Here's The Deal Podcast - The Max Baker Jr. Story - Episode 102 - "The Lost Episode" (2006)
Our fact checker Jeff Brownen discovered a "Lost Episode" (as you're reading this, say it with 1950's fading echo, lost episode... lost episode... lost episode....)... This episode begins on March 17th, 2006 at the Cains Ballroom with Opeth & DevilDriver.... Followed by the Shirts For A Cure Tour w/ Thursday & Minus The Bear & The Number 12 Looks Like You at the Cains Ballroom! Nine Inch Nails at the Ford Center with Saul, Max reminisces about seeing NIN live at Kinetics in Bricktown on the Pretty Hate Machine Tour. Max once again did a two stage local metal show at the Cains that had Horse Called War on the bill. We also discuss the very first Bullet For My Valentine show in Oklahoma at Curly's with Forte, which was legendary... A brand-new metal band, with young kids, with all the hype behind them on the same bill with Metal / Thrash legends Forte.... If you were asked to guess who would have the best grass, Willie, Merle, or Ray Price? Most would have no idea that it would be Ray Price.... If you know, you know!

Oklahoma court rules that moms who use medical marijuana while pregnant aren’t breaking the law
Women with state medical cards who use marijuana during pregnancy can’t be prosecuted for child neglect, the Oklahoma Court of Criminal Appeals ruled Thursday. How Much Does Medical Marijuana Cost in Oklahoma Since the passage
How Much Does Medical Marijuana Cost in Oklahoma Since the passage of
SQ 788, Oklahoma has developed one of the most comprehensive medical marijuana programs in the country. Oklahoma's medical marijuana industry experienced a resurgence in 2020, outpacing competing markets such as Illinois, Maryland and Ohio. When local business owners learned that there were more than 200,000 registered cannabis patients, they scrambled to get approvals and open businesses to meet the growing demand.
Oklahoma's cannabis industry is as close to a free market system as possible, which may be a factor in its rapid growth. SQ 788 is not only very patient friendly, but also provides an ideal environment to do business.
Participants in Oklahoma's medical marijuana program are not required to have a specific medical condition, unlike many other states' medical marijuana programs. This is very important! In Oklahoma, doctors are not required to follow a list of recognized conditions compiled by politicians, but are free to express their professional medical judgment.
So it's clear, thanks to the industry boom and tax revenue, that medical cannabis is here to stay. Why not apply for a medical marijuana possession card today and join the thousands of people who have already done so? Read on to find out how.
Medical Cannabis License in Oklahoma: How much does it cost?
Qualifying for medical marijuana in Oklahoma is much easier than most people think. Thanks to the legislators who drafted SQ 788, Oklahoma was able to implement a simple and easy-to-understand mechanism to provide patients with access to cannabis.
First, you should see your doctor and get a medical marijuana evaluation.
After your evaluation, you must file a medical marijuana registration with the Oklahoma State Legislature to receive your card in the mail. Most doctors will be on-site to explain the process and answer any questions you may have about your state application.
Oklahoma Medical Marijuana Lowest Price Map
In Oklahoma, patients are not required to undergo marijuana testing at a medical facility. Therefore, if you are interested in a marijuana evaluation, you do not need to visit a clinic to receive it. Thanks to recent developments in telemedicine, you don't even have to get up from the couch.
An initial in-person medical marijuana evaluation often costs $150. However, there may be additional associated costs, such as:
Time off from work
Commuting time
Contact with sick people
General inconvenience

After you pass the medical exam and receive your doctor's note, you must complete and submit a state license application.
It costs $100 to apply for medical marijuana in the state. However, if you have Soonercare Medicare or are a disabled veteran, you can pay a discounted rate of $20. When you are ready to apply, submit the required documents.

How to Get Your Virginia Medical Marijuana Card Easily

The only safe and legal way to purchase marijuana in the state of Virginia is through state-authorized dispensaries, which sell for medical purposes only.
The Virginia Board of Pharmacy licenses Virginia pharmacies and pharmacists to operate the facilities, which sell cannabis products that are tested, packaged, and labeled according to requisite medical standards.
Possession of a Virginia medical marijuana card also may entitle you to purchases in other states, including Arkansas, Hawaii, Maine, Nevada, New Hampshire, New Mexico, Oklahoma, Rhode Island, Utah, and Washington, D.C.

