its sooo devastating how the survivors of robert’s rebellion that we meet are all, at least in some ways, stuck at the age they were during the war. ned thinks of both lyanna and seeing the dead bodies of elia/aegon/rhaenys in the throne room constantly and it impacts so many of his decisions. cersei’s behavior— catty rivalries with teenage girls, whining at tyrion all through acok to make tywin come back to KL, etc— is more like that of a sixteen year old than a 32 year old. catelyn’s been pissed about ned bringing jon home for literally fourteen whole years at the start of the story. even lysa tully is still pining after petyr like a teenage girl in love despite barely seeing him for a decade and a half… tfw you will never get over the things that happened to you when you were seventeen

It sucks HBO cut the season short so close to filming and it sucks they had to keep going during the writer’s strike, so I don’t doubt we would have had a better season if that hadn’t happened. But I’ll be honest, that’s only the main issue if your problem with this season was a lack of action, awkward dialogue, or that the finale “didn’t feel like a finale”. If your problem was the jump in characterization from season one to two or the fact that Rhaenyra and Alicent need two contrived meetings, or the massive lack of depth the Greens are afforded- not sure much would have changed on that front. Even within the shortened season, we still have some things that make no sense, especially knowing they were working with such a condensed timeline. Remember when Aemond found out B&C came through his room, looked at the tunnels, and then did nothing about it? Remember when we had 5 min of Alicent and Rhaenyra in the sept, agreeing it’s too late to do anything, only for that to be undone 5 episodes later? Remember Alicent’s two bath scenes that both convey the same thing that also conveyed in nearly every Alicent scene (her big eyes are sad and she feels guilty!)?

Idk, I do understand they worked within contraints, but they then made some bizarre choices within those constraints. Especially knowing things like a final shot of Rhaenys’ body on the ground, or even a brief second of Cregan with the winter wolves was cut- but we have 45 seconds of Aemond getting on a horse to get to his dragon? Would we not have understood the urgency otherwise?

to be honest, aemond getting on a horse was one of the few entertaining moments bc at least there WAS a sense of urgency to it and a real stake, you know? imo the problem was the intrigue: why was it necessary for us to see ulf flying right over king's landing after having just claimed silverwing?

in a season where we have seen only seconds of sunfyre and nothing of dreamfyre?? all the dragon budget wasted on dumbass shit like extra scenes with caraxes and syrax, dragons we already know have a bond with their riders

meanwhile ulf is such a natural at dragon-riding that 5 minutes after claiming one he flies the entire fucking distance from dragonstone to KL, meanwhile helaena "doesn't have a taste for riding" and they wanted to make aegon incompetent at flying before tom put his foot down 🙄 what a joke

and yeah this was??? absolutely should have been cut!! they didn't even show him at the small council meeting! where was the editor?!

HOTD EP 1 Rewrite

Ep 5 is giving heavy season 8 of GoT vibes so I'm saving myself the pain and just rewriting all the mistakes they made so far so I dont go insane in the coming weeks. I will reblog this post with each episode rewrite as they come, but heres ep 1:

*Disclaimer* I am making sure most of the plot points are still included in the rewrite whether I like them or not.

As much as I love the north opening, we save that for a bit later. Instead, we get a rainy shot of King's Landing. Its dark out and there i thunder and rain etc. We see a pair of boots walking through the halls, rushed and hasty and the music matches as well. The person's breath is also huffy and puffed, and we get shots of the water on their coat, and then a shot of Aemond's eyes as he rushes to a room.

The door barges open and Aemond comes into a room where Aegon is being lectured by Alicent and Otto. They become quiet and Alicent gets up to see what's wrong. Aemond admits what he did and Alicent slaps him, crying out "Mother help us all". We get a quick shot of Aegon witnessing the slap (yk, for character parallel reasons), and Otto begins yelling at him "my grandson is a fool" style. The camera focuses on Aegon a while and we see him almost sympathizing with his brother, so he puts on this fake act and laughs, saying that they should hold a feast, celebrating their first victory.

Back at Dragonstone, we watch as Rhaenyra rides Syrax out to find Luke in the sea, and follow Daemon and Rhaenys as they leave the dragonpit to discuss with the team. Daemon has his dialogue with Rhaenys about Laena and they make their way to the council. Team Black is all there minus Jace, and they discuss how to set up the best defence in the time they need to raise an army and attack again, since Aemond's move is OFFENSIVE. They mention how Dragonstone is unsafe, they mention how another threat is Daeron in Oldtown with his dragon, and they mention what good the North can realistically provide and how they can strategize with their travels south. Daemon then suggests using Harrenhall as a fort, since it is the crux of the Riverlands and would give them the best land defence. When contested that Harrenhall is in ruin, Daemon will explain that they have the advantage with dragon numbers and the sea with the blockade, they have some leverage that can be spent on the necessities that Harrenhall requires.

We are taken back to Rhaenyra where the sun is beginning to set, and the fishermen find a wing. Rhaenyra flies in on Syrax, finds Arrax's wing and we get the fantastic performance by Emma D'arcy that brought us all to tears. The sounds of Rhaenyra's sobs are manipulated by the audio to transition into the laughter and fun that the Greens are having at KL during the feast. Alicent is PISSED and leaves early, meanwhile Helaena and Aemond sit next to one another in discomfort. Maybe some dialogue here but idk what, but these two need more interactions.

