Review twisted pair HDMI extender Lenkeng LKV375N
We had another twisted-pair HDMI extender up to 230 feet for testing - Lenkeng LKV375N. This is an inexpensive extender that works on HDBaseT technology. This means it is interchangeable with equipment from other manufacturers that work on the same chips
Main Features
The Lenkeng LKV375N is a ready-to-use kit for transmitting HDMI signals with up to 4K@30Hz resolution over a twisted pair at a distance of up to 230 feet. Additional features include additional IR signal transmission in both directions.
External view
The set is packaged in a gray package. Such packaging is found in almost all professional devices. This emphasizes that "wrapping doesn’t matter, but the content does".
If you open the box, you will immediately see the transmitter, receiver, and instructions. The rest of the accessories (power supply unit, IR transmitter, and IR receiver) are located under the black blister.
The transmitter and receiver are of average size for such devices and are made of quality metal.
There are a lot of vents in the housing of the devices, which seem to hint at increased heat dissipation. We will test this during the testing. There are also threaded holes on the sides of the housing. They may be used for additional mounting ears which we did not find in the kit. Moreover, there is not a single word about it in the manual. Still, we consider it to be a useful feature for fastening the box to various surfaces.
The kit also includes an IR transmitter and an IR receiver for remote control of either a display device or a video source. Remember that the kit has two-way transmission of the IR signal. Of the disadvantages, note that the double-sided adhesive tape is supplied separately and not already glued to its seats. But this is not a significant drawback.
After removing the cover, we found a rather large radiator on the main chip. Now it is clear why there are so many holes in the housing – they provide for better heat dissipation. You can also note the slightly skewed adhesion of the radiator to the chip. This does not affect its capabilities but should be noted as a fact.
Otherwise, there is no question about the quality of soldering - all is neat and high quality.
Performance testing
When connecting we use our test cable twisted pair CAT6 230 feet. Initially, we feed the image at 1080p at 60Hz. The set is up and running. The video was transmitted with no visible delay and no degradation in quality.
As the next step, we decided to test the claimed 4K video transmission at 30 Hz at a distance of 115 feet, which the manufacturer claims in the manual. Initially, we purposely set the frequency to 60 Hz. As expected, the video did not transfer. When we changed the frequency to 30 Hz it worked. There is not enough bandwidth to transmit more frames.
Conclusion
At first glance, the tested set showed the usual results, as the declared characteristics were shown during the test. But mind one significant thing - the price. The transmitter and receiver kit is cheaper than many other manufacturers' HDBaseT transmitters or receivers sold separately. If it's the transmitter and receiver kit you need, it would be a good choice in terms of price.

If you're still interested in the ask game, I have a few! For Edward Elric:
12. What's a headcanon you have for this character?
24. What other character from another fandom of yours reminds you of them?
26. FREEBIE QUESTION!! What animal do you associate with this character? I think I remember you mentioning something about Ed and crows once? If I'm thinking of the right blog haha
Hope you're having a good day!!
Ohhh yes thank you!!
12. What's a headcanon you have for this character?
Oh I have so many but uhmm let's see... One headcanon I have is that Ed can cook. Probably not expertly but well enough to get by. Like in those years between Trisha's death and the human transmutation, I think it's safe to assume that while Pinako made sure they knew they were always welcome in the Rockbell house, the boys wouldn't have had every meal every day with them. So the rest of the time Ed would cook. He picked up afew things from Trisha, and then he read some books (of course) and experimented a bunch (of course), because after all cooking is just chemistry/alchemy too, right? And then he and Al had to feed themselves while they were on Yock island and learned some more things and you bet Izumi involved them in chores, including cooking, when they were staying with her. So by the time they got back from training with Izumi he was pretty good at it and continued to take care of most of the cooking until the human transmutation. After they lost their bodies, he mostly stopped because a) he didn't need to feed Al anymore and b) he didn't really care about feeding himself as much beyond getting fuel so he could keep researching how to get their bodies back and c) once they started travelling it was inconvenient anyway so d) eating became just something to get out of the way as fast as possible so he could get back to researching.
I like to think that after everything he gets back to it though, his own small kind of alchemy, using raw materials to create something new through chemical processes. This goes for post-03 Ed in Germany too, with the added motivation of not being able to afford eating out a lot.
24. What character from another fandom of yours reminds you of them?
I've talked before about the parallels between Ed and Peter Parker, but lately I've also been thinking about Locke Lamora from the Gentleman Bastards books, who is also a snarky little shit with too much brains and confidence than is entirely good for him (I have a type). It's been too long since I read the books though, I'd have to go back and read them again to see if there's more similarities or if it's just vibes 😂
26. What animal do you associate with this character?
Oh, yes!! Well remembered! Making that post about MetalhEd and crows is still on my to do list lol but since you asked!
The day I first met @nino-saurier we were talking about which animals would best fit which FMA characters. And I had a hard time thinking of anything that would really fit Ed, so I said I had to think about it some more. And I did! And wrote them an essay about it later lol.
I was fairly certain Ed would be a bird, being freedom-loving, independent, never able to stay still for long. Considered migratory birds first, because even when he travels far, he always comes back home. But none quite fit. Considered owls and other birds of prey, but their temperament also wasn't quite right.
Then I thought of corvids, and my first instnct was like "no that's just because it fits his aesthetic, but that doesn't mean it actually fits his personality" but then I actually thought about it and...
Corvids are intelligent, obviously, they have an excellent memory, they can hold grudges, they are not naturally aggressive but you still don't want to get into a fight with them.
