Booted-up broken ankle - June 2018
flickr
6 years ago today at one of the WeHo Starbucks's! The weekend before this, I remember I went out for dinner with a couple friends and my foot just started screaming in pain. I got into the doc the next day and was told "not only did you sprain it, you fractured it!" They booted it up instead of casting it up as the break was not too bad. Casts are always better but this boot was super comfy.

Gadzooks, this now seems like an eternity ago. I guess it was - early 2020. I just found this photo on an old computer. I'm trying to remember why I was wearing a mask and gloves outdoors. Possibly being a good citizen, as I try to be, and clean up trash on the sidewalk. I will say though, I have not caught Covid. In almost 5 years, I had a strep infection and that has been IT. I'm lucky.

For those of you who like the boots! I will say, these short ones aren't usually good for anything other than broken toes, and even then. Tall boots are always better and give the foot more support. If you have a sprained ankle, don't wear a short boot, it won't heal.

Fractured and sprained right ankle - June 2018
flickr
From June 2018 when I broke my right ankle and sprained it really bad at the same time. The break in the bone was not bad but I had a LOT of pain with this injury and I had an MRI too. The doc who put me in this was a new doctor at that time and I later found out that I really should've had a cast but he was one of those doctors who liked booting people up instead of casting them. *I still have this boot and it's in pretty good condition. When I broke my foot last year I wore it for a week before getting a cast, after finding out that it was in fact broken.

WOW! Don't you love that well-worn red boot?! Here is (what I am guessing) is the story behind it... This guy and the guy on the ground are members of a frat-type house where they constantly prank each other. They keep a boot or two around because the pranks sometimes result in foot injuries. There's actually a video out there of this guy stepping on the bare foot of one of the other housemates with the boot, causing him to scream in pain. This is in Australia. Black and gray boots are about all we have to choose from in most countries.
