Joseon Era SKZoo cutouts destined to become keychains for the Summer Dominate concert.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
A few extra versions of Foxi.NY. Maknae on Top and the classic Cactus pose complete with a small cactus sidekick. Only about halfway through painting*
I am sure that a wood laser would make them 'faster' and more precise looking, but learning new software, maintaining a pricey machine in a sawdust filled environment and getting 4mm boards specifically for the machine is just a ton of extra hoops I can't be bothered with. So for the foreseeable future, I'll keep making these by hand.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Wolf Chan is stylized after the Joseon era King in his red robes with gold details on the front and shoulders. While Han Quokka got his outfit from a K-Drama called Flower Crew: Joseon Marriage Agency. There is NO CHANCE I will be able to actually paint the fancy Hanbok I saw though.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
This Foxi.NY is modeled after the regal blue and silver of the robes for the Crown Prince of Joseon. Bbokari has a more simple Hanbok tied at the waist with cord and holding a fan accessory. I tried a few versions a gat or samo hat and couldn't get them to look satisfactorily. Dwaekki is dressed to be a Buddhist Monk.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Leebit is rocking the Hwarang Poet Warrior look with a tiny cat with whiskers on the headband and a pawprint on the back of his tunic. Jineret is supposed to be wearing the robes of a court official, but I need to add cranes or an awkward chicken to that square on his front after painting. PuppyM is in a traditional guard outfit, but I may struggle to get the colors right.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Three shots of the 5" tall by 2 foot long board. All the cutouts are about 4" x 2", but I like to give space on the board to alter their ears, heights, pose/stance a tiny bit. Only about halfway through painting*
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Early sketches on the board this morning. Some of their heads could be leaner or wider, but they turned out decently well. After penciling them on the boards I use a Detail Master Saber IV pyrography tool to burn the outlines and edges in. Then I use a bandsaw or scroll saw to cut the outlines. Next I use a file and sandpaper to clean up the edges a bit. After that I mark the sides and back with more pencil lines on what needs to be burned in if the piece is a front and back project. Finally I take pictures and go to the painting stage. When painting is complete, occasionally I'll add more fine line details with colored pencils on top of the acrylic paint or glue on chains or cords or other accessories. Then it is spraying both sides with a few protective clear coats. It is easier to add the keychain hardware and hang them to spray both sides and drying tome is faster. However I don't like to do it with the hardware attached as it makes the metal a bit tacky in texture and feel.

The Manufacturing Process of High-Quality Stud Bolts Explained | Step-by-Step Guide
If you work in construction, oil and gas, or heavy machinery, you know that high-quality stud bolts are essential for structural integrity and durability. But have you ever wondered how these bolts are made?
Manufacturing industrial-grade stud bolts involves a step-by-step precision process that ensures strength, accuracy, and long-term performance. In this guide, I’ll walk you through the entire manufacturing process of high-quality stud bolts, from raw material selection to final inspection.
By the end, you’ll understand what makes a stud bolt reliable, corrosion-resistant, and fit for demanding environments. This knowledge will also help if you're sourcing other fasteners like foundation bolts, foundation J bolts, U bolts, or U clamps from a trusted anchor bolt manufacturer.
Tumblr media
Raw Material Selection
The process starts with choosing the right raw material. The most common materials for stud bolts and foundation bolts include:
Carbon steel – Ideal for general applications requiring moderate strength.
Alloy steel – Provides higher strength and heat resistance, commonly used in oil and gas.
Stainless steel – Offers excellent corrosion resistance, perfect for marine and chemical environments.
The quality of the raw material directly affects the strength, durability, and load-bearing capacity of the stud bolt, foundation J bolts, and U bolts. Leading stainless steel U bolt manufacturers ensure that their products meet ASTM, ASME, or DIN standards, ensuring reliability in demanding conditions.
Cutting and Shaping the Stud Bolt
Once the raw material is selected, it is cut into precise lengths using:
Shearing machines for fast and efficient cutting.
Bandsaws or circular saws for more precise cuts, ensuring uniformity.
The cut metal pieces, also called billets, are then shaped to the required diameter and length based on the specifications of the stud bolt, foundation bolts, or U bolts.
Thread Rolling and Heat Treatment
Thread Rolling Process
The next critical step is creating precise, strong, and uniform threads on the stud bolts. Manufacturers use:
Thread rolling machines for cold-forming the threads, ensuring a stronger grain structure.
Cut threading for specialty foundation J bolts and U bolts where precise customization is needed.
Cold-rolled threads are preferred in high-performance applications because they increase fatigue resistance and durability.
Heat Treatment for Strength
To enhance mechanical properties, stud bolts, foundation bolts, and U bolts undergo heat treatment, which includes:
Hardening and tempering – Improves tensile strength and wear resistance.
Quenching and annealing – Reduces internal stresses, preventing cracks and failures.
Heat treatment plays a vital role in improving the overall toughness of the stud bolt, foundation J bolts, and U clamps, making them capable of withstanding extreme loads and temperatures.
Surface Coating and Finishing
To ensure corrosion resistance and longevity, the stud bolts, foundation bolts, and U bolts are coated using different protective finishes, such as:
Zinc plating – Prevents rust and oxidation in mild environments.
Hot-dip galvanizing – Ideal for outdoor and marine applications.
Teflon coating – Provides high resistance to chemicals and extreme temperatures.
Black oxide treatment – Enhances wear resistance and aesthetics.
The choice of coating depends on the application requirements, ensuring the stud bolts, foundation J bolts, and clamps can withstand harsh environments without degrading.

OKMO Microcosm Model M31 Vertical Steam Engine Single Cylinder First run on live steam of this beautiful brass casted vertical steam engine. Really happy with DIY Modifications that I did and the two timber plinths. Made lots of items using my metal lathe and milling machine. The condenser pot was made using three copper plumbing items cut down on the bandsaw, turned on the lathe and drilling and tapping on the milling machine. The inline lubricator needed a complete rebuild and needed to be silver brazed back together. Not sure if the lubricator was made by Stuarts in the U.K or not, I made a new screw top for it and knurled it and put an Australian Miniature Steam Models MSM turn wheel on.