They are not exactly loners but also not the most social of animals.
They are very tough and resilient and can survive in very dire conditions.
Okay, I thought. Maybe there's something to that after all. So I went and actually looked into it in more detail and found this:
Corvids are extremely versatile and opportunistic
They usually live in mated pairs, though young birds may form a flock.
"Relationships between common ravens are often quarrelsome, yet they demonstrate considerable devotion to their families."
They are intelligent, skilled at problem-solving, young birds are extremely curious about all new things and also among the most playful bird species
Look, they are intelligent enough to be petty and spiteful: "ravens can recognise when they are given an unfair trade during reciprocal interactions with conspecifics or humans, retaining memory of the interaction for a prolonged period of time." (that's not very equivalent exchange of you!) "ravens in the wild have also been observed to stop cooperating with other ravens if they observe them cheating during group tasks"
Can we talk about the fact that ravens having a concept of cheating implies that they have morals. Like come on.
So uhhh yeah long story short, Edward Elric is a raven. And he would be thrilled about that, because ravens are badass and very metal. Now you know.

Review twisted pair HDMI extender Lenkeng LKV372AE
Main Features
The Lenkeng LKV372AE extender is considered basic in Lenkeng's lineup. It transmits video with a maximum resolution of 1080p at 60 Hz for a distance of up to 230 feet over a CAT6 cable. It should be noted that the cable category is based on the requirement for a 23 AWG wire cross-section. Theoretically, you can use CAT5e cable (24 AWG) and the range should be at least 130 feet. Going forward, during the tests we got more encouraging results for the range on CAT5e cable.
External view
The kit comes in a gray box without any advertising pictures. This usually suggests more professional applications, where "wrapping doesn't matter".
If you open the box, you can immediately see the transmitter, the receiver, and the instructions. Additional accessories (power supplies, IR transmitter, and IR receiver) are located under the soft padding.
The receiver and transmitter have a very compact design. What catches your eye are the lugs on the housing for easy mounting to surfaces. They will come in handy if you need to screw it to a wall or under a table. The transmitter and receiver housings are made entirely of high-quality metal. Except for the plastic overlay with HDMI Extender labeling, which displays the maximum range (70 meters is 230 feet) for information and to identify the Transmitter or Receiver. This plate is covered with a protective film that can be removed after installation.
There are connectors for HDMI, power, and IR transmitter and emitter connection on the front side of the transmitter and receiver. There are also the Reset button and the LED indicator that helps to determine if there is power and if there is contact between the devices. I would like to note a good fit of the inner board with connectors to the housing. All parts fit with minimal gaps and nothing inside is loose if you shake it.
In the package, you can find an IR emitter and an IR emitter for sending the IR signal back. This additional feature is very useful for controlling an IR remote control, e.g. a TV set-top box from the TV side. The Transmitter and Emitter come with double-sided adhesive tape for attaching to surfaces. It is very odd that it is supplied separately and not glued immediately
Right away we want to note the thickness of the metal from which the housing is made. It is thick enough. Perhaps this is because the smaller the housing, the better heat dissipation is needed. Anyway, we can see that the manufacturer did not try to save money here.
The board is inserted in special slots that secure it. And the edges of the board are insulated with special tape. In our opinion, the soldering is of high quality. The only disappointing thing is a little bit crooked gluing the cooling radiator to the chip. But it shouldn't affect the performance.
Performance testing
We prepared a small test bench which consisted of a laptop, a monitor, and a set of HDMI cables, CAT6 and CAT5e of several lengths. We would like to point out that for testing we used 6-ft HDMI cables, which is the standard for cables that come with many devices (monitors, TVs, set-top boxes). Initially, we tested the operation in standard mode - video transmission with 1080p 60Hz resolution using a CAT6 cable 230 feet long. We had no complaints at all. The video was transmitted on the laptop monitor and the external monitor through the transmitter and receiver set without distortion and visible delays.
During the next test, we replaced the CAT6 cable with a CAT5e, which has a smaller cross-section (CAT6 is AWG23, CAT5e is AWG24). Although the difference in the diameter of these cables is 20%, the vendor claimed that the kit should transmit video to a distance of up to 130 feet when using CAT5e cable. Maybe he decided to play it safe. We started our tests with 190 feet.
The test result surprised us because everything worked flawlessly. We can assume that it's all about the claimed performance characteristics:
In addition to the basic 1080p60Hz video specification, the manufacturer has said that 4:4:4 color can be transmitted as well as HDR10. These two video specifications require a lot more bandwidth. In reality, most users use video with 4:2:0 color sampling and without HDR10. Only a small fraction of users will require 4:2:2 and possibly HDR. So if you already have a CAT5e cable and are unable or do not want to change it to CAT6, then first it answers a few questions: 1. What length is needed? In practice, such devices are often used to extend the signal by 100-130 feet. 2. What type of video will you be transmitting? If you are going to transmit video from a laptop, CCTV, or TV set-top box, then most likely you will not need high color and HDR 3. What kind of application are you going to use the extender in? 4:2:2 color and HDR are typically used in home entertainment applications (movies, video clips, and games). And it is more applicable to 4K equipment. It is less applicable for 1080p.
Conclusion
In conclusion, we can say that the tested set pleased us with its good appearance, quality of assembly, and fit of parts. With some small imperfections, which do not affect the operation. We had no complaints In terms of performance, and we were even pleasantly surprised by the results. It all depends on the area of its application. We recommend buying the kit for those who need a high-quality inexpensive 1080p HDMI extender over twisted pair up to 230 feet.
