Prophet Mohammad’s Birthday, Eid Milad-un-Nabi, being celebrated all Over the World
Eid Milad-un-Nabi, birthday of Prophet Mohammad, is being celebrated with joy and great fervour all over the country today. Prophet Mohammad, who is the founder of Islam, is also believed to be a messenger of God for all Muslims on earth. Eid Milad-un-Nabi is also called Mawlid al-Nabi al-Sharif, the Arabic word Mawlid meaning birth. Eid Milad-un-Nabi is celebrated through Seerat Conferences and Milad Mehfils where the life events and teachings of the Prophet are highlighted. Mosques are decorated all over the country and Milad processions are taken out on the streets in which people from all sections of the society take part. Families gather on this occasion and enjoy a feast which is also meant for the poor and the downtrodden sections of the society. Many delicious food items are prepared for the feast in which desserts are main attraction. Some most popular desserts prepared on Eid Milad-un-Nabi are baklava and rice or semolina puddings. Many people donate to charities on this day to pay their respects to the messenger of God. His birthday is a very important day for all Muslims as it reminds them of his love, kindness, and compassion. According to Islam, Prophet Mohammad was born in Mecca in 570 CE on the 12th day of Rabee-ul-Awwal, the third month in the Islamic calendar.
