Since the beginning Buddy had always kept Soundwave on his pedes

The first time they met cemented that fact.

Soundwave and Megatronus were walking back to their quarters when they spotted something moving in the ruble.

They didn’t think of anything at first, maybe it was a turbofox in the trash heap.

Soundwave froze in his tracks when he heard the familiar sounds of chirping coming from one of the bins.

Soundwave went closer and froze when he saw a sparkling inside the bin playing with some wires.

Before he could do anything, the trashbot had grabbed the bin with the sparkling in it.

Soundwave: “Megatronus!”

Soundwave started climbing on the large trashbot. Megatronus: “Soundwave what are you doing?!” Soundwave trying to reach the bin: “There’s a sparkling in the bin!” Little chirps get louder. Megatronus: “By the Allspark!” Later… Orion walking to the gladiator’s quarters. Megatronus: “Orion!” Orion smiles as he turns around: “Mega—By the Pious Pool! What happened to you two!?” Megatronus and Soundwave were covered in dirty and scraps. Soundwave had a little bundle in his arms. Orion: “Is that a sparkling?” Soundwave: “Yes.” Orion: “How did all of… this happen?” Megatronus and Soundwave: “Trashbot.”

Soundwave had originally planned on taking her to the nearby orphanage the next day.

He was a gladiator for Primus sake!

He wasn’t fit to be a caretaker.

But all that changed when he was outside the doors of the orphanage.

The little chirps and buzzes from the sparkling grew louder as he drew closer.

Soundwave’s servo ghosted over the handles of the doors looking down at the sparkling.

The sparkling had gently placed both their servos on his faceplate.

Megatronus in his habsuite sharpening his blades. Soundwave enters the room. Megatronus without looking up: “I see you’ve finally return—” Soundwave: “Hold please.” Megatronus looks up and is shocked to see the sparkling from the day before being thrusted into his faceplate. He quickly holds the giggling sparkling: “I thought you were going to return her?” Soundwave: “She’s mine now.” Megatronus: “What?” Soundwave: “Mine.”

It was difficult to keep the sparkling safe within the arena and quarters.

For one, Soundwave and Megatronus had made more allies within the gladiator ranks to help keep watch of the little one, especially when inspections came around.

And two, this sparkling was highly energetic, clumsy, and accidental prone.

Thankfully if Buddy liked the babysitters, all they had to worry was the sparkling getting a new dent from touching a smooth surface.

However, if she doesn’t like them, Buddy is going to hide.

No one has been successful in finding the sparkling.

It’s only when Soundwave is at the front door is when she comes out.

When Soundwave has repairs done, it’s usually Uncle Megatronus and the minicons who watch over her.

Soundwave enters the habsuite ready to pick up Buddy. He sees Megatronus lightly tossing Buddy in the air with Lazerbeak playfully hovering nearby. CLICK! Megatronus freezes hearing the click pulling the sparkling closer to his chassis. He turns to see Soundwave with a picture him and Buddy on his visor. Megatronus: “Soundwave… delete that.” Soundwave: “I’ll delete it.” Megatronus: "Good—” Soundwave: "After I send this to myself and to Pax.” Megatronus: "Soundwave! He doesn’t need—I mean—no one needs to see that!” Soundwave: “Too late.” With Orion… Orion nearly spits out his energon cube seeing the picture. Ratchet looking at him with some concern: “You all right Pax?” Orion coughs a bit before showing him the photo. Ratchet nearly glitches seeing it.

On certain inspection days, Buddy is sent to Uncle Orion and Uncle Ratchet until the inspection is over.

Soundwave is not as close to the bots as Megatronus is, but he trusts Megatronus enough to let her go.

He still has no idea what made her love the two bots so much.

Buddy loves her little family.

But things started to change when Megatronus finally got his movement going.

The movement for change.

The movement that made Soundwave take a vow of silence.

Buddy understood to a point it was to help Uncle Megatronus… but that didn’t mean the transition was smooth.

It got easier to read Soundwave’s frame movements over time, but to say it was a pain to understand at first would be an understatement.

Buddy holding something: “Is this it?” Soundwave shakes his helm before pointing again. Buddy throws the object over her shoulder and grabs another object: “How about this thing?” Soundwave shakes his helm before looking at the pile shake. He starts rushing to the pile as it falls. Buddy shrieks as she falls. BAM! The two end up falling in the heap. Buddy suddenly bursts out laughing. Soundwave had a box stuck on his helm.