Aegon ofc is the only one having fun, he's drunk off his mind and laughing with his idiot kingsguard friends. During this, Aegon drunkenly makes a toast and jokes about Aemond being a kinslayer, Aemond does not like the title and it comes off as Aegon's weird form of bullying (since we have to transition this kinda buildup and not bring it out of nowhere between the 2 years of s1 and s2) At Dragonstone again, Rhaenyra is coming back and Daemon is facing the fireplace holding a scroll. When he looks at her, he slams the scroll into the table and tells her that he will bring Aemond to his knees. Rhae is confused but its comforting bc she's in shambles. Daemon storms out and Rhaenyra reads the note, which gives word about the feast.

(Insert something here about Daemon and Mysaria setting up B&C)

(Insert Aemond brothel scene #1 here, and he reveals he regrets killing Luke etc etc)

When Daemon meets B&C, he tells them a son for a son, find Aemond Targaryen. if not, slay Aegon's heir. The men share a weird glance but they agree. We get the montage ofthe pair going into the castle as ratcatchers, with Aegon drunk and Helaena and Alicent putting the kids to bed. BnC burst into the room, blood binds Alicent whilst Cheese grabs the twins (who are still awake). Since the kids are so young, they cannot tell which is the son, so they force Helaena to pick. Helaena, dazed, begins to cry and says to kill her instead. Cheese tells her they only want the boy, so she lies and points at Jahaera. Cheese laughs and says the line, "Do you hear that little girl? Your mommy wants you dead", revealing that they know she's lying. At that, they shove Jahaera at Helaena and go to kill Jahaerys. Helaena starts screaming and freaking out. Bc of how gruesome the scene is I wouldn’t have the the acc death shown, but rather how her screams echo in the halls. Aegons reaction to the sound, the guards rushing towards her room.

Aegon bursts through the doors and sees Helaena on the ground crying and screaming saying “they killed my boy”

A final shot of Aegon having it dawn on him that the war is in full swing and absorbing the first “consequence”.

Edit; I removed Alicole entirely, bc as much as I’ve tried to rationalize it I hate it. FnB has Alicent calling Cole out for being a creep when Rhaenyra is young, so if the show has Alicent experiencing years of this kind of experience, why would she choose to be with someone like him once she gets fo leave the relation with Viserys? Plus, Alicent experiencing this moves her character forward in fully dealing with the fact that her push for the throne doesn’t go without major pushback.

"kl, you can't just do damage control. this will follow you and the girls. how are they supposed to know that you're not cheating? how are they supposed to believe that you're not just a glorified sasaeng?" i scoffed at his remark. "with all due respect, i won't take that. i am not a sasaeng. i work too damn hard to be discredited. i am here because i love what i do, not to get into an idol's pants. jungwon and i dated years ago and are just friends. the entirety of enhypen are my brothers. trblmakers will understand, i know they will. please, just let me," i pleaded, voice cracking at the end. rei pulled me into her shoulder, rubbing my arm. "while personally i feel that you should go on a hiatus, i will allow you to do this," the girls and i jumped up, excitedly, smiles painting our faces. "but if it backfires, your contract with the group will be terminated and your contract with the company will be reevaluated." the entire room gasped. i sighed, slowly nodding. "then that's a risk i will just have to take."

What do you think of the idea that if Helaena was married to Jace she would have been treated as a hostage and would have been in danger from Daemon?

in relation to another jace and helaena ask. a lot of stuff here!

hostage refers to the keeping of a person during or after an hostile situation (like theon) that could meet dead or maiming if the other side doesn't comply. if helaena marries jace when rhaenyra proposes it in ep 6 i don't think she'll be a hostage nor i think rhaenyra would kill her if the greens rise up against her or usurp the throne like in canon. this would probably stay alicent and otto's hand for a few years and by this time helaena and jace might be already married with children, esp if the powers that be want the union of the two branches to bear fruits sooner rather than later. i don't think jace would've let anything happen to helaena, he seems to be a person who keeps his vows and (to me, TO ME) would actually respect helaena and her hobbies.

if the greens do install aegon on the throne, the most that i could see happening is confining helaena to dragonstone or sent to the vale/pentos in case the greens try to take her away and avoid any unnecessary harm to her if the invasion of the island is floated around. but that's also what they did to rhaena and baela. in canon, rhaenyra confines her to her rooms when she takes KL if i recall correctly and she's ready to offer her mercy too, but this is in an scenario where the war breaks out. i also think westeros' ableist society would dismiss helaena as simple AND a woman besides, neither a spy nor able enough to help the other side.

this of course doesn't mean that alicent wouldn't see helaena as a hostage in hostile hands. which also intersects beautifully with her own view of marriage and giving her daughter away when she wanted to keep her as close as possible to her even by marrying her to /aegon/.

"a danger to daemon" in what way? if you mean it in a sexual way i really really don't think so. i know that fandom (without care!!) says daemon is pedophile sadistic groomer or something but it's not that daemon likes young girls of silver hair, it's that he likes and loves rhaenyra who happens to be all of those things. his fixation is with her. i don't think he would pay attention to her at all, she's thrice protected by being jace's wife, rhaenyra's sister and viserys' daughter. unprovoked, it's not daemon's wont to kill members of his family. the most i can see is him being nasty to her in words more because he wants to bother jace rather because he cares about her reaction. i mean, he barely pays attention to his own daughters, he's not seeking helaena out. jace and helaena's marriage is also a boon for rhaenyra and i think that trumps anything else.