Which Are The Best Strains For Autism?
Tumblr media
The best strains for autism include Afghani, Blue Dream, Green Crack, Chocolope, and Charlotte’s Web, among others. Many factors make a marijuana strain ideal for treating autism. But even before getting to the strain, many important factors come to mind when considering marijuana treatment for autism. This article highlights most of the issues surrounding medical marijuana treatment for autism and concludes with a discussion on the best strains to turn to when the autism seems to get the better of your child.
What is Autism Spectrum Disorder?
Autism is a spectrum of disorders that are linked to impairment in neural development. Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) encompasses a range of disorders characterized by issues with communication and social interaction. Because this is a spectrum, the symptoms will vary depending on where the child is placed on the spectrum. For example, children with Asperger’s syndrome (an autistic spectrum disorder) have significant difficulties in social interaction. In extreme cases, the affected child cannot carry out most self-care activities on their own. In mild cases, one can hardly tell that the child is autistic unless trained to identify the subtle signs of autism. Symptoms of autism include having repetitive behavior, being non-verbal or having poor communication skills, and having impaired social skills, among others. These symptoms usually become apparent before three years of age. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), autism tends to be present in boys more than in girls, with a 4 to 1 ratio. According to the latest data, the CDC estimated that 1 in 59 children were identified with ASD in 2014. In most cases, autism is not a life sentence. With adequate care, a child should be able to lead a near-normal life. While there are no cures for ASD, certain therapies have been helpful in improving symptoms. Treatment options include behavioral, occupational, speech, physical, and play therapy. In terms of alternative treatment options, it is speculated that marijuana could help children cope with the negative effects of autism, but further research is needed to verify this preliminary evidence.
Is it Ethical to Treat Children with Medical Cannabis?
There has been controversy on the use of marijuana treatment on children. In 2015, the Canadian Pediatric Society issued a statement saying that there was insufficient data on the efficacy or safety of cannabis use in children. But since the FDA approved Epidiolex, a cannabis-based drug, to treatintractable childhood seizures, the medical fraternity has become less skeptical about medical cannabis use in children. The issue of ethics is not a straightforward one. Marijuana strains with high CBD and low THC are considered safe and therefore ethical for use in children. However, high THC strains are treated with skepticism; the long-term effects of THC on the developing brain are controversial. Thus, high-CBD/low-THC strains are preferred when dealing with autism in children, unless the case is palliative. The following states have included autism on their list of qualifying conditions for medical marijuana.
Is Medical Marijuana Approved For Autism
Medical marijuana is approved for autism in the following states: - Delaware - Georgia - Illinois - Iowa - Louisiana - Michigan - Minnesota - Missouri - New Mexico - Pennsylvania - The Territory of Puerto Rico - Rhode Island - Texas - Utah - Florida - Oklahoma - Oregon - Massachusetts - Washington DC - Colorado - California Each state sets its own rules for the use of medical marijuana within its jurisdiction. Pennsylvania was the first state to approve marijuana for the treatment of childhood autism. To get approved for medical cannabis for autism, you’ll need a written recommendation from a qualified medical marijuana doctor allowing you to obtain a medical marijuana card.
Cannabis for Autism: What Research Says
Research into cannabis and autism spectrum disorders is still new. In 2018, a Stanford University study found that anandamide levels (the bliss molecule) was lower in children with ASD. Some research suggests that THC produces more intense and similar effects to anandamide. In theory, THC could be a promising option for autism patients. A study published in 2019 in the Journal of Nature found that cannabis can relieve symptoms of autism such as seizures, restlessness, cognitive impairment, speech impairment, and fits of rage. The study was titled “Real life experience of medical cannabis treatment in autism; analysis of safety and efficacy.” In this study, 188 patients with autism spectrum disorder were followed up over six months. Most patients were treated with a cannabis oil containing 30% CBD and 1.5% THC. After six months of treatment, 82.4% of patients were in active treatment and 60.0% have been assessed. Here are the results of the study: - 1% of patients reported improvement in symptoms - 7% reported moderate improvement - 4% of patients reported slight improvement - 6% reported no change in condition - About 25% of patients experienced at least 1 side effect from the treatment (the most common was restlessness) Overall, cannabis was found to be a “well tolerated, safe, and effective option to relieve symptoms associated with ASD.” A 2018 study performed at the Shaare Zedek Medical Center tested the effect of a whole-plant cannabis extract (20:1 CBD:THC) on 60 autistic children who displayed severe behavioral issues. Here are the results: - Behavioral outbreaks were much improved or very much improved in 61% of patients - Anxiety and communication issues were much or very much improved in 39% and 47%, respectively - Disruptive behaviors were improved by 29% - Parents reported lower stress levels, by 33% - Adverse effects included sleep disturbances (14%), irritability (9%), and loss of appetite (9%) In a study published in 2018 titled “Oral Cannabidiol Use in Children With Autism Spectrum Disorder to Treat Related Symptoms and Co-morbidities,” 53 children with autism were given a dose of 20:1 ratio of CBD to THC for a period of 66 days. - Self-injury and rage attacks improved in 67.6% and worsened 8.8% - Hyperactivity symptoms improved in 68.4%, did not change in 28.9% and worsened in 2.