After six long years, famed blogger Meghan Markle may finally be resurrecting her defunct lifestyle site, the Tig. Markle pulled the plug on her “passion project” in 2017, shortly before becoming engaged to her partner in crimes of corniness, Prince Harry. But now? Now she may be bringing back her beloved Tig: According to the Mirror and the New York Post, Markle has filed with the U.S. Trademark and Patent Office to launch a “revamped” version of the site — covering “food, cooking, recipes, travel, relationships, fashion, style, interior design, lifestyle, the arts, culture, design, conscious living, health and wellness” — as soon as next week.

A natural next question for you to ask at this juncture would be: What is a Tig? Debuted in 2014, Markle’s Tig took its name from Tignanello, the wine that finally allowed her to “get” wine and thus became her shorthand for the feeling of suddenly understanding something. Thus her site was devoted to “those Tig moments of discovery,” if that makes sense to you, and also to topics like her dog, cooking, fashion, avocado toast, books and her “badass reading list,” personal revelations, self-love — the list goes on. magazine in February 2019, when she paid for an ice-cream stand for staff. “They were remarking how it was the ‘best day of work ever’,” a friend said.    Some of those who worked for Meghan after she joined the royal family have less fond memories. Staff were bullied, according to sources, and some reduced to tears. One said they were humiliated by her on a number of occasions. According to the complaint revealed by

today, two PAs were driven from the household. The duchess denies any allegations of bullying.    

My source said it was like walking on eggshells to be around Meghan.  

The first sign that anything might be amiss came when a story appeared in a diary column in a national newspaper saying that Meghan’s personal assistant had left six months after the royal wedding. 

A week later the assistant was named in another paper as Melissa Touabti. “Meghan put a lot of demands on her and it ended up with her in tears,” a source was reported as saying.Touabti was not the first member of staff to leave. 

Before her there was another PA, a young woman already employed by the palace. She did not stay long after Meghan arrived.      

Both PAs signed non-disclosure agreements. There is no suggestion that Meghan tried to prevent them from speaking. Lawyers for the duke and duchess stated that she had no knowledge of the agreements and that they believed staff to be comfortable and happy. 

      That's a lie, MM is crazy about NDAs and made Harry sign one after she dictated the statement over the phone in 2016. Everyone signs one who works for the firm. Harry is well aware of this.

   In late 2017, after Harry and Meghan’s engagement was announced, a senior aide spoke to the couple about the difficulties caused by their treatment of staff. Meghan is so fake and phony, if those people can't help her get to be an A-lister, they are toast.

Young women were broken by their behaviour.” The source described one member of staff as “completely destroyed”.      Even before the wedding, staff were feeling the strain. One told a colleague the couple were “outrageous bullies” and said they were considering resigning. The colleague replied: “That’s so dreadful. And they are bullies.”      

The  harsh treatment was not confined to junior staff. One source claimed that Samantha Cohen, the couple’s private secretary, had been bullied. Another said: “They treated her terribly. Nothing was ever good enough. This Boxing Day, the Queen and the Duke of Edinburgh will be alone at Windsor Castle, not, as every other year, with the extended family at Sandringham. Still, Sandringham is where we’ll be picturing them all today, log fires crackling, corgis dozing, champagne coupes filled to the brim.

Season four of the Netflix series The Crown may have done the monarchy few favours, but it managed to make the Queen’s annual Christmas house party look twinkly, fun and unexpectedly warm (Princess Diana was wearing a sleeveless dress in the closing minutes of the final episode; there aren’t many country houses in the UK where you could get away with that in December). And not a bar heater or Tupperware container in sight.

Whatever your view of Peter Morgan’s dramatisation of the Windsors’ recent history, it has undeniably shunted the Royal family into our everyday consciousness.

For so long, we’ve barely given them a thought, in between births and weddings and the occasional scandal, but this year we were intrigued as never before, and most of all by the royal women. This has been the year all the royal ladies ruled, and we couldn’t get enough of them, starting with:

Princess Anne

The Queen's no-nonsense only daughter has become more popular thanks to her portrayal on The Crown CREDIT: Reuters There’s been a kind of national consensus this year that the Princess Royal is the one we overlooked and underestimated; the royal whose guts, dry wit, general chutzpah and individual style were never really appreciated because of the time and her position in the pecking order.