I have a couple things to say…sorry if this is long lmao.

1. I don’t think they cut out any Helaemond scenes and I think they were always intended to be a finale thing (mostly, apart from the throne room scene in 2x05). Think about it. Helaemond is massively popular (honestly it’s the only ship to rival Daemyra) and their throne room scene alone garnered so much attention. In m mind, it’s like, “of COURSE they’d gatekeep Helaemond for as long as possible”, because why wouldn’t they? They want the finale to be huge, and beginning the Helaemond dynamic in the finale would create so much hype not only for the episode, but for the potential that their arc could spill into season 3. Which brings me to my next point.

2. I don’t think there’s any way KL is falling in 2x08. It wouldn’t make sense, and the Blacks would essentially be fighting no one. I mean shit, the Fall of KL in the book wasn’t even a battle lmao. It’d be so sloppy and stupid. I honestly believe Red Fork is gonna be the main battle of the episode. Think about it. They’ve kinda been building it up a little bit with Jason meeting Lord Lefford in 2x06, then Aemond allegedly riding out to meet Jason & the Lannister armies in 2x07. With Burning Mill & Rosby/Duskendale, we saw the immediate results with NO buildup whatsoever. It’s clear to me that Red Fork is gonna be more significant. My theory is that Aemond battle plans around Helaena’s visions (that comes from a previous leak) and maybe she has a vision about the Red Fork battle, and bc of her vision, Aemond changes his strategy, which propels him to go and actually fight at Red Fork. It’s a battle the Greens win anyway, so it’d work, and (hopefully) seeing Aemond fight w Blackfyre would be sick. Plus, if they do any battle sequence of RF, there’s no way they’d have the budget or the time to conduct another HUGE battle sequence of the fall of KL within the same episode.

Look, anything is possible.

The idea of Aemond finding out about Helaena's dreams into the future has a season finale type of touch to it.

I think by 2x08 we'll have most of our questions answered. I just don't think they're going to do the Fall of King's Landing in the season finale. I think it's going to end with the Battles of the Red Fork and The Gullet.

But, I've been very wrong before, so who knows ...

One year since our last nonsense!!! We open on Shipbreaker Bay, where a ship is… breaking lol. Steffon Baratheon clings to the splintered remains of the Windproud, desperately scanning the chaotic scene for his wife Cassana. Sees her drowning some feet away, and makes his way towards her only for a HUGE WAVE to crash over them both. obliterated 😔

Robert (17) and Stannis (15) at a window; Robert makes to go down there himself, but is restrained by his father’s men - he howls in grief and rage. Stannis remains stood stiffly by the window, a vague tremor about him. Cressen places a hand on his shoulder. Baby Renly howling in the background…..

....turns to baby Viserys howling in Rhaella’s arms as Aerys tries to pry him out of them. Aerys looks like shit: his nails are longer, his hair somewhat unkempt (olaplex isn't 4 him), and he seems to have aged more than the year that’s passed. Clutching a squalling Viserys, Aerys takes his son to the dragon skulls lining his throne room, naming each as they go. Viserys eventually quiets. Finally, they come to stand in the mouth of Balerion, and both father and son stare in awe as the skull appears to swallow them

Opening 💃 creds 💃

The King’s council. Aerys receives news that things have…. not gone well with Steffon Baratheon :/ He immediately looks to Tywin, who does not look back, and rather moves on to the question of Baratheon succession. Aerys interrupting like HOLD UP who is supposed to marry my son now then!! Tywin looks at him like ‘you know what I think’ but he won’t deign to put that forward again. Aerys’ council mention that the Princess of Dorne is still touring the Seven Kingdoms seeking a husband for her daughter Elia - they've been travelling a conspicuously long time, as it goes. Might they invite the Martells to KL???

Fast forward a month or two: we’re in the Martells’ carriage, with the Princess of Dorne, Oberyn and Elia. POD fusses over Elia's tiara, but Elia is feeling sceptical: she’s heard the Prince is a bit weird. Oberyn like ‘can’t be as weird as those twins at the Rock’, tries to make his sister laugh, but her nerves are high

Rhaegar and Arthur together in the library at King’s Landing, as fucking ever. They’ve been up late, and now watch the rising sun. Rhaegar notes that the woman his father hopes to betrothe him to is due to arrive today; Arthur asks if this is what he wants, and Rhaegar states that what he wants doesn’t come into it - but the sun looks like his dreams this morning

The Martells are welcomed to King’s Landing in the courtyard. Oberyn pulls a face at Elia when they see the King (and the absolute state of him), but Elia is hesitant to return it. The Queen looks equally haunted. Between them, Rhaegar: he’s beautiful, but it feels like he’s not altogether present, and Elia is uneasy. Meanwhile, a cold look from Tywin Lannister to the Princess of Dorne. The POD smiles back

A feast in the Great Hall to welcome the Martells. Aerys sits at the head of the table, watching as each dish presented to him is tasted first. The POD attempts to make conversation with her old friend Rhaella, but Rhaella does not prove receptive. The POD senses something is terribly different about Rhaella, but the Queen seems too fragile to be pushed on it. Asking if she might meet the Prince Viserys, Rhaella tells the POD her son is not permitted visitors these days