Buddy didn’t quite understand what had happened between Uncle Megatronus, now Megatron, and Orion, now Optimus Prime.

All she was told was that Orion was a traitor and any of his follwers were now considered the enemy.

Buddy took those words to spark.

While she could not agree with everything the Decepticon’s did, she was still a Con through and through.

Buddy wanted to join the spy division just like her father, but it was immediately denied by both him and Megatron himself.

Megatron: “Buddy, this is just getting repetive at this point. Our answer is no.” Soundwave: “No.” Buddy pouting a bit: “If I can just get a chance to prove that I can be just a good spy—” Megatron: “Buddy, you do not have the necessary skill set a spy has.” Buddy waves her servos back: “What makes you say that!” Buddy’s servo bumps into a passing drone, who in return bumps into several other drones in an almost domino effect before a bucket goes flying and lands on her helm; she yelps a bit trying to get it off only to smack face first into the wall. Megatron and Soundwave wince at the display. Soundwave walks over and carefully plucks the bucket from her helm. Buddy looks at him with a sheepish expression. Soundwave: “You have… your… answer…no… spying for… you.”

Instead, Buddy gets partnered up with Breakdown in overseeing the Vechicons.

It wasn’t a bad job really.

Most of the Vechicons were nice and she rather enjoyed working alongside Breakdown.

Breakdown doesn’t mind working with the youngest Con on the Nemeisis.

In a way it was refreshing, especially after dealing with Starscream.

Since buddy worked so close to Breakdown, it was only natural that she’d get close to Knockout.

Knockout cares for the kid, he does.

But by Primus does he nearly get strokes every time she comes into the medbay with new dents or something on her frame.

Knockout finally finishing cleaning his tools. Knockout: “Finally! Its was about time I—” KNOCK! KNOCK! Breakdown enters in with Steve and a large crate wheeled behind them. Knockout: “Did we get new equipment?” Buddy from inside the crate: “Not yet.” Knockout jumps a bit before looking inside the crate. Buddy was at the bottom of the crate in a slightly cramped position. Knockout looking at Breakdown and Steve: “And pray tell how did… this happen?” Breakdown and Steve both give each other a look. Breakdown: “Its best you don’t know.” Buddy: “If its okay with you guys, I’d really like to feel my pedes on the floor and not so close to my helm.” Knockout sighs before looking for the chainsaw: “Can’t wait to hear this story.”

I love flowers but I don’t know much so I might get some meanings wrong

Symbolizes both uncertainty, respect, chivalry, and good fortune.

Also I think they look like a little sun.

Lily:

They can mean devotion and if that’s not Wukong I don’t know what is.

Daisies:

They represent innocence and I think that would be younger Wukong when he didn’t know much about the world. Also, they mostly grow in bundles with a lot of daisies. That’s him and his kids :)

Iris:

They represent faith and wisdom. Wukong is extremely intelligent and I’m pretty sure he is still faithful in Buddhism.

Chrysanthemum:

They represent long lasting friendships. Wukong loves his friends and cherishes them. This flower fits him :)

Inktober Days 19-21

Day 19: "Plump"

Fat! Bear! Week! It’s perhaps the most beloved modern tradition to come out of a national park, when enthusiasts around the globe tune in to the Katmai webcams to see the results of a summer of brown bears gorging on salmon. We root them on, following their progress as they go from springtime skin and bones to mega-autumn chonk in just a few months. Watching these immense bears prowling Brooks Falls for leaping fish is so captivating that at some parks, during slow moments in the visitor centers, we would switch on the webcam feeds at the information desk. Rangers come from all different backgrounds, with all different affiliations and alma maters, but few things bring us all together like cheering on a wild bear eating wild salmon.

Day 20: "Frost"

One of the privileges of working in northern mountain parks is the early coming of cool weather. Born and raised in South Carolina, few things make me feel more alive than a brush of autumn in August. I remember that first welcome moment in Glacier, when I climbed out of the government truck at Logan Pass for my shift in the high country. There was frost on the mountain slopes and a snap in the air. My breath fogged in front of my face, and the wind whipped through my park green sweater and jacket. Back at home, it was ninety-five degrees and humid, but on that morning, I swapped my flat hat for my fleece cap and spent the day bundled up on the Highline Trail, noting the huckleberries taking on their first tinge of crimson. I remember coming back to the tiny ranger station to find the woodburning stove crackling away, and I thought this must be what paradise was like.