Looking back at pictures of Anne on her wedding day, she is every bit as dazzling as Diana was, and that Zandra Rhodes dress makes Di’s look like a dowager’s shower curtain. The silk scarf tied around her hair with that baker boy cap planted on top was one signature look that we cannot believe didn’t catch on – and still might. Anne always had a reputation for being a bit of a tough matron who was only interested in horses, but this year (with a little help from The Crown), we’ve come around to the idea that she was, and is, quite a bit more than that.

Still scary, though. (In a poll of The Crown viewers, she’s up 15 per cent, popularity-wise.)

The Duchess of Cambridge

People like the simplicity of her approach, from the “mum to mum” message, to her MOR appearance.

This year, more than 50 per cent of her clothes were high street, including M&S, and we can say with confidence (after the “bronde” highlights makeover) that she’s got the high-low, future-queen/approachable-young mother balance spot on. We’re not fascinated by Kate. But since the Fab Four break-up, and the Sussexes’ defection to Netflix, we’re more conscious of the burden she carries. Then again, who needed all that competition? We’re betting Kate wakes up every day now thinking, “thank God I’m not going to get hassled for not giving Her a lift to Whole Foods”. (Popularity rating not polled … we guess up 22 per cent.)

Princess Diana

That Martin Bashir interview was back in the news and its impact was hashed over again. We learnt everything there was to know about bulimia and rooted out the best of the Di documentaries (namely Diana: In Her Own Words, a 2017 Netflix gem that has you on the edge of your seat, even though you thought you knew it all). Three years ago, we simply weren’t that interested. Now, we’re in the grip of Di mania the like of which hasn’t been seen since 1981.

Those clothes that are always threatening to make a comeback and never quite do – dungarees, jolly patterned jumpers, giant collars, pearl drop earrings – all turned up in women’s wardrobes and at every opportunity, however tenuous, a picture of Diana was splashed across the news. Nearly 40 years on, something of that early-1980s mood is back – the chintz, the cocktails, the disco soundtrack, the longing for old-fashioned dinner party fun. Honestly, we’re more interested now than we were the first time. (Up a whopping 30 per cent.)

Princess Margaret

A reappraisal of Princess Margaret has been building for some time now CREDIT: Anwar Hussein/Getty Images A newfound interest in Margaret, the glamorous if troubled princess, has been rumbling along for a few years, revitalised by Craig Brown’s Ma’am Darling in 2017 and Lady Glenconner’s 2019 autobiography. But on it goes, and now Helena Bonham Carter claims to take inspiration from the rudest of the royals since playing her in The Crown.

At this point, Margaret’s image has shifted from overindulged monster to sad spare sister; we’re just happy to be along for the ride wherever it might lead next. (Popularity rating not polled: we guess 13 per cent up).

The Queen

Her Majesty steadied the buffs in April with her “we’ll meet again” broadcast (even the French turned on in their droves), and her solitary appearance in Westminster Abbey on Remembrance Sunday, almost hidden under her black hat and mask, made us all feel a surge of affection and concern. Now 94 years old, and no longer bolstered by the presence of Philip, this year the Queen has felt less remote, even though she’s been out of sight most of the time.

Somehow knowing she’s been locked away with all the other great-grannies, watching The Crown in her dressing gown with a tray supper and a heavy heart (“oh, poor Margaret Thatcher”) has made us feel extra warmly towards her. Now just a screenshot of her in spirit-uplifting clashing red and pink (“our brightest and best today, Angela, don’t you think?”) is a stabilising tonic. It just works. (Up 25 per cent, ahead of all the living royals. Naturally.)

Meghan Markle

Dear, oh dear. But we did sort of see it coming, albeit not quite so fast or with quite so many toe-curling moments. This year, we went even more off Meghan for many reasons, but mainly for turning Harry into The Little Book of Calm man.

Is this sexist woman-blaming? Is Harry not an adult male, capable of deciding whether or not it’s sensible to say things like “being in nature is the most healing part of life. I truly believe that’s one reason why it’s there”?

Well, no and no. That once ramrod back has an arm up it and those words are the words of Netflix’s own documentary maker, Meghan. 🤣  She’s walked away from the greatest show on earth. (Not polled. Down… quite a bit).

Lockdown won’t stop the Duke and Duchess of Sussex from celebrating their son’s first birthday in Malibu, California.

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have an organic homemade birthday cake, meaningful gifts and fun on the cards for their son Archie's first birthday.