Rhaegar has not said a word to Elia all of the feast, and she looks thoroughly dejected - till Rhaegar stands, and asks her to take a walk with him. Oberyn is unimpressed by Rhaegar and not entirely subtle about it, but the POD encourages Elia to follow the Prince. Rhaegar walks with Elia about the hall, asking after her journey to the capital. Then, cutting to the chase, he tells her that he believes he’s dreamed of her - Elia is stunned. Rhaegar asks if Elia has had dreams of her own, Elia replies only the simple kind - but finds she is intrigued

Rhaegar doing his thing with the harp after the feast: Elia finding herself slightly swept up. Oberyn tries to translate some of the Valyrian lyrics as Rhaegar sings, finds they don’t make sense, but the POD only hushes him

After the feast: the Princess of Dorne goes to Rhaella’s chambers, bringing wine and hopes of a discreet chat. However, she finds Rhaella surrounded by chamber maids who won’t be dismissed. Conversation proceeds awkwardly and self-consciously, till the POD gives up

Meanwhile, Aerys in his solar; it’s late, but someone has arrived to meet him. A knock at the door, and Aerys is presented with Varys, whose work they’ve heard so much about.....

The following morning, in the Great Hall: Aerys announces a betrothal between his son and Princess Elia. Elia shy, POD proud, Tywin raging as ever, young Cersei raging right beside him… and Rhaegar, looking distant, like he expected this but something still isn’t quite right

Skip forward to the wedding itself: both Rhaegar and Elia look resplendent, as do all of their guests. When the new couple dance together, everything seems to click - but then we see Aerys sat at the head table, somehow looking worse than ever, tapping his hands erratically on the wood. His mood is only lifted when entertainment arrives in the form of two pyromancers, who have promised the assembled guests ‘dragonfire’. This comes in the form of wildfire, wrought like a nuclear firework display. The guests applaud, Aerys most vigorously

Later the same night, Rhaegar lies awake beside a sleeping Elia, staring at the ceiling. After a moment he rises, and goes to a castle by the window. Faintly, he waves his hand over the flame, and winces slightly when it burns

Don't forget that Viserys forced Rhaenyra to marry Laenor, to have an alliance with the Velaryon, which he initially denied when he decided not to marry Laena because he preferred Alicent as his wife. (Viserys in the book married Alicent out of love and not out of duty as it is in the show.)

Yeah, I was kinda implying that in the "Viserys fucking her over" line. I really can't stand him in the show. Some people say he was worse in the books, but I honestly don't think that was the case at all, since we don't actually have a lot of details.

Just when it comes to the marriage/heir stuff, Viserys could have:

Not pressed his claim to begin with (and therefore Rhaenys and/or Laenor would have been Jaehaerys' heir as was expected under Andal succession)

betrothed Rhaenyra and Laenor when they were younger to combine their claims (and therefore not needed to push Aemma for a male heir up until the very end of her life)

not remarried/not had more children after declaring Rhaenyra heir (and therefore not put her claim at risk)

focused on Rhaenyra getting betrothed after Aemma's death and having her marry and have children before he'd remarry

married Laena after Aemma's death and told Rhaenyra from the start any boy they had would be heir so she didn't get settled into it/feel resentful (therefore combining his and Rhaenys' claim)

not allowed an unmarried girl/woman who wasn't Rhaenyra into his rooms alone at all to prevent court gossip

told Rhaenyra he was going to marry her bff specifically instead of being vague about remarrying

declared Aegon his heir as soon as he was born (as even Rhaenyra was expecting him to do)

called the lords back to KL at any time after Aegon was born to re-swear to Rhaenyra (including after Jace was born so that they were swearing to Rhaenyra's line in general)

been more realistic about the sorts of men/boys who would approach Rhaenyra during her tour and instead had someone screen out offers until she only had to meet the most likely ones

not forced Rhaenyra to marry someone who was known to be gay and therefore expected not to have children of his own

provided alternative inheritances for his other children, including marrying them off the way Daemon had been to Rhea, so they wouldn't be left at the mercy of their older sister when he died

Moving my head to the side of a pillow that I could feel underneath my head I moaned. Blinking my eyes open I saw someone staring at me that was a blurry figure until they spoke to me. "I was beginning to think that witch knocked the daylights out of you."

He lifted his gaze upward to meet my tired eyes. “Freya told me that you two went to find Rebekah. But she lost the way to bring Kol back. That’s nothing we need to worry about now though.”

“Then what do we worry about exactly?” I questioned hugging my legs to my chest.

He moved his right hand forward placing his palm over my hand twirling my wedding ring. “You seem to have misunderstood my feelings towards Aurora. I’m here to try and change that. Cause I can’t take anymore time where you won’t talk to me.”

“Nik, I don’t want to hear this right now. If you want to be with your old flame then go. I remember the feeling when I thought I was never going to see you again. The terror and relief all mixed together and built up inside you. Where you just have to let it all snap-“

He covered my mouth with his hand shutting me up resting his forehead against mine. “Sssh my beautiful love. Aurora may be an old flame but she is nothing compared to you. She never brought out the light in me like you do.”

