southern California and similar desolate spaces such as unused airstrips in other parts of the country, or on the street for street racing. Motorcycles and automobiles ran at the same meets, and bobbers were an important part of the hotrod culture that developed in this era. In California dry lake beds were used for long top speed runs. These machines were lightened to improve performance for dirt-track racing and mud racing. The large, spring-suspended saddles were also removed in order to sit as low as possible on the motorcycle's frame. In the post–World War II United States, servicemen returning home from the war started removing all parts deemed too big, heavy, ugly, or not essential to the basic function of the motorcycle, such as fenders, turn indicators, and even front brakes. The large and well-appointed bikes exemplified the "dresser" motorcycle aesthetic and providing a counterpoint to the minimalist bobber, and café racers.

Indian Scouts and Chiefs of the time came with extravagantly large, heavily valanced fenders, nearly reaching the center of the wheel on the luxurious 1941 Indian Series 441 while racing bikes had tiny fenders or none at all. The heavily valanced fenders of the 1940 Indian 440 four.Īn early example of a bobber is the 1940 Indian Sport Scout "Bob-Job" which toured in the 1998 The Art of the Motorcycle exhibition. Two famous examples of the chopper are customised Harley-Davidsons, the " Captain America" and "Billy Bike", seen in the 1969 film Easy Rider. The " sissy bar", a set of tubes that connect the rear fender with the frame, and which are often extended several feet high, is a signature feature on many choppers. Some of the characteristic features of choppers are long front ends with extended forks often coupled with an increased rake angle, hardtail frames (frames without rear suspension), very tall "ape hanger" or very short "drag" handlebars, lengthened or stretched frames, and larger than stock front wheels. They can be built from an original motorcycle which is modified ("chopped") or built from scratch. A chopper employs radically modified steering angles and lengthened forks for a stretched-out appearance. Peter Fonda rides a replica of the " Captain America" bike used in Easy RiderĪ chopper is a type of custom motorcycle which emerged in the US state of California in the late 1950s.

Top Five Harley-Davidson Sportsters, Part One: Ironheads
Harley-Davidson has just rebooted one of the world’s longest-running model lines, with the launch of the new Sportster S. But remarkably, it’s only the third major engine update in the Sportster’s 60-plus years on this earth.
Before the new Revolution Max-powered Sportster S came, we had the Evolution motor that debuted in 1986. And before that, the iconic Ironhead. But throughout each era, the Sportster has always been a mainstay of the custom scene.
To celebrate, we’ve rounded up our ten favorite Sportster builds, divided by their motors. This week, we’re featuring five top-shelf Ironheads from some of the world’s best custom builders—including illustrious names like Max Hazan [above] and Hideya Togashi [below].
Next week, it’s the Evo’s turn.
Hide Motorcycle There’s a long history of Japan’s love for Americana, and the humble Sportster is no exception. Case in point: this Ironhead Sportster by Hideya Togashi of Hide Motorcycle (that’s ‘Hee-day’). It was one of the stars of 2018’s Mooneyes show—a show that Togashi-san is a regular fixture at.
The bike’s built around an original but refurbished 1966 XLCH motor, complete with a Linkert DC-7 carb. But the rest of it is mostly is custom, and it was built without any specific style or theme in mind. “As always, I cherish the balance, and maximize the beauty,” says Hideya.
The motor sits in a scratch-built nickel-plated hardtail frame, with the OEM frame number plate grafted on. Hideya kept the original steering head, triples and forks, but added custom sleeves. The Harley rolls on 21F/18R wheels with drum brakes.
Hideya fabricated the aluminum headlight nacelle and fuel tank, and built the oil tank. The rear fender’s been scalped from a vintage Harley FX Super Glide, then modified to suit. Swept back bars and a pair of beautifully-bent nickel-plated exhausts add to the vintage vibe.
The paint’s extra classy too—a 1930s Harley scheme laid down by Skop Paint Works. Hide’s Ironhead blends vintage speedway and flat track styles together to create a minimalistic and impossibly cool machine. The perfect use of an Ironhead motor. [More]
Hot Chop Speed Shop Here’s another bike that stopped visitors to the 2018 Mooneyes event dead in their tracks: a twin-engined Harley drag bike by Kentaro Nakano at Hot Chop Speed Shop in Kyoto. Using two Sportster XLCH engines, Nakano-san built the monster as a tribute to the drag racers of the 70s.
Unsurprisingly, it picked up two awards at the show—from the top Japanese mags, Hot Bike and Vibes.
‘Double Trouble’ uses a 1969 Ironhead in front, with an older engine at the rear. Both run with S&S Super B carbs, fitted with custom velocity stacks. Kentaro’s friend Kazuhiro Takahashi of Sakai Boring helped rebuild the engines.
The two V-twins are linked by connecting plates, and their output shafts are connected to two separate primaries. The transmission’s a four-speed from a 1980s Big Twin and Kentaro has set the timing of the two motors so that they go ‘potato potato’ at idle, but scream at high revs.
The whole arrangement is housed in a custom hardtail frame, fabricated from steel tubing. There’s a set of early 70s Ducati Imola forks up front, with 18” rims at both ends wrapped in M&H drag slicks. Kentaro installed a pair of Airheart brakes up front, with a Wilwood brake out back.