Royal expert Katie Nicholl exclusively tells OK! “Meghan’s an amazing cook and loves being creative in the kitchen so I think she’ll have been busy baking so Archie can enjoy his first taste of birthday cake this week. It will be organic and possibly sugar-free. Something suitably healthy for a one year old.

“If the weather’s good, I think they’ll be splashing around in the pool too.” 

With the Sussexes self-isolating, Meghan’s mum Doria Ragland, who lives a 40-minute drive away in Los Angeles, will have to wish her grandson a happy birthday from a safe distance on 6 May. But Archie won’t be lonely thanks to the presence of his best pals, Guy the Beagle and Oz the Labrador.

“Those two dogs are the family’s saving grace,” says Katie. “They’re extremely good with Archie and he’s very used to them. With no playdates in the diary, I think they’re his best friends at the moment.”

When it comes to gifts, Archie certainly won’t go without on his big day, but that doesn’t mean he’ll be spoilt rotten.

“Archie has everything he needs but his parents don’t spend silly money on toys and clothes,” says Katie. “Gifts for his new nursery will be welcome but they’ll also appreciate presents that hold meaning rather than material value, such as a donation to a children’s charity or sponsoring an animal in the wild.”

There were reports that HM the Queen was buying him a wooden rocking horse, but Katie says, “that’s not really her style, she tends to give understated gifts.” She adds, “The Queen will wish him happy birthday this week via Zoom as will the Cambridge children. They haven’t seen their little cousin in months so they’ve been looking forward to seeing how much he’s grown.”

Something Archie would no doubt love is a sibling. “A little brother of sister for Archie is very much on the agenda,” reports Katie. “Harry says they’d stop at two so that’s a good indication that two is the magic number for them. They do have a lot going on at the moment, looking for a permanent residence, preparing the launch of their charity and finding their feet in a new town, but they seem to relish being busy and it really wouldn’t surprise me if we get a pregnancy announcement.”

It’s believed that Harry and Meghan currently have their nanny, housekeeper and a private security team staying on the premises. “They’re a hands-on couple so they don’t require a chef or butler,” says Katie. “They’ve never wanted a big entourage at home, partly because they don’t like the fuss but also because they’re quite private.”

Archie is already the most well-travelled royal for his age, visiting southern Africa on his first royal tour last autumn, nipping over to France to see ‘uncle Elton’ and, according to Meghan’s friend Serena Williams, a trip to New York. He has also called Canada and Windsor his home.

“Now the Sussexes are based in the States, Archie’s life will be very different from that of his cousins with far less formality and tradition,” says Katie. “He’ll speak with an American accent and experience a completely different culture. He’ll also be mingling with the children of Hollywood stars, although it’s fair to say that it’s Archie who’ll be the most popular playdate for some time to come.”

Someone who knows all about sunny California-living is local resident and famed showbiz reporter Sam Rubin.

“Thanks to the good climate, Archie will enjoy a great outdoors lifestyle growing up,” he tells OK! “Harry plays polo, so when Archie’s older he might want to take him riding at one of the exclusive equestrian centres. Hiking and surfing will also be on offer.”

Describing the school system as “very competitive”, Sam suggests that Archie’s name will already be on the waiting list of “one of the elite private nursery schools”. He thinks The Center for Early Education in West Hollywood, where Beyonce and Jay-Z’s eight-year-old daughter Blue Ivy goes, is a potential.

Another contender is The Nest School in Brentwood, which takes children from two years and nine months. With its Montessori-based teaching, it boasts that “the individual spirit of the child is our first priority”. Classes include yoga, art appreciation and language skills. With Malibu a hotspot for earthquakes, Archie will also learn the ‘Duck and Cover’ earthquake drill too.

Sam says it’s no surprise that the couple picked Malibu as their US base, especially with close friends Ellen DeGeneres, Priyanka Chopra and James Corden living nearby. He’s even picked out the private, gated-community in Sierra Canyon as the perfect permanent base for the family in the future.

“Malibu has become a very sought-after location during lockdown. Places are being snapped up and Harry and Meghan were lucky to get in when they did.”

By all standards and definitions, not only has Meghan had a "revenge dress", she has not even had a revenge dress "moment" yet. With the way she operates and everything she has done, she is quite unlikely to have her own "rising from the ashes" situation. She is the sorts who just can't quite trying to make fetch happen. So she won't really go away even if or when she is cancelled by the social media mob for some dumbfuckery. (The way her friend messica was).