“Klaus, stop-“ He held a finger over my mouth making me actually listen to what he was saying.

“No Raelyn you need to hear me out even if for a second. You have given me everything I never thought was open to having. You are there to bring out the light in me that I thought was gone. You are my heart and soul. You are the part of me that is human.”

Drawing my head back I covered my mouth with my hands giggling through happy tears. “Klaus, okay. I believe you.”

“No I don’t think you do, Rae. It wouldn’t be enough to tell you how much you have changed me. Not in a century, not in a thousand years or even an eternity with you will ever be enough.” He intertwined both my hands with his bringing my left hand to kiss the palm. “Aurora, isn’t the woman sitting in front of me. Aurora, isn’t the woman I proposed to with her grandmother's ring. And Aurora, most certainly isn’t the amazing mother who gave me my extraordinary children. That was all you Raelyn Primrose Lane. It will only ever be you by my side for eternity.”

I moved forward, crashing my lips onto his wrapping my arms around his neck instantly. He moaned into the kiss running one hand into my hair and the other falling onto my back. He gently pushed me onto my back on the mattress breaking the kiss with us both panting. “I love you, Niklaus Mikaelson.”

“And I you, Raelyn Mikaelson.” He nuzzled his nose against mine planting a kiss there smiling the biggest smile I had ever seen. “Just for the future if you ever doubt who holds my heart just ask. And I will be sure to show you just how worthy you are to me.”

Someone came up the stairs knocking on the door before we could go back to having a heated make out session. “Niklaus, our guests are arriving.”

“Guests, what are you up to now?” I questioned when we both sat up and I noticed a light blue dress hanging in the closet with some tan flats for me.

He offered me his hand tugging me up to stand when he kissed the crown of my head vamping out of the room. “My brother and I are going to attempt to get Rebekah back home. I’ll meet you downstairs, Rae.”

Lucien noticed someone new walking in with a thing of flowers, sitting them on the table. “Ah, flowers for me. You shouldn't have.”

The man looked in my direction when I slowly came down the long staircase. “That's for the lady of the house. The well-mannered bring a gift when invited to dinner. I assume you brought nothing.

Lucien clicked his tongue. “Nothing but my deepest respect for you….Raelyn, you are such a sight.”

Klaus entered the room holding out his hand for me when I reached the bottom of the stairs. “Lovely. We're all getting along. Tristian, I would like to introduce you to my queen, Raelyn.”

“Hi Tristian, I would say it’s a pleasure but you have my sister in law so…” I sniped tilting my head to the side with a smirk.

He nodded, lowering his hand once we had shaken hands. “We are all here to protect the person who sired us. We don’t have to be friends with everyone.”

Everyone of us sat down at the large table covered with food. Sitting down by Nik I moved my gaze to his vampire. “It's a bit odd, isn't it, celebrating an American holiday?”

Elijah tapped his fingers together. “Well, you know, Lucien, I rather enjoy Thanksgiving... the turkey, the cranberry sauce, the lies, the deceit, the betrayal. Perhaps we should begin this evening's proceedings with a little confession, and do help yourselves.”

Aurora who had came in the compound moments ago scolded. “So this entire dinner is meant to be some boorish inquisition. How rude.”

Klaus waved his hand at her. “Nonsense, luv. My brother merely wishes to make certain we're all on the same page, so who would like to begin?”

Tristan responded. “Well, Lucien and I have always loathed each other. Had we arrived as allies with news of a bleak future, you would have doubted us. We sought to remove suspicion by maintaining appearances.”

Lucien raised his hands up. “The bottom line is, we came to protect you and ourselves. We have never wavered on this point.”

Picking up a piece of turkey I shifted my gaze back to Nik’s vampire. “Well, if one wanted to obtain a certain item in, say, a private collection but one was not invited to the home where said private collection was located, police investigation could come in very handy to remove these items as evidence.”

Elijah put the pieces together himself. “I take it that you are referring to the medallion.”

Tristan looked at his red headed sister. “I suppose it was my sister who shared that bit of information.”

Klaus leaned back in his chair. “Don't blame Aurora. You two are hardly conspiratorial geniuses.”

Lucien chuckled looking from Nik then over to me. “Funny story... it turns out all along that the medallion was in the hands of Nik's friend Camille the bartender-slash-therapist. Had to get her arrested in order to search her goodies, so to speak, but I would never allow any harm to come to her, knowing the great affection you have for her….especially that she is Raelyn’s friend.”

Biting down on my turkey leg I moved my gaze feeling someone glaring at me. Locating that it was Aurora I felt nervous until Nik placed a hand on my knee drawing my gaze away. “A medallion that could lock us away hardly seems like a wise strategy for those come to protect us. Hand it over. And release Rebekah.”

Lucien glanced to her across the table. “Uh, just a tick. Aurora has Rebekah, hmm?”

Aurora smiled, leaning her elbows on the table. “No reason why I shouldn't be trusted with my sire's safety.”

Lucien added. “Of course, unless you were to have one of your episodes.”

Tristan shrugged his shoulders. “Easy, Lucien. My sister sought leverage to protect herself. Who among us would do otherwise?”

Elijah ran a hand over his chin in thought. “Niklaus, would you politely remind me why we shouldn't just compel them all to give us what we want?”