All of the bodywork was fabricated in aluminum, from scratch. Fuel sits in the cylindrical reservoir up front, with oil held in the seat ‘cowl.’ Custom upholstery from Atelier Cherry adds to the period-correct look.
Double Trouble’s finished off with a narrow set of custom drag bars, with a 1970s H-D tacho out front. The bodywork’s been left raw, with tidy Hot Chop Speed Shop decals on the tank. Buttoned up, it’s both elegant and monstrous. [More]
Hazan Motorworks Max Hazan’s work speaks for itself, but what’s remarkable is that the American builder’s had an unmistakable signature from day one. If you don’t believe us, then consider the fact that this Sportster-powered artwork was only his fourth build.
“I start with a motor that I find aesthetically pleasing, put it on the table, and build the bike around it,” Max told us back then. In this case, the motor is exquisite. Max built it up with two 1981 Ironhead front heads, split the rocker covers and added matching Amal carbs.
The frame was built from 7/8” and 1” steel tubes, and also holds the oil and wiring. The front-end’s a work of art on its own; it uses two springs under the fuel tank, and a damper behind the headlight. The only rear suspension is a pair of springs under the seat, with about 1.5” of travel.
Max had a set of 1920s car tires in his hands, so he built the bike up with a 30” wheel out front, and a 31” hoop at the back. They suit the scale of the bike too—which measures eight feet long, but weighs just 300 lbs.
Almost everything was fashioned by hand, using metal that was lying around the workshop, or, in some cases, small salvaged parts. There’s a frosted shot glass as a taillight cover, and a porcelain doorknob on the hand shifter. The handmade tank only holds 1.5 gallons… but Max is under no illusions about his creation having to be ridden far.
Eight years on, this Ironhead still stands as one of our favorite Harleys—nay, customs—and some of Max’s best work. [More]
HardNine Choppers The 1979 Harley-Davidson XLCR is arguably too rare to be customized these days, but the owner of this Sporty has three. So he had no qualms about handing one over to Swiss builder Danny Schneider for a makeover.
Danny, who operates as HardNine Choppers, is an ex-motocrosser who had previously built two Triumph flat trackers, and was itching to give a Harley the same treatment. So he took on the project with the provision that he could turn it into a tracker. Luckily, the client agreed.
Danny’s work went deep—starting with the motor that he bored out from 997 cc to 1,340 cc, with KB Performance pistons. The carb is from the Harley performance specialists, S&S Cycle, and the exhaust is a custom nickel-plated system that exits under the seat. Danny had to relocate the oil tank to accommodate it.
The custom fuel tank echoes the lines of the original XLCR unit, but it’s actually a slimmer, split design (the left side houses the oil). Danny hand-shaped an aluminum tail section too, with slits to help dissipate heat. He made the seat pad himself, too.
Suspension is by way of Showa shocks from an FXR, fitted with Öhlins cartridges, and Bitubo rear shocks. It rolls on 21F/16R spoked wheels, with a Beringer brake set that Danny drove to the French company’s HQ to have made.
This XLCR is a clever mix of classic style and modern parts, tied together with a host of custom touches and a fresh paint job inspired by a mini-bike spotted on the street (true story).
It’s also a great story of perseverance; Danny took a two-year break in the middle of the project to welcome his daughter into the world and battle testicular cancer. Then he crammed two month’s worth of 15-hour days in to finish it in time for the MBE Expo show in Verona, Italy. Much respect. [More]
DP Customs We’ve featured a slew of slammed and hot-rodded Harleys from the now-defunct DP Customs over the years, but this was one of their wildest. Brothers Jarrod and Justin Del Prado built it as a personal project between client jobs, using Justin’s own 1000 cc 1979 Ironhead Sportster as a donor.
DP Customs went all-out, starting with a turbo that had been sitting in the shop waiting for the right project.
The motor was rebuilt with forged pistons and new valves and springs, then the turbo was installed with a custom draw-through setup, and a Mikuni carb. From the custom aluminum intake and exhaust, to the custom oil system that runs into a Mooneyes tank, it’s an impressive setup.
Like three of the other Harleys on this list, this one features a scratch-built hardtail frame. It uses DP Customs’ signature 6” stretch and 4” drop, with a custom 19” wheel up front, and a modified 15” car wheel at the back. The front brake’s a Brembo, and the rear is a custom system with a combination sprocket and rotor.
Up top is a wafer-thin seat, with a traditional peanut tank up front. DP Customs installed clip-ons with Biltwell Inc. grips, and head- and taillights—but there’s no speedo, and no turn signals. The asymmetrical paint job, red frame and gold wheels should clash, but somehow they harmonize, maximizing the Harley’s eye candy appeal.
DP Customs admit the bike wasn’t built with practicality in mind, summing up that “it hauls ass in a straight line, and the brakes work.” [More]

The Rising Sun Workshop x Young Henrys Custom Postie Bike Chopper – The Hopper
The Postie Bike is an Australian institution, they’re a lightly modified version of the Honda CT110 specifically built for Australia Post – an Australian government institution famous for its ability to find new and creative ways to not deliver your mail.
