Meiyazhagan is such a beautiful beautiful movie. I love it. Arvid Swamy outdid himself. His acting is top notch and the whole slow plot, soft aesthetics, the love for the native place, the underlying nostalgia. Everything kind of ties the movie together. 10/10. It will probably become my comfort movie too

Got to see "Meiyazhagan" in Netflix - worth watchable probably, more than once. I watched it for the reason that it got a lot of positive reviews and looking at the trailer it appeared firm and assertive. If we take into account the films made by RV Udayakumar, R K Selvamani and Vasanth that were the directors of 90s, created a huge impact on filmgoers those days, this is one such film. On those lines this director makes a mark and will surely create an affinity among the 2k audience to whom he tries to anchor through his story. But, this is not a regular storytelling that carries a routine format of drawing the viewers' attention by songs and dance numbers - no, definitely don't watch with that in mind! Towards the end of the movie, it'll make you happy, highly and genuinely emotional and appreciate it's hidden intelligence as Arvindswamy tries to recollect his memory as if solving a mathematical puzzle.

The visuals of the village are pleasing and are relatable to most of the city dwellers who backpack for their native villages after a long or even short hiatus. Nevertheless, I had this question? Are there people like Meiyazhagan still in countryside? Because technological developments have spread wide and far where innocence have started eroding all over the world? One can whatsapp within no time and if you miss a bus, one can always book a cab even from a remotest place? Leaving these inhibitions away, "Meiyazhagan" has done its job. Never at any point, Karthi tries to shoot back with anger against a caustic Arvindswamy though he might have, if he wished. This kind of fulfilling moments we had it during those 'Keladi Kanmani', 'Kizhakku Vasal' and 'Pulan Visaranai' days.

One can talk about beauty of European countries, beauty of Japan and other developed nations , yet our native Tamil villages are overflowing with innocence, divinity and remains costly due to its sanctitude which cannot be purchased by monetary values.
