The Supernatural Tarot Deck and Guidebook by Minerva Siegel
Supernatural – Tarot Deck and Guidebook by Minerva Siegel My rating: 4 of 5 stars This is very obviously a novelty deck, but if you are a fan of Supernatural, it actually fits in fairly well with the theming. Blades, Pentagrams, Goblets, and Bones – not terribly off putting with their choices of suits. Pentagrams, Goblets, and Blades are all self explanatory and even common after a fashion. Bones…

April 2023 Tarot Reading
Tumblr media
Deck: Disney Villains Tarot Deck written by Minerva Siegel and illustrated by Ellie Goldwine
If this month isn't meant for creating goals, I don't know what other month it would be.
The major arcana of The Chariot is driving forward and does not care who or what is in the way, Cruella gets what she wants there's no doubt about it. The obstacles that may come up this month may seem daunting at first but there is always a way around them when you think outside of the box. Don't let yourself down when things get difficult, instead look at it with a sense of opportunity.
The minor arcana, the Knight of Swords, is another force to be reckoned with. Percival McLeach is the embodiment of wants versus needs. McLeach wants every endangered species in his collection but it also doesn't mean he needs them. Think about your wants versus needs, what drives you forward this month that you really want but don't necessarily need? And what needs do you think needs to be tended? There may be several opportunities to reach your goals but this is what you want when there could be several opportunities to spend that extra five minutes tending to your personal growth and mental health as your need. Find a balance and routine that works for you! Don't let mental health drag your goals down as mental health and personal growth will always be on your list of goals whether short or long term.
I hope everyone has a wonderful April, a wonderful beginning to Spring, and a beautiful Ostara!

Weekly Tarot 8/27/23 - 9/2/23
Tumblr media
4 of Potions (Cups), The Fool, Strength, + Anti-Hero
Hello everyone! This week may shake up your connections and the way that you relate to yourself, others, and situations. With the 4 of Cups, you may see yourself unbottling some old emotions and perhaps cleaning out expired connections in your metaphorical cupboard. The behaviors in yourself and others that you once enabled or accepted are no longer tolerable. Perhaps you’re done drinking from the cup of apathy and are now seeking something new and fortifying. Whatever it may be, the Full Moon this week offers a moment to reflect before you begin this new chapter. You are taking with you what you have learned and perhaps embracing your true nature - or at least the nature that best serves you at this time. Many of you may find that new guides will appear to assist you along the way. And for others, you might be stepping into completely new roles that will allow you to fully embrace your gifts and strengths.
With the Anti-Hero card, some of you may be asked to embrace a side of yourself that you’ve repressed for a long time. Whether it was out of fear of being perceived in the wrong light, fear of rejection, or simply fear of meeting your whole authentic self. This week will give you opportunities to allow yourself to fully be seen. And if you feel as if you don’t know where to begin, ask yourself “What parts of myself have I bottled up in order to make someone else feel safe?” “What part of me have I recently seen in another, but have rejected because I was told that it was wrong to be different?” “Is being perceived as the villain in someone else’s story while being the hero in another really all that bad?” “How am I trying to control someone else’s experience by projecting only the parts of myself that I feel are appropriate to be seen?” “How can I better show up for myself and my loved ones in a way that allows others the space to be seen fully as well?”
In terms of crystals, Obsidian works in a way that allows us to reflect on energies that can be hindering our progress and serves as a tool that gives us strength to create compassionate boundaries with ourselves and others. Silver Moonstone allows us to connect our rational mind with our intuition which then works as a vehicle to aid our discernment. Better discernment and healthy boundaries are some of the most important tools to have no matter where you are on your journey. The Labyrinth Tarot Deck and Guidebook by Minerva Siegel
Labyrinth – Tarot Deck and Guidebook by Minerva Siegel My rating: 3 of 5 stars Okay, I’m going to start this review off by pointing out my personal bias – I love the Labyrinth movie, I love David Bowie, and because of those things I already have a fondness for this tarot deck. The art is also inspired by Brian Froud and he does the foreword, so there is another thing in favor of this deck. I used…