This custom Postie Bike chopper was built as a collaborative effort between the Rising Sun Workshop and Young Henrys, two iconic Sydney establishments that are very high on the must see list for visitors to the harbour city who have a soft spot for motorcycles, or beer, or motorcycles and beer.
The Rising Sun Workshop
The Rising Sun Workshop is a motorcycle workshop and award winning restaurant, with elements of both a bar and a cafe thrown in for good measure. Anyone can go visit for coffee, tea, beer, lunch or dinner. Locals can sign up and become members, allowing them to bring their motorcycle in and work on it using one of four hydraulics lifts, with fully appointed tool kits and workshop equipment.
Perhaps most importantly there’s also a resident master motorcycle mechanic on site named Brad Coles, who provides advice, guidance, and assistance to people who have limited experience working on engines. Brad is known for having the skill and patience levels of a Shaolin monk and he’s a talented off-road rider to boot.
Young Henrys
We’ve featured the work of Young Henrys on Silodrome previously, they’re a rapidly growing craft brewery in Sydney located just down the road from the Rising Sun Workshop in Newtown, not far south of the CBD. The brewery has been going from strength to strength since it was founded in 2012 by Richard Adamson and Oscar McMahon.
The team are known for their frequent releases of limited edition batches, and for their welcoming bar that operates right out of the brewery inside an old warehouse. One of these limited edition batches was called Motorcycle Oil after its rich dark color, and another was “Foo Town” lager, a special beer created in collaboration with the Foo Fighters to celebrate their ninth studio album and their “Concrete and Gold” tour down under.
The Hopper – A Custom Postie Bike Chopper
The familiar purr of the Postie Bike is immediately familiar to all Australians, it usually means the junk mail has arrived. Thousands of retired Postie Bikes have now been sold into private hands and they’re proven popular as cheap daily transport.
This Postie is unlike any other, it’s the result of a months long project at Rising Sun Workshop involving dozens of workshop regulars and staff, all captained by resident wrench Brad.
The primary goal was to turn the Postie into an eye-catching and entirely unique custom motorcycle that could be displayed at music festivals, be put into liquor stores, bars, and pubs that stock Young Henrys beer, and most importantly, the bike had to function as a draught beer dispenser including a tap, hoses, and cooling. You just park the bike next to a keg, hook it up, and you’ve got ice cold draught beer on tap.
Fitting all that equipment onto a CT110 with its 87 kilogram (192 pound) kerb weight was always going to be a challenge, the choice to make the bike into an Easy Rider-inspired chopper made it more challenging still.
At this point I’m going to turn it over to Brad to explain the fabrication-intensive build in his own words:
We had a meeting at RSW, threw out some ideas on what we wanted it to look like, and took a lot of influences from the 70’s Easy Rider chopper scene. The bike had to have the ability to pour beer from it somehow. It had to be a rideable and registed bike, and had to be over the top.
From that meeting, I drew up a sketch of the bike, and then it was all built from that original sketch.
The fabrication work was quite involved, from the hand bent sissy bar, and forklift tires that would allow the fitment of a custom made mini pallet that allowed a “magic box” to be mounted. The magic box is a special esky (an Australian beer cooler) that allows the beer to be chilled down through the lines as it comes from the keg.
A springer front end was fitted to the bike, and lengthened 150mm. We fitted different wheels to the original hubs, and went with a 19” front, and 16” rear. With the front end and wheels changed, we now needed the frame stretched, so that also got 150mm length added into it. We made up special jigs to allow the frame and front end to be welded back together and remain straight and true. All of that work has been reinforced correctly to maintain structural integrity of the bike.
We hand-bent and welded up the very narrow handlebars, as well as fitted a 5 litre mini keg onto the backbone to supply the fuel to the bike, that runs through a hand bent copper line, that resembles a line on a still. It also conveniently holds a beer can, for display purposes only of course.
The seat pan was made from alloy, hand bent, shaped and welded up, then had it custom trimmed in 70’s metal flake vinyl. The gold and white colours of the seat are meant to resemble the colour of a beer, and beer head. Naturally we also had to get custom length cables made to fit.
We used the original lower frame support, but modified it to fit the new frame length with some custom detail pieces, like the spanner shape that connects the frame to the support. It now has forward control foot pegs, with a custom-made brake linkage fitted. Being a centrifugal clutch meant we could also make a hand shifter, that incorporates the old brewery tasting bar counter top beer tap handle.
The bike also has a custom exhaust with a 70’s style kick up at the back.
We had some alloy plates cut and machined for branding, as well as allowing the beer decal to be placed when being used at events. We also fitted a set of twin rectangle “Dixie” headlights that came out of Japan. Purpose Built Moto blinkers, and a mini speedo. Almost everything else is the original equipment like footpegs, controls etc, or been custom made for the bike.
The biggest challenge on this build was time. We had members help on the build, and that was always going to be the case, but like everyone, life gets in the way, so building a custom bike takes a back seat. We had many delays with the bike, like motorcycle accidents, deadlines shifting, running a workshop, overseas holidays and as the collaboration was always about building an amazing bike on a small budget, the labor or build hours would just be put in whenever possible. It did mean a bunch of 16 hour days, but the end result speaks for itself.