And if she doesn't go away, can she really come back?

It would be more like some fashion moment she would try to have, the way amber Heard did at the trial. (Not that we are ever likely to see Meghan in court on trial like amber was).

She has, for the longest time, trying to make her bare shoulders happen. And everytime she does a public event (or collects awards) wearing something bare shouldered, she is trying to have her iconic moment. I would call it her take on the iconic bond dress moment. She did it at the catestrophic car chase awards. The Invictus event where she wore the seaweed green recycled plastic tube dress. Nigeria. Etc etc.

I think she is trying to associate that style as the iconic Meghan markled fashion. But she is inconsistent. We have previously had similar seasons of her with the giant pantsuits, the giant grandpa pants, the skort-suits+Bermuda pants seasons, and now the tube dress season.

Rumours were that she had her heart set on dior and had even commissioned a white dior gown for the coronation. Maybe that was intended to be her revenge dress. Thankfully, we never got to see it.

It is my guess that she would eventually, someday, quite unexpectedly have her revenge dress moment. It would be the day she gets papped, accidentally on purpose at a car park, crying, the day after she files for divorce after Harry's affair news breaks. Just like amber Heard was papped exiting the court after filing her divorce. It is also my guess that would be 2 days before her op-ed in NYP goes viral - How I survived leaving everything for the man who left me for his brother.

Someone once told Meghan that her shoulders were her best feature and it doesn't take a genius to know that, because (as you've pointed out, anon) that's all Meghan wears now: dresses that show off her shoulders.

It's like those pageant girls who get their color theories done when they're 14, and then they wear only that color for the rest of their lives.

If the Sussexes have complaints or struggles that they feel need addressing, whizzing into London to emphasize a connection with Canada and not meeting with PC wasn't the best plan.

Much of the worst media coverage that upset the Sussexes involved MM's family. She is estranged from the paternal side, for reasons that she and PH had control over, and the maternal side (other than the mother) are MIA. A reporter wrote recently that the couple did not provide attention and care for the father as they should have. MM declared her devotion to her dad pre Harry. So why not patch things up rather than sending a letter and getting friends to leak comments about it so that he'll leak it? The letter was clearly written for public consumption. Patch things up and cut negative Piers Morgan style critique off at its knees.

People acuse MM of delivering wokeish, word salad nonsense. This is a cutting criticism. Observe Camilla. She had to overcome extreme resistence to her - maybe even from HM. She gets on with it, supporting charities that do some of the most difficult work. She shares the spotlight with Prince Charles but lets him shine. It wasn't Diana's fault but when they did walkabouts he'd joke about the side of the street that was stuck with him but probably wanted to see Diana. You don't see this with Kate and Camilla. There is a concerted effort to avoid the Diana Effect.

It takes time to build relationships and projects - many months. Years in fact. Slow and steady gets results and avoids missteps, bad planning and burnout.

If MM's clothes are described as inappropriate or overpriced, step away from the Givenchy and the 4th version of the expensive coat you want to own. Wear more affordable brands as much as possible, feature British brands first and hire a British stylist who is old enough to understand what's appropriate to wear.

Rich people’s jets [and other assets such as use of property? TeamCressida add on here]— in this case a Gulfstream reportedly paid for by George and Amal Clooney — always come with a bill attached, even if it’s not the kind you can pay with a Duchy of Cornwall credit card.

Favours must be returned, obligations quickly multiply and pretty soon royal free-riders are handing over their most precious assets: credibility and dignity, if not, please God, their lives. (Patrick Jephson)

If paparazzi treatment of the past and the car crash causes ptsd, talk with people like Jephson who knew Princess Diana well. She spoke with editors on the phone and there were times when photographing her worked for her. Other times they were tiring or upset her. It would help if the crash investigation had been more thorough. Why did the driver's blood match the profile of someone who had asphiciated in a garage? Why are there rumours about Special Forces being there? Two words - land mines. Why did the French doctor driving behind see a group of men do "no survivor" military signs? Why did the owner of the Fiat die in a locked car that burnt? Endless questions.

Maybe PH wouldn't find reportage mode on cameras upsetting if he saw a broader picture about his mum and the media. And then he could revisit this topic with PW. PW offered his mum a lot of emotional support. As the older offspring, he understood and knew her more.

Prince Charles has carved new paths, taken risks and created new initiatives. I'm sure that he and PH could work out a plan.
