Sussexes visited La Boquilla in Cartagena and toured San Basilio de Palenque."
"San Basilio de Palenque, Historical significance: It is the first town in the Americas that freed itself from slavery, founded by escaped African captives. In the early 1600's they opposed oppression and due to that, the Town of San Basilio represents the African emancipation from servitude in America until today."
"Benkos Biohó (late 16th century — 1621), also known as Domingo Biohó was a Mandinka and South American leader who escaped from the slave port of Cartagena with ten others and founded San Basilio de Palenque, then known as the 'village of the maroons', located in what is now Northern Colombia. In 1713 it became the first free village in the Americas by decree from the King of Spain, when he gave up sending his troops on futile missions to attack their fortified mountain hideaway."
-
"Benkos Biohó was born into a royal family in Guinea Bissau. He was of Mandinka origin."
Many educated, well-off, and royal Africans were kidnapped and enslaved. One of the many reasons why the enslaved in the Americas (and other areas of the world because Africans were kidnapped and enslaved / taken around the world)…one of the many reasons they become free…you can't enslave royalty and powerful people and expect them to remain a down-trodden trapped people. They find ways to free themselves.
I think many Africans in the Americas who were enslaved were the first stolen in order to destroy their people, when you kidnap the best of the bunch, it is easier to destroy the land, village, and areas…this is why as many Africans were enslaved, soon after hundreds if not thousands of villages in Africa were destroyed, so much history disappeared.

VP of Colombia did her country proud. She coordinated with the Sussexes & each team help to create an itinerary showing the best Colombia had to offer. In just one visit many stigmas & negative images evaporated & left was respect, awe, & fun salsa dancing.

Reading not only international posts but also from Colombia & even people in their own country are discovering the wonders & areas of Afro-Colombia. This may be a new era of inclusion & respect for Afro-Colombians in their country.

Meghan was moving those hips in the salsa capital of the world. Harry most likely learned some new moves to keep up with her.
-
"Cali, Colombia is known as the 'Salsa Capital of the World' because of its rich salsa music history, street parties, and dance. The city's salsa is characterized by a faster rhythm, different steps and techniques, and an accelerated beat. Cali also has the world's largest salsa record archive, the World Salsa Championship, and the World Salsa Festival.
Salsa is so ingrained in Cali's culture that you can hear the music in every restaurant, shop, and cab. The city has many salsa clubs and bars that are always full of dancers, and over 200 dance schools where you can learn the basics. Some say that Cali is a great place to learn salsa because it breaks down barriers of age, race, gender, and nationality, and people from many different backgrounds come together on the dance floor."
-
"A city full of rhythm
Cali is known by the rest of Colombia as the 'Rumba Capital' and by the world as the 'Salsa Capital', thanks to its characteristic street parties and dance."

Colombia VP say like Meghan Markle she too gets attacked by news as a POC. Racists UK Tabloids & derangers use the biased press against VP to put her down & disrespect Colombia.
Twice Charles & once Sophia invited themselves to Colombia, completely ignored the brown & darker people of the country, UK press never uplifted Colombia, only praised the other royals when they visited.
When other UK royals visited Colombia they were shown being 'saviors' as they interacted with passive poverty stricken & tormented Colombians suffering & happy royals took time to visit such lowly commoners, so UK press reported.
With Sussexes visit, they were invited guests of Colombia VP who took them on a tour to showcase their diverse people, cultures, strength & how the people uplift themselves, Sussexes shared joy & respect with Colombians.
UK tabloids continue to call Colombia dangerous, dirty, crime ridden & everything the Sussexes do put down the people in their effort to taint the couple.
Yet while the other royals came empty-handed, the Sussexes bring ways to help Colombia, & Colombia share how Invictus Games has encouraged & given hope to their veterans.

Some surprised Colombia has many people of African descent. More than 60% of stolen Africans were sent to South America, which has far more people of African descent than in North America.
Hidden History: Many people of the Americas look similar in skin tone & hair texture to Natives of the Pacific Islands such as Australia, some of these Indigenous people live on Reservations.
White dominated countries rarely highlight darker Natives of the Americas, or Central or South American people of African descent, even countries of the Americas ignore them & many times pretend they don't exist.
The Latin people who conquered the Americas had a different way of enslaving, this is why many Natives of South & Central America still exist, & many look dark skinned with mixed people's type hair. They constantly show proof they have been in the Americas before the Europeans invaded.
Am glad VP of Colombia is of African descent & brought the Sussexes on a tour of all the representations of the people in Colombia, including those of African descent.

I noticed each international trip the Sussexes visit a country always includes a nation which participates in Invictus Games (IG). Featured are the people, culture, Sussex & Archewell causes, & of course Veterans & IG.
The VP of Colombia initially invited Meghan Markle a year ago, and the trip included many causes both Sussexes believe in, including the Invictus Games.

Argentinians are claiming Meghan, and some in the Latin world are exclaiming, 'Do you know she is a Latino? Prince Harry married a Latino!' Latinos now claim her.
Meghan Markle said she learned how to speak Spanish 20 years ago in Argentina.