I don’t know how many hours went into the build, but it is safe to say between everyone involved, with everything around the build, including filming social media short videos etc we would have hundreds and hundreds of hours in it.

MINI BIKE CHOPPER HONDA FULL
I require the full payment amount at auction end through Paypal. if more time is needed ask first before bidding. I will keep the bike in my garage for 30 days after auction ends. I will not ship this bike so if you buy it you are responsible for pickup or delivery. Or you can arrange your own pickup for shipping. If you buy it, you can pick it up at my residence in Weatherford Texas. Nice little bike to just ride or restore. Overall this is a nice good running 50 that has been modified at some point. Someone has welded a bolt to the handlebars but they are solid and work fine. the front tire is not original but gets the job done and bike drives good. The bike starts on the first kick and runs good. I thinks this is a late 60s or early 70s Honda Mini trail 50. Click on the following link and it will be worth the short time it takes to load to see the quality I put into the bikes. Lastly a artist friend of mine saw what I did and a couple of years ago made me one cute video. (E-bay makes the seller choose a status for a title and none apply here.) Under no circumstances will this bike leave without payment in full. The bike is sold for personal use and will come only with a notarized BOS. The buyer will have a $500.00 non-refundable deposit with the remaining balance due in 7 days. The buyer will be responsible to pick up locally and / or arrange shipping. The bike is also advertised locally and I reserve the right to remove this listing if it is sold here. Questions are encouraged and we can talk about this bike or converse about what you would like me to build for you. You may e-mail me or phone me (30), however I will not answer any text. I currently have more than 20 CT70s first year 3 speed and also 4 speed models I can build for you. I've been at this many years and have included some photos of just a handful of bikes I've built for clients whom have come from all over the U.S. If you have a feedback score of less than 10 please notify me before buying. The engine has been gone through and is practically new and will need a break in period. Serious collectors acknowledge the frame and engine number less than 200 apart are "Matching." This bike runs like a Swiss watch. Every item on the entire bike has been polished, power coated or painted. In order to avoid any possible concern or confusion I decided to repost the bike again. This reposting is because I made an error in the original listing stating the shipping cost was $7.20 even though I stated in the narrative that shipping was the responsibility of the buyer. Their are numerous companies that ship motorcycles all over the country, or you can pick it up in person! It will go in any pick up truck and many SUV's! I will obviously make it available for loading here in Dallas, but I will not make shipping arrangements. I will miss it dearly! As it says under shipping, buyer must make those arrangements. I am building a new garage and it looks kind of funny in my dining room, but I just cannot bring myself to put it outside! No title, but I did purchase it from my Motorcycle in Gunnison, CO. Ohhhhhh How I wanted one when I was a kid.I drive this thing in my neighborhood to the 7-11. It's battery is no doubt bad, but I never saw the reason for it in the first place. I placed a smaller sprocket and new chain on it, tuned it up, and put some buddy pegs on it.

At VMC Chinese Parts, our objective is to get you the right part, the first time, with thorough measurements and multiple images. In the event, however, that there is still uncertainty about a part's application, we encourage you to contact us, and be prepared to provide pictures and dimensions of the part in question. For those reasons, shopping for parts for a Chinese-built machine is largely a visual exercise: rather than ordering parts by make, model and production date, the best way to ensure that the part ordered is correct is to match the specifications of the parts. Hugh Jackman rides a motorbike down the red carpet
youtube
This is the first year of the motor the new one that our friend helped designed the 883 evolution and that's what they called it and he said it's time for you to do something and change up and make it work and it does we used a lot of them because we're smaller and we still do they're still pretty big and these bikes are awesome when he's designing and really going to help a lot of people can't ride a million miles an hour up to 200 is great if they needed it's there. And he's going to make one and really he wants me to describe the scene I'm leaving the mansion and yes the Xavier institute mansion and that's what I call it and it's his clan but boy he may have been pushed too far and he was pushed and I'm going real fast and it's on a different bike and it's not the Ducati it's a roadster it's awesome the scene is intense and I'm thinking to myself and I'm flying down the road and stopped and smoked a cigar everyone loves the scene and you said you do as a commercial but if I just kind of a mini it's not really small and it's not really big it's smaller than the bike I'm riding which is full size and it's huge and fast this is going to be fun these bikes are going to be cool it's going to look just like it he says and I'm going to help name it I'm going to make my version I got to start this is intense but it will have a lawn mower motor I don't have to make the exhaust somehow work with the emission stuff it sounds better but we need the sound to be right said if you get the sound right it'll probably be faster it is usually the case
Wolverine
He said we can't call it wolverine but we're making ours now we can't call it Kingsley LOL that was our son's joke and daughter and she says and he says as good one so they're getting along. This is going to be awesome what a great lineup already and hard knock kicker 5150 will have to be revised by people who were building them or they'll find Randall text Cobb and revive him and it would be a huge boost to the rebels
Zig Zag
We're going to try that
Dan
Olympus
Oh yeah sure you'll try that I don't think so you never do anything right
bill
I got to do something to make up for it these bikes are my style yeah they are but not really I'm more of a chopper guy and they're already doing the chopper and it says I should do my version of the child size I'm going to go ahead and do that
Dave
I'm going to make this too and I'm going to start designing it it's like the roadster that wolverine has but it might change the sport bike look that we're going to do they all look like they're from China and people don't like that and it's not really Japanese and when she's on doesn't look like either and she was suggesting it and it's a smart idea and the size is a little small but they'll see it works it has to be small for the engine to work well I can't believe it these things are going to be great there's so many of these engines we're going to make it work
Hera
We don't have time to make everything there aren't any frames kicking around for these but there's a lot of parts in China and tires and ribs and handlebars all sorts of things and they can make them pretty quick but so can we and he says that we should stamp out mags they take a lot less time and you can make mags for the choppers too they look cool or solid rims really mags look good we know which ones and we're going to do that it takes 1/8 of the time there's a couple other cost savings things we're going to cast the frame in case we have to ride them and it's high tech but it's low tech and takes an eighth of the time and the motors we already have and the transmissions already made and we have a ton of them and we're going to take all the longhorns and use the used ones we're getting to work on it now
Thor Freya
Everything can be cast it takes 1/8 of time so we're going to start doing it now
Olympus we can use it for other stuff but we need to get it going

Building a mini chopper out of a … Honda CG110
We don’t often feature choppers: the innovation and irreverence that permeated that scene in the 60s and 70s evaporated a long time ago. But there are builders out there who stay true to the original spirit of make-do and rebellion.