“You know that is a great question, Elijah.” Rising to my feet I slammed my palms on the table glaring at the other vampires. “I think that we can go far from compulsion don’t you. Considering these two have taken my sister in law hostage in who knows where. Oh and thus one nearly broke up our marriage making me think that I wasn’t the one for him.” Pointing my index finger at Aurora and holding my gaze on her brother.

Tristan moved his gaze around the table explaining what we all already knew. “Our continued existence depends on the Mikaelsons. We've known that since Finn and Kol died. Unfortunately, so does every other vampire in the world. Given that the sire lines have declared war against one another, you can imagine how many young upstarts have come to the same conclusion... kill an Original, wipe out an entire line of rivals. Heavy burden, isn't it, the lives of thousands of sired vampires resting on your shoulders? In a perfect world, you'd allow us to seal you away forever, thus eliminating the threat.”

Klaus put his hands together on the table. “Fortunately, the world is far from perfect.”

“And we have grown to enjoy such company of some. So how about we put every vampire who is concerned for their life inside a tomb of their own.” I smirked, taking back my seat beside Klaus who was smirking with his eyes going golden in a second.

Elijah sighs, picking up a glass of wine. “With all the nauseating dinner theater we've endured throughout the centuries, these performances are, by far, the worst. Aurora, my sister…”

My husband interrupted him. “Aurora is quite aware of our desire to see Rebekah home, and I'm sure she'll do everything in her power to oblige.”

Footsteps came into the room where we all saw Freya enter the dining hall. “We're welcoming our enemies to the dinner table now? Convenient, given she's the one who has the answers I want.”

Aurora rolls her eyes getting to her feet. “Oh, for heaven's sake, now I have to deal with the long-lost sister? Nik, please spare me your family's rage and paranoia. It is exactly this kind of lunacy which led me to steal Rebekah in the first place.”

Freya snarled. “What did you do with her?”

Aurora whipped her head around from us and back to Freya not regretting what she was telling our group. “Oh, I'm sorry, luv, but this prophecy has you all acting as fools, and I've no intention of risking my life to foolishness. Now, I can't trust Rebekah with any of you, and I certainly can't trust the silly dear to endure on her own, so I decided to put her someplace safe. Imagine a spot where no harm could come to her, where, in fact, no one could possibly even track her down. Yes. Rest assured, Rebekah is perfectly fine... at the bottom of the ocean.”

Klaus and I shared the same glare at the girl. “You're bluffing. Tell me you're bluffing.”

Aurora clasped her hand together. “Oh, you should all be thanking me. Rebekah's never been safer. She has plenty of company down there. There's all the little crabs and octopus and…”

Klaus got to his feet about to kill her until Tristian put a blade to Freya’s throat. “Harm my sister, and I'll be forced to return the favor.”

Elijah grabbed him and vamped him into the wall way from her. Lucien responded holding his glass. “Oh, this all escalated very quickly.”

Klaus pointed his index finger at his vampire threatening him. “Shut up, Lucien, or I'll tear your tongue from your head!”

Lucien pointed his finger at him still holding his glass in the same hand. “Be careful with your threats, Nik. Anything should happen to me, I won't be able to protect your precious Cami.”

“Ok. That is the second time I've heard her name. Just who is this Cami?” Aurora raised her voice

Jumping up to my feet I vamped forward holding Aurora by her throat showing her my fangs. “She’s my friend and my godmother of my daughters. So you do your best to remember that once I snap your neck bitch!”

Freya raised her hand using her magic to snap her neck for me. “You have bigger problems.”

Klaus threw his hands away from his side once I let her limp body drop from my nails. “Freya!”

Elijah drags Tristian back to the table putting him in a chair. “Niklaus... Which of these two vulgar parasites would you first like to torture?”

Klaus put his hands on Lucien’s shoulders glancing over to me, then whispering in his ear. “Well, it's half a dozen of one and 6 of the other, isn't it? Why don't you take the stable boy? Tristan and I are long overdue a good catch-up. Oh, if anything happens to Camille…”

Elijah tilts his head to the side finishing his brother’s sentence. “Oh, I'm quite certain Lucien's aware, devastating error.”

“Oh oh oh. I’ll call the bitchy redhead along with Freya.” I raised my hand like I was answering a question in kindergarten with a smirk on my face when I dropped my gaze down to the neck snapped vampire girl. “I think it’s time I try my hand at revenge with my humanity on wouldn’t you say, Nik?”

He moved away from his vampire tucking hair behind my ear that had fallen still smirking the same grin like me. “Indeed my queen. I suggest starting small. The fingernails or tounge.” I smirked knowing what happened next would be fun.

K-indie band The Rose brings Dawn to Dusk Tour to Kuala Lumpur in January 2024

KUALA LUMPUR, 3rd January 2024 — Acclaimed South Korean indie rock quartet The Rose  is finally coming to Malaysia for their first appearance here in years!

Organised by Lo-Fi Entertainment, The Rose Dawn to Dusk Tour in Kuala Lumpur 2024 will  be rocking Mega Star Arena, KL on 31st January at 8.30 p.m.

Kuala Lumpur is among the very few Southeast Asian stops for the tour, which takes the band  to arenas and venues in cities across North America, Europe and Asia as they belt out a range  of hits for their fandom known as ‘Black Roses’. 