Day 21: "Chains"

My first thought for this prompt was a chain of islands, but as I brushed up on Channel Islands, I realized it fits even better thanks to the chain of life that stretches from sea to land to air. Underwater terrain creates huge upwellings of nutrients that form the base of a food chain in the kelp forests, where vivid orange garibaldi and massive seabass swim among the waving fronds. Seals and sea lions spin and dive before hauling out onto beaches in noisy rookeries. Above them on the headlands, rare island foxes—only found on six of these islands and nowhere else in the world—scamper after mice and insects, occasionally coming to the shoreline for crabs. And in the skies, bald eagles, storm-petrels, and cormorants swoop down to pluck fish and other meals from the sea. And so life goes around and around on this scrappy cluster of islands.

Paldea is not the ONLY region with past or future representation

Anyone remember the version exclusives Unova had? And I’m not talking about the pokemon living there. I’m talking about some of the cities and areas. For example, Opelucid City, in white and white 2, it looks to be very historic, very old timey, very keeping to its historic roots. Whereas in black and black 2, it looks more futuristic. 

And there’s another area that also follows this trend too. The Black City aka the white forest. Just like with Opelucid, it looks like there’s no technology in white and white 2 and is just mostly forest, and in black and black 2, it’s a futuristic city. 

Now, what does this mean, you might be asking. What I’m saying is Unova predicted another thing for Paldea. Past and Future representation. 

And for those of you who believe that the DLC is going to be about Kalos, and Kalos only, I want you to open up your mind. Maybe it’ll include other regions, like Unova and Johto. Albeit, references to them because the devs would never make you revisit an old region unless it was for a remake. Because if something like that were to happen, it would be too much for consoles like the Switch to handle at that point, it would crash 20x over (worse than Scarlet and Violet or any of the older generations), and Nintendo would need to move onto a bigger platform that could host enough data to support it like on a computer. And the last time that happened was in Gen 2 and its remakes because they conviently had someone on board who knew how to compress the data so it would all fit. 

And these Unova and Johto references could be version exclusive, just like the paradox fusions that we saw. Johto for Scarlet and Unova for Violet and it even makes sense with how the regions look in their respective generations. Johto looks very historic and is keen on keeping its historic roots while Unova looks very modern but dominated by technology. Also, some believe that some of the paldea pokemon look like the scrapped pokemon from gen 2. 

And aside from the legendary fusions, look at all the other paradox pokemon as well from both the past and future and you’ll notice that from each a majority of them are either from Johto or Unova.

Of course between the two regions that are the majority, obviously Johto is higher. And notice that there is no representation for Kalos of any kind aside from how Roaring Moon and Iron Valiant look like Mega Salamence and a splicing of Mega Gardevoir and Gallade repectively, in terms of a pokemon from Kalos getting either a past or future form or both, like Volcarona and Donphan did. 

I didn’t count Iron Thorns even though its ancestor did get a mega evolution because Iron Thorns does not look anything like Mega Tyranitar, it looks like normal Tyranitar. Although I am open to the idea that its past form might resemble mega Tyranitar, much like how Roaring Moon looks like Mega Salamence as I just mentioned. 

The only Kalos, or should I say Gen 6 related, connection that these 14 all have in common I could gather is that either they or their pre-evos can be found in any of the Gen 6 games, whether its a specific location in X and Y, or a specific location in either of the gen 3 remakes. Plus mega stones have a symbol resembling something like a double helix inside, which is commonly associated with DNA, and this would mean that mega evolution, despite being basically body horror according to their dex entries, and how it requires a bond between trainer and pokemon, likely to make it more bearable for the pokemon, is just the pokemon harnessing the power within its genetics that it inherited from its ancestors. Perhaps we could see some pokemon come back and gain a paradox form that resembles their mega form to some extent. I mean the galar dlc brought back approximately 200 pokemon back, so it wouldn’t be that much of a shocker if Scarlet and Violet is going to do the same. I mean the devs did say that they did like what they did in the Galar dlc and are open to doing more in the future.