Southeast Asia is now the hotbed for this approach, with multiple builders using traditional skills to overcome limited resources and tight budgets. This wacky little Honda CG110 with a suicide shift is a great example, and comes from East Malaysian builder Nasir Morni.
Like the better-known CG125, the CG110 is one of those bulletproof, bargain-basement singles that the average shade tree mechanic can fix with a 10mm socket. It’s only occasionally ventured into western markets, but it’s extremely common in Southeast Asia and Africa.
This mini chopper started life as a 1977 model, and it arrived in bits at Nasir’s house two years ago. He builds bikes as a hobby in his car porch, because workshop space is too expensive.
“It was perfect timing for my first 60s-style chopper,” he says. “I got a call from a friend who wanted to sell his unfinished GG110 shed-build project.
“It was only a frame and a non-running engine, but it was the perfect bike to start the chopper project. I got it for $100.”
Nasir is a videographer by trade but also an avid skateboarder, and a freestyle vibe permeates his approach to bike building.
His home city of Kuching is about 600 miles from Kuala Lumpur, and the only practical way to get there is by airplane. Which means he doesn’t have easy, cost-effective access to hard parts that many Western builders take for granted.
So Nasir got most of his parts from wrecker’s yards and scrap bikes, including the rims, triple trees, wheel hubs, and handlebars. “Every component that could be reused, I refurbished it and put it back,” he says.
Broken down CG110 engines are readily available in Borneo, so Nasir quickly got the air-cooled single up and running again for minimal cost.
Back in the day, Nasir worked in automotive body repair, so he’s handy with metal. He’s built the rigid frame from scratch using 26mm steel tube, with a 22mm steel tube inside.
He’s also built an electronics box using 2mm mild steel plate, and a classic sissy bar with solid 12mm steel tubing shaped with a mechanical pipe bender.
Even the foot pegs and controls are fabricated from scratch, using 22mm steel tube and skateboard bearings. “The details I love the most are the skateboarding elements,” says Nasir. “Growing up in the skate scene inspired me to add something special.”
The suicide shifter and chain tensioner use parts from Nasir’s old skate setups, and on the left side of the Honda, he’s created a detachable skateboard holder. Whenever he wants to go skating, he can slide the board onto the side of the bike and head off to the park.
Most of the other parts are repurposed from different bikes—like the modified Yamaha RX-Z forks, and the 21-inch front wheel from an old Yamaha scrambler.
Nasir shipped the bike to the huge Art Of Speed exhibition in Kuala Lumpur, but it got damaged on the way due to a transport company slip-up. Then when it was shipped back home to Borneo, it was damaged in transit a second time.
That damage is now repaired, the chrome has been redone, and the Honda has been painted for a second time. Nasir has called the Honda ‘Melati,’ which means ‘jasmine flower’ in Malay.
We’d love the Honda as it is, but love it even more knowing the difficulties that Nasir faced in getting this one on the road. Respect!

Harley-Davidson Bets On Two New Sportster Models
On the heels of announcing the closure of their Kansas City, MO plant the motorcycle icon Harley-Davidson has announced two new Sportster motorcycles of 100 they plan to introduce by 2027. The new models, the Iron 1200 and Forty-Eight special, are high-bar bikes which bring together the old-school styling of Harley’s past with the Evolution 1200 V-Twin engine.
Via Harley-Davidson: The Iron 1200 recipe starts with power. A 1202cc Evolution® 1200 V-Twin engine delivers 36 percent more torque (73.0 ft. lbs. vs. 53.8 ft. lb.) than the 883 Evolution engine that powers the Iron 883, the original urban brawler in the Sportster family. The Iron 1200 brings more punch to the street fight – more power to blast away from green lights and more mid-range to muscle through traffic. More power means more rowdy fun.