% - Sleep problems improved in 71.4% and worsened in 4.7% - Anxiety improved in 47.1% and worsened in 23.5% - Adverse effects were primarily mild drowsiness and loss of appetite Keep in mind, studies into autism and cannabis have been focused on observational results without a control group. Results were based on reports by parents, which may have been affected by expectations. Trials into autism and cannabis are underway by the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia, the University of San Diego, and New York University’s Langone Health research facility.
Best Ways to Consume Cannabis for Autism
There is a lot of anecdotal evidence to suggest that treating autism with medical cannabis is effective. However, not every method of administration is good for children. For instance, inhalation such as smoking cannabis is not suggested due to the carcinogens present in the smoke. Instead, medical cannabis can be administered in the following ways: - Edibles: Cannabis infused foods and drinks can provide long-lasting effects. While the onset of effects can take between one or two hours, the effects can last for about six to eight hours, a considerable increase compared to other methods of consumption. - Tinctures: Tinctures such as THC and/or CBD oils can be used to infuse foods with cannabis or applied sublingually (under the tongue). Sublingual absorption provides a quicker onset of effects (10 to 15 minutes) since the compounds absorb through mucous membranes under the tongue. - Vaping: Vaping is a less irritating method of consumption compared to smoking cannabis. Vape products produce a cannabis vapor instead of smoke, which can provide a fast onset of effects within minutes. Choosing the best way to administer cannabis can take some time. It is recommended to start with the lowest dose possible (2.5 to 5 mg) of cannabis and gradually build up to the desired effects.
Best Strains for Autism
Several cannabis strains work for autism and its comorbidities. However, a few options stand out as the best marijuana strains that can provide maximum relief for the symptoms of autism. High-CBD strains are recommended to help manage behavioral issues and provide relief for seizures. CBD-rich strains have shown to be beneficial in improving communication and reducing hyperactivity, hypersensitivity, and self-harm behavior. The best cannabis strains to try include the following: 1. Blue Dream This is a sativa dominant hybrid strain that hails from California. It has been labeled as the “aspirin form of cannabis” for its highly therapeutic benefits that make it ideal for everyday use- the marijuana strain to always have in your medicine cabinet. Blue Dream strain is helpful in suppressing pain and the discomfort that comes with autism. 2. Green Crack Green Crack is a sativa dominant hybrid strain with Skunk #1 genetics. It is the ultimate wake-and-bake strain and has been used to combat autism stress and aggression. It also helps to increase focus and has been used to increase concentration in people with autism. 3. LA Confidential This is a strong indica strain that produces total body relaxation when consumed. It has been used to trigger relaxation and reduce social anxiety in patients on the autism spectrum disorder. With a THC of up to 25%, this strain should be consumed in moderation. 4. Afghani Afghani is an indica strain with strong sedative properties. It causes blissful relaxation and can help to relieve autistic aggression, anxiety, and depression. 5. Charlotte’s Web Charlotte’s Web is one of the most popular marijuana strains rich in CBD and low in THC. It has been the go-to strain for treating childhood seizures, and now it is drawing attention as a potential go-to strain for autism. With less than 0.3% THC, it is ideal for children as well as adults with autism. It has potent anxiety-relieving properties and strong calming properties. It can be used to alleviate autism-related aggression. 6. Sour Diesel Sour Diesel is a high-THC, sativa-dominant strain known for its cerebral and energizing effects. Medical cannabis patients have used this strain to help relieve symptoms related to anxiety, stress, depression, and pain. Since people with autism may have issues socializing, Sour Diesel may provide blissful and invigorating effects to improve socialization.
Is Medical Marijuana Safe for Children?
According to CDC reports, 1 in every 59 children in the US is on the autism spectrum disorder. Anecdotal evidence supports the use of cannabis in treating autism symptoms. Mothers Advocating Medical Marijuana for Autism (MAMMA) is an autism-focused advocacy group that advocates for greater accessibility to medical marijuana treatment for people with autism. A couple of patient testimonials can be found on the MAMMA website on the safety and efficacy of marijuana in treating childhood autism. For now, evidence from research is still preliminary. Further research is needed to confirm the safety of medicinal marijuana treatment in children with autism.
Can CBD Oil Help with Aggression Caused by Autism?
Anecdotal evidence has shown that CBD can be used to relieve symptoms of autism, including aggression. CBD has calming and anti-anxiety properties.  A few studies investigating the link between marijuana and autism have shown that CBD can indeed reduce aggression related to autism. This brings us to the end of the best strains for autism; let us know if you have tried any and if they have worked for you.