Members of The Rose – composed of vocalist and guitarist Kim Woosung, keyboardist and  vocalist Park Dojoon, drummer Lee Hajoon and bassist Lee Jaehyeong – met through the  busking scene in Seoul. 

The band, which is under their own label Windfall in partnership with Transparent Arts, is  known for their emotion-filled English and Korean songs such as Back to Me, Red, She’s in the Rain and debut single Sorry that propelled them to fame. 

Apart from being a collective, every member has also made waves in the industry as  individuals – Woosung is featured with the late Ryuichi Sakamoto on a track by Agust D, also known as Suga of BTS, and was cast as a voice actor in an Ali Wong-led animated series,  while Dojoon, Hajoon and Jaehyeong have made appearances in K-dramas and web series. 

Having played Lollapalooza in Chicago, Sweden, Brazil, Chile and Argentina, as well as  Montreux Jazz Festival in Switzerland and BST Hyde Park in England, they have been named  Band of the Year at Brazil’s Prêmio Annual K4US in 2022. 

To date, The Rose has released two studio albums Heal and Dual, two EPs Void and Dawn,  one single album Red, along with numerous singles that made a mark on global top charts.

Doran, Elia, and Oberyn have a long meeting together in Dorans room, debating what to do. On one hand, it is their birthright in a way as targs, on the other hand, what would Robert do if he found out or how would any lords of the other Realms react if they found out. After debating back and forth on the risks, Elia convices her brothers that it may be a good thing in the end. There is strife enough between them and the other Kingdoms already, the Westerlands, Stormlands and Crownlands especially. It would ease her mind to know that her children and Jon and the other targ bloods still alive around her had some added protection if it ever came down to it. She doesn't want a repeat of the sacking of KL, or the Rebellion.

"girl! wear a crewneck and leggings and call it a day. don't overthink it." "how can i not?" i threw myself down on my bed next to rei. she sighed, petting the back of my head. "look i know y'all are in this weird 'we're dating but not actually but it feels like we are' space but renjun is absolutely in love with you. he would look at you like you were god even in just a trash bag. don't freak yourself you." i whine into the pillow my head landed on. "i just... i know he's gonna ask me out again and i know i am going to say yes so i just like want it to be perfect you know?" i roll over onto my back, looking up at rei. "he isn't jungwon. he doesn't just text me asking to date. he doesn't tell me he's too busy for me. he's caring in a way that jungwon couldn't be and i just want it to work out between us." i slap my hands over my face, dragging them down with a dramatic groan. rei laughed at me. "it will work out how it needs to. now we need to get you ready, it's almost 5 and we don't have all day!"

"hey" i smiled as renjun immediately engulfed me in his arms. "i missed you," he said, kissing the top of my head. i laughed, looking up at him. "its been a week, jun." "a week too long." he flashed a cheeky smile and pulled me into the dorm. "get comfy on the couch and put on the movie. i'll bring over our dinner." "okay," i smiled quickly pulling a blanket over myself and looking up the movie. a few minutes later, renjun sets down two pizzas and drinks on the coffee table in front of us. "oh my god stop did you make these?" “yeah i hope they’re good. i don’t cook much but i waned to for you.” my heart melted. “that’s the sweetest thing anyone has ever done for me. i appreciate it, really, jun. all of this is just so precious.” he smiled at me, fidgeting with his hands. “im glad. i just really like you kl and i want to do everything to show you how serious i am.” i grabbed his hands. “i like you too renjun. i don’t know what i did to deserve this or you but i’m so grateful.” i watched as his eyes twinkled with excitement at my words. “can i kiss you?” i felt my heartbeat quicken. i nodded while leaning in, meeting his lips. a soft and gentle kiss. he pulled away, grabbing the remote to pause the movie. "we're taking this to my room," renjun said grabbing my hand. "what about the pizzas?" "we'll come back after!" i laughed at his hurried state as i followed behind.

Asakusa, Tokyo

and my trip to Tokyo comes to an end with a full day of wandering around waiting for my midnight flight back to KL. like all of my last days during any overseas trip, i was exhausted and running on fumes, doing my utmost best to get through the day without collapsing. photography usually isn’t much of a priority on my last days, but i had so much time to kill after checking out of my hotel that i decided to spend a few hours walking around at none other than the biggest tourist attraction of Tokyo - Asakusa. throughout my week-long stay, i’ve noticed that there has yet to be a full-blown invasion of foreign tourists in Tokyo. however, for some reason Asakusa was packed to the brim with all manners of local and foreign tourists, it certainly felt more packed that it used to be before the pandemic. getting around the place was without a question a chore, but i still walked along the edges, photographing the place (and mostly the people) in its post-pandemic glory. you could tell that the tourists were glad to be here in Tokyo - i most certainly was. after Asakusa, i spent the rest of the day hanging around in Ikebukuro, meeting up with an old high school friend for dinner, and making my way to Haneda Airport only to find out that my midnight flight was delayed a couple hours.