The satin-black Mini Ape handle bar is an essential element of the garage-built chopper look that adds instant attitude. This 1.0-inch diameter handlebar offers an 8.75-inch rise, 32-inch spread and 6.5-inch pull back, that opens the rider triangle with a fist-in-the-wind posture. The gloss black speed screen framing the headlamp is a West Coast styling influence that amplifies the attitude of the tall bars, is intended to offer some wind deflection at speed and provides a space for easy personalization. The fast-back Café Solo Seat flows to the rear fender and is shaped to help hold the rider in position when the torque of the Evolution 1200 kicks in.
The burly front end of the Forty-Eight Special – a 130mm front tire framed by 49mm forks secured in massive forged aluminum triple clamps – looks especially menacing when topped with a gloss-black, 7.25-inch high Tallboy handlebar.
“We specifically selected the Tallboy bar for its shape,” said Richards. “It offers less pull-back than the Mini-Ape, a look that really works with the steamroller front end and the smaller fuel tank on the Forty-Eight Special model.”
That 2.2-gallon “peanut” Sportster fuel tank features rows of bold, horizontal stripes framing a simple Harley-Davidson text logo. The fuel tank is available in three color options: Vivid Black, Wicked Red, and Billiard White.
The Evolution 1200 engine features a black top end and an expanse of brilliant chrome below, including chrome primary, inspection and derby covers, and solid chrome muffler and exhaust shields. Chrome lower rocker boxes, pushrod tubes and tappet covers contrast with the black cylinders to highlight the V-Twin engine shape. High-performance Michelin Scorcher 31 tires front and rear are mounted on Black Split 9-Spoke Cast Aluminum wheels (16-inch diameter front and rear).

Gas Mini Bike Online
We IMMEDIATELY hit it off and conversed for like over an hour. Turns out that he knows some of the people and places I know so we both warmed up to each other and started throwing out ideas. Now, I have to admit, he came up with all the ideas and I was the PERFECT person (daily rider at 40 miles per day) on and off road to beat the crap out his “Plug and Play” lighting system for him. With my online presence with my blog I’m glad to be able to say that with his expertise, I think he’s come up with something unbelievable.
I SINCERELY think he is onto something big. Not only has he done the complete lighting kit with front separate turn signals and back turn signals, he has added high and low beams, a horn, a halo around the front headlight and a real motorcycle crush switch for the brake light.
One of the things that blew me away was the illuminated on/off switch on the polished aluminum control box. I love that! Everything was so easy to hook up. Every connector was labeled so you can not hook it up backward or mess it up. So I assembled it on my bike, and here it is…
I have to say that this is the best light kit I have ever bought. It came with everything and was very well packed with instructions. I put it together in no time, like no shit in 15 minutes? It was a dream to ride with this, even at night.
The first night I took it to the store and back. Then I rode it during the day and it gave other motorists notice of when I was turning and braking. I thought WOW! This is so cool. I had to tighten some fasteners down after a couple of rides but I’ve got to tell ya, this is a REALLY professional system that I do not think you will find at a better price for what you’re getting. This guy’s heart is in this and it’s all he can think about when he’s not focusing his life around his beautiful daughter.
He’s working on a system now that can be charged with the motor while it is running so that you won’t even have to hook the battery up to be charged!! Every day that I talk with him, his enthusiasm for doing this is so infectious. His passion for building bikes and contributing to our hobby and obsession is insurmountable. He is a genuinely good person and has an absolutely great idea and product to service what we ride. He gave unbelievable tech support over the phone and I was truly satisfied with it.
Here is a link to our interview in audio format if you care to listen. This is AMAZING!!
Link following soon. We have to upload it to youtube!! I just couldn’t wait to get this out there!!!
Florida DMV Passed New Law For Motorized Bicycles!
The State of Florida just passed a new Law for the regulations of operating “Motorized Bicycles” called RS-68. More details will be coming soon as I gather up all the information I can about it. This could be a good thing? Hmmmm…… We will see!!
New parts came in the mail! YAY!!!!
EVERY TIME I get new parts in the mail, it’s like Christmas!! That feeling you get, the anticipation of wanting to get your hands on the bike as quickly as possible to see the differences made is incredible. This particular ride is growing up to be a pretty mature China girl. With my “Fred Head” and my new “Dellorto Style” carburetor, this girl is purring along better and better every day. One of the issues that these little gems are plagued with is heat dissipation. In the sunny state of Florida where I live, it gets pretty hot in the Summer and Fred Chelminski’s Fred Head does such a fantastic job cooling down my girl when she get’s to moving fast. It performs SO WELL in radiating the heat away from my engine. I took a meat thermometer to it after a long ride and it wasn’t even above 220 degrees.
I was having issues with the “Stock NT” carb using too much gas and running a little rich. It also had issues with four-stroking all the way through the RPM range. It’s a good carb style to work with and easily tuned but if you’re looking for performance, the Runtong Carburetor is the way to go. The NT is a good “go-to” carb to get you started especially for break in because it runs a little rich. You want to have that extra lubrication until your motor gets settled in.
I used to have a Dellorto Style carb I purchased from Bikeberry.com. It performed very well until I put it on a shelf to work with other bikes and parts and then when I installed it, it would never idle right thereafter. So back on the shelf it went. I got another style of the same carburetor, only this one has a jet adjustment screw right under the idle screw which allows you to dial in the mixture without having to change jets! Another feature of this style is that it has a choke on it that when you push the lever down to choke it all you have to do is open the throttle up all the way for a second to unlock the choke lever. This means you don’t have to go all over the place while riding, trying to find the lever to take the choke off. MUCH SAFER operation!!