Which Oklahoma laws apply to medical marijuana?
Oklahoma's medical marijuana legislation have changed significantly in recent years. State Question 788, which allowed the use of medicinal marijuana for eligible patients with a doctor's recommendation, was adopted by Oklahoma voters in 2018. Since that time, the state has created a comprehensive medical marijuana programme with distinct rules and certification criteria.
Oklahoma residents can get a medical marijuana license with the aid of GreenPot MD, a medical marijuana certifying facility. They facilitate the evaluation procedure for patients by qualified doctors, and if accepted, they help patients submit the required documentation to the Oklahoma Medical Marijuana Authority (OMMA) for a medical marijuana card.
Patients must have a qualifying medical condition, such as cancer, glaucoma, HIV/AIDS, epilepsy, or chronic pain, in order to qualify for a medical marijuana card in Oklahoma. The medical professionals at GreenPot MD are familiar with state laws and can advise patients on the most suitable course of action and dosages for their particular medical condition.
In conclusion, patients in Oklahoma now have access to cannabis-based treatment for a range of medical problems thanks to the state's medical marijuana regulations. With the help of GreenPot MD's services, patients can more easily manage the application procedure for a medical marijuana license and benefit from medical cannabis in a safe and legal manner.

The Politics of Marijuana...
Dateline 3-8-23
The weather has returned to some sort of normalcy with cooler conditions here in Middle Tennessee which makes us folks at Tennessee homegrown glad that we showed restraint and planted only cold weather resistant veggies. The Arugula, Beets, Carrots and Kale should be able to endure the light freeze that is forecast in the next couple days. Meanwhile, The Old Hemp Farmer is enjoying a customary cup of organic Indonesian and nibbling on some Siriana Costa Rican Cacao fortified with Tennessee homegrown Cannabis extract. The other thing yours truly is chewing on this morning, are the results of the special election for Recreational Marijuana in Oklahoma. If you were a Cannabis professional hoping that a win in Oklahoma would spur on momentum for the industry, it was a “Heat Check”. Not only did the Okla-by
God-homa Recreational Cannabis provision get beat, it got beat like a rented mule, it wasn’t even close. When the smoke cleared, over 60% of the votes were against Recreational Marijuana. So why did a state (Oklahoma) with maybe the most lenient Medical Marijuana laws in the U.S. drop the hammer on Recreational Marijuana? Why indeed?
Let’s drill down in Oklahoma (no pun intended) a bit shall we? In a state of slightly under 4 million people there are about 370,000 people that have Medical Marijuana cards. Which means that 15% of the Adult population of Oklahoma already has access to Cannabis at very competitive prices. And when I mean access, The Old Hemp Farmer means access. There are no Red Ropes or reservations required when it comes to weed in Oklahoma. As of February 8th, 2023 there are 2,877 dispensaries in the panhandle state that are being supplied by a staggering 7,078 licensed growers. This Cabal of Medical Marijuana growers and retailers netted this very Red State more than $120,000,000 in tax revenue. The curious fact about this special Recreational Cannabis election was that the turn out was low, I mean very low. Less than a third of the registered voters showed up at the polls, which means if the people that consume Cannabis and the Cannabis Industry would have showed up at the polls, this morning, there would be Recreational Marijuana in Oklahoma. So what happened? Maybe just maybe there were enough pro Cannabis people that were happy with things the way they were. It appears that there will be a moratorium on new grower licenses plus more and more stores are folding just enough to make a Medical Marijuana dispensary a little profitable. So there were sufficient amount of folks in the system that were happy enough with the way things are, that they didn’t show up at the voting booth. So for the near future in Oklahoma it will be the same as it ever was.
Meanwhile in Tennessee, where we have one of the most lenient Hemp derived Cannabinoid markets in the U.S. there continues to be very little momentum to change anything. Although the state of Tennessee nowhere derives nearly as much tax revenue as Medical Cannabis in Oklahoma, its a revenue stream that continues to grow without changes in state law. The Old Hemp Farmer mentions the correlation between Oklahoma Medical and Tennessee Hemp Derived Cannabinoids because both are dark Red States that can tell their constituents that they are embracing the sinner just not the sin. Anyway as always, Hemp Dawgs and Hemp Puppies keep one eye on the weather and the other eye on the market.
