Good Friday Rocks: The Top 10 Epic Rock Songs Featuring Jesus Christ
By Mike McPadden // April 3, 2015 // vh1.com
#10: “Jesus”, by Queen.
Sonic Scripture: “Then came a man before His feet he fell/Unclean said the leper and rang his bell/Felt the palm of a hand touch his head/Go now go now you're a new man instead/All going down to see the Lord Jesus”
Rock of Ages: “Jesus” is very Queen-sounding anthem about a somewhat surprising topic for the band. Frontman Freddy Mercury, who was raised Zoroastrian and famously didn’t adhere to any religion limiting notions when it came to life’s pleasures, sings a driving, full-throated salute to the Prince of Peace.
The Jesus of Queen’s “Jesus” heals the sick, comforts the poor, and was born in in Bethlehem to be a leader of men. Courtesy of the band, he also severely rocks.

Still Single / Heathen Disco 2020 End of Year Recap
I guess I’m back! I started gingerly dipping back over into Tumblr to publish some reviews as a means of cutting through all the bondage photos and anime screencaps and people still living on Tumblrs (shout out to anyone still Tumblin', it's alright). I also redoubled my efforts to do great radio shows, and that seems to bother some of you enough to unsubscribe, but I'm feeling great about all that. If you wanna hear those shows, you can go to Mixcloud and listen to your hearts' content. Those 5-6 reviews on here actually turned up worthwhile music in my PO box, so thanks to those who submitted.
This was gonna be the year I reintroduced myself to the world. Don't make plans like that. Things are a lot better now than I thought they'd be, and the time I burnt up on movies and self-reflection this year was probably more needed than another DJ gig or whatever. Radio sustained me, I will freely admit, and finding records out in the wild once shops reopened was really killer too.

Szervansky's skull - Limited Edition 25 of 25, Mark McPadden
This was a ram's skull which I found in my studio in Budapest, Hungary. I went on to make an etching in copper in the print studios in Budapest. Each print has been printed by myself with it own individual quality of ink tone. The plate size is 13cm high x 18cm wide.Rembrandt has highly influential while I worked on this plate and it took many months to reach this state.

"Let's Do This": The Convicted Murderer Who Wanted Death
Tumblr media
Gary Gilmore; Photo Source: Wikipedia
Confessed murderer Gary Gilmore was executed by firing squad in Utah at 8:07 a.m. on January 17, 1977. Gilmore wanted death and was even given a choice of the method -- hanging or firing squad. He chose the firing squad.
Gilmore had confessed to two murders of gas attendant Max Jensen and motel manager Ben Bushnell in July of 1976. Both Jensen and Bushnell were robbed and shot to death. Based on the evidence presented at his trial, Gilmore was only convicted of Jensen's murder and sentenced to death.
When his attorneys filed an appeal to reverse the death sentence, Gilmore fired them. He event asked his mother to stop writing letters to officials pleading for the reversal his sentence. Gilmore also refused assistance from the American Civil Liberties Union and other anti-death penalty organizations.
Up until receiving a death sentence, Gilmore had led a life of crime. He was a juvenile delinquent who had served time in jail on and off since the age of 14.
Gilmore was caught and confessed to the murders of Jensen and Bushnell after walking into an auto repair shop with his hand bleeding. During the robbery and murder of Bushnell, Gilmore had accidentally shot himself in the hand. Suspicious of the injury, the mechanic notified authorities. Gilmore's cousin had also notified police. His cousin had taken him in after he was released from prison in the hopes that Gilmore would reform himself.
Gilmore fought for the death penalty because he thought that life in prison was a harsher sentence than death.
In 1979, the book "The Executioner's Song" by Norman Mailer was released about Gilmore's fight to "die with dignity" and was made into a TV movie in 1982, starring Tommy Lee Jones as Gilmore.
Gilmore was the first man executed in the United States since 1967. The United States Supreme Court had ruled that the death penalty was unconstitutional in that it was "cruel and unusual punishment in 1972. Capital punishment was reinstated by the United States Supreme Court in 1976, after a majority of states passed new death penalty statutes.