Not only that, but this little carb is literally a bolt on and go with little adjustment since Jim Wilson from PedalChopper.com installs the correct jet and fine tunes it for you. He also installs the throttle cable for you just to be sure it’s on right and while he’s at it, he does quality control. This is a service that is NOT offered by anyone else in the industry. Just email him and ask any questions about your build and he will reply faster than anyone I know of with your solution. So far, this is a winning combination of parts. I’ve got the heat dissipation worked out, the fuel air mixture spot on, and the engine is breathing so much better. I guess the only things that are left is to purchase an HD Lightning CDI. As I was riding to the store yesterday, a fella met up with me and said that he lived right down the road from me and was having problems with his bike build. Well, with my usually enthusiastic self, I offered to go down to his house and see what we could do. He has an exceptionally nice frame that was specifically built for these China girls to mount on with a built in fuel tank!
This is going to be a really cool build. I have an issue with my fuel tank wanting to twist on my frame because you can’t tighten down the mounting studs too tight or it will leak. This only happens at high RPM’s when the bike is vibrating a lot. So as of now, I am trying to find alternative ways to mount the tank. I currently have double sided sticky foam tape holding it along with the standard mounts.
Hello everybody!! Today is one of the days I’ve been looking forward to because I’ve had a chance to speak with one of the more serious people in the Motor Bicycling field. I mean this guy is ALL ABOUT these types of bikes. Just to show you how much of a passion and love he has for them, I’ll tell you a little history about him. He started out back in the 1980’s up in the Indiana and Chicago area working with store chains like KMart and other big department stores assembling bikes from when they were shipped to the stores in boxes. Lord only knows how many lives he touched by having his hands on putting together rides for kids and adults of all ages. When you think about it, this is the perfect teaching and experience building tool he used to develop this passion he has. He did this for a good long time and then eventually got out of assembling bikes for about 20 years. The economy started taking a dive. So he took a break from it. He eventually got back into it back in 2009 in the Ft. Myers Beach, Florida area because as you all know, once you have been “Bitten by the bug” you never really stop tinkering with these things. With all the years of knowledge and building, he decided to go into it himself. One thing I’ve noticed in life is, if you really want to be successful, you need to work in a field that you really enjoy. He started flipping bikes on the net and offering exceptional professional assembly services. This is when he formed his own niche brand. Instead of assembling many different styles of bikes and frames he focused on the OCC Schwinn Stingray “Chopper” style. In his own words, “I just think they look cooler than the rest of them.” And I think he’s right! After a while, he met up with [the owner of a bike shop on Ft. Myers Beach – Hugh Thomas] a guy that mostly had knowledge of these China girls kits and not that much about the bikes themselves. With the combined influences of these two, they started rolling. The steam engine started going faster and picking up speed. Eventually Jim Wilson, started machining and fabricating his own engine mounts and sprocket designs, cylinder heads and chain tensioners, etc… putting together some really awesome builds. He started playing with different shifter designs offering three and five speed options for motorized builds. They REALLY started becoming innovative in their own right. He offers an unbelievable array of parts, tools, kits, and modifications to truly customize your ride. Just browsing on his website (PedalChopper.com) you will see that he is offering every kind of customizing option available to the point of seeing things which I didn’t even know there was a custom option!
After sales started picking up, they began to build on the business by adding a powder coat painting shop, a machine shop, a paint and graphics shop, and a wheel building and lacing shop. They started getting into electric hubs and coming up with his own drag exhaust pipe design really tweaking the design of these little girls.
He also boasts with the RIGHT to, that he has one of a kind builds never done before! He has a very extensive knowledge about the inner workings of just about everything bicycle and motor related. He has recently put together, THE FIRST OF IT’S KIND combination electric and gas powered models that will surely appeal to anyone. I am AMAZED and so will YOU by just looking at the jaw-dropping models they have put out. What’s really cool is the fact that his tech support is amazing and he likes to assemble anything that might be of difficultly to the average builder. Jim knows what’s right and what’s wrong with these builds. He knows what works! He has literally covered these bikes from front to back with intricate detail. Be sure to check out his GALLERY PAGE for the various builds he has done.
When I was talking to him, he was coincidentally on his way to personally deliver bikes he assembled for people. I was sincerely impressed in our over an hour long conversation. It’s funny when you get two guys together that are passionate about what they do, time just leaves you and you find yourself talking everything bike related with ease. He is a very pleasant fella and willing to discuss just about anything bike related. You can go to him with any ideas you have for your custom treasure by emailing him on his site. You will be delighted to have a very quick response because his heart is truly in this business and he takes it very seriously.
Tonight,I had the unique opportunity to talk with owner/operator Jim Wilson of Pedalchopper.com. There is a lot of cool stuff that is on it’s way from his shop! He has a f_ck ton of stuff available at his online store. Items from a high compression cylinder head to intakes, to even just fenders for your bike. I highly recommend you check his store out.
