Aaaaaaand it's a slightly damp Mr. Baggins back with your Afternoon Stack of Classic Wax for this Friday. I've set the Wayback Machine to 1972 for this appropriate hit from The Dramatics.

The Sylistics debuted with a string of hits in '72, starting with this one. Issued in '71, charted a few months later in '72. Here is "You Are Everything".

They followed up a few months later with another cut from their debut album, "Betcha By Golly Wow".

Another vocal harmony soul group that hit it big in '71-'72, The Chi-Lites gave us this classic.

I still have my copy of this one...well-worn. Mavis and the rest of the family took us there.

Billy Preston, fresh off his gigs with The Beatles, hit it big with this instrumental, Outa-Space.

And the Cornelius Brothers and Sister Rose gave us a string of hits, beginning with this one: Too Late To Turn Back Now.

Luther Ingram hit it big with this tale of surreptitious lovin' in '72, "(If Loving You is Wrong) I Don't Want To Be Right"

This one became a huge hit for The Main Ingredient. Any record with the line "You say you even thinkin' 'bout DYIN'? Well, before you do anything RASH, dig THIS!" is OK by me.

And Harold Melvin and The Blue Notes gave us this classic in '72 "If You Don't Know Me By Now".