in the end, the entire trip felt a little bit of a mixed bag for me. for one, the ravages of age is slowly creeping up on me, and i can’t seem to travel like i used to before the pandemic. years of being a sedentary shut-in definitely didn’t do well for my body, furthermore, expectations for this “return to travel normalcy” was at an all-time high that you cannot help but feel some levels of disappointment at the end of everything. i did all that i came to do in Tokyo - i took a whole lot of photos, bought all the stuff i wanted, visited the places i had intended to visit, met up with my old buddy, ate most of the food i wanted to eat. admittedly, the little stomach upset i had the day prior soured most of the trip for me, and i couldn’t do much about it but hole myself up in my hotel room for half the day. i guess when it comes to future travels, i have to allow myself some room for unexpected incidences - what more with my body experiencing a certain amount of degradation, it comes with the package. furthermore, this trip was mostly planned on the fly - thinking that i would attempt to adapt my plans on the fly like i used to, but lately my indecisiveness has gotten the best of me, leading to increased levels of anxiety and me ultimately wasting a lot of time and energy trying to pull myself together. but it’s something i’ll have to take note of in my future travels - to be more better prepared, to travel with a more open mind, to set priorities and adhere to them, and perhaps to give myself more room for error and to be able to adjust accordingly. when the next trip comes around, i’ll hopefully be more mindful and prepared. but it goes without saying that i enjoyed a good portion of my one week stay in Tokyo, and look forward to travel to Japan (or anywhere else) in the near future.

Speaking of the baby, do we know how far along in her pregnancy Cersei was when she died?

Travel time and distances seem shorter in the show than books, so judging by show timeline:

She must be at least 4-6 weeks when she first suspect and then maybe 6-10 weeks to confirm considered they can’t just pee on a stick to check, lol. Then there’s the wight hunt from Dragonstone to Beyond the Wall, which is probably around a week if on boat and on dragonback it seems only a few hours or a day at most. So maybe 1 week total there. Then travel to KL in boat and taking the armies to KL from Dragonstone. Maybe little more than 1 week, unless they came from elsewhere. So that would make her between 8-12 weeks at the Dragonpit. Then Jon/Dany and their armies travel to WF on boat/horse. If armies are on boat too, then maybe 1 week. In S1 Cersei says it took 1 month/4 weeks from KL to WF in a slow carriage with breaks for her/the children and the King’s whole entourage traveling with them. So if all the armies did NOT travel on boat, then maybe 2-3 weeks. Jaime travels on horse not that long after, and since 1000 miles on horse takes at least 9-11 days with breaks, then it probably took him well over 2 weeks (and his beard grew). So that’s maybe 3-4 weeks in total until all the characters are at Winterfell. Then they prepare for the fight, maybe 1 week? The Wall isn’t far from Winterfell and doubt the Dead wait. Then after the battle at Winterfell, they maybe stay 1-2 weeks cleaning up the bodies and recovering. Definitely no more than 4 weeks. Then Dany, Tyrion etc. travels to KL on boat, which takes maybe a few days in clear weather or a week. That’s when Cersei lies to Euron about the baby being his, so at least 4+ weeks must have passed since she slept with him in S8E1. So in S8E4 she can be between 14-21 weeks according to the timeline. On the boat to KL (before they meet up with Cersei), Tyrion says Jon and the army has left Winterfell too, and they will arrive on Dragonstone in a fortnight (2 weeks). So if they arrive 2 weeks after this, then stay at Dragonstone to wait for the rest of the armies (who capture Jaime), that would be maybe 3 weeks. And a few days to 1 week until the attack. Making it possible for her to be anywhere between 16-25 weeks when she died. I think she was around 18 weeks. What do you think? And yes I’m bored, lol.

I asked myself this question so many times because the timeline remained unclear and we never had a proper answer. I've always thought Cersei was around 4-5 months pregnant when she died, so I think your estimations are pretty accurate.

We know for sure the baby was conceived in 7x03, and by the end of that episode, Jaime travels to the Reach, which if I remember correctly, takes around 2 weeks to reach [no pun intended!] from King's Landing. With an army let's say 3 weeks, so by the end of the episode, Cersei is already 5 weeks pregnant since we begin to count a pregnancy from the last period and let's say Cersei has regular periods. Let's also say Jaime stays a week to secure the gold and all before Dany attacks, so 6 weeks. Dany attacks, and Jaime comes back to KL so Cersei is at least 8 weeks pregnant at the beginning of 7x05. I'm too lazy to check but I think Jaime crosses Qyburn's path when he comes back and when Jaime enters the room, Cersei is thoughtful so she probably talked about her suspicions to Qyburn at that moment. Then we have the announce, like you said she can't pee on some pregnancy test 😭 so Qyburn had to run some test, probably took 1-2 weeks so she is for sure 9-10 weeks pregnant by then. The time lapse between 7x06 and 7x07 is THE wild card. I've always pictured something like a 2 weeks to a full month so your estimations for the Dragonpit meeting are def accurate, around 11-14 weeks. Then Jaime leaves for Winterfell. 3-4 weeks for anyone to be here seems pretty accurate as well so by 8x01, Cersei is around 15 weeks which makes sense since she starts wearing maternity gown. Flashfoward to 8x04, she tells Euron she is pregnant (and it start sightly to show) so yeah, 4 weeks must have passed which make it 19 weeks pregnant. Then we have 8x05, Jaime comes back and he probably rode nights and days so let's say 2 weeks which makes 21 weeks pregnant. If we take the tl loosely that makes Cersei around 21-23 weeks pregnant so yeah, she was 4-5 months pregnant when she died.