He offers the unique ability to custom build your own adult, teen or stock sized Motorized OCC Schwinn Stingray Chopper bicycle. He offers one stop shopping for parts and tools to help you build your one of a kind bike build. He offers FREE!! Yes, That’s right FREE tech advice to ALL his customers. He also dabbles in not only gas, but electric bikes and has the ability to answer all your questions on whatever project you are working on.
Some of the characteristics of our China girls is that they need more breathing room. He offers billet wide mouth manifolds to help make them breath right and sprockets and hubs to put the power to lay the rubber on the road.
Ape-hangers, HD lightening CDI kits, tuned drag pipes, YOU NAME IT!!! He’s got it! Build your own just the way you like it so you can be the bad-ass you want to be. When people see you rolling down the road, you can tell ’em that PedalChopper helped you make it “YOURS”.
I can tell you, I can not wait for this interview. More to come!!! See ya soon!
What Is An Expansion Chamber And Why Do I Need One?
Once again, “Necessity is the Mother of Invention”. Germany was running low in their fuel stockpiles back in the mid 1930’s and German engineers were researching a way to make the 2-stroke engine more economical. Remember, War-Torn Europe was where these motorized bikes originally came from. It was the most easiest form of transport since the terrain was pock-marked and riddled with bomb craters and roads were not easily traveled.
When the 2-stroke engine was first developed, the engineers first put only straight pipes on them cutting the ends off until they ran optimally. After a while, they experimented with different designs basing them on the fact that the 2-stroke is more or less an air pump. The German Engineer, Limbach, first invented this concept and successfully manufactured it’s design in 1938. Then is was redeveloped by an East German Engineer, Walter Kaaden during the cold war.
Basing their designs on this “wavefront” phenomenon, they noticed that if they channeled the exhaust gas charges back into the cylinder, they could increase the horsepower and reduce the amount of gas being burned. Just like an exhaust gas recycle circuit in a car. The exhaust in the chamber has an echo effect and has to be tuned correctly to get the most performance out of your 2-smoker.
The example above shows the basic concept of the design, however the gases are not completely removed from the pipe on the second stroke. There is what’s called a “slug” of exhaust gases that stays in the header of the pipe waiting to get swapped out by the next slug. And this can go on for two or three cycles. That is why testing the exhaust gases on a 2-stroke is not done at the end of the pipe, but taken from a port in the header where fresh gases create the “slug”. The basic design is very similar to the Boost bottle design for the intake where the bottle captures unburned intake gases and recirculates them into the intake after a few strokes, therefore saving gas as well and putting a richer charge into the engine gaining more horsepower. There are several different sources on the net if you wish to build your own tuned pipe. Just do a Google search and it will list a plethora of them. Expansion chambers run for approximately $60 and up. I highly recommend adding one to your setup. You will experience the true horsepower of your engine and will save you gas in the long run. On another note, it will sound better too!!
Reasons Why I Ride a Motorized Bike?
I think that one of the main reasons why people get really into bikes is that they had some sort of really cool experience as a kid learning how to ride and watching others ride along with you. And as you did it, you got better and better at riding. I remember doing wheelies on my Schwinn Stingray with a banana seat and a small sissy bar on the back. The handlebars were really cool that you could just pull back on them a bit and lift the front end up and see how far you can go. The benefit of riding a motorized bike is that it is much more fun as an adult, although I REALLY wish I had one of these when I was a kid. Just the idea of adding a motor on an already cool looking bike was and is just outstanding FUN. There are a lot of people right now modifying original bike frames into masterpieces. They make them damn near look like real motorcycles except with peddles. The Schwinn Stingray was one of my favorite bikes of all time. The company will be about 51 years old this June. In 1895, German Engineer, Ingaz Schwinn founded his company and this is an interesting story.
Al Fritz, Director of research for Schwinn produced a prototype out of the back of his car. Mr. Schwinn and most of all the management laughed at the design and they didn’t think it would sell or be marketable. In fact, Mr. Schwinn himself bet Mr. Fritz $100 against it. He bet him that “it wouldn’t exceed 25,000 units sold in the first year”. As quoted by his son, Mike Fritz. Well, it took off like a banshee and they completely sold out of stock in just a few months. They actually in 1928 were ranked at number third in line along with Indian and Harley Davidson. And went on to selling 700,000 in 1968. I had an accident on my Stingray once. I was riding and coasting down a hill real fast into a parking lot at my school in Long Island, NY. I was in Elementary. The whole parking lot was in a valley so there was only one way down and one way up over at the other end. I was hauling ass with NO shoes on and the pedals were going too fast. So I lifted my feet up and got one of my ankles stuck in between the front spokes and my forks. I instantly flew up and over, like Superman, the bars landing on my wrist breaking it completely. On that day, I felt really sorry for my mother because when I limped my way home (close by), I found out that my sister, Janet had just dove into a swimming pool and broke her back and my other sister, Linda was home sick with mononucleosis. Talk about a “Calgon!!!, Take me AWAY!!!!” moment for her! I had to wear a cast all the way up my arm over my elbow because it was completely broken and it eventually healed after everyone wrote their names signing it. Which everyone did in that day. One thing is that I definitely learned to always wear shoes while riding anything! Now this is what I ride.