But I could be wrong about all this. I heard some rumors saying that they might add more paradox pokemon aside from the 2 fusions and that egg with the hexagons on it, which a lot of people think it’s eithe Zygarde or a paradox form of Zygarde (also Zygarde isn’t the only legendary pokemon with hexagons on it, Zekrom too also has some on its body, abeit they’re black and not green). And maybe I could be wrong on that too. I mean Zygarde’s name doesn’t seem to fit perfectly in the book, and maybe it could be Zekrom, or its a new legendary entirely. Plus, it never says that the hexagons are green. Plus half of this thing in the book is black and the other is white, but that could also be from how the book was printed. Plus, the rumors also include a 3rd book for the 3rd legendary. Some say that it’s blue or amber, but I personally would like to say that it could be green, because of Cyclizar and it’s connection to its relatives. Having the book be blue or amber makes little sense when it comes to cyclizar, considering the only part that’s blue that is attributed to it is its cheeks in its shiny form. Amber doesn’t either because it’s cheeks are orange in its normal form. But this could be attributed to only the 3rd legendary. But maybe it could be a past legendary, like Zygarde. It wouldn’t be the first time that that happened. I mean Zygarde is in Alola, Galar, Paldea and in Kalos for crying out loud.

But maybe I am wrong. 

Also, please bear in mind that I am in no way claiming that this is exactly whats going to happen in the DLC. I am just presenting my own opinions, takes, theories, and hypotheses. You’re entitled to yours, I am to mine. So let’s shake hands on it and agree to disagree.

Sega Mega CD - After Burner III

You’d think that after a game establishes itself as one of the company’s biggest arcade franchises, it would get more respect. It’s released and makes a bundle, so you port it as faithfully as the hardware allows, attempting to stay true to the original. That’s how it should be, right? Moreover, you’d expect said game to be given the golden treatment as the first CD installment on fledgling hardware. I mean, that would be common sense, no? Well apparently, not!

This game is apparently a conversion of the arcade title Strike Fighter, a sequel to G-LOC. I’ve heard complaints that G-LOC was slow, sometimes too slow. Those who find that to be a problem will go nuts here. Gone is the sense of speed that defined this series. Gone are the stomach-turning barrel rolls that made you move from side to side while you played (there are still barrel rolls, but they’re so slow as to be practically useless). In fact, everything that made After Burner fun is missing here. What you’re left with is a dry, uninspired shell that has almost as little flash as it does substance. I’m aware that this was one of the initial Mega CD releases, which were essentially nothing more than cartridge games with great music and cut scenes. Also, this was a launch title for the Mega CD in Europe. What an insult, due to the fact the 5-megabit cartridge After Burner II plays much better than this!

Sorry. There’s just so much wrong with it. Even worse is that it doesn’t even run as smoothly. Things aren’t as choppy as Super Thunder Blade, but After Burner III is still a sorry sight to behold. Add to this the bland, almost empty terrain and you have a game that lost its biggest asset in the arcade: the sense – albeit a limited one – of immersion gained from flying a high-speed jet.

To be fair, there is some luster among the dullness. The new play modes – timed and hits – add some variety, though your mileage may vary on just how much. Playing for most kills is a nice touch considering the lack of a two-player option, but I’ve never really considered After Burner to be anything but a single-player experience. One man, one mission; that’s the way it’s always been. Besides, I find it highly unlikely that you’ll be showing off your high scores to your friends. There are now night and day missions too, but again, the lackluster graphics don’t help at all, and the repetitive terrain all but kills any impact this addition may have had. The land missions are decent and shooting down AA guns and missile silos was a nice change of pace, although that pace was still too slow to really make a difference.

There is one area where I have no qualms at all, which is what most Mega CD games always get right: the soundtrack. All your favorite After Burner tunes are here, in full red book glory, and they sound wonderful. The music is from CRI's FM Towns version of After Burner II. Fitting, since After Burner III was also on the FM Towns.

All in all, I’d recommend avoiding After Burner III if you’re a fan, as you’re bound to be disappointed. Also, the Japanese version does not have six-button controller support, rather it supports Dempa/Micomsoft's ugly but comfortable XE-1 AP After Burner controller.