Now that I have a copy of the deck I can post some more specific comments here.
Tumblr media
Here’s the Major Arcana cards featuring “the boys.” Meaning-wise these make sense even though “The Duo” sets my teeth on edge. Still not a fan of the art. Please note Nanny Astoreth is missing her snake tattoo, as is Crowley on the cover of the box.
Tumblr media
Here are the Minors that show Aziraphale.
Tumblr media
And here are the Minors that feature Crowley, although an argument can be made that the card on the right is not him. 😏
Tumblr media
I was happy to see Muriel but they look 60. Why?
Tumblr media
These two don’t make any sense to me. Pulsifer should be judgement and I’m not sure why they picked Dagon for that unless it was because they were a witness at Crowley’s trial. But so was Hastur and Beelzebub presided, so why not choose Beelzebub? Or the Almighty?
Tumblr media
Maggie is sure in a lot of cards. I’ve been seeing some interesting theories that suggest there’s more to her than what we’ve seen and her apparent importance in this deck makes me wonder if there’s any credence to those theories.
Tumblr media
Nina is in just two, which also makes me wonder.
Tumblr media
And I don’t understand these at all. I do suppose featuring a pensive Jim on a card about nostalgia kinda makes sense for the card reader, but since he has no memory, what does he have to be nostalgic about? And instead of Job’s children for the King of Humans, why not Job himself? And the zombies? 🙄
Other random observations:
1. In anticipating this deck, I was hoping to see three things: Aziraphale and Crowley as The Lovers, the Bentley as The Chariot, and fully illustrated Minors. I got 1 1/2 of those.
Unless I missed it the Bentley is not anywhere in the deck - which I consider a travesty! AFAIC that car is as much a character as any of the people and supernatural entities and an important part of the plot. Boo on that missed opportunity.
We did get fully illustrated Minors, so yay on that.
As for Aziraphale and Crowley as The Lovers I’ve complained here before about changing them to The Duo. Double-booo! But wait - what is this:
Tumblr media
I guess that change was never communicated to Minerva Siegel, who wrote the accompanying booklet! She puts them on The Lovers card, so that’s the 1/2. Hoo-rah.
2. I’ve yet to read much in the booklet but I’m looking forward to that because what little I’ve seen has made me not regret buying this deck. Siegel has a background in tarot and has apparently written on it before, so I plan to seek out her other work.
3. I did find a pretty egregious error where for the Knight and Page of Humans the images on the cards are switched. It’s pretty obvious in the descriptions in the booklet. Did anyone actually proof this before signing off on it? It might have been a good idea to have had someone familiar with both the series and tarot do so, I’m just sayin’.
4. The cards are nicely packaged with a fully decorated sturdy box. The cards are on a thick stock with a matte finish. I haven’t tried shuffling them but I’m guessing they’ll take a bit to break in. So 👍 on presentation.
So, to sum up, I’m pretty disappointed overall. I own dozens of decks and I’ve never seen the kinds of careless errors that are in this deck. Creating a tarot deck is usually a labor of love between the illustrator and the person writing the accompanying text (if they are not the same person) and I do wonder how much contact happened between the illustrator, Lúthien Leerghast, and author Minerva Siegel, and who made the decisions regarding what was featured on the cards. I have other decks I’d also consider novelty decks based on some other media where there doesn’t appear to be a lot of thought given to the images chosen when it comes to the meanings of the cards. That’s not completely the issue here as quite a few cards do make sense. I just wish more care had been taken overall.
I saw this today and had to laugh *bull shit* because anyone who’s ever bought printing knows that nothing gets printed until the PROOFS are REVIEWED and SIGNED. You mean to tell us he didn’t notice this? 🙄

Nightmare Before Christmas Tarot Deck: Minor Arcana
As mentioned before, the Nightmare Before Christmas Tarot Deck has different Minor Arcana cards. After going over the guidebook, it confirms that they represent an actually Minor Arcana suit. So I thought I’d post it and share
Suit of Candles: Suit of Wands
This Suit represents energy, passion, and motivation.
Suit of Presents: Suit of Pentacles
This Suit represents finances, work, and material wealth.
Suit of Needles: Suit of Swords
This Suit represents thoughts, words, and actions.
Suit of Potions: Suit of Cups
This Suit represents feelings, emotions, intuition, and creativity.
I know this isn’t a major post, but I thought it would be interesting share.
