"You're the spitting image of her! Can't you see it's written on your face?! You are her come again to usher in the new dawn - the Mirithe Eon! All you have to do is come with us, we will show you The Way, we will-"
The Blacksmith Apprentice raised his hands in protest, silencing the younger adept, and shook his head lightly, lips pursed.
"I cannot be whom you say," he said, head still moving side to side. "My home is here. I am a blacksmith's apprentice. I am engaged to my future wife, Mika. I stand with men, for I am one of them. Others have come before you, issuing the same decree, although I admit, not with such fervor.
I know you come from a land of troubles, but you can rest here. If those enemies you hold in your heart's fears come to us, we will defend our home-," he reached out to the group, his nut-brown hand extended towards them.
"-Together. What say you?"
The wizened leader of the new troupe of travellers tipped his cup to empty its contents into his jaw. He swallowed, set the stein on the table, nodded and slapped his knees in the Tanqueri gesture for leaving.
Standing, he spoke, "You are clearly the leader we seek. You will not seek to confront Fate? Very well." His compatriots looked to him now with alarm. He raised his hands to assuage them, as he did when he asked them for patience while he summoned their next meal in his ritual cast each day.
"It is then remaining to me to see that you are equipped for what lays in store. I will send Them to you, young sir." The youthful adept, Seamus, rose out of his seat, handing the cloak to his master, cowing his brown eyes away from the youth & his master with shame for how they welled with tears against his will. Winston took the coat from him, but made a hold gesture to his apprentice. Seamus stood there shocked, tears trailing down his cheeks.
Winston continued, "The rest of you should stay here. Help him. Learn from him. Teach him what you in turn know to be true. I warn you if you don't, we will fail." He drew his well worn cloak around him, layered and raggedy, and plucked his stave from its rest point at the edge of the table.
"Good tides stay with you." With that the wizard only known as Winston marched out of the door to the tavern, his cloak billowing behind him with the cold gust from the door causing some patrons to shy away from the chill. The door closed, the cold left and Winston was gone.
Jef stood in front of the group, awkwardly. This was the fifth group in the past year who came to Delken, but he hadn't seen the wizard before. Also, that was the shortest speech to attempt to convince him, and ... it wasn't even convincing. It seemed more convinced?
What an odd man.
His face shifting from a pensive scowl to an open smile, he turned back to the group - "Well, come with me, and I can show you around Delken, at least. Who wants to start at the smithy downstairs? It will at least be warm there, and we can proceed to the town hall from there?"
The group still was standing there, as many deer blinking against a sudden bright lantern in the forest. It reminded Jef to check the hooded set for Gurney, so the hunt tomorrow evening would go well. He flipped the rug, and opened the trap door at the end of the bar, and gestured down. The heat quickly jumped in the room, and the distant tinking noise became a very loud clanking one. Mika's making progress, then.
He gestured to the hole in the floor, "Who wants to see where Delken's magic happens?"
You are just a humble peasant boy and in general you are very happy with your life. The only problem is that you are constantly being pestered by travelers trying to tell you that you are some sort of chosen one.