Pairing: Ben x Reader Summary: Morning sickness and doctor appointment.  Warnings: sickness Words: 839
Tumblr media
Late July 2016
Anything and everything was making you nauseous and you couldn’t keep anything down. You knew you had to eat and drink, you had a growing child inside of you. But anything you placed inside your stomach, ended up in the bottom of the toilet bowl hours later. It was getting to the point where it was hard to find the energy to get up. When you arose from your perch you almost instantaneously get hit with a wave of dizziness and needed to sit back down. It was making you miserable.
Ben was due home any minute now. The project he was working on was finally over with and he was planning on spending some time at home with you before jet setting off to the next destination.
You don’t remember when Ben arrived home, it was early in the morning. You were fast asleep, but it was a nice feeling to wake up in the strong arms of the man you love so dearly. It was also a feeling that only lasted until you caught a whiff of him and the smell had your stomach churn.
“Crap.” You scrambled to get out of bed and to the bathroom that was attached to the master suite. You barely made it to the toilet before emptying whatever was in your stomach which was nothing. It  didn’t stop there though, once the contents of your stomach were gone you started dry heaving. Which left your throat with a horrible burning sensation.
“Hey.” Ben shortly followed you into the bathroom, once he figured out what was happening. He grabbed the glass by the sink and filled it with water. He sat down on the ground next you leaning against the bathtub, murmuring soft words to you. He knew there wasn’t much he could do, since this was more of a natural thing.
“Get rid of your shirt.” You greeted him by wrinkling your nose at him. It smelled of smoke and his cologne. Something you always enjoy, but now was making you sick. Ben nodded taking off the cursed item and throwing it to the outside world.
“How often are you getting sick like that?” He proceeded to had you the glass he had prepared for you. You took small sips of it, not really wanting it, but knowing it would help in the long run.
“It’s never ending. And most of the time I’m not hungry and water is repulsive.” You shrug, it was a hopefully minor side effect of something you willingly signed up for.
“Maybe we should talk to the doc about this at the appointment next week. Maybe there’s something more going on.” Your husband suggested looking at you.
“We can mention it. I guess.” You shrug forcing yourself to take a small sip of the of water. It did nothing and made you want to regurgitate again. But nothing came out. “I doubt it’s anything Ben. It’s just morning sickness. It’s normal.”
Mid August 2016
A week and a half later you had your second appointment with Dr. McPadden. She was a nice older lady with dark hair and a sweet voice. She had been your doctor when you were younger and now you trusted her with the care of your unborn little one.
“So how are the Jones’ doing today?” Dr. McPadden entered the room that was adorned with poster about babies and little kids. She looked over your charts, studying them. “Doing good?” She asked when there wasn’t a response.
You and Ben look at each other contemplating what to say. The morning sickness you were experiencing over the past couple of weeks only had intensified and you were starting to think you were losing weight.
“No. Not really.” You take a deep breath and start to explain what has been going on with getting sick multiple times a day, and other things. Ben moved to grab a hold of your hand as a single tear ran down your face.
“Let’s take a look at things.” The doctor nodded in acknowledgement of what you were telling her. “I’m going to be doing a couple of test to rule things out. And we’ll go from there.”
“Alright, I think I’ve got everything we’ll need for the tests.” Dr. McPadden noted, handing the samples to a nurse. “We’re going to do the ultrasound now. The tech is going to be taking over for now. I’ll in a couple of days with the results of the tests and we’ll make a plan.” She bid you adu for now as she walked out the door.
The ultrasound was going well. The gel was a bit cool, but what like what you had always pictured from movies and shows. Which was nice.
“This is the heartbeat for baby A.” The tech pointed to a dot of the screen. You look at Ben frowning. Baby A? He shared your expression. “And here is baby B.” The lady made note of the looks on our face, coming a realization. “Congratulations. Looks like you’re having twins.”

Author Mike “McBeardo” McPadden wrote an encyclopedic guide of raunchy, teen movies in his recently published book Teen Movie Hell. But aside from the boob and dick jokes that prevailed every movie, there was beauty and art in a force of life and monumental cinematic achievement. Read the full article here.
